AAA - Summerville

Fantastic experience: My fiancé and I were traveling out of town when my car decided to start acting up. We were stuck on the side of the road with cars nonstop honking at us. Long story short, we were not having a good day at this point. We got the car towed to AAA to get checked out on Saturday. Lucky for us, John was working the front desk. He was nothing but kind, understanding and extremely helpful. He gave us peace of mind and did everything he could for us. We were made aware that they would be closed the following day and could not get my car in till Monday due to time and all the other cars they had to work on. John still made an effort to check out my car and do some quick research for us as we waited for our ride. We left with a lot more knowledge than we came in with thanks to the team at AAA Summerville. Monday came around and as promised, they got my car in and looked at. They sent a detailed and easy to read review of what they found. Needless to say my car has an engine recall that is out of their wheelhouse. They still did everything in their power to help and are continuing to help as we navigate the next steps. Highly recommend taking your car here. They are the nicest and most honest people I have ever met in this industry. It’s not always easy to trust mechanics and shops when you’ve been screwed over multiple times. AAA Summerville is trustworthy and will provide you with the best service possible. Thanks again to John at the front desk for all the help!

Positive experience: Just had a oil change and fluids check up and got fleeced, over $700, I’m no mechanic of any kind but i didn’t think having my oil changed and brake, steering fluid and other fluids would cost that much, i m wondering if inflation has something to do with it but might have to look elsewhere for oil change etc next time!!

Fantastic experience: I brought my vehicle in for a service and they were quick and professional! I liked the fact that they do a thorough inspection in detail showing everything that was checked. Very satisfied!

Negative experience: If I could give AAA 0 stars, I would. My friend accidentally locked my keys inside my car last night. We made the call around 8pm. They told us someone would be coming to unlock my car at 8:21pm. Come that time, no one show up but we wait 5 more minutes before giving them a call. By this point we call again around 8:35pm, and the employee on the phone told us that they should be there in 15 minutes. 15 minutes pass, so we call again. We are then told that no one has actually been assigned to come and help us unlock my car, even though we were told someone was on the way. They did move us from medium priority to high priority-but that did not make a difference as we waited 3 hours for AAA to call us back. When they did call, it was to tell us they could not find anyone for the night. We had to have a very kind stranger that we did not know very well take us home. We did not get home until around 11:30pm. Thank God we were not in a more serious, dangerous situation or things could have turned out a lot differently. Do not recommend.

Fantastic experience: John has always been professional and thorough.

Positive experience: We have had an AAA membership for many years. Thankfully, we haven't needed roadside assistance except a few times in all that time. We have used the local office for our annual international drivers license since we have started spending more time abroad. This location really struggles to keep a person on staff available to do the license as well as keeping equipment functioning so they can take your photo. I recommend calling before you go and ask specifically if they can take your pictures as well as if someone capable will be there. Took 3 tries last time, and when we got there, the photo printer was down again and had to go to Walgreens to get photos and then come back.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I and our son broke down on I-95 on the way to see family. We were not close to anything. AAA took us to the Summerville repair shop. There were no rental cars available in the area and we were pretty much stranded. It didn’t look like we were going to be able to get it looked at before closing and we did not know what we were going to do. My husband spoke with the facility managers, John and Erik, and told them our situation and that we were 4 1/2 hours away from being able to be home. Brian, one of their expert technicians, quickly got our car into the shop, diagnosed it, got the part, and had us back on the road in less than two hours. We were blown away by their kindness and ability to get us back on the road so quickly. We are so thankful for these guys and this AAA shop! We highly recommend them and would give them 10 stars if we could! God bless you guys and thank you again so much!

Negative experience: I was promised to have alternator fixed on Wednesday but wasn’t fix until Friday because they took a whole 24 hrs to tow my vehicle and they didn’t even inspect my vehicle until that Thursday after I had to physically go there and ask about the updates.

Negative experience: Scheduled an appointment for various services through their online scheduling system. When I arrived I was told they did not have enough time in the day to do what was required on my vehicle. When I said that I received a confirmation of my appointment and suggested that they should have contacted me when I scheduled if that was the case, I was told they don’t actually read the appointment requests.

Fantastic experience: I recently took my car to AAA after an unsettling visit to another mechanic. At the previous shop, they used scare tactics and threw around a lot of "what ifs" regarding the safety of my vehicle. Seeking a second opinion, I reached out to AAA, who assured me they would perform a full vehicle inspection. At AAA, I was greeted by John at the front desk, who was very polite and welcoming. Brian, the mechanic who worked on my car, was extremely knowledgeable and took great care of my vehicle. They turned a stressful situation into a much more pleasant experience, providing me with the information I needed to move forward with the necessary repairs. I highly recommend AAA to anyone in need of car maintenance or repairs. While I'm confident all their mechanics are great, Brian's exceptional service truly stood out. Thank you, AAA team!

Negative experience: My wife's car was stuck on a stump in the parking lot at the Vets in Summerville. She called AAA and they said our coverage wasn't in force because I missed a monthly payment. I had paid annually so that was incorrect. I had to leave work and drive to a AAA office. Sure enough, the plan was paid for. The young lady called roadside assistance and I gave them my wife's cell number and address where she was. I was told they would contact her in 5 minutes and let her know when they could be there. This was just before 5:00 pm. At 6:30 pm and still no call I set out with a floor jack to see if I could do it myself. We were able to get the Carr free and we're now home. It's 7:34 pm. Still no contact. If there was any other road service company, I don't care if it was 2 guys and a donkey, they'd have to be better than AAA. I've paid for many years and we need them once and this is what you get? What a sham!

Negative experience: I had a coupon $69.99 oil change and tire rotation, my total was $81.55. I asked why salesman stated tax. I looked over my receipt it has additional charge $8.50 for supplies. Why if the coupon says oil change for $69.99?

Fantastic experience: No pressure oil change and tire rotation. The staff is great, especially Klaus. Austin has taken care of my truck and car a couple of years now, and he always does a fantastic job.

Negative experience: Very unsatisfied with this location. My vehicle stopped cranking got the vehicle towed over and they couldn’t seem to find what the issue was spoke with someone told me to come pick the vehicle up and pay a diagnostic fee although they couldn’t tell me what was wrong with the vehicle. I did pick the vehicle up and the next day and the car drove fine for the first day, that next day the vehicle did the same thing again. Since i previously paid a little over $200 i took the vehicle back to them. They’ve had the vehicle for two days and i was told the vehicle cranked with no problems and they’re still unaware of the problem. I went to pick the vehicle up and was told the vehicle was being worked on but it was parked on the side of the building. I feel like at this moment they’re shooting at the hip and just throwing anything out there to make it like they’re doing work but in actuality they weren’t. I paid for a diagnostic and my vehicle has yet been diagnosed I’ve just been told this is a weird issue and they’re not sure what it is

Negative experience: I brought my car here in hopes that they would fix the issue. They ended up doing some work on it and not even a week later I was having the same problem with my car. I took it back to them and they still haven’t fixed the problem. I would highly recommended taking your car to another shop because this shop is ridiculous! Even had video proof that my car still wasn’t right and they did nothing about it

Fast efficient service and a very reasonable price. This car only has 22,000 miles on it, and this is where I’m going from now on unless it’s a warranty issue.

Fantastic experience: I had called to get help with my vehicle. The skid plate was crumpled from a rock. Stanley arrived and the weather was horrible. Rain was pouring down, but Stanley got on the ground and assessed the situation. It was held on by one elusive screw. He got out the jack and shimmied under the car. The plate hit the ground with a satisfying thunk. Stanley was professional and courteous the entire time , he called and verified where the car was located. He arrived prior to the estimated time. Thanks to Stanley we were able to drive away. Incredible experience, it even convinced our friend who was not a AAA member, to seek membership. Stanley impressed her with top notch customer service that showed value for the membership. I have been a member for 20 plus years, Stanley has exceeded my expectations. Thank you so much.

Fantastic experience: Very thorough and fast service. Made an appointment 2 days prior and had no issues. Got in at 7:29 AM and was out before 9:30. They take pictures and send a full inspection report to you of everything they see.

He also explained the necessary repairs clearly so that I understood. Service Technician Brian Prioleau worked diligently & professionally to complete the extensive repair work in a timely manner. Once we gave the approval to order parts & start the repair work, Brian completed the job in 7 business days !!! Negative experience: Purchased four tires at the west Ashley AAA due to being towed there with screws in two of my tires after going though a construction site. After leaving I noticed a bump and thought it was the road. As the days passed by I continued to hear the bump. Since I live over by the AAA on Dorchester rd I took my car there. It was the worst mistake!!! I guess if you are a woman the service manager and his desk guys think you are stupid…. They did not keep their story straight and the service manager told me he could not help me due to me not buying the tires from their store. I would have to take my car back to the west Ashley store. What!!!! AAA is AAA!!! So I had to go back to the other store in order to get my issue taken care of. I am truly sorry that I purchased tires from AAA. Lesson learned!!!! I will not be back to AAA for any kind of work!!!

Negative experience: I'm glad AAA realized that there tow truck driver named Shafique O'Garro he left me on the side of the road with a baby. He cancelled the first one. Lied about what I said to him because he didn't want to come and get the keys out of my car. The first lady I talked to was Miss Brittany was very rude and told me the tow driver won't come out. So I recorded roadside it took over a still nothing so I called back Miss Alise tried to call the driver he wouldn't answer her call. So I had no choice but to call a lock out that cost me $70 bucks that I didn't have. Which I have that receipt for AAA yes I was mad he called me and I called him right back and he done blocked my number.
