Negative experience: Until our last visit we were pleased with AAA car service. Last visit to repair wiring connection on headlights we were charged 2 hours labor for a job that probably took 30-45 minutes. $380.00 and we furnished to headlight connection plugs.

Positive experience: My car has been to this shop two times within the last year or so. The staff is really friendly but beware even if you have a AAA membership they cap the discount at $100 dollars. I had to take my car back after my second visit due to them not repairing my car correct. They did take care of the issue and apologize but they are way more expensive than other places.

Fantastic experience: The people at AAA on Merrimon are some of the kindest I’ve ever met in a business setting. Matt Carpenter was the only name I got but I interacted with a few other individuals and they all brightened my day and helped ease the stress of my vehicle’s problems. I highly recommend going to AAA.

Fantastic experience: I thought I was in for a headache when my truck wouldn’t shift into gear in the Harris Teeter parking lot, but the folks at AAA got the part replaced and got me back on the road less than 24 hours later. They even walked over to Harris Teeter and helped me get the truck moving so we could get it to the garage. Bryan was helpful and pleasant in helping us sort it out.

Fantastic experience: I was on vacation and drove through a bad rainstorm causing what I thought was damage to the underside of my car. Brought it in last minute on a Friday evening, we needed to leave for home that weekend. Despite having a number of vehicles to get through, the front desk was reassuring. They were able to perform an inspection of my brakes and let me know the next day the vehicle was safe to drive. Didn’t charge anything either. Amazing service.

Negative experience: I had to take my car to the repair shop about a year back because of new spark plugs. It took almost the whole day to get to my car. It should not have taken that long. I even have taken my car to firestone and mieneke and it has never took all day

Negative experience: My girlfriend is stuck ~10 miles from Asheville on I-40 out of gas, and has been there for almost 4 hours waiting. They keep pushing the time of arrival out further. They're already way past their original arrival time, and just keep calling to say "we're still coming." The hours keep piling up. It's not a tow truck needed, it's just a gas can. Heads up: if you join AAA the Asheville area might take 4+ hours to bring you a gallon of gas.

Negative experience: I have never written a one star review but am compelled to warn anyone considering taking their automobile here. Beware, this shop has issues with unprofessionalism and poor customer service. Yesterday, we had our 2004 truck towed *away* from AAA Asheville to Tipton Automotive in Burnsville because AAA had it for *three* months and it was still not repaired. Today, the very next day, Tipton Automotive installed the replacement part AAA said could not be found "anywhere" and it is running smoothly. The day we called Tipton, they suggested we call Johnstons to search for the part. Lo and behold, Johnstons had the part locally. We personally picked up the part on the same day and took it to Tiptons. One AAA staff actually rudely remarked that we were "wasting them money" because our truck was still there up on a lift. While I'm still in shock at the unprofessionalism of AAA, I am so happy that I can drive my truck again, the day after we had it towed away from this location. Many thanks to Tipton Automotive in Burnsville.

Fantastic experience: Other than the full parking lot, the brake service was good at a fair price.

Fantastic experience: I was reluctant to bring my vehicle to AAA car care because I erroneously assumed they would be much more expensive. I was wrong. Through comparison shopping I found their prices to be middle of the road, not higher than or lower than but right about in the middle. What sets this place apart is professionalism of the front people, in this case Matt, Brian, Ian and Jeff, plus top notch mechanics. The facility and employees are dialed in, to say the least. I’m looking for peace of mind and trust in my mechanic. I found it with AAA Car care on Merrimon.

Fantastic experience: In the middle of my move from FL to NY my alternator blew. Thankfully we were in Asheville for a pit stop at our hotel. And thankfully my AAA servicer directed us to this car care center. Ian was the best! He was so understanding and so helpful and got us in as soon as possible. We are so thankful for him and the mechanics at this AAA site. They got us back on the road quickly and with such kindness and grace. Truly one of a kind customer service!

Negative experience: Unfortunately I’ve watched this repair shop go down hill over a 3 year period. What used to be a friendly from phone to front greeting to completion approach for a descent price given the thoroughness is now a close to the vest, distant, stand offish, provide only what’s necessary or less, with more than a dash of “good ole boy, beer drinking buddies, protect our own” approach when attempting to follow up on a car repair. They can be as aloof, direct or rude as they like and you as the customer are expected to fall in line to their overbooking, adding cost, taking longer than stated, snarky approach. I don’t know if they’ve had a change over in management in the past year or so, and so the approach and atmosphere has changed. ?? If you want good quality and friendly service with on time completion and updates at a good comparative price for this area, we recommend Dave’s Tire and Auto in Fletcher. Goodbye AAA.

Negative experience: I'm am sitting on the side of I26 and have been waiting 40 minutes because my tire blew out. I tried to call aaa and was told to go online to make a request. Just called to get an update and the call had not even been dispatched. The driver just called to say he is 20 minutes away. That is beyond sorry service. Will down grade my service if not cancel it all together.

Negative experience: My vehicle broke down in Marshall NC on April 18, 2024. I called for roadside assistance and was instructed by text to go to a website. I was unable to prove I was “not a robot” to that site so I was unable to get assistance. I was told to all for a reimbursement form. What I received is not valid in NC! No one at any of AAAs phone numbers has been helpful.

Fantastic experience: I was on a road trip on a busy Saturday when my brakes started giving me issues. They sorted the warranty with my local AAA mechanic and got me fixed up and in the road. They were friendly, professional, and so helpful. Thanks, y’all.

Fantastic experience: Alex Showers was extremely professional, prompt, and SO careful. I could not have dreamed of a better person to help us when our car needed a tow. The front wheel fell off of our car—and Alex did an AMAZING job of scooping up our car without causing any additional damage. I am so grateful to him. Hatton’s and AAA have a great employee with Alex. Very satisfied with the service and attention he provided.

Fantastic experience: I came in without an appointment because my car was smoking. The quote for repairs was too expensive for me, the situation was urgent so I bit the financial bullet and agreed to have the work done. When finished, they surprised me by cutting the overall price by half. I have no idea why they did this, and I'm incredibly grateful. Car is running beautifully now. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Stopped here while traveling when my car showed loss of tire pressure. They worked me in even though they were short-handed, found a screw in my tire, and got it fixed quickly. Everyone was super nice too.

R Moore 1 year ago

Negative experience: Threatened my kid that if car that was in due to break down, not moved immediately, would tow ($100), then $25 storage fee per day. AAA estimate for repair was $1500, so we needed one more day to find a mechanic. Nope. "Move today". We had it towed to house ($100), and found a mechanic the next day for less than $500 repair, but the impatient threat from Bryan cost us an extra $100 tow. One more day would have given us a free tow to a good mechanic. These guys overcharge, and rush you out the door. Cars are brought here from AAA calls automatically if you don't tell them different. So people get sent here and taken advantage of when already broken down. Shame. Don't go here.

Fantastic experience: My son was visiting Asheville when his car died. We were pretty sure it was an alternator issue and had it taken here. Andrew was awesome! He diagnosed the issue called me and explained all that needed to be done very clearly and in terms I could understand. He answered all my questions and they fixed the car for us. I appreciate the fact that they did not take advantage of the fact we were out of town and my so was on his own. Great service and I would highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to AAA for all of my oil changes, inspections, and service needs for six years now, and I have consistently felt listened to, respected, and genuinely cared for by everyone there. Whenever I have had an issue or a concern, the guys at AAA have gone above and beyond to make it right and to ensure that I have a safe vehicle to drive. I am grateful to have a kind, reliable, highly skilled team to turn to. Definitely recommend!

Negative experience: I have never written a google review but decided that the extreme negligence of AAA of Asheville needs to be publicized. That is how bad AAA of Asheville is. I took my truck to this shop on Nov. 23 and told them I thought there was an issue with the motor, that the night before my motor had been smoking from under my hood, and I checked the oil and there was none. The manager Andrew called me 2 days later to tell me there was nothing wrong with the motor, no oil leak, and that it would be $2,000 to fix my power steering system. I paid them the $2,000 and picked my truck up that afternoon. On Monday Nov. 27, three days later, my motor blew up while I was driving on a busy 4 lane road -- left me stranded in the middle of traffic. Shop then had my truck for 8 weeks to install a rebuilt motor. Paid a $4,000 deposit first week of Dec. Told me it would be done by Christmas, then New Years. Would not communicate with me. I had to keep calling for ETA. They took the week between Christmas and New Year off. No communication -- I found out when i called and was told that Andrew and the technician working on my truck had decided to take the week off. Then they promised me the truck would be ready by Friday Jan. 12. No communication. I had to call them. Nope not ready. New ETA: Tuesday Jan. 16. Nope, no communication. I had to call them. New ETA: Wed Jan. 17. Finally picked up my truck yesterday, Jan. 17. Paid $4,836.27. Then they take me to my truck which is running, idling, key in the ignition, in the middle of a public parking lot with no one attending it. Got in, drove it home. When I got home, I noticed, the driver side door lock is busted. They key in the ignition was not the original key I had given them. It was a new key. Today found out they "lost" my key. They had a new key made without my permission. When Andrew the location manager told me they had made a duplicate of my key, without first asking me, he had the audacity to say, "But you were'n't charged for it." When I asked to speak to his manager after that, Andrew refused to let me talk to his manager. First he told me he knew nothing about the situation. Then he told me he is the one who authorized the new key to be made. When I demanded to speak to his manager, he told me he he was not going to give me his manager's number. Spent almost $11,000.00 with this shop for them to deliver a DAMAGED VEHICLE to me TWICE. Do not use these scam artists. These people are unethical and dishonest. Worst shop I have ever been to. My dad was a mechanic and he never treated anyone like this. AAA Asheville should be ashamed. Avoid AAA in Asheville at all costs.

Negative experience: The Asheville branch closes to early and it isn't quicker or more helpful to call the line for help to only be told. You need to figure out an application through text and we will get to you when we can. Just take the damn help number down if that's how you want to interact with your customers

Negative experience: I have AAA and got my car towed here thinking it would be the best option. They quoted me 1350, for everything. I went to pick it up and it was over 1800 dollars. 500$ more than it was supposed to be. They said they had to do something else but never cleared it with me.

Fantastic experience: We were in a Hertz rental car in northern Canada with a dead battery. After three hours of Hertz roadside assistance promising help with no results we called AAA/CAA. In 20 minutes a truck was there to help. We were so glad we had AAA.

Fantastic experience: I had an incredible service experience at this AAA facility. My car got towed in with a no start condition. One of the technicians spent 10 minutes diagnosing and working on the car and got it started. I was able to continue my drive to Indianapolis and the most amazing part is that they would not allow me to pay for the repair or tip them. They just asked that I stop there for service the next time I was in town and in need of service work.

Negative experience: DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. I called, they told me they could look at my car in a couple of hours. I took it there early morning. At 5:39, I called because I'd heard nothing all day. They did not get it in to look at it but was told they had finished all their work and would look at it in the morning. Day 2, I called, still not in. Late afternoon, still nothing. Day 3 early morning again and I'm just here for work for a few days, so I go there, obviously frustrated by now. The guy at the desk is telling me that after 2 solid days, they still can't tell me when they can look at it. I leave, get in the car with my daughter who has come to my rescue. The guy comes walking through the lot, I think he's going to tell me they are going to get it in today. Instead, he hands me the key and says go somewhere else, cusses at me and threatens me. My daughter was flabbergasted and made me write this review to warn others. As a side note, took it to another shop, done in 2 hours for $150. Just insane how I was treated.

Fantastic experience: We stopped in to get an international driving permit. Parking was very difficult due to the cars waiting for service. We went in and were helped immediately. It was a simple process. They took the photos and I filled out the application. About 20 minutes for the whole process. The representative was very helpful and of course tried to sell me a AAA membership. There was no pressure and I politely declined. They also have travel services that you can take advantage of.

Negative experience: Don’t use AAA anymore (using ‘Good Sam’) as They’ve gotten too big for their britches! Don’t answer phone , use automated, hang up AND refuse to pay for what you have already paid for and do not provide services in a timely manner even in emergencies! Too many testimonies and horror stories ! They’re not the same ! See YouTube channel “Living the Dream” titled: “AAA Roadside Assistance 2022...”

Fantastic experience: I’ve only begun my services with this particular branch, but I can tell you from the other local auto repair shops that I’ve called previously interacted with recently for this particular problem with my car, I am so grateful to Bryan Cooper for being so patient with me and answering all of my questions, efficiently and effectively to the best of my lay person understanding. I will continue to use this company simply because of his outstanding customer service; even with it being a holiday weekend, he gave me time to talk my situation through with him. I wish I could give 10 stars to Mr. Cooper individually.

Fantastic experience: I am a big fan of AAA. We ve had several different cars serviced here over the past 7 years and we ve always been satisfied. Most recently we took a teardrop trailer tire in to be replaced because it was worn only on the inside part. The tech correctly diagnosed the problem as it was slightly canted toward the inside causing the tire to wear unevenly. The tire was ordered and ready the next day - a member disc was given and we were happy to pay a total of just $113. 00. If you are searching for a mechanic I highly recommend AAA. We haven’t used their travel services so I can’t comment on that aspect.

Fantastic experience: Andrew was very helpful and friendly! I came into AAA to get my cars battery checked out. I was not sure what was wrong with it but Andrew went above and beyond to make sure it was looked at before the end of their business day. He pointed out that it was an AAA battery and drove it back into their shop to verify if it was still under warranty. Turns out it was still under warranty! They replaced the battery for me and I was good to go in under an hour! Great customer service that was quick and painless. Again I want to shout out Andrew who got me taken care of before they closed for the day. I 100% would want to work with him next time I am needing assistance from AAA.

Positive experience: I went because a headlight was not working. I tried changing the bulb and that wasn't the problem . They charged $150 "diagnostic testing" to find a "loose connection" . They put in a new bulb . So that very minor problem cost $165.! I will find a local mechanic in future instead of a big "corporate mechanic".

Negative experience: Worst experience ever with a mechanic. Pricing is misleading, car was not ready, work was forgotten until I reminded staff after arriving to pick up my car, did not receive estimate/photos as promised, indicated I'd need a ride and was not offered.

Positive experience: Impressed. After mis-diagnosing an engine problem (ignition issue vs. internal valve train breakage), the manager didn't charge me anything, nothing, nada. Trust earned.

Forest Tapley 2 years ago

Negative experience: TERRIBLE RIP OFF, they will overcharge you by almost 400%!!! AND charge undisclosed diagnostics fee of $150 to get your car out of their terrible garage! Car wouldn't start on a Friday. My buddy has AAA and I checked with my mechanic who was a bit busy. AAA garage told us they might be able to look at it same day or the following, worst case scenario by Monday. They held my car hostage until Wednesday! Gave me a bad diagnosis (I asked my mechanic to order the part and do the ignition coil (AAA would have charged me $508 and wouldn't have fixed my problem!!) when I could get it to him the next day but it did not fix the problem, he ended up figuring it all out and got me back on the road in two days and it was just under $400 including the unnecessary ignition coil and the entire distributor assembly. Use AAA for towing, NEVER let them take it to one of their garages!

Megan Smith 2 years ago

Negative experience: We've been using AAA car care for about ten years now. We were loyal customers because they did good work, didn't try to sell us anything extra, and they were pretty friendly which all made up for them being pricier than other places we've been to. They must have come under new management sometime in the past five years because their service has declined ever since. Today was the last straw. We had our alternator replaced just after Christmas and had to get a new one because the one they initially put in didn't work. We had to leave our family vehicle there for two days and when I call to see if they can get me a ride there the man who answered was extremely rude, told me the system was down for their car service, and that sure my car was ready. I get there and it's not ready. The other man who talked to me gave no apologies for the obvious mistake on their part and even tried to get angry with me. I'm so tired of the toxic mechanic culture festering there; this place is not queer or women friendly.

Negative experience: I dropped off my truck in early December 2022 for leaf spring replacement. Took over a month with supply issues and covid I was very understanding and never mentioned it taking so long. When I picked it up today January 10th my truck was sitting unlocked at the end of the parking lot ransacked. When I went in to ask why they had left my truck unlocked and completely exposed they told me it was my fault for not picking it up last Tuesday when it was ready. But they didn't call me until Friday Jan 6th. To let me know it was ready for pick up. On top of that the tech said " what do you want us to do clean your truck". So basically don't go here they are negligent with vehicles and unprofessional liars.

Negative experience: This place is located in a very busy area with limited parking. We parked in an OPEN spot that was not labeled by any business (or Triple A). We park and get out of the car and a triple A employee comes out and tells us we can't park here because he needs these spots. Absolutely ridiculous you can't claim free unmarked parking spots and tell people they can't park here. Do not go here. They are extremely rude and unprofessional.

David Grinnell 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I told them what had happened then they told me what they thought was the problem and they were correct. They fixed the car perfectly and their observations and alerts were extremely helpful and appreciated. I have, in one experience, gone through all four stages of a customer (satisfied, repeat, exclusive, advocate)!

Fantastic experience: My car threw a belt and was towed in late Friday evening, done by 3 pm Saturday. They called as promised to keep me updated, everyone was incredibly nice, and they even re-set the clock on my dashboard. Breaking down sucks, but y'all helped a lot.

Fantastic experience: Dropped in to get a new battery installed and even though they were short staffed at the time, they took excellent care of my car and were very nice to me. I will definitely go back.

Negative experience: The man scheduling service was extremely difficult to work with. He did not look up the 22K mile service that I requested for my Hyundai. Instead, he ordered work that missed several inspection and replacement points. When the car was picked-up and the omissions were pointed out, he claimed that he had done all requisite service but had not charged me for some of the work. He offered to add those charges to the bill if I was not satisfied. His behavior was very unprofessional and felt like an effort to intimidate me.

Negative experience: NOTE: This review concerns AAA Carolinas’ TRAVEL DESK, not the Auto service department. We maintain a AAA Carolinas membership – and have done so for more than a decade – for three reasons. (1) roadside assistance and/or in-store auto service. When we’ve needed this service, it has been exceptional; no complaints whatsoever. (2) Currency exchange. When we’ve made visits abroad, we’ve exchanged some US currency ahead of time. Again, no problems. (3) Travel assistance. On this score, AAA Carolinas rates a 0/5. I needed some maps for a European country, so I checked online to verify the business hours of AA Carolinas on Merrimon Ave. in North Asheville. According to Google, Saturday hours are noted as 10am-4pm, with a note reading “Confirmed by this business 3 weeks ago.” So I got in my car and drove there. They were closed. Per a small sign taped to the inside door, the Travel desk is closed on Saturdays. SATURDAYS. You know, the day when people who work M-F 9-5 jobs are likely to visit their local AAA Carolinas office. Frustrated (and more than a bit annoyed) I went home and logged on to the AAA Carolinas site in hope of ordering maps that way. That part of the site is not functioning. So on the next Tuesday, in the middle of the business day, I took time out of work and again visited the AAA Carolinas office. Once I was able to speak to someone, I explained what I needed: two maps. “Nope,” was the reply. The customer service rep (I use that term in its loosest sense) ambled over to the cabinet and looked inside, and repeated, “Nope. We’re out.” somewhat shocked, I explained that (a) I had visited on Saturday to no avail and (b) tried to get the maps online. “We’re out of maps system-wide,” I was told, whatever that means. (The site didn’t function well enough to even ascertain what I wanted, so it’s hard to square that explanation.) Quite annoyed by this point, I asked (as politely as I could muster) what was the deal with a travel desk being closed on Saturdays. “We’re closed on Saturdays until at least November,” I was told. No further information was offered. Actually, that’s not quite right. “What you need to do,” the customer rep counseled me, “is go to Barnes and Noble…” I cut her off. “If I’m going to have to spend money to do this, I’ll figure it out on my own, thanks.” In sum, my two in-person and one online experiences with AAA Carolinas’ travel department have been complete and utter wastes of my time. Sadly, I just renewed my membership a week ago. For what, I can only wonder.

Negative experience: We were traveling and our AC went out in August. We called around and AAA Asheville said they could look at it. We dropped it off for 2 full days and paid for a rental in the meantime. We made it clear we when we were leaving and called 3 times over the 2 days to ask about it. They gave us the impression they looked at it but still needed to run a diagnostic. We arrived about 30 mins before closing on the second day and found out they never really looked at it or ran the diagnostic. So we had to travel 7 hours back home with no AC! If they didn’t have time to look at it they never should have taken it in. Terrible service!

Fantastic experience: Just took my car in on a Saturday without an appointment because one headlight was burned out. The guys were so nice, replaced the bulb in an instant in the parking lot. Thanks so much!! I always get great service from the Merrimon AAA.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this facility for the most comprehensive and expeditious automotive service that I have experienced. My The service managers and the technicians are all customer oriented professionals. I trust all of my automotive needs to AAA.

Negative experience: If you value money and time, do not take your vehicle here. I had my car towed with a dead battery and ended up getting a good bit of work done. It wasn't necessary but it was recommenced. I had to go back on 3 different occasions and the alignment for the new tires I bought was still not right. I am going to take my care to someone else I trust and won't ever go back here again. It is unfortunate that they are considered to be a part of the AAA program.

Fantastic experience: I had a great customer service experience from Bryan Cooper! Another place had misdiagnosed my car, claiming my car had a dead alternator. After a complimentary diagnostic it was determined that my battery and the alternator were fine. He just earned my future business! Thank you for the wonderful service!

Negative experience: When the car broke down on New Years Day, loosing all the power steering fluid , thought to use my new AAA card for a tow. That went well. I live 50 miles from AVL don’t know the garages, so told the driver to take it to the AAA garage. Told the desk guy that the fluid was gone, that another bottle poured right through to end up on the ground. Later that afternoon I received a call indicating that it would cost $800 to fix the radiator. Had the car towed away to another place,

Negative experience: We have had AAA for well over 30 years and have always appreciated the ability to order maps and tour books. We have only used the towing or other services a few times in all of these years so this was the service we used and valued for our annual fee. I called the Asheville Office on Feb. 1 to order maps and tour books. I was told I could order maps but the tour books were now on-line. I gave the person the list of maps we would need for our road trips this year and she said she would get them to me. I told her our first trip was Feb. 12 and she said that should not be a problem. Today is Feb. 11 and they had not arrived. I called the office again and the person I talked with said they “don’t send maps out” and they had to be ordered “online”. Interesting I was told something different by the same office 10 days ago. She said that was just the way it is and she was the newest person in the office so anyone else would have known that. Customer service seems to have gone by the wayside with AAA. You would think they would work better with us that are long term members and may not be as internet savvy. I am truly disappointed in not being able to call and request maps and tour books! I would hope folks would be more considerate of our senior population.

Negative experience: Brought in my vehicle because the VSC light was flashing. After paying the $129 diagnosis fee, AAA revealed two of my tires tread was so worn I'm comparison to the other two, they needed replacement. Well,$700+ later the light comes on again less than 24hrs later. Now they say it must be one of the sensors the couldn't check yesterday.... They ask my pregnant wife to go to Advanced Autoparts to buy the part with her own money and then they'd install it free of charge. So, now, two days in, $800 later. The associate laughs at me when I ask for my old tires back because that was misdiagnosed and I didn't need tires right away. This place crawls with lack of customer service. I've filed a complaint with the Corporate Office. I'll NEVER come back here again.

Fantastic experience: I recommend the mechanics at AAA. They are very honest and truth worthy about the issues going on in the car and the prices, also you get a discount on labor if you're a member. If you need a reliable mechanic, these are your guys!

Fantastic experience: The whole staff is amazing and helpful. I had a unexpected flat tire. Used my AAA membership to have it towed to the AAA service center and they took care of it for me. While I was expecting a really large bill....but it was only $42. Very pleased and will start using the AAA service center as my regular garage.

Fantastic experience: I was on my way home from Knoxville to Greensboro on the morning of 12/21 when I found my temp gauge showing an overheating condition. Although I knew I wasn’t overheating but simply having a spot where a pocket of air was moving through the system I pulled over to alleviate the gauge condition. Upon stopping I noticed a large amount of steam coming from under my hood and under the vehicle and discovered that I had a pinhole leak in the spider/octopus coolant line running around and behind my engine. Used my AAA membership and got towed to the AAA in Asheville. I first encountered Bryan Cooper who honestly was not very sure at all they would be able to look at or do anything to my vehicle until next week. He didn’t let this stop his efforts and he went and checked the car out and partnered with his service manager to make sure to squeeze me in. It was a lengthy process but much welcomed over the alternative of a weeks long wait and having to have my wife drive 2-1/2 hours to come get me. The staff kept me updated and entertained throughout and I was able to get quite a bit of work done to help pass the time. Whether you are a local or just passing through and in need of service give these guys a chance. The shop and waiting area are large, clean and as comfortable as those things can be plus there are a couple restaurants and 3 grocery stores close as well. Thank you to the AAA Asheville team, I won’t forget what you did for me and when I need service in the future a AAA shop will be the first place I look.

Negative experience: I had made an appointment on line. When I arrived I was told we would have an hour and a half wait before they could get us in. I said I had an appointment for 8:30. He said that just saved a slot and that it did not mean the car would be serviced at that time. (No apologies!) We had to get on the road, so to the worker's credit, he referred us to Valvoline down the road. It's going to take a half hour; we're waiting in the car and they have checked the lights, the cabin filter, and topped all the fluids. I'm spending some money here, but it's worth it. I'm reconsidering my AAA membership.

James Kemp 3 years ago

Negative experience: Spent nearly $600 on a front wheel hub replacement and alignment. When I picked up my car the alignment specs were missing. How convienent! They said they forgot to save them electronically, and print them out so I had no way of knowing the results of the alignment or, if the alignment was even performed. I was charged $110 for this service. The manager told me to come back early Monday morning (7:30am) and he would put the car on the rack an document the alignment. He said I would be in and out in 30 minutes. I dropped the car off at 7:30am. At 2:30 I went back and the car was never worked on. I guess taking care of new customers ($$$) is a priority over taking care of work that is already paid for but not finished. The manager didn't seem to care that I was not happy about my experience.

Jeanette Jackson 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Top Notch. Once I asked them to check the alignment when I got a new tire. They could have taken advantage and sold me an alignment but they told me I didn't need one. That's why I keep coming back. They are fair.

Negative experience: Overall this Triple A is very solid. Kind of pricey but the mechanics almost always do great work. My only issue is with one employee who works in the front who doesn’t seem to listen to anything you tell him and doesn’t seem to know anything whatsoever about cars. He lost my car keys on multiple occasions and was asked give notes for callbacks from the much more competent employees but never does. He isn’t able to give you worst or best case scenarios on what problems your car has and on several occasions I’ve told him what part I will need to be ordered to fix my car but did not order it causing my car to have to sit there for an extra two days while they got the part in.

Stephanie C. 3 years ago

Negative experience: I have been going here for years and thought I was getting honest and good service. I was just recommended to have some work done on my car and because of the high cost I price checked the work and the recommendation. It turns out they recommended some thing that is not needed on the car and if it were another reputable Mechanic would charge less than half the price. I will not be coming back.

Fantastic experience: Slid into a ditch and couldn't get out. Called my insurance company - I was on the phone for 25 minutes. Hung up and called AAA. They sent service out right away. Hatton Towing did a great job and I was safe and home in 15 minutes.

Fantastic experience: Since I have an older car, I use this Center already for three years. The frontstaff as well as the mechanics are very helpful, honest and always give good advise. I would recommend them anytime. I was only surprised when the oil change costs me 70 Dollars instead of your advertised 59.99. I might call them again.

Amy Knisley 4 years ago

Positive experience: Overall great work! Place was clean and comfortable, people were clear and good natured, service went well. Will definitely use them again. Only small thing was that when I initially walked in they asked me what service I was there for, when it was in the appointment I made online. Very small wrinkle, not a biggie.

Fantastic experience: If I could give them 10 starts I would. These guys are very competent and offer outstanding customer service. Just ask for Big G when you go in. My engine light came on at the onset of our 10 day vacation. Ran very rough. Was able to get the car to this this service center the next afternoon. First thing next morning, received call with estimate. It was fixed and ready for pickup within 3 hours. And we were back in vacation mode in just a matter of hours. Thanks Big G & AAA team at 178 Merriman Ashville, NC.

Negative experience: very upset with AAA ASHEVILLE located on 178 merrimon ave asheville, nc. i called yesterday at a little past 8 am. i wanted them to change my oil and put a new set of plugs and ignition coils on. i wanted to see how much they would charge to do that for me. it's nearly 1 pm today and still no return phone call with an answer. tell me how that's real and true customer service.

Fantastic experience: I recently had an emergency while vacationing in Asheville and visited the AAA store. I was blown away by the genuine care, professionalism and immediate action taken by the staff. Brian was amazing and they helped us in under 45 minutes. They could tell we were worried and kept us updated the entire time. I can’t recommend this location and their top-notch customer service enough!!!

Fantastic experience: Brian was excellent. We were traveling from Fayetteville NC to Asheville and our check engine light came on. Brian took care of us and was extremely professional. He did a great job at communicating with us the issues and ensured all of our membership perks were taken advantaged of.

Fantastic experience: The people were great to work with, nice and professional. The work they did on my car was great. I wish I could remember who I dealt with because he did such a great job taking care of me.

Fantastic experience: The service was great all of the employees were incredibly friendly and helpful. My car died on me and I had it towed here. They immediately got to work inspecting the problem. Unfortunately the damage to my car couldn't be fixed but they didn't charge me for anything but a diagnostic. They showed great integrity and honesty by letting me know they couldn't fix it and not attempting repairs just to charge me. I really appreciated the great service and will definitely be using their services again should I need any work done on my car!

Fantastic experience: I live in Charlotte. I was visiting my daughter in Asheville. Twenty minutes away from Asheville, my tire light came on. Im a AAA member, so as soon as I arrived in Asheville, I stopped at this AAA location. Andrew was so helpful! He checked all of my tires & filled them correctly with air. He was very professional, friendly and SO kind to help me. I was traveling alone & had to make the drive back to Charlotte that evening. Thankful for his help!!! Because of his service, my daughter will use this location for her car maintenance/service in the future. I can’t thank Andrew enough!! I drove back to Charlotte that evening, stress free and safe! Thanks again Andrew!!!

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place!! The employees are all so nice, responsive, and talented. They take their work serious and have gone above and beyond to take care of me and my car. I am so happy I switched to their car care center.

Negative experience: Do not patronize corporate shops. It is a racket. I had a no start condition and paid over $600 to have an EGR valve replaced, which I felt like wasn't the issue but was busy and desperate. Broke down on the highway a week later. Took to the forums and turns out it was the ignition cylinder, a $50 fix. Also saw an elderly woman crying in the waiting room because of all the repairs they said she needed that she couldn't afford. It's really sickening the way these places operate in such a predatory fashion. I only keep a membership for in case I break down in the desert, but even then you'll wait 8 eternities for a tow to get there.

Fantastic experience: Recently got my dodge journey fixed and I believe it was Brian who helped me through the process. He was great and informative and all the staff were helpful. Rate was good for what we needed. My go to car repair place.

Negative experience: I went to pick my car up after having the brake lines replaced. I noticed immediately that there was damage to the front left fender. It was clearly fresh as there was both paint and a metal shaving hanging off from where it was damaged. When I showed one of their service members, the manager stuck his head out the door and yelled “it came in like that” and basically told me to get lost. I made him look at it and his response was “oh” (he didn’t know what I was talking about until he saw it). He was incredibly disrespectful and treated me like garbage until he realized that I was correct. The customer service team was very professional, except for the manager. I work in mechanical service and have never seen a “manager” behave so poorly to a customer.

Positive experience: These guys are awesome! I had a unique problem with my vehicle and Graham and Andrew researched it with their technicians and finally diagnosed the correct repair. It took several tries and they ended up having to contact the local Chrysler dealership for the correct diagnosis. It was a strange problem, but they persisted and it had a happy ending thanks to them! I highly recommend them for car repairs. I have been using them ever since the Merrimon location opened and I have always been satisfied, but this time they went above and beyond the call of duty!

Fantastic experience: The only mechanic I trust. They care about my 1987 pickup like it's their own. Stellar attitude plus reasonable prices (and fabulous warranties). I do miss their shuttle service but they'll get you a Lyft if you need one.

natalie shepp 4 years ago

Negative experience: First of all I just want to say that I have been a triple AAA member for years, and it's not ok to be treated this way. I had to get automotive work done. And after they added all this BS fees, of services that I didn't really need, I made them take these things off! They will upcharge you, and then try to Gaslight you when you get the bill. Secondly, I told them that I only had a certain time I could fill out an application, to receive a Triple AAA card. It was understood. when I went inside after work to fill out an application, And none of their equipment for filling out an application, for a card were working!! None of them! They were not prepared at all. I sat there for nearly 30 minutes patiently as the lady ran around I can find a way to fill out my application. it dragged on and on, and when they couldn't fill out my application, they told me to come back the next day period at some point they pulled it up, and had even more trouble period after this my car was basically held hostage, even though it wasn't my fault and they were the ones having technical difficulties. The store basically closed around me, and when I walked out to try to calm down because things had escalated, I was locked out of the building. The lack of professionalism and customer service was absolutely appalling, and I will never deal with this AAA again. They were very rude and unprofessional! And when I spoke to the manager, I was basically told that I shouldn't have gotten service done if I couldn't pay for it. He was so rude and condescending on the phone. this needs to be reported, because I've been a member for years and nobody should be treated this way, because none of this was my fault. They did absolutely NOTHING to recompense the situation, or try to satisfy the customer! Just awful. And unprofessional!

Fantastic experience: Our thanks to Randy Vera (manager) Ronnie, Buckner, and to everyone in the department that have provided us with excellent service. I believe that your company appreciates each one of you for your commitment & devotion. Everyone is so friendly & courteous thx to all. We’re from another state when our van broke down on 8/26/20. We’re so grateful for all accommodations provided. Van runs smooth, drove back to Fl with ease.
