Negative experience: Closed already at 4:20 PM. 10 Minutes before real closing. Open sign infront. We had to pay for the parking for nothing..

Negative experience: Simply outrageous! The lady showed me how to google something, I didn't need her help for that. Darwin keeps advertising the surrounding national parks, then they must also be able to provide information.
Apologies if we helped you when you didn't need it. The staff are very helpful in all regions and national parks. The NT Park Pass can only be purchased online. We hope you enjoyed your stay in the Top End and had many wonderful experiences.
Positive experience: Information brochures on the local and surrounding was available for free. The ladies at the counter were a wealth of knowledge.

Negative experience: Top end visitor centre is primarily a place for making tour bookings rather than providing information to tourist so that they can plan and make informed decisions. Staff is only focused on counter sale and has no attention to attend visitors or have a chat with them. Centre can improve on maps and information to have a good tourism in beautiful NT/ Darwin

Fantastic experience: Definitely go to Top End Visitor Information Centre for car rental. They offer a genuine 25% off rates. We hired an MG SUV for A$52! Shane was our agent and he was super-helpful too with maps and suggested directions. Litchfield National Park is your #1 “must see”. Drive the loop from Batchelor to Berry Springs (in that direction).

Fantastic experience: Great and detailed information about Darwin. Super nice and helpful people behind the counter who explain everything very thoroughly. It takes some time, so plan for a bit of waiting, especially when cruise ships are in the harbor. There are brochures from all providers and attractions, as well as free maps and open WiFi. Many tickets have a 25% discount, including for the HoHo bus and the museums.

Negative experience: Felt like I was annoying them with my questions and should have look for answers by myself on internet. One of the least helpful visitor center I have encountered in Australia

Negative experience: Cannot believe this is the Top End Visitor Centre. It's the worst one I've visited in Australia and I've been around the country quite a bit. Little to no merchandise to buy, dark and dingy, no public toilets. Sweltering Darwin day and no free water. Unfortunately we had difficulties understanding the staff when they spoke to us and I don't think they understood us either. (oops). They were no help and told us to do all our bookings, etc online on their website as it would be easier. Whole place lacked appeal and was a poor representation of what Darwin and the Top End has to offer.

The visitor centre is the old reserve bank, a heritage-listed building with limitations such as the lack of public toilets however, there are public toilets and free water fountains available across the road in the Mall. Our goal is to provide a welcoming visitor experience, and we appreciate your insights to help us improve. We hope to see you in the Top End again and to give us another chance to serve you.

Negative experience: I have been to alot of Visitor Centres before, but this one didn't have anything to buy except maps!! And NO toilets!! I got more off the internet. Sad.
Hi Deanna, Thank you for the feedback. We operate from a heritage-listed building 'The Old Reserve Bank' and are unable to provide toilet facilities but there is a public toilet only a 1-2 minute walk away which is very convenient. We are currently looking at extending our retail offerings.
Negative experience: I took a visitor from Victoria into the information centre today to inquire about the advertised tourist passport. We were rudely told it's only for cruise ship passengers and then given no other advice.
Apologies Fiona if this came across as a bad experience for you. Yes, the passport is designed for cruise and conference delegates. Our team enjoys helping visitors and we have other publications we can give out for your planning.

Negative experience: The people working there have no interest in their work. They love to advise on what you can't do or what is closed rather than helping you to find the alternatives that are available. Edited: just calrifying, this comment was not related to safety as I understand that goes first and I wouldn't be disapointed at someone for trying to look after me and reiterating: the attitude of the staff is not appropriate, they just don't care about their job and they do not want to be helpful.
Hi Ana, currently there is a strong weather system and staff are letting visitors know of road conditions and closures that have only happened overnight. Last week we had a cyclone warning and heavy rainfall also so there are large amounts of water around currently that could lead to flash flooding and some closures. Part of our work here at the visitor centre is to keep visitors informed. We want visitors to enjoy their stay and keep safe.
Negative experience: Booked and paid for a Mindil Market VIP experience. Arrived (from interstate) with our bottle of wine prepared for a lovely sunset dinner at the markets in a special VIP area. Where is the VIP area? "Stopped weeks ago!" Per security. Manager confirmed. Said she had no bookings pending. This operater uncontactable. Caught uber back to accomodation, had to find dinner elsewhere. Very poor communications.
Hi Gail,Unfortunately, Mindil Beach Markets had some unforeseen circumstances and was not able to offer this experience, we refunded guests accordingly once we were notified of this. I hope the rest of your trip was pleasant and enjoyable.

Positive experience: This was the least helpful visitor centre we've been to, having travelled around the Australian continent almost all the way round. The entire facility was geared more toward collecting money and fees rather than actually helping visitors. It appears to be the hub for making bookings for tours.
Hi Myra, we offer a booking service it supports our local businesses and many visitors do not enjoy the online experience and want to engage with a "local expert" before making a booking. Fantastic experience: Left organising tours a bit late and was having problems on line with everything we wanted being booked out. We were quite anxious. Went to Top End Tourist Visitor Centre for SOS and cool, calm, patient Michyio competently sorted and organised a Top End experience for us taking in what we wanted to experience. Answered all our questions and concerns. Made sure we understood and we’re happy with what she had proposed. Dealt with operators and got us the experience we wanted. So professional and helpful. We are extremely grateful and happy.

Fantastic experience: Best information we have been given in five months of travelling Australia. Ella spent over an hour with us going through our 9 day trip to Kakadu and beyond and made sure we had all the best places to see. Negative experience: Unhelpful ladies, one didn't know what souvenirs were. I had to get a street map, never offered my wife one. Found our own way around.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous ladies, who helped arrange our hire car along with plenty of information on what to see & do in Darwin & the surrounding areas.
Negative experience: I introduced myself and asked one of the ladies at the desk "If you could do one thing in Darwin, what would it be?". She refused to answer and redirected me to the back of a long que. It would have taken as long to answer my question as it did to redirect me. I'm genuinely confused as to why she wouldn't answer my question.

Negative experience: Very difficult to get a hold off at first when tried to ring Email them also - no response, then later on got a hold of them Asked them some question about some motels - did not know at all Then give me wrong info about other things i wanted to find out ! The info what i was asking should have been easy & transparent to get from them but anything but - Think you need to change you business name from Tourism Top End Visitor Information Centre To ..... Sorry you cant get a hold of us now we are drinking coffee or surfing the web, when you do get a hold of us our information may be correct ?if you are not happy you can ask the audience or phone a friend ! Pathetic !

During this time we were very short staffed and recruiting/training new staff like many businesses around Australia currently. Our staff are passionate about helping visitors get out and seeing the best of the Top End, I hope you have a better experience next time if you choose to contact us for your travel needs.
Positive experience: Great place to get to know what's happening around the city, plan for what stops you need to make, they were so helpful and friendly in trying to sort my itinerary coz I just had a days stopover in the city... Especially on how I should plan so I could see everything including the timings on when places are open.... Though Google can do the same thing but not as well
Negative experience: The most unhelpful Visitor information centre we've visited in 10 years of travel around Oz. Our customer service officer Ella clearly needs a career move away from the service industry. Darwin is great though.

Fantastic experience: Plenty of information and lots and lots of tourists in there. Please scan QR code as not many people in Darwin doing it. Also opposite one of the festival event sites.

Fantastic experience: This centre offers a wide range of tours in and around the Darwin precinct, including Litchfield National Park, Kakadu National Park & Arnhem Land to mention a few. The Indigenous lady who assisted me was very friendly and knowlegible of all tours I was interested in going on.

Negative experience: Its almost impossible to get in touch with tourism top end via phone or email. And when I finally did get in touch the customer service on the phone was very disappointing. When comparing to the exact experience and request with Katherine visitor centre, top end tourism were not very helpful. Katherine visitor centre were able to grant a booking amendment for our tourism vouchers outside of the booking window but top end refused. Not very helpful or consistent and not encouraging to participate in travel in the NT.
Hi Amy, as the regional tourist association in the top end we are bound by the rules around vouchers as provided from Northern Territory Government. We are not permitted to make changes to tourism vouchers outside of the booking window. If you are needing to do this in future it must be actioned through the voucher provider. We hope you can understand and hope you enjoyed your tourism voucher experience.
Negative experience: Visited at the height of the season with insufficient staff to help us. Grabbed some maps and other literature and left with limited/non-existent parking outside. This Centre is in an awful location for visitors and travelers with the parking situation. Another observation is the demeaning tourist sticker we see that says "See you in the NT" in a form that can only be described as crude and insulting to your beautiful state. The Northern Territory is a world class destination and deserves a tourist motto and symbol that is more sophisticated and intelligent. Please get rid of this bogan slogan and put the creative brains trust of the NT to work on one that does justice to your incredible State.
Hi Frederick, sorry to hear you did not have a great experience. The Territory as a whole has struggled with recruitment in the last year or two and it has unfortunately impacted all customer facing industries. Our staff are working hard to give the best service possible and I hope when you visit again that you will have a better experience.Unfortunately we do not have free parking facilities, we do direct visitors to utilise the street parking surrounding the building. The slogan you are referring to is not something that our staff nor the territory tourism industry advocate for or use.
Negative experience: Terrible customer service. Took a month for an issue with a reservation that I made through them to be addressed. I couldn't deal directly with the provider because the refund needed to be processed through tourism top end. And they don't care that at the end of the day I am out of pocket because apparently they didn't make the error (but they did charge the fees)

Positive experience: Go to place for tourists. I suggest everyone that is a tourist to head here first before heading out. Lots of useful information for Darwin and surrounds, found out things to do that I didn't know existed. Top points. Air conditioning inside building was ok, but built up a sweat just standing looking at phamplets.

Positive experience: Nice and open. Plenty staff on hand. Many brochures had run out. There was a big selection for paid tours, however, I was struggling to find self-drive options. I should probably just google it...

Positive experience: Great staff, knowledge and information (when we went there to book) but two things that really should be 1 star is their services in email and phone. Still waiting for an email I have been back on many occasions to rebook our itinerary but always a full house and don't have the time to wait. So we tried calling and just on hold for 30 minutes+ (multiple calls)

Negative experience: Only positive was it was cool inside. Staff finishing with others didn’t raise when finished to acknowledge me or say they would be a minute. After 14 minutes of waiting I asked for things in walking distance I was given a brochure on buildings with no direction or what these buildings actually were!

Positive experience: Very helpful place to get information on what to do in the city or explore more of the top end. I was shown enough to do in Darwin for 7 days by the helpful staff member and given advice on how to use local transport and rental scooters which was very handy.
