Fantastic experience: What a fantastic experience we had today with Peppermint Bay Cruises. 10/10 Jacks first solo trip as captain. All the staff we amazing & so so friendly. The meal at the hotel was exceptional. All local produce it was delicious. Nice touch to be able to have a beverage on board. Highly recommend this adventure to all who visit Hobart. Thankyou to all the crew

Fantastic experience: We had an amazing time. Licensed assistance dogs are allowed on board and the captain and crew were amazing with myself and with the dogs.

Fantastic experience: The most amazing day! From getting on board, exploring the waters with great commentary along the way. When we arrived at the Restaurant, we were in awe of the natural beauty. You have to see it with your eyes! The staff were attentive and on point, The food was fantastic. A set menu and there was plenty of it! They cater to Gluten free and dairy which was a bonus for me, just let them know in advance. I would definitely do it again!

Fantastic experience: Perfect mild sunny day on a great boat and lovely local tasting lunch ( plenty of beautiful food) at a gorgeous waterfront cafe! Staff lovely. Friendly and helpful. Ahhh...bliss.

Fantastic experience: This is an amazing cruise and better than any I’ve experienced on my vast travels. Welcoming professional and great knowledgeable commentary throughout the journey down and again on the return. The lunch was plentiful and delicious with a beautiful outlook. I could not fault this cruise. Just do it!

It's a shared menu with great servings.would do it again. I think it was the best meal we've had so far in our 8 days of being here :)

Fantastic experience: Just had a great Sunday lunch, courtesy of the crew on board the Peppermint Bay Catamaran and the stuff at Peppermint Bay restaurant. Food and atmosphere was amazing. Would highly recommend even for us locals.

Negative experience: Went with friends, we ordered the octopus and fish and chips and they ordered the steak and some bread with cheese. The octopus was sour and dry and the fish had no taste, the chips were weird also. The steak was too hard and half of it was wasted away... Won't come back

Fantastic experience: What a fabulous day out! The catamaran was super comfy, lots of space to roam around the boat with seats/benches for chilling. Lunch at the restaurant was delicious, a set menu (and the food just kept coming) drinks purchased at the bar. Lovely team of staff, all round I would highly recommend this as a great way to see Hobart from a different point of “view”.

Fantastic experience: Took the cruise today with a friend..beautiful Autumn day, calm river. Lucky to see a white bellied sea eagle and dolphins albeit a quick glance! Lunch was above my expectations and delicious topped with Tassie Sav blanc. Staff were very attentive to our needs. In all "a very enjoyable" day! Recommend highly!

Positive experience: We were here several years ago when it was a La carté, had wonderful meal, it is less refined now, more rustic, yet the food was delicious if somewhat small servings compared to prices. The location of Peppermint Bay and restaurant grounds at twilight is both serene and beautiful with restaurant’s own vegetable and herb garden. Essential to walk around after your delicious meal. Enjoy.

Positive experience: Great cruise, however maybe a rethink on lunch. We had over an hour wait before main. I would have preferred to have a choice of the set menu or ordering something quickly from the place next door.

Positive experience: It was extremely hard to find out exactly what was for lunch or what was included so for those that actually want to know, here goes.... My husband, mother in law and father in law joined me on today's cruise. Upon arriving we were told there was allocated seating and we had to sit where we were told. This resulted in my mother and father in law being put upstairs and us being put downstairs. If we'd been told this or if it was mentioned on the website we would have booked together so we could sit together. No drinks are included so make sure you bring extra money, a $25 bottle of Derwent Valley wine was being sold for $47 a bottle, nice bit of a mark up! Lunch was 4 courses but all shared over the table and portion sizes were ridiculously small. Firstly, after waiting 30 minutes, we received 4 slices of bread with chicken liver pate. Another 20 minute wait and we received 8 small cubes of spiced pumpkin between 4 people (literally not enough to feed 2 people). At 1.30pm lunch finally came out, on the middle of the table was placed a bowl of lamb (1/4 of it was fat), 6 small garlic potatoes and a bowl of lettuce. We are not crazy big eaters but the portion sizes were enough to feed 2 only. At 2.10 (you are due back on the boat at 2.20) we finally received dessert - 2 tablespoons of rice pudding with a slice of orange on top. We then sped back to the boat so we weren't late. Service was nice and the food was ok, nothing mind blowing and nothing that would make you come back a second time. On the trip home we got a short "thanks for joining us" and then an hour of silence. I commend the staff for making the most of what they have but honestly...for $130 a person I expected more, and I didn't expect to have to buy a packet of chips on the boat ride home because I was starving. They could do so much to make this trip have a wow factor or make customers feel special and want to come back. Disappointed as we looked forward to this as a romantic "wow" trip for so many years.

Negative experience: Wanted to book but no cruises in the week we are here

Fantastic experience: We had a lovely day out on this cruise today, despite the rain's rude attempt to dampen our spirits. And clothes. Cruise commentary from the skipper was somehow gentle, informative and relaxing, and I'm not sure how he did this. But he did. Service from staff was good too. Lunch at the Peppermint Bay hotel was just what the doctor ordered on such a day, warming, homely and yummy.

Fantastic experience: We had a family day out on the Peppermint Bay lunch cruise and cannot speak highly enough about the whole experience. From the ticketing, to the crew, to the hotel food and service. It was fantastic. We were lucky with an almost perfect day weather wise but the whole cruise was done incredibly well. would thoroughly recommend it.

Positive experience: Excellent experience with mouth watering food on offer. My only ‘criticism’ was that I was told rather sternly “ This is the southern part of Tasmania, so we only drink Cascade down here” by one of the waiters. As it was my birthday last Monday (4/2), I had hoped to sample my preferred James Boag’s beer. I hope to be back sooner rather than later.

Positive experience: 1. Ask what the menu is because its not for everyone. Didn't get a choice at all out of two things I dont eat oysters so i didnt have first course. Pickled vegs is not my cup of tea and hommus is my least favourite dip. We ordered drinks you have to pay for it. We waited 30 minutes and my drink didnt turn up we had to ask... Nowhere could i find a menu. The cruise was excellent the skipper was great the boat is very comfortable. So maybe get a picnic lunch some places will make them for you. For 2 people $80 would get you a good lunch. Do the cruise and sit outside and eat what you like.

Negative experience: Sadly we can't recommend this place. We visited to check it out for our wedding. They had somehow lost our lunch reservation, so bad start with " we will see if we can fit you in." meals were terribly long in coming out, to the point where it pushed out our tour of the venue appointment too. Meals were sadly average, and one terrible. When told, staff didn't care. Wedding events staff didn't seem to care we were there, and walked of and left us. So in summary, if I am going to spend $12, 000 for a reception, this didn't fill us with confidence.

Fantastic experience: We throughly enjoyed our day trip. Very professional & friendly. The staff were very helpful to my brother in a wheelchair. Nothing was too much trouble. Made the day very relaxing. Lunch at the hotel was fabulous. The cruise & boat was lovely.

Fantastic experience: Enjoyed a wonderful cruise and lunch to Peppermint Bay with friends yesterday. Cruise was great (helped by great weather with clear sunny day) and interesting commentary by PETER our skipper. The lunch was a wonderful surprise. Freshly cooked delicious house made bread, freshly shucked coffin bay oyster and an interesting entree of pumpkin seed ‘goulash’ which went well with the fresh bread. The highlight however was the perfectly slow cooked lamb-extremely tender and deliciously tasty. Served with fresh crispy green leaf salad and roast potatoes. Followed by a desert of cake, cream and marinated raspberries. Add to that excellent service-our waiter Jeremy was very friendly and helpful. All in all a most enjoyable day out to add to our holiday experience.

Negative experience: Whilst the cruise was informative and interesting, the "5 course lunch" was an absolute disappointment, 1 oyster per person, a sliver of smoked salmon, the mixed meats and bread turned out to be a blob of pate, main course was a big letdown, no gravy or sauces on offer, and not a coffee in sight, unless you paid extra !!!!! Certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.. Save your money, walk around Salamanca and have a cheaper better meal at the Ball and Chain

Fantastic experience: What a fantastic day! I was blown away by the quality and professionalism of the entire experience. We traveled past some scenic areas and enjoyed a nice time out on the water. Lunch, however, was the highlight of it all. We were treated to a seemingly never-ending feast that included something like six different courses. We sampled local foods and enjoyed a wide variety of dishes. All of the dishes hit the mark and we enjoyed all of the selection. This is a must-do for locals and tourists in Hobart.

Negative experience: My wife and I went on the cruise on Friday 13th May. We found the boat and cruise very good but were very disappointed with the lunch. What was served up was very inadequate for four people( plates were served between 4). The smoked salmon served for entrée my wife, who is a small eater, could have eaten what was on the plate for four. The main, if you could call it that, was a chunk of lamb, which we had to tear apart to share, and in my opinion, not of very good quality, served with quinoa, which was mostly left on the plate by the four of our group. And through the whole cruise and lunch not even a cup of tea or coffee was provided unless it was paid for as an extra. I have a few friends waiting to know what I thought of the cruise, but there is no way I could honestly say it was worth going on. Value for money was poor and there are much better day trips to do around the area.
