Fantastic experience: What an experience. This was one of the most amazing trips I've ever gone on. From the white glove five star service when you touchdown in Africa, to the beautiful accommodations, thoughtful gifts, knowledgeable and hilarious guides, Micato delivered with flying colors on this highly anticipated trip. Seeing all the wildlife throughout Kenya and Tanzania in style is the only way I wish to ever do a safari again. It's very difficult to describe the sense of joy I had waking up every morning ready for a new adventure. Your guides become your family and you dread having the journey come to an end from the very first day you begin. We stayed at some of the most beautiful glamping I've stayed in at Loisaba and Maasai Mara and at couple of resorts overlooking the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti that I could take pictures of all day long. We had a quite a few surprise bush lunches and dinners while enjoying the peaceful wildlife roaming around us. This was the first time I was served some fine lobster in the middle of nowhere while watching giraffes and elephants off in the distance! What a treat! And it is worth every penny. I'm sure I will be returning again in the future for another Micato adventure. Thank you Micato for a brilliant trip.

Fantastic experience: I am back a little over two weeks from my enchanting trip to Kenya on a Micato Safari. It was an incredible experience. The check ins before the trip with email and social media postings coupled with gifts built up my excitement . This was the biggest adventure I ever undertook and it far outshone anything I could imagine. Every detail was taken care off . The staff were friendly and well prepared in making sure this “newbie” got the most out of the trip. Fantastic experience: Wow, wow, wow! I just finished a 10-day Micato Safari to Kenya and Tanzania and it was over-the-top perfect. Our safari guide, George, made sure that no detail was left to chance. Everything ran on time (which is not usual for a group). Our camps and hotels were top notch - hard to pick just one but Hemingway's in Nairobi and the Elewana Sand River Masai Mara camp were probably my favorites. Of course, no animal sightings are guaranteed - but we saw all of the Big 5 - not just once but over and over again. I happen to love birds and was not expecting to see so many different (and beautiful) species. That was due to the skill of our safari vehicle drivers expertise (and very sharp eyes). Every day it was clear as to the reasons Micato is rated #1 by Travel & Leisure (which was one of the reasons we chose Micato). - other safari groups had box lunches while we had a beautiful table under a tent with a chef grilling our lunch! I can't wait to go back!

Fantastic experience: I recently did the Grand Safari Tour with Micato. To put things into perspective, I have just returned from my 36th trip to Vietnam and China. I am a very experienced traveler. I have visited 52 different countries. The Micato Grand Safari was, without doubt, the best trip of my life!!! I can’t say enough about Miicato’s program, attention to detail, and overall class. I researched other tour companies and happily chose Micato! From the 5 Star “Camps” to the incredible food and drink provided, to the absolutely amazingly knowledgeable tour director and local guides!!! Everything was amazing. The itinerary kept us busy, but that is why we were there!! A great example is when we were on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. Probably the most densely populated Game Area in Africa. There had to be forty other tour companies in the Crater that day. At lunch time, all of those tour companies were serving box lunches on crowded picnic tables bunched together around the rest room. Meanwhile, the two Micato Tours were served a Full Spread Buffet Lunch with a Full Bar. We had lunch under large wedding type tents with white table cloth covered tables, silver service, and fresh cut flowers with no other groups in sight. Plus a full group of servers. They even bought “Water Closets” so we didn’t have to use the public facilities. That exemplifies the Micato difference. Everything is first class. If anyone can afford it, there is no other Safari operator at their level. I would add that the accommodations are all 5 Star. Their choice of “Camps” can only be called Spectacular. The Crater Rim Lodge Room and Dining Room were the most unique and eclectic places I have ever been in the world!! Some additional Points: *The Itinerary was perfect!! Busy but we saw a lot. Each of the 5 Five “Camps” were small and unique – except The Serengeti Four Seasons, which was a welcome different style. *The Tour guide accompanied us all the time and everywhere, We were never left on our own. When we realized we had forgotten to get Yellow Fever Cards to enter Tanzania, he was able to procure some. The local guides were fun and knowledgeable!! * The Food and Drink was a great blend of Western Cuisine blended with Local Dishes. The local Beers were incredible. * Before the Trip, we received lots of fun and necessary things for our trip. At every Camp and almost everyday, we received in our room a complimentary souvenir pertinent to that locale. * I have replacement knees and very bad Neuropathy in my feet making it difficult for me to walk on uneven surfaces and navigate steps without handrails. I was never unable to participate in an event including flights in the 12 passenger planes. My mobility issues were never a problem. * At 66 years old I was able to witness the sunrise over the Serengeti from a Hot Air Balloon!!

Fantastic experience: Our African Splendour trip with Micato Safaris was nothing short of extraordinary - from start to finish, the Micato team delivered seamless, luxurious and deeply enriching experience that went so far above and beyond our expectations. Starting with Ariel who we worked with to book our trip, to every since staff person who so generously hosted and guided us - every moment was memorable. The attention to detail was incredible. Dexter was our guide in Cape Town - he brought Cape Town to live with his in-depth knowledge and passion for the history and socio-cultural landscape - the penguins, the wineries, the Cape of Good Hope - Dexter's in-depth knowledge about each location added so much meaning to each sight. Dexter's warmth and genuine care for us made this trip phenomenal. Wasfie was brilliant as well - the two of them were outstanding! In Zimbabwe, we were hosted Werner who guided us through the Elephant Cafe, and the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls - as well as a dinner cruise on the Zambezi river which was incredible. His insights into local culture, biology, wildlife and more made this an exceptional stop. we could talk for days and days about our experience with Steven, our guide through Kenya and Tanzania. Brilliant - absolutely brilliant. Steven held a deep wisdom and knowledge about the lands and creatures - his ability to navigate our group and pay attention to our unique personalities - his humour, intellect - over the top! the three guides we worked with were hired for their incredible skills, and were so well connected - because of their fulsome extraordinary attention to details, all of the travel was smooth and seamless. the hotels that were selected for this particular safari were outstanding. the staff at all of the hotels were incredibly generous and welcoming. There were so many little surprises along the way that just made the whole trip so special. All of the drivers were so incredibly skilled - their ability to track the animals and tell us what was happening (e.g., we just saw baboons, they knew the baboons were about to hunt a leopard); we felt incredibly safe - they were all a seamless team. we also had the incredible treat to meet one of the founders - Jane Pinto while in Nairobi - her deep passion, care and commitment for her company and our wellbeing, her graciousness as a host was inherent! there is so much more to say about this company - we are already planning our next trip with Micato with a couple of new locations - they are a treasure - thank you!

Fantastic experience: My Micato Safari to Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia was truly a trip of a lifetime! So many highlights including a standoff with two female lions and their six cubs with 1000’s of Cape buffalo. The Micato service was exceptional and covered everything from the moment I stepped off the plane until leaving to come home.

Fantastic experience: The Micato Safari to India was amazing!! I went on the Soul of India excursion and saw so much of the dichotomy of wealth and poverty. Our guide was not only knowledgeable but conveyed a passion for the history and the people. The accommodations were five star and the most luxurious I have ever experienced. And with everything included, even tips and laundry, it was stress free in every way. Sixteen days was too short.

Fantastic experience: Micato India was as seamless as Micato África. They had the answer before I even had the question. I felt like a VIP for the entire trip! When I landed in India after my 19 hours of flights, I was met right outside the airplane door & whisked thru passport control/customs while others stood in long lines. And when I got to baggage claim, Micato already had my bags. They had 2 professional photographers who accompanied us at the Taj Mahal & we each got about 20 free pics. And same in India’s palace. It was simply amazing!

Fantastic experience: From the moment we made our first phone call to Micato until we boarded our final flight, everything ran according to plan. Chelsea Burke was our US coordinator and was a delight to work with. I would highly recommend asking for her to be your "go-to" agent. She went above and beyond on several instances and this became even more apparent when we discussed details with other members of our safari group who did not receive some of the "extras" during the planning process like we did. Denis Maina was our guide throughout our entire time in Africa. He was kind, patient, extremely knowledgeable and a wealth of information. He made our trip that much more wonderful. My husband grew up in Kenya and this was not our first time returning to that beautiful country. In fact, it was our 5th trip there over the past 30 years. We made several of the trips by planning it ourselves, but as we've aged, decided to have someone else do the planning! Three years ago we used another travel company and while they were also good, their service didn't even come close to that of Micato. If you're considering Africa or India, Micato should be your first phone call! Mrs. Pinto even greeted our group upon arrival. What a wonderful company to work with. So many special "treats" along the way. And they took the worry out of every detail that you normally worry about!

Fantastic experience: The Micato Safari my wife and I were blessed to participate in was a wonderful and life affirming experience. From the first call we made to Chelsea (Micato Office), we were well and professionally taken care of. Micato does an excellent job of making you comfortable before you even board the plane! Carin, the young lady who bookended our trip by getting us started and seeing us off in Nairobi, was the perfect first contact. Our drivers were helpful and personable. It was quite a thrill to meet Mrs. Pinto as we were beginning our excursion. All the details from food to housing to laundry to scheduling were handled in a seamless manner and were of the absolute highest quality. In particular, our safari guide, Peter Kintai, was absolutely spectacular. A list of all the wonderful touches he brought to our trip would be long indeed. He was knowledgeable and entertaining and made the whole experience exceptional. You will see every possible animal and be immersed in the culture of the region. The drivers and guide are very good at getting you in position for perfect photographs. My wife and I have been home for a month yet speak of this trip every day. I can’t recommend Micato enough!!

Fantastic experience: If I could give Micato more than 5 stars, I would. My experience on safari with them was amazing. The service from everyone was impeccable. We started working with Megan Button to book our safari and she was incredibly patient and helpful. She helped us decide which itinerary was most suited to what we wanted and she made sure we had everything we needed before we left. When we arrived in Nairobi we were met by the Micato concierge Mercy who made us feel so welcome and handled everything for us while we were there. It was comforting to know that if we needed anything at all she would be happy to help. Meeting Mrs. Pinto the first day of our safari was so nice. She recommended a place to buy some art and a tanzanite stone so I felt comfortable buying things from that store. Our safari director, Tito (Titus) was amazing. He was with us every step of the way and was always making sure we were comfortable, knew where we should be, arranging special things for us to see and do as well as giving us photography lessons that helped us take home some unbelievable photos. I cannot recommend Tito enough. He was very knowledgeable about every animal and bird we saw and was just a lot of fun to be with. All of our driver guides were great, especially George and Alphonso. They handled the vehicles expertly and knew the areas we were in well so we were able to see as many different animals as possible. The small extra touches and gifts along the way were just icing on the cake. It was a vacation I will never forget and I'm already trying to decide where to go next.

Fantastic experience: Micato is hands down the best luxury tour company - after going on a safari with them 12 years ago we just experienced India with Micato and could not have asked for anything more. Every detail is considered and taken care of to perfection - sites/itinerary, accommodations, transportation and meals. But most importantly, Micato’s tour guides and specifically Hem Singh, are phenomenal- unbelievably knowledgeable, personable, and a joy to be around. If you’re interested in seeing India (or going on a Safari) you must do it with Micato!

Fantastic experience: Jambo Jambo! (Hello! Hello!) Wow! There aren't enough words to express the wonders of our photo safari to Tanzania during August 2024. One has to experience it for themselves. One can watch NatGeoWild yet it’s nothing like being there! The organization and care from Micato Safaris in preparation for our trip, shepherded by Bonnie Philbrick and Prachi Duttta stateside, was excellent. They kept us fully apprised for the months of planning we started in the fall of 2023. From the minute we arrived at Kilimanjaro Airport, Nuru Mbise, our exceptionally great guide and director, was with us every step of the way. A couple times when he wasn't able to be at the Legendary Lodge, Josephine of Micato stepped in for him, and was always available to help with a smile. She was also present many other times, especially for our departure from the Arusha Coffee Lodge. At the Legendary Lodge, a shout out to the staff; Ally and Ishmael were exceptionally wonderful. We arrived late at night and they still had us sit for dinner (when we expected the kitchen to be closed.) All the food was delicious and the service during our 3 day stay was impeccable. Nuru kept traveling friends Mike & Carolyn, David and myself together in the same vehicle since we came together. There were two more vehicles in our cohesive group for a total of 13 very nice people. We traveled halfway around the world to meet a couple near our own neighborhood! Abdul was our driver most of the time, and did an outstanding job. Abdul took charge when Nuru rotated between three vehicles. Abdul's knowledge of birds is tremendous, and he and Nuru have the sharpest vision; they can see and identify animals before anybody. At our last destination, the Migration Camp in Serengeti, Halfani was our driver who also did a great job. Nuru was friendly, accommodating, helpful, knowledgeable. He also brought some luck, as he said there were several things we saw that he hadn't encountered in years. We were surprised over and over again by the people, animals, views, picnics, service... everything. Fantastic! It raises the expression OMG to a whole new level. We highly recommend Micato Safaris... there is great added value in every seamless step! Its funny…Africa was originally not high on our bucket list. But returning to Africa with Micato Safaris is #1. We will be back! Our Tanzania Spectacular Tour was truly SPECTACULAR! Our only recommendation is to split up the trip. The flights are long and the jet lag can be brutal. Next time we will stay in Amsterdam a couple of days, then arrive in Africa a couple of days before the safari starts to acclimate! The return flight will be broken up as well. Our 40 hours to return was not very nice...even if first class... Asante sana! (Thank you very much!) Deborah & David

Fantastic experience: Returned recently from their Botswana Wildness safari. No detail for our trip was too small. The Micato Guides were fantastic, seeing to our every need or request. The staff at all the camps were also there to ensure our comfort and maximizing our game drive experiences. The Okavango Delta is an amazing place and Micato made sure we were having an equally amazing time.

Fantastic experience: Going on a safari brings a lot of expectations with it , but who your Safari operator is pretty much decides the outcome of the trip . If you do not truly engage experts guiding you , and seeing to the 101 details pre, during and post trip you are making a huge mistake . After much research our group of 8 decided on MICATO . Now that we are back , it was one of the best decisions we have ever made as it relates to travel . The attention to detail , the quality of accommodations , food and beverage ,all nothing but superlatives , but we have all seen great logistical companies . The true highlight of Micato is their people : from Leigh Rice with her travel and logistical magic , with her “ the answer is yes , what is your question “ attitude to Wesley our travel director who is a fountain of information , full of good humor , but never losing his focus on the task at hand , and all the Amazing guides drivers and other logistical team that were there for us ( many behind the scenes ,when we needed them , always with a smile and a “Can Do,” attitude . Not to mention Mrs Pinto , bless her heart for coming to greet us with the COO of Micato in Nairobi. While a trip with Micato is not for the faint at heart ($$$) BUT worth every penny . This was a life altering experience , a trip of a lifetime , in significant part due to Micato . We salute you and Thank You !!!!

Fantastic experience: There are few words that can describe the amazing, and I mean amazing experience we had with Micato on our custom, private tour to Kenya--in celebration of my daughter's 30th birthday. Every detail from the planning through the return home (and we were sad to leave) were impeccable. Fantastic experience: We just got back from our Micato Safari, the Grand Safari, with the Victoria Falls and Cape Town extensions. All we can say is “wow.” Micato exceeded our expectations, from the pre-trip consolations (thank you Nick Schroer) to ushering us through the airport in Cape Town where we sadly had to go home. We were treated like movie stars the entire time. The Grand Safari was magnificent, the deluxe camps and lodges were amazing, with the animals walking through the grounds, exceptional staff, and delicious food. Our Safari Director, Wesley Korir, and our drivers made sure we saw all the big five, (up close and personal) and they took extra efforts to make sure we saw the elusive cheetah and a beautiful leopard cub. Wesley was an outstanding Safari Director, he guided us through the entire safari with outstanding knowledge of the wildlife and entertained us with his stories. He made sure all our needs were met, surprising us with sundowners, lunches in the bush, and a special dinner outside on our last night in the Maasai Mara. Mercy, our Safari concierge, handled our stay in Nairobi effortlessly and our departure from Nairobi was smooth. In Victoria Falls, Lizell Nieuwoudt and our driver, expertly showed us the beautiful falls which included a lovely sunset cruise down the Zambezi River, and seamlessly escorted us between Zambia and Zimbabwe. In Cape Town, Deon Alexander and our driver Wilson ensured our stay was informative and entertaining and they deserve special praise for taking us to some of the best restaurants in Cape Town, and waited for us until we were done to make sure we got back to our hotel safely. And, Yaseen Fisher, our concierge in Cape Town handled our stay at the One and Only expertly. Micato has perfected the art of travel, everything is included, dinners at lovely restaurants, balloon and helicopter rides, complementary massages, laundry as often as you need, special gifts, (including celebrating our anniversary in multiple locations) and most of all they have the best people working for them, we can’t wait to take another trip with them.

Fantastic experience: I went on a three week safari with my sister through Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania. Fantastic experience: Embarking on an Micato African safari was truly the adventure of a lifetime! We received several emails and communications from Meg, a Micato Safari Specialist on getting us set up for our trip. She answered our questions and even anticipated questions we didn’t know we had. Se helped set up a surprise birthday celebration for one of our group members which was a very nice touch. Micato even provided the luggage we needed to use. Meg set us up for a journey we will never forget! She’s amazing. From the moment we touched down, we were met by a Micato team member who helped us through customs and TSA. We had one suitcase that didn’t make it and the Micato staff stuck with it until it finally arrived. They secured our luggage and got us to our hotel. They pretty much handled everything for us. After a short night stay, we were off on our adventure. We were Immersed in the awe-inspiring beauty and vibrant wildlife of the African plains. Our journey took us through sprawling savannas, lush wetlands, and rugged terrains, each teeming with incredible biodiversity. The highlight, of course, was the wildlife. Watching lions and cheetahs prowl through the grass, elephants move majestically in herds, and giraffes graze gracefully under the vast African sky was surreal. The thrill of seeing a rhino grazing at dusk and the thousands of wildebeest and other animals is something words can’t fully capture. Each moment felt like a page out of a nature documentary. Our guide, Mr Brown was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, sharing fascinating insights into the ecosystem and the intricate behavior of the animals. His expertise ensured we not only witnessed 4 of the “Big Five” but also learned about the smaller, often-overlooked creatures that play vital roles in the environment. The leopard was elusive and it wasn’t because we weren’t trying to find one. This certainly will mean we need to visit again. Reading other reviews of Micato, each felt their guide was the best. We all strongly feel Mr Brown was hands down the best! Our accommodations were equally unforgettable. Luxurious yet harmoniously integrated with nature, they provided breathtaking views and the perfect retreat after each day’s exploration. Falling asleep to the distant roars of lions and waking up to the calls of birds and monkeys made the experience even more immersive. It was surprising to us to learn the drivers and the camps we stayed in weren’t “Micato”. They all worked seamlessly and in unison with each other. They were a well oiled machine. Fantastic experience: Our expectations for an amazing experience of a lifetime were exceeded by Micato Safaris! Every detail was taken care of for us so that my husband and I were able to relax and simply enjoy the safari adventure of a lifetime in Kenya and Tanzania. Our guide, Henry, was so friendly and knowledgeable, and made sure we were thoroughly enjoying our safari. We were amazed at how many animals and birds we saw each game drive and how close we were able to get to them. Every Micato staff person, concierge, drivers, office staff, were so friendly and helpful, and answered every question and handled every request quickly. I was even able to let go of my fears of small planes and heights because there were no details to worry about, I just had time to relax and enjoy myself. Fantastic experience: Our family spent 2 weeks on the Hemingway Safari with Micato! We had a fabulous time. All 8 of us had smiles on our faces for the entire time! Our tour guide...Papa Lew...was the best. He took care of everything and always remembered the smallest details that I had requested before we embarked on our trip to Africa. Every place we visited was special. We loved our guides. They were so knowledgeable and helpful. We learned so much about the animals and their habits and animal families! One of our favorite experiences was pulling up to our private BBQ picnic lunch in the crater. The Micato group arranged this beautiful picnic with the staff from the Melia hotel. Each family in our group had their own tables set up and we had a canvas awning protecting us from the heat. There was a bar set up with liquor as well as fresh juices, veggies, meats and even lobster! Of course there were plenty of desserts too. There were even baboons watching us from the trees! It was a very special lunch. Micato made sure to celebrate birthdays in the month we were there as well as the other families on the trip. I can't say enough about this group. Everyone we encountered were so lovely and helpful. The camps we stayed at were extraordinary! The "tents" did not feel like tents once you were in them. They were huge! We had a sitting room in 3 of the 4 camps we stayed in and the bathrooms were incredible! The reason we went was to see the animals in their natural habitat living their lives as they were supposed to! That exceeded our expectations. We are spoiled forever and hope to one day use Micato again when we travel to Africa or India. Our cheer for Papa Lew! Papa Lew! Papa Lew! Fantastic experience: Micato delivered an adventure of a lifetime!! We decided on taking our African Safari with Micato for my wife's birthday after extensive research. We narrowed it down to 3 different companies, but ultimately decided on the best in the business. Micato far exceeded all of our expectations! They went above and beyond to make our experience a memorable one. Their attention to detail is second to none and was thoughtful planned. Even when a potential issue arised, Micato handled it and turned it into a positive. One example of this is, I'm 6'4" and another guest was 6'7", Micato called ahead to the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater to have the front row of seats removed from the safari jeep! If you are deciding on a luxury safari experience look no further, you won't be disappointed!!

Fantastic experience: My mom and I have used Micato for 2 trips, the Tanzania Spectacular in 2022 and the Palaces of India earlier this year, 2024. Fantastic experience: Micato Safaris get a five-star review from us! We recently traveled on a safari with them to Tanzania and Kenya. Our trip started off eventful with the realization, at the outbound airport, that we had left our required insulin at home. We reached out to Micato in a panic! Micato employees Meg and Virginia came to the rescue! They went to work while we were in the air and met us at the airport in Kenya with the required medicines. Their quick actions saved us from canceling our trip! The excellent customer service and quality of the company continued to be realized throughout the trip. The connections from one camp to the next were worry free and efficient. I do not believe we could have managed the logistics of this type of adventure without the professional experience of Micato. I particularly enjoyed the quality of the resorts and the meals. The safari picnics, champagne at the air strip, indigenous gifts at each lodge and quality of the staff were outstanding! Fantastic experience: Our family of four had an incredible and memorable Tanzania Spectacular trip with Micato. While you are not guaranteed to see the Big Five on any safaris, we saw all of them, plus so much more. We saw lions running, mating, resting, stalking and devouring their kills (a topi and a zebra on two separate occasions). We saw herds of elephants with their babies. A leopard crossed in front of our vehicle one early morning. Scores of zebras and wildebeests populate each park that we went to (Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti). We had rare sightings of a serval, a waterbuck and cheetahs. There were many giraffes, birds, flamingos, and so much more! The accommodations were fantastic and comfortable. We loved the variety of our accommodations - coffee lodge, treetop, tent and hotel. The staff at each location were friendly and accommodating. We were assigned a personal assistant upon checking in and they learned our preferences and took great care of us during our stay. We absolutely enjoyed the hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti. Upon landing, we were taken to a beautiful breakfast spread complete with champagne, pancakes, omelettes made to order, doughnuts and so many other offerings! It was a wonderful experience and is highly recommended when you're in the Serengeti! Micato gave us so many surprises - from various meals in the bush to frequent gifts at turn-down service. All these amazing experiences were made possible by our fantastic Safari Director, Rodgers. He coordinated with various personnel on the ground and hotel staff to ensure that every single day of our journey was another memorable day. The surprises, whether by design or happenstance in the bush, could only happen because Rodgers and the safari drivers have tremendous experience and broad knowledge of all the parks, and they aim to please and ensure that your time in Tanzania is worthwhile, fun, and unforgettable. We also love the Micato all-inclusive pricing which also provided us with the Micato duffle bags, hats, water bottles, mugs and other items. We only took out our wallet when shopping for souvenirs while in Tanzania. If you are considering a safari in Africa, go with Micato for a trip of a lifetime, free of worries and concerns. Fantastic experience: We just returned from the 15-Day Micato Grand Safari to Kenya and Tanzania. It was an absolutely fabulous experience.  From the moment we arrived in Nairobi, we were treated to amazing daily wildlife experiences, fabulous accommodations, excellent meals, and the friendliest local peoples.   We began our safari with a visit to the Pinto-family-sponsored school for some of Nairobi's poorest children and the nearby Huru facility where young women are taught sewing skills and the factory makes products essential to young African girls.  The Pinto family founded Micato and a portion of the safari fee is used to support these institutions.  A heartwarming visit.  We also visited a giraffe preserve and had our first up-close encounter with these majestic animals.  Then, we were off!  A short bush flight to Amboseli where we saw 3 of the Big 5 on our first wildlife drive.  The wildlife there was spectacular, as it was everywhere.  Another short flight took us to Lewa in northwest Kenya where the original rhino preserves in Kenya were established in the 1930s.  Rhinos and lions abound as do Zebra, antelope of several varieties, elephants, and so forth.  Almost too much to take in.  As it turned out, each safari location was more spectacular than the last.  Next came Maasai Mara where we visited a Maasai village, learned about the Maasai history and culture, and were treated to a Maasai warrior dance.  We stayed at the Bateleur Camp, which was just excellent.  In addition to a personal butler, our tented suite boasted a large bathtub, an indoor shower, and a large outdoor shower - along with a large front deck on which we had cocktails while watching the nearby wildlife.  Hard to beat.  But the best was yet to come.  From Maasai Mara we flew to Tanzania and the Serengeti where we checked into the Four Seasons Serengeti!  Very nice, considering it's in the middle of nowhere.  The next morning we were treated to a hot air balloon ride over the vast expanse of Serengeti plains to observe some of the great migration.  Lastly, we flew to the Ngorongoro Crater for a couple of days.  The Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is perched along the crater rim and overlooks the crater floor some 2 thousand feet below.  What a fabulous property, reminiscent of a medieval castle.  Touring the crater floor was the perfect way to end our safari as the range of wildlife was awe inspiring.  Our safari director was George "Oh, my" Kamonde.  Can't sing his praises too high.  He and all the Micato staff throughout the safari were absolutely first class.  Our game drivers were all knowledgeable and highly skilled at negotiating the dirt roads that criss-cross the landscapes.  It's easy to see why Micato has been voted THE BEST in the business 10 times.  We are recommending Micato to our friends and are planning another Micato safari in the future.

Fantastic experience: Exceeded expectations (that were high before we traveled with Micato to Tanzania) in every possible way, and then some. Met our Safari Director at JRO airport and he was with us until bidding us farewell back at the airport 9 evenings later. His knowledge, his demeanor, his courtesies were impeccable. We loved that Ms. Philbrick in the NY office suggested the option of making our Safari "private" for our 3 generation family group; this made our experiences ever so amazing and memorable, with our Safari Director, Jackson and our 2 vehicle driver-guides there for us for every game drive and overland drives. Fantastic experience: Our high expectations were exceeded at every destination. Our safari director Nuru is arguably the nicest person that we’ve ever met . At every lodge, as the entire staff came out to meet our group, Nuru shook every last person’s hand and thanked them sincerely for having us as their guests. They very much respected Nuru, and each lodge experience can only be described as fantastic !!! Transfers at airports were smoother than that of other travelers thanks to Micato …. Simply put , Micato has perfected the African Safari experience . One of many examples was the exquisite field lunch that we experienced in the Ngorongora Crater after a mesmerizing safari . As a tribute to how respected and appreciated Micato is to the Ngorogoro Lodge , the General Manager made a point of driving over an hour from the Lodge to visit our picnic lunch catered by his team. The Micato experience is worth it because of the value of everything being included without any hidden charges . The Micato support team from Bonnie, extending to our concierge Josephine and Grace, was attentive, professional, and each in their small way contributed to our experiencing a wonderful trip … Our high regard for Micato and its team was uniformly shared by everyone in our group of thirteen, almost all of which were experienced luxury travelers … We love Micato and look forward to our next Micato experience … PS … For older travelers like ourselves , we highly recommend coming three days early and staying at the Legendary Lodge . The experience at that small hotel was extremely relaxing , and two days of recovery with spa services allowed us to recover from jet lag and be prepared for the rigors associated with the travel and game drives of the trip. A visit that was as coordinated to the Arusha National Park was very enjoyable, and gave us the opportunity to see more giraffe than at any other park, as well as see monkeys and other animals unique to that park … I would highly recommend that pre-safari experience while staying at the Legendary Lodge. Fantastic experience: We recently returned from a trip of a lifetime led by the Micato Safari group. 15 family members (2 families with adult children) experienced the thrills and adventures of 2 weeks on Safari in South Africa, Victoria Falls and Botswana. Our driver, Enzi, also did an outstanding job navigating his way through the difficult conditions in the bush. These two staff members were exceptional, and represent Micato well. Micato knows how to do Safaris. We will always treasure the memories we made in Africa.

Fantastic experience: I worked in east Africa as a paleontologist throughout the 90s and, in 1996, had the good fortune of joining my father on a Micato safari. I relished the opportunity to spend time with my dad and share with him my love of Africa. During that trip I was impressed with the Micato staff and how seamless our adventure unfolded. That trip occurred right before the digital camera revolution and, even though I have many amazing photos, I often thought about returning without the burden of carrying lead bags to shield my canisters of photo film and the ability to take as many pictures as my camera would hold. Late last year the thought of returning was overwhelming, and I reached out to Micato to see what could be scheduled. This time I would make the trip with my wife (who also previously worked in Kenya) and our teenage daughter. We just returned from that trip and even though, based on my previous experience, my expectations were high, they were exceeded in every aspect. We were met at the airport by our guide, Tony, who took care of us the entire trip, only leaving us two weeks later when it was time for us to go through airport security on the way back home. Tony is a naturalist par excellence and he provided interesting information on every animal, bird, snake, or bug we came across. We also found that the drivers for Micato were also well-versed in animal information and we all enjoyed learning about the game parks. Among their talents, the drivers were very helpful in setting up camera shots. They would bring the car into perfect placement with regard to lighting and adjacent scenery and make small adjustments as the animals moved. We loved getting to know Tony and the drivers and, throughout the day, the vehicle was filled with laughter and stories as we navigated the African plains. The lodges were outstanding, we particularly enjoyed the tented camps. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and the food was wonderful. Meals were typically served as a buffet with a wide variety of choices to suit anyone’s taste. If you are interested in viewing animals in the wild, in photographing beautiful places, in taking time away from the phone and the computer, in making new friends, Micato makes it all very easy. We can’t wait to go back.

Fantastic experience: We have just returned from a two week safari with Micato Safaris. We were blown away by the luxurious accommodations and gourmet meals of each of the camps and lodges. It's hard to imagine the effort it takes to pull that off in such remote settings. Of course, the stars of the show are the landscapes/animals/people of Africa. It seems no native African ever has a bad day! If you choose Micato for your trip--you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: In a word a Micato Safari is outstanding...from the start we were welcomed and all of our needs and requests were accommodated. The hotels, our guide Julius, the administrative staff, food were first class all the way. We were able to see 4 of the big five animals during the trip and the Micato team made had a bunch of surprises all along the trip. We really enjoyed the bush flights to move us around Tanzania and Kenya, as they provided a view that you don't see in the United States. Often we were the only passengers on these flights. Our guide Julius was friendly, very knowledgeable and really took care of us for the full 10 days. He was the first to arrive and the last to go to bed each evening. Well Done!

Fantastic experience: I went on on a small-group tour in May 2024 through Botswana (3 different bush camps), and Victoria Falls, with an additional few days in Cape Town. Simply put, it exceeded my expectations in virtually every regard. Thoughtfully chosen locations, camps and hotels; very knowledgeable guides; generally excellent food and every detail planned in advance. The small group also permitted the guides to easily handle last-minute changes in the schedule in response to weather or client requests (such as adding a private tour at a Cape Town museum). I generally don't post reviews, but the Micato experience was so wonderful that I wanted to provide these comments.

Fantastic experience: Four of us (all women) just returned from the best trip ever! We spent two weeks in Botswana, Victoria Falls, and Cape Town, and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our guide, Gavin, was incredibly attentive, and we never so much as touched a bag or paid a bill. When Micato says “everything is included “, they mean it. Our safaris were amazing, as were our safari guides, and we loved all three camps. I can’t imagine going to Africa any other way!!

Fantastic experience: Our Israel/Jordan trip was cancelled due to the war and some friends recommended we contact Micato for a last minute alternative vacation. Wow, I have never been so blown away by a vacation trip! We were able to visit Tanzania and Rwanda (with a little time in Kenya) thanks to some finagling by Micato at the last minute. We never experienced any complications, anxiety or inconveniences despite the complexity of traveling between 3 countries in such a short period of time. The guides, drivers, trackers and porters were all fantastic. Everyone was genuinely friendly and accommodating. The facilities were among the best in the world (we have lived in 4 countries and traveled in dozens more). We'll be booking a trip to India with Micato after we reschedule our Israel/Jordan trip.

From the minute we arrived in Jomo Kenyatta Airport until our departure 10 days later, we were well tucked into the Micato Safari travel bubble. Micato not only took care of all our land and flight arrangements, but also took the time to make us feel special every day. Their attention to detail is what separates them from others. All I had to remember was to take my passport out of the room safe and my phone charger out of the wall socket. Travelling with a knowledgeable safari director (Dennis) made the world of difference. He brought the countries culture and traditions alive. He added layers of depth to our travel experience I could not have foreseen. Our game viewing and activities arranged was spectacular. What was really nice was that were exposed to different areas with different wildlife altogether. Amboseli, Loisaba, Masái Mara made a lasting impression on all of us. From picking us up as we arrived at the gate to waving us off two weeks later our whole trip was absolutely seamless. Everything was planned and organized to perfection. We felt very fortunate to have him as we were able to do things we would never have considered if we had been on our own. Fantastic experience: Wonderful Experience! We took a private version of Royal Palaces of India with an extension to Varanasi. (Varanasi was the icing on the cake - well worth adding on.) All the sights and locations they selected for us were really great. All the hotels were beyond magnificent. Our guide, Rajdeep, was with us whenever we left the hotel so it was like having a knowledgeable friend show you around. And it made everything so easy and free from any hassles. Micato takes good care of you.

Fantastic experience: The ONLY way to travel from now on will be in Micato Safari style! Our trip to East Africa started with the very first point of contact, an invite to visit Kenya! From here on in the excitement grew in leaps & bounds. Fantastic experience: WOW! Returned from our Kenyan safari on 3/16/24. It was a fantastic trip. Philip Bet, our safari director, was the best. He said our safari was 8 out of 10 because we didn’t see a lion kill its prey. We did see them eating a zebra though. We saw so many other things, including the Big 5. For our first trip to Africa, I don’t think we could have asked for more. Micato provided many surprises, including breakfast in the bush and cocktails at sunset. We loved every moment. The trip ended with an enlightening visit to the Harambee Center in the Nairobi slum, to see the results of Micato’s education efforts.

Every day he was dressed to perfection, hat, jacket, handkerchief, and gorgeous shoes !! So respectful, So knowledgeable about India’s history. Very personable, Very articulate and speaks English to perfection ! He took care of us like we were his children. From the moment we met him he told us this is your vacation. This is your trip. We are here to make your trip unforgettable . Whatever we did not want to do from the itinerary, we did not do and whatever we wanted to add to the itinerary he found a way to do it. We are looking forward to future trips to India, and Africa with Micato!

Fantastic experience: 22 Feb 2024 Our 3rd venture to Africa (Tanzania), was the most enjoyable yet. My wife and I took our son there for a 50th birthday present. He was in awe of the animals; mesmerized by the African landscape; enchanted by the African people. We shared his feelings. Once again Micato kept their promise of taking care of all the details, including finding my luggage, which the airline failed to forward to Kilimanjaro.
