Fantastic experience: Highly recommend talking with Emi from Japan Explorer if you are planning a Japan trip. She is very helpful and knows Japan inside out and will put together an itinerary based on your interests. She also made sure we were OK and had some contingency plans in place during the recent Typhoon emergency.

Fantastic experience: For our travel, my wife and I will usually organise it but being unfamiliar with Japan, we needed some help. The purpose of the trip was the Rugby World Cup but we wanted to do some touring in between the games. We choose Japan Explorer (even though we are not from Melbourne) and from the start we were impressed by their knowledge and also their flexibility in putting a holiday in around the rugby. We spoke through what we were after and received some excellent advice. Japan Explorer put together an itinerary that was well researched and very comprehensive. It had everything from activating the JR passes to guiding us to our hotels once we arrived in the different cities and suggestions for things to see each day. Japan Explorer also organised guides in the Iya Valley. I also found that the company provided what I thought was excellent value for money for our trip. This is a great example of how small business works really well to personalise your experience and we look forward to working with them again.

Fantastic experience: We just completed a ‘9 day a taste of Japan guided tour organised by Japan explorer, starting in Osaka and ending in Tokyo. As Japan Explorer specialises in only Japanese tours, this gave me comfort that Damien knew what he what talking about. As well as booking the tour, Damien helped add an extra day at the beginning and the end of the tour and extras including Shinkansen to the tour starting point in Osaka (we flew into and out of Tokyo) and an airport greeting assistant. The tour was just what we were after, we packed so much in because it was guided and our guide took away the hassle of navigating the trains, buses and ferries. This also had a by product as by the end of the tour, we were very confident in navigating the subway and train system when we were on our own. The hotels we stayed were very clean, some a little small but to be expected by Japan’s standards and all the included breakfasts which were a great way to start a full day of sight seeing. Our guide Takashi was well organised and planned for all of the travelling conditions, even having to mix things around due to typhoon damage to planned sight seeing routes. The tour requires you to walk a lot and we averaged around 10km per day, but it actually allows you to see more and we stumbled across some places you might not come across if you weren’t walking. There were many highlights but Hiroshima was definitely a highlight with its historic significance and a very moving experience to visit the dome and the memorial museum. Be sure to visit Okonomi-mura - it’s a Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki food market located at 5-13 Shintenchi in Naka-ku, Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture.

Fantastic experience: I'm surprised this place has only 2 reviews. If you are planning to visit Japan, please use Japan Explorer instead of the other agency (3 letters). Emma/Emily (so sorry I forgot) was so accommodating over the phone and was really helpful answering my questions about the JR Pass and other enquiries regarding travelling to Japan. I will definitely be using this service to purchase our JR pass. As for my experience with the other agency, the person on the phone didn't even want to answer as she kept telling me "It's all in the website". Thankfully I stumbled across this place, while searching for other places in Australia that provide JR Passes. Thanks again Japan Explorer for your kind assistance!
