Navajo Travel Center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Very clean restroom! Good place to stop get gas, a drink and Subway sandwich!
Fantastic experience: Clean, convenient, friendly. Really appreciate it opened on Christmas Day when many gas stations and even rest areas were closed. The best subway sandwich.
Fantastic experience: Large parking lot, clean restrooms, respectful staff and beautiful store overall
Fantastic experience: Beautiful store I'm impress really clean in all aspects and the cashier was real nice I will be back for sure.
Negative experience: DO NOT COME HERE TO PARK YOUR SEMI. THE POT HOLES ARE HUGE AND DEEP. Clean restrooms though.
Fantastic experience: Cute Knick knacks. Gas was a bit higher than it should be lol
Fantastic experience: A big place filled with souvenirs and foods! Would recommend coming here if travelling!
Fantastic experience: A gas station in a beautiful location with cool souvenirs and a clean restroom. The coffee is okay, though a bit watery and with almost no aftertaste.
Thanks for stopping by! See you again soon.
Negative experience: Hookers beating on my sleeper last night. Never again.
Hi Rebecca, Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your experience. We have team members on property 24/7 who are monitoring for security. Please feel free to reach out to them, or the local police department, if you are ever feeling unsafe or disturbed while trying to rest. Your experience is very atypical for our area, we will be keeping a close eye out in the future. We hope to see you again for an opportunity to win you back! Thanks, Navajo Travel Center Team
Fantastic experience: Truck parking lot has some holes to fill. Otherwise a great stop! Clean restrooms, awesome souvenirs we found and purchased. We will be back soon.
We're glad you enjoyed our Travel Center! Have a safe trip!
Fantastic experience: This is a great pitstop. Easy in and out and nice folks running the place. Area around the pumps and store is in good shape, with plenty of parking for trucks and campers. (although the dirt lot is pretty rough in spots… just watch out for the pot holes. ) Also enjoyed chatting with the gals that were making and selling jewelry at the little outdoor Navo market. Bought a bracelet for my daughter. I try to stop here whenever I’m passing this way.
We are so glad that you enjoyed your stop - thank you for such a kind review!
Fantastic experience: Nice stop with new, clean restrooms!
Fantastic experience: Very clean bathrooms & a small dog park with agility equipment so our dog could stretch her legs. Thank you so much.
We have very pleased to be able to cater to our furry family members - thanks for using our dog park!
Positive experience: You can get what you need. Parking lot is rough . 33ft travel trailer was able to get to the pumps. No Coke Zero on the fountain.
Negative experience: Today is May 13, 2024 the older lady in the subway refused to toast the sandwich I ordered. Plus she wouldn't add a drink to my order. (645am)
Negative experience: Don't like the "you break it, you buy it" signs.
Fantastic experience: The jewelry and local artwork is obviously obtained from true Navajo artisans. So many things I'd love to have!! Classy jewelry...wow! Sorry far, I bought infant moccasins for my first grand baby! The place is Very clean, staff are friendly, A.J. and her dad are truly top notch! Love Navajo Travel Center ❤️
Fantastic experience: I really like the store. Cool things.
Negative experience: Stopped for gas and coffee. They didnt have a sleeve for the cup so I used an extra cup. The cashier wanted to charge me extra $3.50 for extra cup. She said I have to pay full coffee price for it. What you ya’ll think ??
Fantastic experience: good place to get diesel
Fantastic experience: Decent bathrooms, good looking shop.
Positive experience: Just stopped for gas so not much to say. The place was clean and they had a lot of souvenirs to buy if you want some.
Fantastic experience: I will definitely be stopping here again. Clean restrooms, great selection of snacks and drinks and interesting souvenirs, but not overwhelming like some places. Well organized. This was also seriously my best experience at a Subway, anywhere! Super clean, very fresh ingredients, very personable and efficient staff. Highly recommended stop.
Fantastic experience: So very clean. Nice facility, very nice people.
Fantastic experience: Fanni did a fine job on my sun. And...she was very funny
Fantastic experience: Wow :) Shell gas station! The employees were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to assist me. Their warm welcome and attentive service made my visit truly enjoyable. It's refreshing to encounter such helpful and courteous staff. I'll definitely be returning to this Shell station for their exceptional customer service!
Fantastic experience: Great rest stop with clean bathrooms and a great selection of road trip supplies
Fantastic experience: Very friendly people
Negative experience: Meh. I really appreciated that there's a Subway sandwich shop in there, but I wanted to sit inside and charge my phone while I ate, and there is no indoor seating whatsoever. The convenience store had good prices, but they really didn't have what I was looking for. I was going to park here for the night, but ultimately decided to go to Hopi Travel Plaza ~30 miles west on I-40, and was happy with that decision.
Fantastic experience: It's always nice to go to this place.
Fantastic experience: Nice shop with Native American merchandise and snacks to take on your road trip. Merchandise is well displayed.
Negative experience: Talk about price gouging. Every fuel center in AZ I passed on I-40 was $3.99 or less. This place was $4.75.
Negative experience: This gas station takes forever just to fill a tank. It’s time to change the pumps. It won’t stop when tank is full. All spill out.
Fantastic experience: Always stop here when heading back to Arizona, staff is great and restrooms are always clean.
Negative experience: The store is ok but super manipulative unreliable expensive prices for no reason!! So its my first and last time here
Negative experience: You just keep your mask mandate. I'll carry my money elsewhere down the road and spend it
Fantastic experience: This place is clean and friendly. They have lots of neat arts and crafts from the local area but also several items made overseas and shipped in. However in the back outside they have native Indian arts and crafts set up and people come there and sell like a flea market really nice stuff.
Fantastic experience: The building was unique with a high ceiling and lots of collectibles at ok prices. There was lots of shade outside and since it was on native land it still required a mask which they provided.
Fantastic experience: Clean restrooms. Beautiful gift shop. Lots of parking. Friendly people
Negative experience: Agree with other comments, RUDE EMPLOYEES most stuffs are more expensive than anywhere else! I brought my own cup , just ice they charged me $1.50 for this!
Positive experience: Your staff is courteous and friendly. The store and restrooms are clean and there is plenty of parking. I am a truck driver and this is one of my preferred stops.
Fantastic experience: It's July 2022. Nice place is in the middle of nowhere. Big sign "FACE MASKS REQUIRED." Thank goodness. Shame they are not enforcing it however--even though all employees and most customers were wearing one. It was the happiest group of face masked people I ever saw. Native American owned businesses in Arizona and New Mexico usually require face masks still. I just wish the masks were a little bigger. Some Indian strains are particularly deadly.
Positive experience: Complete idiots still pushing the masks..... people stop being paranoid masks do not work....... the employees treat customers terrible as if they have lepracy or something.....
Negative experience: Do not bother. You cannot go in without facemask
Fantastic experience: Clean, not too friendly
Negative experience: Disrespectful employees yell at you for not wearing a mask then laugh about it. Subway is disgusting, parking lot is poorly maintained.
Negative experience: Their parking lot is full of craters, their subway is disgusting, and they still require face masks. Definitely not worth the stop.
Negative experience: I'm done with these places that try and force me to wear a mask to do business with them. Apparently their to scared of the world to let life in
Fantastic experience: Clean with friendly staff.
Negative experience: Giving one star because they require masks. No one cares about that anymore but these Karen’s of the store do
Negative experience: Do not stop unless you want to be yelled at to put a mask on. The pandemic is over, the mandates are over, no reason to wear a mask anymore. Won't be getting my business
Fantastic experience: So clean and friendly! The dog area is so wonderful, thank you!
Positive experience: Staff were okay, friendliness could have been improved a bit but all in all not a bad experience. Stopped here for gas and drinks while on the road.
Negative experience: Another complaint here about getting screamed at about mask. Asked for employees names, they refused to give to me and said you don't need to know my fn name. I will never stop in here again . Plenty of other friendly truck stops that treat paying customers like customers, not trash.
Negative experience: Don't waste your time! Gas is $1 more than evertwhere else, trash everwhere and mandatory masks. HARD PASS!!!
Positive experience: Big dirt lot with only a few tank traps. Parking for maybe 60 trucks. Convenient to I-40. Coffee was okay. There's a somewhat hokey Native American gift shop inside but there were a few items that were pretty cool. Plenty of stuff kids would like: stuff you can't get at a TA or Flying J. I like stopping here.
Negative experience: The star is for the Subway inside.....I was given a sandwich that was terrible.....there was no ranch on it & I distracted by another employee, so I didn't realize that it was dry. The bread was so tough that my dog had a hard time eating it, & was charged for a different sandwich than what I ordered.....never again
Negative experience: Can't come in without a mask. You guys WAKE UP! Masks don't help. Just losing clients. Good job.
Positive experience: Gasoline here is more expensive than other places. Not a lot of parking spots. Men's restroom wasn't up to par. Good selection of snacks, etc. in convenience store. Easy off/on to I-40.
Negative experience: Not helpful at all. Went inside to find out who owned a black Toyota pickup truck that was parked at the pump while shopping for over 20 minutes. I asked cashier & people in the store if anyone owned it. No one claimed it was theirs. My husband was outside in our truck & said a family came out with Subway bags. They had lied to my face it wasn't their truck. Then the manager was inside complaining about a truck with Ihaul sitting at the pump. That was ours waiting for the other trick to move so he could fill up.
Positive experience: Clean store but the gas pump was ridiculously slow!
Negative experience: Masks are required. In the 20 minutes I was there (entire time in line for Subway), four other people walked in and the lady at the front yelled at them to put on masks. They will refuse service if you don't comply. If it wasn't for this place being the only stop for miles, I wouldn't have even thought of going here. Places like these don't deserve business if this is how they treat every person who walks in the door. You should not have to hide your face to get a sandwich.
Fantastic experience: Clean store, restaurant, and bathrooms. Polite and friendly staff. Neat selection of souvenirs available in the store. Plenty of truck parking.
Fantastic experience: Best place to shop. We stopped here to get some cold drinks and to our surprised what wonderful native American items they have. I bought several gifts for family and friends. The employees here r awesome ❤️
Negative experience: People working here are complet sheep, right at the door no matter you are vaccinated or not force you to where a mask.
Positive experience: Masks required, business is clean. The local tribe will come in and order 12 ft long sandwiches with every option available and hold up the subway line for 45 minutes.IF YOU ARE IN A HURRY DONT GO HERE
Negative experience: I’ll take my business elsewhere bunch of ignorant people about mask
Negative experience: I did stop here every other week but I will find a new place to spend my money!
Fantastic experience: Lots of pumps, reasonable priced. Surprised how good their Subway restaurant was. Fresh veggies and attentive staff. Given the lack of competition in the area, I was very pleasantly surprised. Masks were required, but they offered them at entry and the person manning the entry table was friendly and polite.
Fantastic experience: Friendly people and beautiful store. Very clean and plenty of parking
Fantastic experience: Nice and clean nice stuff
Fantastic experience: Just got some waters and snacks for the long road trip
Fantastic experience: Awesome stuff
Positive experience: Lots of gas pumps. Nice clean store with food, gifts and large restrooms. COVID protocols for masks.
Fantastic experience: Clean bathrooms and great, handmade jewelry.
Positive experience: Nice merchandise even though it's pricey. I bought my Wife a sterling silver hand made hair clip.
Fantastic experience: Good place to stop for a break. Dirt lot. Nice staff. They're still requiring face masks.
Positive experience: Parking is limited however they keep the restroom very clean. The store has ample snacks and drinks.
Negative experience: I don't need a mask and I don't need to shop here.
Negative experience: Signs all over the store front say the store is closed.
Negative experience: Trashy, rude, hostile employees. Save your time, money, and frustration.
Negative experience: They won't let you in to the store unless you buy a mask from them. Nice way to make money, but not from me .
Negative experience: Still enforcing mask mandates even if you have already had covid or are vaccinated. Paranoia is real.
Negative experience: Horrible place!! Don't stop here! They don't follow science! They need to pull there head out of there @ss!!
Negative experience: Same here with mask. I have a better chance winning lottery than dying of Covid.
Negative experience: Ran over a metal bar in the ground in their parking lot. They then stated that it was Indian Land and not their problem.
Negative experience: How disappointing. The owners need to follow actual science. Heck even the CDC is doing that now! Vaccinated people do not have to wear masks any longer PER THE CDC AND THE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH. Also, requiring people to use gloves in order to touch the merchandise? Have you read or researched ANYTHING in the last 12 months. This would be laughable if it wasn't so piteous.
Fantastic experience: Very convenient, great for trucks!
Fantastic experience: Came here to use the restroom and stop at the Subway! Nice little place with a huge offering of souvenirs of the Navajo tribe! Some were trinkety type things, while other were a little more natural!
Fantastic experience: Very well run and maintained food mart with subway in it. Very Clean restrooms and the employees following all the COVID protocols and ensuring customers also follow.
Negative experience: Does not exist.. this location is the intersection of two dirt roads with nothing around.
Positive experience: A nice place to stop and get some food or a drink. Nice big parking area too
Negative experience: I walked in. Was greeted rudely. I felt uncomfortable and the tension by the short girl with blue jacket and a pony tail with red hair. Idk what her problem was. But she was just nodding her head to the cashier with glasses. And that time exiting out she was just making childish high school actions lmaoo. She just laughed after I was exiting the store with my subway sandwich. I’m not going to come back to this location.
Negative experience: They do NOT honor ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). Will not ever do business with them in the future.
Positive experience: Nice people. Good coffee and subway.
Positive experience: Don't run out of gas here. It is the most unfriendly place on earth.
Fantastic experience: Literally the best burrito I have ever eaten in my life. Considered turning around to get another some 30 miles down the road.
Negative experience: As of Sept 26 2020 this rest area is closed. Not sure when they’ll reopen. No gas. No restrooms. No snacks. Nothing. Just a bunch of truckers and people turning around to get back on the freeway to find another place to poop.
I am sorry that we were not available when you stopped by. We are located on the Navajo Nation reservation and they do weekend lock down due to the Pandemic that plagued our country. The Navajo Nation mandated that all businesses on the reservation close during these lock downs to protect our Navajo People. We are open on week days from 6am to 7pm daily. So sorry we missed you. Stay safe and take care.
Positive experience: Great place to stop for a snack or have a sandwich on the go, very safe place.
Fantastic experience: Warm water to wash hands plus clean restroom. Greeted right at door . Would recommend this place for treats, gasoline, and jewelry shopping.
