AAT Kings Melbourne Day Tours: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Great tour guide
Positive experience: Great informative driver, safe and nice clean bus and drop at hotel after
Fantastic experience: Had the pleasure of doing the Great Ocean Road tour back in 2018 with them
Positive experience: Friendly help and high knowledge, however when phoning or via email, that could improve answering
Negative experience: So disappointed that this company will take your money quickly for guided tours but taking over 12mths to refund. In this climate I would not suggest making a booking until you are about to go.
Negative experience: Many months later and many arbitrary dates for the refund missed, I still haven't been given my refund. They have changed the goal posts many times and applied them retrospectively. Don't trust this company. They are not Australian, they are owned by the international company The Travel Corporation. They also own the likes of Trafalgar, Contiki and ~40 other brands. Dont book AATKing, use an Australian firm to travel Australia . Their promise of "Rebook REFUND Relax" is false advertising. 9 days after taking my final payment for a guided tour, THEY cancelled. There were no border closures at that point. I had to fight for them to agree to a refund and now I'm still waiting. I should have been back from my tour weeks ago, but I still don't have my refund. I know times are tough for them, but there is no way they are waiting on refunds from other parties, so they are holding onto my money for no good reason. Don't trust them, they have acted in bad faith.
Negative experience: Can't get on to them to ask a question about my upcoming tour. "High traffic volume". Tried two different numbers. 25 minute wait still no answer.
Positive experience: Left on time and got us to the penguin tour on time. Gave us more than enough time to enjoy the penguins. On the bus the driver insisted on playing a loud, bright movie on the way back home when everyone was trying to sleep (after a 6 hour excursion and it was 10:30 pm). Very inconsiderate.
Fantastic experience: We went for the one day trip of Great ocean road. Our tour operator Roger was one of the best.He knew so much about the history of Australia and was very interested in showing us letting us know each and every detail. One of the finest guides and a very happy driver..he had positive outlook on life and letting us know the history. Thankyou Roger! Given a chance again..we would ask for him by name:)Great Tour with a Great Guide..
Fantastic experience: The Great Ocean Road Adventure tour is amazing if you go on a nice day. Richard was very informative and entertaining. There are two beachy areas so bring a pair of flip flops for those if you can; no matter how much I shook out my shoes and socks I still had to walk around with sand in them for the rest of the day. This tour is definitely worth your money, but make sure you go on a sunny day. Lots of walking on this one. The Penguin Parade tour was also nice. You get to pet kangaroos at Maru Koala and Animal Park. You can feed them if you buy the food ($2). Taking a picture with a koala was $30. Bring binoculars if you can for the penguins 'cause gosh darn they're tiny birds! If you have difficulty seeing in the dark, I wish you luck as the lights on the beach are very dim for the safety of the penguins. Both buses I was on had free limited Wi-Fi, a washroom at the back of the bus, and USB ports above the head.
Fantastic experience: 很不錯!
Fantastic experience: Best guys in town
Positive experience: We did the day tour to Phillip Island from Melbourne and had a wonderful time! The bus is very nice and comfortable; toilet on board, usb ports overhead, and apparently free wifi, but we weren't given a code. Our guide, Adrian, was very knowledgeable about Australia, the penguins we saw, and just about everything else; he talked pretty much the entirety of the trip there, and stopped multiple times to get trees and plants for us to touch and smell. I think some people may have enjoyed his tour guide style more than others; I slept during most of it, LOL. The actual stops at Maru Park and the Penguin Parade were also excellent. Make sure you bring warm clothes for the penguins!
Fantastic experience: We had a great experience on our tour and Mark our driver and for guide was informative with location info and history of locations and place we passed by. All this was present with great enthusiasm. The penguin parade was awesome, and the upgrade to plus was wonderful as we get to see a lot more penguins and rather up close. Also it is mating season so you have to check or press your luck how much you see. The Maru Koala Park/Conservation was awesome. We paid the extra to take photos up close with a Koala and also get to hand feed the kangaroos who can't be quite friendly and comfortable with you. One even paw my hands down and close to it's mouth eat.
Fantastic experience: I took the Grat Ocean Road Tour and it was just fabulous. I have been far and wide on Coach Tours but this day trip has to be up there with THE best. Not only the scenery and the history - but the wonderful service of Coach driver Liam. Not only has he first class customer relations service but his driving is better than non - with the road works on that road - well you need to be very very talented and he is definitely that - well done Liam AAT must be proud to have you on their team. Thankyou for an absolutely marvellous day (Margaret Elliott)
Fantastic experience: Used them for all our tours while in Melbourne
Fantastic experience: I took the Melbourne city morning tour and the Phillip Island penguin trip. Both were wonderful. Adrian our tour guide was great! Looks of local knowledge and made the trips fun!
Fantastic experience: Wir hatten heute die Great Ocean Road Tour. Unser Fahrer war super. Habe leider seinen Namen wieder vergessen.
Fantastic experience: Excellent day tour with our driver Liam. Great commentary and wonderful customer care shown. Fully recommend the service to everyone.
Fantastic experience: Just loved seeing the penguins waddle up and over the beach, in orchestrated manoeuvres. Wonderful and uplifting. Guide friendly and professional.
Positive experience: The tour's scenery was great! Bus in 14 hours...we were only OFF the bus for a max of 2 hours. Would not recommend this tour.
Negative experience: We booked the tour to great ocean road, we called them several time they did not pick up. We were 4 mins late the bus was right in fromt of us we were right in fromt of it we requested the driver to open the door we begges him he had the option but he dint . and he did not wait for 30 secs also we lost all our money no refund this is the worst customer service i have seen , having travelled countried like US veey bad would not recommend this to anyone .
Fantastic experience: Took AAT Kings tour to Phillip Island for the Penguin Parade and had a great experience. They emailed me back to answer all my questions. Pick up at their office was easy and drop off at my hotel was very convenient as you get back late. Our driver Roger was so informative about Australia and Melbourne giving commentary the entire way there. The bus was big and clean, very spacious.
Fantastic experience: The best tour guys to go to. Reliable, on time schedules, great staff, cool bus with great facilities, best guided tours. Though bit expensive if you get some offers, then this is the best. I took them for a Great Ocean Road trip.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend! We had Peter as a Guide for the Wineries tour. he is simply amazing: very funny, kind and told us lots if stories about the area. Good value for money and it is So much fun!
Fantastic experience: We did a wine tour with Paul and it was all very interesting and informative. Paul drove us safely from one place to another. He also told a lot about the area. The ride on the Puffing Billy was an experience. Every tasting thing the food in the restaurant was delicious. The Yarra Valley is a very nice area and you can not see enough of it.
Negative experience: Extremely unprofessional
Negative experience: Imagine flying from sydney to Melbourne having booked a trip to Ballarat and sovereign hill, only to get a call the day beforehand to be told “we’ve cancelled the tour for operational reasons, Lastminutetours will give you a refund”. Thanks AAT Kings! You should of found me and paid for an alternative! Buyers Beware!
Negative experience: Puffing Billy train ride was great, also the Healesville Wildlife Santuary visit, especially the Spirits of the Sky bird exhibition. The tour coach though was old, with leather worn seats which had seen their last days. They 'bottom-out' when you sat down and the tall guy behind jiggled and kneed me in the back throughout the coach trip. The AATKings coach that picked us up at our hotel was beautiful, with highly sprung fabric upholstered seats and plenty of leg room. On arrival at Federation Square where the main tours leave from, we queued up to board another coach. Our original bus went on to make the Coastal Road trip. Standing in the queue to board our coach, we then learn the back of the line was getting onto our bus which had not driven forward to the normal boarding position. This vehicle was old and the seating very well worn, with not much leg room -- disgraceful. We set off and the driver started to explain the various city buildings including the MCG sports complex, 'the G". He then launched into telling us and our overseas visitors what 'sore losers' we Australians are. "We hate to lose, even to the point the horse that won the Melbourne Cup called Kiwi, we Australians claimed it was Australiasian rather than being a New Zealander. Maybe that's what the Melbourne Press described it as being, but to categorise Australians as being sore losers, I found to be insulting. After going on and on about how Australians do not like losing and no doubt many of the overseas visitors may have had limited understanding of the English language, they started to go to sleep as the commentary then went on to cover the cost of living and the study he and his mate had done into the price of a coke cola in Australia compared to that in America. The best thing about this tour was when we were not on the bus. The Puffing Billy ride was lovely and the wild life sanctuary is a credit to the founder, the staff and very knowledgeable volunteer guides. I have made the Puffing Billy tour previously with Gray Line Tours and found it to be far superior, even the outdoor billy tea and biscuits instead of Devonshire Tea and scones at the morning tea cafe stop. A lady seated behind me plus my husband choked on the scones because of the dense dough. We booked with AATKIngs at out hotel because we were told it was the best. From our experience, it certainly is not. On leaving the wildlife centre for the return journey to the city, my husband let the driver know the hotel where we were staying, as he requested to know earlier in the day come drop off time. Abruptly he was told ' we don't drop off there, you get off at the Mantra on Russell Hotel. Nobody would have told you that we drop off at the Mercure. We're not allowed in that part of the city at peak traffic time." My husband was informing the driver as he had requested earlier and that we had been picked up there at 07.30 that morning. Okay, all the driver had to do was explain the situation in a polite manner. He certainly did not win friends that day. We plan heading back to Melbourne for another holiday in a couple of years time and plan to do the Great Ocean Road Tour but it won't be with AATKings. Thank you, Carmel, Perth.
Fantastic experience: We toured the Great Ocean Road with Liam. Our shuttle driver was 20 minutes late to pick us up, but the tour itself was great. The bus was clean, felt new, had USB chargers, but no WiFi. Our guide Liam was knowledgeable, kind, and a great driver. Would book with this company again.
Fantastic experience: Me and my wife had a Great Ocean Tour yesterday. That was an amazing experience and we had so much fun.We love the driver , he is very friendly, talkative and funny. He also did what he had to do it.He loves his job and people. In glad that we joined that tour and his buss.I definitely recommend this tour. Thank you very much AATS KINGS . Best regards, Jon
Fantastic experience: Had the pleasure of doing the Great Ocean Road tour and it was absolutely amazing! With my mom visiting from the States, my wife and I really wanted to show her how beautiful Australia really is and AATKings did not disappoint. Each and every stop presented a breathtaking view, but the pictures we took could not do it justice. You really have to be there to take it all in! The coach was very clean, the seats comfortable, and the short videos played during the beginning and end of the trip were a nice touch to break up the longer stretches of drive time. Not to mention showing Red Dog to round out our day! I don't think there was a dry eye on the coach, myself included. I'd also like to shout out our driver/guide, Mark, who was very informative and a treat to listen to as he brought the history of the Great Ocean Road to life through his gift of storytelling. Overall, it was an amazing day!
Fantastic experience: I went the the Great Southern Ocean tour. I loved it. The tour guide was great. Very funny.
Fantastic experience: It is such a great experience with ATT King. The tour guide i had was very informative and down-to-earth. My trip to Great Ocean Road was an unforgettable one with ATT King and i could not describe how amazing this trip turned out to be at the end of the day. I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to try any sort of trip in Melbourne to go with ATT King because not even the tour guide and the trip itself were great, but the services and memories i got are worth it and unforgettable.
Negative experience: The bus didn't arrive at our hotel and the contact centre was just plain rude! Pathetic service.
Negative experience: If I could give negative stars I would. Our bus picking us up was late so when we got to the main bus the only seats available were at the back of the bus. I asked the lady seating people if we could change seats because we get motion sickness and she said no and directed us to the puke bags. She said we could also take the motion sickness relief pills which I let her know we did. About 3 hours into the 12 hour trip my mother got sick and threw up 3 times. At the stop for lunch I asked the driver if we could switch and showed him my pants that had vomit all over- he said no. Then asked if there was a way back so we didn't have to go thru the rest of the trip- he said the only way back is by public bus which would take 5 hours. I then called their HQ OFFICE- and they also said the exact same things. I am curious why in extenuating circunstances they can't move people's seats?! I talked to HQ for about 40 min and got the same responses. So my last comment was ok I guess we will just continue to puke everywhere all over because that's a great guest experience for everyone else too, right. So now, we are still k on the windy bus tour for another 6 hours of hell in the back of the bus with ZERO other options.
Fantastic experience: Great tour operator. Clean modern coach. Our guide was Paul; he went above & beyond to see that our tour was as fun as it was informative.
