Fantastic experience: Gator tours 5/5!! We really enjoyed the swamp tour. Recommend going during spring or fall and not winter there’s only tiny gators. The wildlife was really cool though and the Capt did a great job! Plantation tours eh 3/5 honestly unless you don’t have a car just book it yourself. If you only book a single plantation you will end up stuck at a single plantation all day if you book 2 you at least are busy all day BUT you have no time built in for lunch. You can just drive out yourself for cheaper.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely incredible experience! We made sure to get there the 30 minutes early to check in and check out the huge gift shop! I didn't get sick, which I was scared of, and Jessup was the best tour guide! We loved seeing the alligators, raccoons, and hanging out in the Louisiana bayou!

Fantastic experience: The swamp tour was fascinating. Saw wild pigs, gators, so many different birds, great time. But Derek made a huge positive impact on the rest of my NOLA trip. Listen to him when he tells you where to eat. We went to Basin on Market St at his recommendation and it was probably the best meal we had. Phenomenal.

Fantastic experience: Captain Tim was great, it was a cold day so finding gators was tough, but he still made it a great time. Our driver Justina was super funny too. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: We did the swamp tour with Derek as our driver and Bishop as our captain. The whole thing was great. We went with our 2 year old, she had a blast, they make sure to give you life vests for those under 16, which was great. Amazing tips and a lot of information about Nola and the swamp ecosystem

Fantastic experience: The bus ride to and back from the swamp tour with Derek was entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed how Derek talked about the sights of New Orleans throughout the entire 45 min ride. It was quiet entertaining and I learned a lot about its history. The tour itself was nice. Our guide, Bishop was knowledgeable of where to take us during low season (when gators are typically dormant). We saw a few gators which was rare due to the season. Overall great experience

Fantastic experience: Derek was both hilarious and fun on the ride to the swamp tour. He shared suggestions for where to eat, things to do, and details about how Hurricane Katrina affected New Orleans. It made the ride both enjoyable and we had the opportunity with a true tour guide of NOLA!

Fantastic experience: The ride on the way to the swamp with Derek was a great experience! Very funny and educational 50 minutes, he made the ride quick and fun. As far as the swamp tour itself, Emmett was an incredible tour guide! I had such a great experience and learned so much from him. Fantastic experience: My friends and I had an amazing experience on our swamp tour, thanks to the fantastic team! Justina, our driver, was friendly, funny, and informative, ensuring we were comfortable and entertained while getting us to the destination safely. Once on the tour, Captain Lane, our swamp guide, impressed us with his knowledge of the swamp and its animal life. We got to see juvenile alligators, a variety of birds, and even had the unique opportunity to feed families of raccoons. They were so cute! Fantastic experience: The swamp tour was amazing lead by our Captain Lane! Since it was December we didn’t see many big alligators but we did see 2 baby alligators. There were still tons of native (and invasive) plants and wildlife. The bus ride there was also an awesome tour in itself as our witty bus driver, Justina, gave us a ton of local information about Louisiana. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Our tour guide Derek was quite the director. It seemed that everywhere we went, French Quarter, various neighborhoods around there, Cemetery where the Voodoo was buried, NOLO City Park which is incredible over to the Garden District. Oh to have enough time to walk in those neighborhoods. Derek is an amazing guide and as it turns out a history buff and a foodie. If I believed in reincarnation maybe I would come back as the Derek. My wife and I had a great experience and wish we would have done this tour on our first day and not the last.

Fantastic experience: Dustin the boat captain was very informative and gave an excellent tour. It was a cold morning so were not expecting too much, but still found a few alligators, snakes, birds and raccoons. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking to enjoy a nice ride through the swamp.

Fantastic experience: Justina started our tour off wonderfully. She was our bus driver and not only got us from point A to B safely but shared details about New Orleans as we drove by sites. Next for the tour we saw blue herons, raccoons, flora and many birds. We had Captain Jodi and he was amazing. He really cares about safety for all his passengers while still having a fun time. I would suggest you make it to your bus stop closer to the time they tell you since we had a full bus going there and coming back. The bus service was all provided by the tour company.

Positive experience: It was a nice trip in the nature. Unfortunately, I was not able to see alligators, I visited the swamp in December. I fed a raccoon which was new experience for me. I saw different birds. I enjoyed riding the boat and going fast in the river. I enjoyed the bus ride thanks to Justina

This is the very first tour of a city that I can honestly say I really enjoyed it and I know it is all because of Derrick, my tour guide. I do a lot of traveling and taken a lot of tours, but hands down this one right here will be my favorite, most interesting by far because of Derrick. Fantastic experience: Derek is so great at what he does, love all the information about beautiful New Orleans and its history. Loved visiting the beautiful tomb stones of New Orleans, stopped by a Distillery for a bathroom break and some drinks which were tasty! Recommend a few places to go eat as well. Definitely recommend booking a tour for first time visitors. Again, thank you Derek so so much for this experience!

Fantastic experience: Dustin was great! He really takes pride in what he does. He's very positive, very knowledgeable and emphasized alot of the wild life out on the river. We saw 5 gators that day, even during a 55 degree day he was able to spot them withing the cypress knees, along the banks, we saw pigs playing in the mud, many limpkins, raccoons and the beautiful great blue heron. Awesome job Dustin

Fantastic experience: I'm so glad I chose this company over the others. From the very start, the bus driver Steve was friendly, timely, and efficient. It was a nice surprise to get a narrated tour of sights along the way to Slidell, where the swamp tour is. The tour hq is clean and well maintained. The tour itself was just top notch. Shout out to our boat pilot Neil. The guy was extremely knowledgeable about his local environment and was hilariously funny. He can work a crowd and dealt with the different personalities on the boat seamlessly. The hours flew by, and I just cannot recommend this tour company highly enough.

He answered every question, was full of jokes and information for the whole trip. 10/10 would recommend and the tour. Fantastic experience: The tour was a combination of fun & informative. Our driver Derek shared stories about the landmarks and history of New Orleans before & after Hurricane Katrina as well as a ton of food spot recommendations. Dustin our captain was very knowledgeable of the swamp habitat and the explained the behavior of the various animals.

Fantastic experience: Our driver, Derek did a great job of giving us an introduction to Nawlins history with plenty of color commentary and the inside line on dining in the area. Once on the boat, Will gave us a great swamp tour. Lots of hungry raccoons scrambling in the trees, gators, large snakes and other wildlife made the tour interesting.

Fantastic experience: Guys, this is a must not miss! We took two tours, the swamp tour and the city and cemetery. On the swamp tour we saw so much wildlife and our Captain, Tim, was so knowledgeable and friendly. On the city and cemetery tour, our guide Karen took us all around the city and taught us so much about the history of New Orleans. We got to go into a cemetery and even visited a distillery. Definitely check it out!

Our boat driver was Captain Steve. We were lucky that Captain Steve wanted to get our boat out on the water before everyone else. I think that was instrumental in our encountering wildlife in a somewhat pristine state for the day. Like our bus Driver Derek, Captain Steve was also very entertaining and informative.

Fantastic experience: What a great experience! We've been to the Florida Everglades, but this was so much better. Derek, our bus driver and Ben, our boat captain, were outstanding. Derek provided a great mini tour with recommendations during the 40 minute bus ride from New Orleans to the swamp. Ben found lots of gators, raccoons, and wild boar during our tour. It was spectacular! Even though it was raining, the boat was covered. We were able to see quite a lot. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We did the small group with transportation swamp tour with Captain Dustin. Today was the last day of a very eventful, fun but tiresome trip to New Orleans so today’s tour was just what we needed. It’s a 45 min very comfortable bus ride to the location of the swamp. There’s time to use the restrooms and buy snacks or drinks from the gift shop before boarding your boat. The boat was easy to get on to and a comfortable ride. Dustin definitely knows the swamp! He was full of information, answered all questions happily that came his way and was full of good humor as well. It was wonderfully serene and educational! Definitely a must on your list of things yo do while in New Orleans, especially towards the end of your stay if you’ve been there a few days!

Fantastic experience: This was a last minute find for me on my New Orleans trip. I was sitting in my hotel room and found it through a Facebook ad and immediately shifted my schedule around so I could go the following morning, and I'm so glad I did - it ended up being the highlight of my trip! The scenery is beautiful, we got to see so much wildlife, and Jacob was such a great tour guide. I don't know how he has such great eyesight and spots things well before anyone else in the boat can see them. He was also super knowledgeable gave very detailed answers to the many questions we kept asking throughout the tour. I would absolutely do this again if I ever come back to New Orleans!

Early November was the perfect time to come for weather, but the gators are more present when it’s warmer! Highly recommend this tour!

Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed our time excursion today. Comfortable, air conditioned coaches took us from the city to the Honey Swamp. The 40 minute ride was made enjoyable by the friendly yet informative banter of our excellent Driver Derek. Check-in was efficient, dock area well laid out always felt taken care of. Our boat captain “Blueberry” was fantastic. He was friendly, knowledgeable and took as much time as everyone needed to get those pictures for Your socials. We saw many alligators, feral pigs and raccoons. Well worth the cost of the ticket.

Fantastic experience: I did a tour with my wife and my step son and we really enjoyed it. Justina the bus driver was very nice and funny. We reached the place and after a quick checkin we were ready to go on the boat. Two hours of nature, gators, raccoons and a lot of nice stories about the rivers and the ecosystem of the swamp. Really nice and recommended!

On the ride out, our bus driver, Derek gave us some local places to enjoy, he also told is about the dietary habits of the swampers, and lots of restaurant reviews. He was entertaining and answered all questions. Then we got on the boat…Our captain, Emmett, was the exact opposite of dreadful and boring. He told us about his personal and professional misadventures, failed attempts to put hippos in the swamps, murder birds, autism, and just about anything else his ADHD and caffeine fueled brain latched onto during the tour. If you’re thinking about a swamp tour. Don’t think twice. Sign up. Take the bus. Keep your hands and feet inside the boat. Sit back and enjoy the rides.

Fantastic experience: Not shocked at all to see that this place has such high ratings. We went on a small boat tour and it was money very well spent. Despite launching many tours at the same time, everything was super smooth. Our captain (Neil) was super knowledgeable about the entire ecosystem. This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Strongly recommend upgrading to the smaller boat if you can swing it - the lack of a roof allows you to see the full canopy.

Positive experience: This was my 1st Swamp Tour and had a nice time. It was a long day, so be sure to pack some snacks; u can't purchase any food to eat. The souvenir shop is fully stocked with gifts and things you need.

Fantastic experience: This was my second trip with Cajun Encounters in Slidell. My first trip was almost 8 years ago but I remembered it was a good time with my baby daughter and wife. This go around it was just me and my son for a guys adventure. It was a last minute trip, so we weren't able to book online, but when I called, a very nice lady named Hailey I think was able to get us all booked in for their last tour of the day. My 8yr old son was extremely excited as i gave him the option for an airboat ride or swamp tour, and he chose the swamp tour. We were very lucky to have Captain Emmett as our guide as he was extremely knowledgeable with all sorts of facts from the raising bridge by the dock to various wildlife we encountered and different vegetation. He also joked with the kids to make sure they were having fun. Highly recommended trip for everyone! The facilities are nice and clean, the gift shop has something for everyone too.

Fantastic experience: Our driver Brian, who picked us up and took us out to our swamp tour, was amazing! Safe and courteous driver and full of fun facts and history about New Orleans and surrounding towns as we drove to our adventure. Once there, Dustin lead an amazing tour! He had so much knowledge from working on the land for years and as a swamp captain and ensured we got to see so much wildlife from gators, to hogs and their babies, a raccoon family, lots of turtles and a snake and spider, too! Visiting the natural beauty of the swamp was a highlight of our visit. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Derek picked us up early and got us there on time. He was very knowledgeable. I thought his tour info was recorded it was so smooth. Until a butterfly caught his attention and he went off script! Great job Derek! Bus was in tip top shape Super clean Our Bost captain Emmit was also on point. He moved that boat with ease. We encountered alligator raccoon and even a couple pigs during the river tour.

Fantastic experience: Started off with an informative and fun bus ride (thanks Steve!) from New Orleans to the tour location. We boarded a small boat (our captain was Sonny, he was great!) and slowly made our way through the swampy cypress trees and saw quite a few alligators of various sizes. One named Carlos had maybe a dozen babies she was guarding. After this, we did a higher speed run over to a much more open area of water where we saw several more gators. I think the whole tour was about an hour start to finish. We all enjoyed it quite a lot.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful tour! We had Butch as our guide. He was very enjoyable to listen too and knowledgeable. Take this tour as soon as you can after arriving. It'll give you lots of great ideas for things to do in the city as well as it's history. Tours stop at Cemetery #3 and explain local burial customs. Afternoon/evening tour stopped at 73 Distillery. But morning tours stop at Cafe Du Monde, if you need a family friendly option.

Fantastic experience: Best thing we did on our trip to New Orleans! Starting with pickup, driver Amber was fantastic and just the right attitude for an early morning drive, keeping us laughing the whole way with her stories and giving great recommendations. I took the small group boat tour with Captain Steve, who was so knowledgeable, with great dry humor, and kept us engaged the entire tour. Glad we went for the small group tour with the smaller boat as it felt like we could get into some tighter spaces than the larger boats. Highly recommend, would absolutely do this tour again!

Fantastic experience: Zander our tour guide. He was amazing very knowledgeable and fun. He knew a lot about the wildlife and you could tell that he loves what he does. Showed us wild boars, raccoons, alligators, and different kinds of birds. Best tour in New Orleans if you ask me. Highly recommend coming to Cajun encounters for your bayou experience!

Fantastic experience: Such a great tour by Capt Lane! He was so pleasant and friendly the whole tour, stopped multiple times to see Wilde life / nature and he was soooooo informational. Came on vacation (30 year olds) we last minute booked this, was a little unsure if it was worth an afternoon of our vacation but wanted to change of pace from just drinking and eating. I can’t recommend this any higher! From pick up with Brian which was so simple to the boat tour it was a blast. Each tour guide was so informative, friendly and fun!!! Well worth the money & afternoon.

Fantastic experience: Did the swamp bayou boat tour today at 12:15pm. Definitely get there at least 30-45 mins early due to checking in at the register inside the gift shop. They line you up 18-20 per boat and give you colored wrist bands to sit at the table designated with the number of the boat your captain is assigned to for the day. The tour itself was definitely worth it. Pat was our tour guide and he was a delight. Knowledgeable and funny. His crocodile vs alligator joke and calling the pig his ex was hysterical. He made the boat ride worth it. We saw gators, coons, birds, snapping turtles, snakes. Def take water or snacks with you. You’re allowed a bag but the boats do speed up so watch out for your hats and glasses. The boats were covered so didn’t need much sunscreen thankfully. If you can afford to drive yourself to it you def should. It saves you so much time as the buses take forever to leave back to the city. Our tour lasted about 2h from time of departure.

Fantastic experience: I picked this company based on reviews, and now I can add mine. This was a great tour. I did the VIP tour with Emmet and it was worth every penny. I imagined the swamp would be cool, but I didn’t imagine how beautiful it would be. Emmet was funny and extremely knowledgeable about the whole ecosystem. His love for the swamp came through. We saw both young alligators and adult ones along with other animals, birds, and cool plants. I’m so glad I went! Our bus driver Trevon the Extraordinary (not sure of exact name) was also great and told us a lot of things I didn’t know about on our way there and back. I highly recommend taking the tours offered by Cajun Encounters.

Fantastic experience: Justina our driver was awesome and Captain Randy (“Blueberry”) gave the BEST tour! He knew tons of interesting information and made sure we got all the photos we wanted. We saw all kinds of wildlife including herons, diamond back snakes, raccoons, turtles and LOTS of alligators. We definitely recommend this tour!

Fantastic experience: Justina was a great driver. Gave a nice tour while driving to swamp tour. This is an awesome experience. A really fun day tour from New Orleans. Pick up on canal street was easy. We had captain Steve. He was awesome. Explained the swamped. It is a very unique eco system.

Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed the tour. Our house Jacob was wonderful, very enthusiastic and informative. Got to see several baby alligators, raccoons, boars and herons. The ride was a lot of fun!!

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with Captain Ben and our bus driver Brian. Captain Ben was very knowledgeable and skilled at maneuvering the boat to get the best possible angles to see wildlife. We saw lots of gators, turtles, birds and some very cute and hungry raccoons! Brian was very knowledgeable on history of the area and we learned a lot on our drive to the swamp. He was also very accommodating, holding a seat at the front of the bus for my handicapped father. We would definitely book with Cajun Encounters again.

Fantastic experience: The small boat swamp tour with Cajun Encounters was our favorite part of our trip to Louisiana. Captain Neil was an excellent guide, sharing his knowledge about the bayou, its wildlife, and the local community. He took us back into the narrow waterways off the main river, where we saw alligators and many different species of birds. It was incredibly beautiful and an awesome experience. I would highly recommend opting for the small boat!

Fantastic experience: Our bus driver Derek was great!! The info he shared was so helpful and interesting. Definitely appreciated his safe driving and willingness to answer questions. I wish we would have done this sooner so we would have had all of the insights earlier in our trip!
