Fantastic experience: I highly HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about multiple aspects of Darwin's history. The tour is well run, involving very good audio and commentary. The tour guide was a true professional. This tour covers all areas of Darwin and really interesting spots that you wouldn't know about! There's laughs, shock, intriguing places and more to see on this tour. I did all the "must do" things in Darwin, but this takes the cake! Shout out to those who make this tour so enjoyable! Mega shout out to David!!! Awesome work.
Fantastic experience: Top experience touring around in wwii era converted truck. A little more room for a tall man like myself would have been nice. Tour guide was funny and knowledgeable. I hesitate to say 'must do', but I think it's close.
Thank you Murray for your review - have a great time in Darwin

Fantastic experience: The historical tour with David was simply brillant! The ride in the WW2-Truck was an adventure in itself, but with the truck we visited so many interesting war sites. David illuminated different aspects of the wartime which was great! I particularly liked the variety of information we recieved. David is a very competent guide and I am extremely impressed by his knowledge of Darwin’s historical past. Pure excitement!!:)
Thank you Larissa for you kind review Have a great stay in Darwin!
Fantastic experience: Great experience on the tour, from the novelty of being on the old truck, to the information that was passed on right through the trip. Would recommend doing this tour as one of the first things when you are in Darwin, as David shares lots of information about other places you can add to your list to visit during your stay.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this tour. David our driver was an encyclopedia of information! He gave a very indepth and interesting tour of Darwin and war history. Museum stop off was great too, a shame we did not have another 30mins here to explore everything. That being said, we really enjoyed this tour. Thanks David

Fantastic experience: David was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide on our drive around Darwin in his old but comfortable truck. Definitely an experience I recommend. Thanks!
Hi JRGlad you enjoyed the tour Cheers
Negative experience: When you travelling around Australia and see the difference between small town museums and these big city money hungry government wow 60 dollars per person bit of a joke the expensive prices only difference is aircon
Hi Michael - You have the wrong business - we run tours in a Ww2 vehicle - we are not a museum - and we don’t operate now we don’t start our season until the end of April. We do go to the military museum but they aren’t $60 they are $20 entry.Seems like you haven’t done your research and haven’t actually visited anything to know. Are you even in Darwin at the moment?Cheers The Darwin History and Wartime Experience
Positive experience: Great military museum with a lot of information about the bombing of Darwin during WW2

Fantastic experience: Meet Betty - a 1940s Studebaker, built in the USA for the military and now one of the most unique ways to explore Darwin! We joined David on the Darwin History and Wartime Experience Tour on our recent visit and it was superb. It's a 90-minute run around town in this amazing heritage vehicle, complete with informative live commentary. Anyone wanting to delve into Darwin’s backstory will love this tour! Note: Betty has the wet season off.
Great to hear you enjoyed the tour - have a great stay in Darwin!

Hi Tim - thank you for the kind review and glad to know you could charge your phone!cheersDavid
Fantastic experience: What the tour guide dosent know about Darwin during and post WWII isn't worth knowing. This tour is undoubtedly the best $55 you'll spend in Darwin.
Fantastic experience: A very informative tour with knowledgeable tour guide driving around Darwin, visiting locations affected by the bombing during WW2. Also included entry into the Military Museum which includes a simulated experience during the bombing. The museum had lots of artefacts and memorabilia and was very educational. I can highly recommend this tour.

Hi Davidgreat to hear you enjoyed the tourcheersThe Darwin History and Wartime Experience
Positive experience: Bit full on, information overload, so much to see so little time. The guide needs to slow down a bit and let you comprehend what he is saying, but very enjoyable riding in the truck and you will see stuff you wouldn't see normally, recommended
Negative experience: Dreadful..... museum was enjoyable but driver a nightmare. Felt unwelcome, barked orders at us, didn't introduce himself. When I said he was rude, he said I wasn't rude...I was abrupt!!! Take hop on/off bus instead and pop into war museum along the way. Thumbs to driver down
Hi Irene - as explained in the review you left on VIator - unfortunately you guys created problems from the very start - you got on the wrong vehicle with the wrong company despite being directed by both ourselves and the other company where you needed to go, we then left late having waited for you not knowing where you were, our ticket seller then rang the other company to find out if you were onboard - which you were - on a vehicle that you hadnt paid to be on .. and werent entitled to be on, they then dropped you at another point - not a pick up point for ourselves and then had to get the driver to try and work out what was going on as he cant answer any phones whilst driving, and then to top it off placed a scooter in front of the object he was describing whilst you got onboard- no doubt by mistake but nonetheless completing a comedy of errors you created from go to whoa. No wonder he wasn't pleased as this put him even further behind for his pick for people at the military museum and drop off for those already onboard. On top of this there were no apologies offered to other passengers for all the problems you created. Obviously one of those days where you feel you just shouldn't have got out of bed .....
Fantastic experience: The tour was amazing and very informative about the bombing of Darwin. The added ‘Santa never made it to Darwin’ bought tears to my eyes. We would highly recommend this to others. Thank you so much. Regards, Wayne and Jo Vaughan
Glad you enjoyed it - cheers David
Fantastic experience: So much history my head hurt!
Glad you enjoyed it Ken - cheers David
Fantastic experience: Loved it, very informative.
Thank you Steve - glad you enjoyed it. please spread the word. Cheers David
Fantastic experience: A must see in Darwin
Fantastic experience: What an experience! An excellent tour of Darwin with informative commentary along the way. The use of archival sound bites meshes everything together as you are driven around in an open backed WWII truck. It took just minutes into the tour for me to realise how little I actually knew of the history of Darwin in WWII. By the end of the 80 minute tour I have a better understanding of the players, the places and the effects of war on Darwin. To actually have bullet holes in steel fence posts pointed out to us is something we could not have discovered on a self drive tour using a guide book. This tour makes it real for the passengers! Also included in the tour/commentary is the historical setting for the settlement of Darwin. The commentary is not pre-recorded, it is delivered live by Dave as you tour around. When we come back to Darwin next year we will certainly go on the same tour again as I am sure that I will retain more information second time around. Thanks Dave for a highlight of our Darwin 2021 trip. Cheers Chris Mac
Thank you Chris for your kind review - see you next year.cheersDave

Fantastic experience: Awesome place to learn about the attack on Darwin.
Fantastic experience: So much history and it opens your eyes to what happened
Cheers Sheralyn - thnk you for your review
Positive experience: It didn't really give me 'wow' factor.
Hi Elizabeth - I don't actually think you are a customer of mine as I don't have you on my records. Maybe you are talking about the military museum? We drop people there if requested but are not actually part of the facility at all - however I have to disagree with you if that is what you are talking about - the museum gives a fantastic insight into Darwin's involvement in WW2.In anycase I think you have recorded on my google page in error as you are not a bonafide client according to my records.regardsThe Darwin History and Wartime Experience
Fantastic experience: Fabulous tour incredible price. A fun and educational way to see Darwin. A must do.
Hi Emma - so glad you enjoyed it. Have a great stay in Darwin - cheers.
Fantastic experience: I had a great time on this history tour of Darwin. Our driver was very thorough and knew all the places to take us. Unfortunately there were a couple of places where I wasn't able to hear him too well due to the wind blowing through, this was mainly near the boats. It may have just been because today was quite windy. However it didn't take away from the very interesting afternoon. A great time
Fantastic experience: Incredibly detailed and enlightening experience, 10/10
Hi Liam - thank you very much - gld to hear you enjoyed it
Positive experience: Great stop
Positive experience: Lots outside to see. Neat outside static displays.
Fantastic experience: Friendly, informative, and powerful experience about the history of Darwin and how it was thrown into WW2.
Hi Marianne - glad you enjoyed the tour. Have a great stay in Darwin. David
Fantastic experience: VERY NICE
Glad you enjoyed the tour Andonis!
Positive experience: We wanted to take a short ride and chose this one, characteristic in vintage trucks even though with comfortable seats and seat belts! Comments and recordings are only in English and terrible value for money. It's better to use the Big Bus, and for 24 hours you can stop to visit whatever you want.
Thankyou for leaving a comment PasqualeWe are of course a history tour dealing mainly with the pre war, wartime and post war history of Darwin - with special emphasis on the world war 2 history - and as so are quite unlike the Big Bus tour. Am glad to hear you enjoyed our WW2 vintage truck. Am not sure what the problem was with the presentation ..? Was the sound ok? We haven't had a problem with sound previously and would be interested to know what the issue was.kind regardsThe Darwin History and Wartime Experience
