Our comment from TraTraTravel about AAA Pittsburgh Insurance and Member Services:
AAA Pittsburgh Insurance and Member Services offers a mix of experiences, showcasing both strengths and areas needing improvement. Customers frequently highlight the friendliness and professionalism of some staff members, such as Kourtney, Eugene, and Patrice, who have made their visits enjoyable and efficient. Many have noted the quick service for tasks like photo services and title transfers, with some customers leaving satisfied after minimal waiting time.
However, there are concerns regarding the inconsistent customer service provided. Numerous users reported rude and dismissive interactions with staff, describing experiences that felt unwelcoming or discriminatory. Long wait times and inefficiencies are also commonly mentioned, making the overall experience be perceived as frustrating.
Despite these challenges, there are glimpses of positivity, especially when staff are dedicated to assisting customers effectively. The classic building adds a historical charm to the location. Overall, while some customers have faced obstacles, there are also numerous testimonials praising individual staff members and specific services.
AAA Pittsburgh Insurance and Member Services: Reviews
Negative experience: LOOK THE AUTOMATIC SYSTEM ISN'T WORKING NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT. PLEASE SHUT IT DOWN NOW.
Positive experience: For driver photo service , it was super fast- in and out for both myself and my son. we went around 230pm, no line. HOWEVER the ppl working there are so unbelievably rude. like oddly rude? Anyway. Its a classic building so that's a bonus.
Fantastic experience: My 93 year old mother and I had the most pleasurable experience with Geneva and Eugene. They treated us so kindly and professionally. Please let them know we greatly appreciated it!
Negative experience: Not veteran friendly. AAA Front desk not mature enough to accept documented PennDOT instructions outside of “how they always do it”. They were very dismissive. I attempted to show them step by step for VA disabled placard application off the back of form MV-145A. However they just kept saying I needed block A, B, C and E, where the instructions clearly state only block A, D, E for disabled vets. I had all necessary documents for section D block 2. Not sure why they insisted on turning me away. Got to wonder. They were not totally rude, just kind of snobbish and adamant about turning me away. 29 Oct update: after following DOT instructions on the form (i mailed directly to pendot only necessary forms myself) and NOT following AAA bad and stubborn advice; I received my handicap hangar without issue. Really a shame the way they treat some people over there. Doing it on my own was just way easier and less stressful than trying to deal with the obstructive nature going on in that AAA branch.
Negative experience: I went in to see a notary service just before 9am and there was nobody there. I checked-in with the front desk and waited an hour before leaving. I watched people arrive, be seen, and leave. Over and over again. However, when I asked the front desk, they said we were still on the list. The only reason I could see that we weren’t called was because I was with my husband. I felt discriminated against because we were gay and didn’t confirm this until when we finally gave up and left, the lady who was doing notary looked at us and smiled as we went up the escalator. If you are a queer person, do not go to this location.
Negative experience: Rude, argumentative, and condescending. Terrible playbook for an insurance sales agency.
Negative experience: Absolutely the worst and least efficient place I have ever been. Literally there are 6 people waiting for help and 9 people at stating nothing. One woman has asked us what we need (mind you after checking in at reception and logging our service request) 3 times. She has walked around the seating area 4 times and asked us all what we need. This is NOT the state license workers this is AAA. Absolutely the worst example of lazy in efficient and ineffective service I have ever witnessed. If I could post a video I would. The operator of this AAA needs FIRED
Negative experience: To the managers/owners: if you're going to run a skeleton crew, you need to take appointments. It's not cool to say you're open til 3, but turn people away at 12 PM because you can't get through the queue in time
Negative experience: They’re horrible with '00' manners + they’re not even trying!!
Negative experience: Customer service was terrible. Employees act like helping is inconvenient, everything done with an attitude
Fantastic experience: Great service all around. My first time registering a car and buying car insurance and couldn’t be happier with the help I received from Dustin and Patrice. The receptionist was also very kind.
Negative experience: I WENT TO DO A TITLE NAME CHANGE WITH ALL OF THE PROPER DOCUMENTATION AND WAS TURNED AWAY AFTER A HOUR WAIT!
Negative experience: AVOID THIS LOCATION IF YOU HAVE ALTERNATIVES. Among the most disappointing and unacceptable experiences with customer service I have had in recent years. Upon reaching the counter, the lady behind counter set a negative tone by rudely instructing me to take my folder off the counter even though it contained the documents I needed. Subsequently, she raised her voice while insisting why she was unable to assist with notarizing my document, despite my having had similar services performed elsewhere without issue. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with her level of service, she told me I was having a bad day. Unfortunately, encounters with discourteous and argumentative individuals at this location are not uncommon. While there are some friendly and helpful agents, the inconsistent level of service indicates that the manager is either unwilling or unable to ensure that customers are treated with the respect they deserve. Avoid this location if you have alternatives.
Negative experience: It's bed company ! The person who drove car hitted my mailbox damaged the wall ! When I contacted his insurance company, they told me they may not enough money pay ! Tell me call my insurance company ! This like jock ! You no money pay you should close your business ! When you take some one money he/she something happens you shouldn't have any excuse to refuse pay ! Another way go bankruptcy !!!
Negative experience: Poor customer service and the manager named Steve treated me racist
Negative experience: The worst customer service ever! The female agent made a major mistake with my paperwork which made me have to do double the paperwork and 3 trips to AAA. When I came back for the 3rd time the agent acted like I was the 1 who made the major mistake with her paperwork; not making eye contact with me and totally ignoring me after SHE told me to come back and ask for her. Extremely loud and unprofessional. The managers at this East Liberty branch are equally as bad and no accountability. I've been a member since the 1990's. It's never been this bad.
Fantastic experience: Kourtney was lovely! She helped me start the process of transferring my title to PA. I was incredibly anxious doing this because I've never done it before. She made it easy and smooth sailing. Her demeanor, cheerfulness and kindness radiates and all I could say is she is the best person for this job! One of a kind receptionist!
Negative experience: Abusive. A little surprising the behaviour they get away with.
Fantastic experience: I needed to transfer my Florida vehicle tag and title to PA. The short answer is just go to this AAA office in East Liberty. Branch Specialist Christina Wofford hit it out of the ballpark, completing everything we needed to do to complete the transfer and get me a new PA plate in an hour. Super friendly, uber professional. Two thumbs up.
Negative experience: AAA Nightmare started at 1pm Thursday when I broke down in Northside After numerous (10) calls I finally got towed at 5pm I was charged $100 for exceeding 4 tows in a year I was told 30-45 minutes 6 times When I asked for a supervisor I got Yolanda in California She could care less of my plight We have 3 members in our household . However , I am done with them . I will not renew. I felt like I was on the old Gong show
Negative experience: AWFUL service for title transfer. Brusque, rigid and unhelpful. The very opposite of 'service'
Negative experience: I needed service they told they couldn't send no one out because they dont start untill 7:00 am . When did this happen ? I thought I was paying for 24 hr services . AAA get on the ball fees are high as HELL and now shoddy service . I may not renew my membership next year
Negative experience: Disgusting attitudes from the employee's and the supervisor Alisha who wouldn't give me her last name so I couldn't make a complaint on her, and the ignorance of the old black woman who interjected herself when she was not even needed. The disrespectful way I was spoken to was crazy I am a customer who will no longer be a customer. none of them needs to be in management position they don't even deserve a job so unprofessional
Fantastic experience: I have always had great experiences at this location and today was no exception. Patrice was absolutely professional and very helpful. The receptionist was so kind. Thank you!!
Fantastic experience: 10/10 everyone should go here for the building, the vibes, and the lovely customer service
Fantastic experience: Had a very pleasant experience doing a title transfer this morning. We were helped by Rose, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. I always have really low expectations going into license service related places, but today proved me wrong.
Negative experience: Completely unprofessional would not recommend at all. They called us to come in and pick up my title and to get plates for my car that I’ve been waiting for a month for. During the call they said only one person would have to come if their name was on the call. Upon arrival they couldn’t even find my paperwork at all and I had to wait for quite awhile. Once they found it they said both of us would have to be there even though both our names are on the car and we have the same last names I just didn’t want to make my grandmother leave the house. We now have to go back another day during the week taking more time from my schedule and my grandmother now has to drive across the city. If I could rate them 0,I would completely unprofessional and employees seemed like they had no idea how to do their jobs.
Fantastic experience: Excellent customer service. Their staff went above and beyond to help us out.
Negative experience: In response to James Patton's review from 5 months ago: Just this morning I too suffered the wrath of the woman who works the reception desk, who is, without a doubt, one of the rudest human beings I've ever met in my entire life. It's like she couldn't wait to tell me all the ways in which she couldn't be of service. It's people like her who continue to give the DMV its bad name. I wish I could remember her name -- I ever heard someone yell it out because she wasn't helping them.
Negative experience: Avoid like the plague. Lazy staff. Incomplete information. Old systems. Currently sitting in the lobby with 6 other people. Staff of 7 people only 1 person helping anyone. 5th time here cause “systems” keep going down over a 2 week period. Do better AAA.
Fantastic experience: I had arranged to meet somebody at the Baum Boulevard office to transfer a title on a vehicle I was buying for my son. Both the seller and I hit traffic and ended up arriving just a few minutes before closing time. We were expecting to be turned away and figured we would have to reschedule. Instead the staff there jumped into action and completed our transfer and new registration in an amazingly short time. Everybody was smiling and working to get our transfer done. I think at one point 4 people were working on it. Fantastic service, and the seller and I were both thankful that everybody stayed late to get our transfer done. Thanks again for great customer service!
Fantastic experience: Considerate Staff made taking care of things very easy
Negative experience: I’ve been waiting 12 hours and still no tow
Negative experience: I have been a AAA MEMBER since 1997. For the first time, they tried to cover my membership so I would pay the member price. Spent an hour in different booths while they tried to find a way to extract more money from a member. After the line was long enough, they recognized my affiliate membership (mid Atlantic aaa) and took my cash (after attempting to charge my card) The lady helping me was in training but the initial supervisor gave me wrong information speaking with authority and confidence. Stand your ground and don’t be robbed at this location
Fantastic experience: Staff is super nice & make the process quick and smooth. Give them all raises.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding facility providing seamless service for car title and registration. Worked with Christian Latimer, the best!
Negative experience: The lady downstairs was the rudest human being I’ve ever met. I was clearly confused about the cost of something when I asked she said it’s up there. The price says it varies all I was trying to do was get some clarification on what that meant. What if I was someone who suffered from dyslexia or could not see the prices. They need to find that lady a job in the back of the building with zero human interaction.
Negative experience: On September 16th, 2022 while driving home from a funeral home, the driver side rear tire came apart and flew off the rim and passed my window. I immediately pulled off onto this side of the road. I was southbound on route 28 near the Pittsburgh mills. I made a call to AAA at 7:23 p.m. . I spoke to a lovely woman that told me she would expedite the service for me since I was alone and it was getting dark. No one came by 8:00 p.m., so I made another call to aaa. During the 27 minute call, the gentleman told me he would check on my service and get back to me within 15 minutes. He never did call back after making a call to them I was totally frustrated and angry, sitting on a busy four lane highway and no one was coming. At 10:00 p.m. I called 911 and was connected to the state police. The police officer I spoke to was shocked that I was sitting there for almost 3 hours and no one from AAA had arrived. They called a tow truck for me and was able to get me home and my car to a garage. I arrived home at 11:45 p.m. I have been a member of AAA for 43 years and will not renew my AAA membership in 2023.
Fantastic experience: I've been here several times since I moved to PA in November of '21, I've had to title/register all my cars, then sold two, bought one, and have come here every time. I always get calm, helpful and friendly service. The only error I've run into was when my own finance company sent the wrong doc, and the DMV couldn't accept a fax. Ms. Holyfield was very kind and patient while I was on hold for 45 mins. If ya'll are complaining about this place, you haven't lived in VA or GA, where they make you feel like a piece of dirt at the DMV and say "no" to everything. PS: Go ahead and sign up for the AAA, it's worth it!
Negative experience: Sat I their East liberty location to pay to renew my license Left after 2 hours with no license yet
Positive experience: This AAA is also a PennDOT photograph center. Be prepared to wait. The weekends are busy and while most workers are efficient and friendly, you will be there for no less than 2 hours on a Saturday. Take a cup of coffee with you.
Fantastic experience: I have been here several times. Very good customer service.
Negative experience: I think they need to revamp the way they do things. in the beginning of the pandimic, my 70yr old pops needed ID. they had us waiting for 2hrs and we still didnt get seen!!!! they are slow at our expense as if we have nothing to do but wait around. i do understand that they have to dot there I's and cross all T's but they need to get better/faster at tyete JOB in order to service the ppl and not have them waiting all dang day. thoses workers think its funny, there is nothing funny by having a 70yr old person sitting for 2 hours!!!! My solution. set up an appointment line via phone web page and allow the ppl to come in by appointment. We are ppl, not a cattle of anaimals!!!!!! Change for the better of the people is always GOOD!!!!!!
Negative experience: I hope no one ever needs to call AAA to inquire about registering their vehicle from out of state. There is no option on their phone menu to reach their Licensing Department. I have been attempting to reach a representative from another department in hopes that they could transfer me to the correct one, but so far no one has answered the phone. I'm pretty sure they are making a lot of money from us, as they provide this service instead of the state. They need to do better.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful!!!
Negative experience: Pooooooooooooooooooooor CUTOMER SERVICE! I paid for this year they claimed I didn't and made me talk to billing; they hung up on me three times!
Fantastic experience: I have been going here for over 20 years, it still looks pretty much the same. I still remember going with my parents as a small child. Everyone is friendly and helpful and the place has a nostalgic feel to it. Be aware that they DO NOT process passports, however they will take the photos and provide an application.
Fantastic experience: The girl at the counter Q was nice
Fantastic experience: Expedient; Excellent customer service. Transferred auto title from MD to PA. Highly recommend AAA!
Fantastic experience: I've never registered a car before and had to do a title transfer from Massachusetts to PA. They guy that helped me was very friendly and made the whole process very easy. Just make sure you bring all documentation with you just in case.
Negative experience: You would think that if you pay $100 for a service every year for numerous years and don't use there service they would send someone quicker then 6 hours and the tow truck still isn't here. This is the 2nd time I have used aaa and not had a tow truck show up for hours on end. I believe I will be canceling it and trying another roadside service because this is but. The first tow company canceled I called an hour after he was supposed to be here AAA never called or texted saying what happened. When I called and inquired they told me then it took them another 45minuted to send a text whole I'm calling back in saying the tow truck driver will be there at 7 now here at 830pm I'm still waiting while writing this post
Fantastic experience: For AAA members, it's great to get help with your driving needs.
Positive experience: See the posting for Motor Square.
Fantastic experience: Had to get my license picture taken. Everyone was super friendly and helpful! And the process was super quick.
Fantastic experience: AAA gives outstanding customer service!
Fantastic experience: Had a flat Tow truck was there in 15 mins
Fantastic experience: I had no trouble looking them up in the phone book
Negative experience: Bought four memberships for my kids last Xmas called to make sure it doesn't renew bc I'm getting them something different this year and they told me I can't stop the renewal I have a different card now so they won't be getting a payment
Positive experience: The people are friendly as they could be I don't like the way they got the waiting area setup if you got spinal problems health problems make sure you bring your cane cuz you will be standing for a long time.
Fantastic experience: Service was fast and efficient. I had what I thought was a MAJOR problem and it was taken care of in seconds flat! Better than the DMV
Fantastic experience: Came in to transfer an out of state title. Dave was super helpful, friendly, and professional. Everything went smoothly and I was done in about 30 minutes. Don't worry about tracing your VIN; they will go to your vehicle and verify it for you. Overall a very good experience.
Fantastic experience: I was assisted by Dave when I went to transfer an out of state title- he was incredibly helpful! Not to mention he was so friendly and made a task that people dread not seem so bad. He also explained everything he was doing and every document that he handed to me. I had a great experience here because of him
Fantastic experience: Very good experience. Friendly organized staff.
Negative experience: STAY AWAY FROM THIS AAA BRANCH!!!! Was doing a simple transfer of title, purchasing a car from a private party. IT TOOK 2 HOURS!!! I was herded from station to station and made to wait for a simple process that shouldn't have taken more than 20 minutes. I had gone through the same title process at another AAA branch in the area where it only took about 20 minutes a few months ago. Terrible, terrible system for dealing with the public. In addition, I renewed my membership and now I am getting unsolicited email promotions from AAA and there seems to be no way to opt out of the emails as there is no 'unsubscribe' link. I now wish I had taken my business someplace else.
Fantastic experience: Usually about a 45 min wait whenever I have gone but overall great experience with the staff.
Fantastic experience: I've renewed my license here. I highly recommend it. Staff is friendly and I was in and out within 20 minutes each time.
Fantastic experience: Pleasant and professional as always. Love being a member.
Fantastic experience: Quick and easy very nice AAA+
Negative experience: Called for roadside assistance and they sent the tow truck to the wrong address. Not sure how this happened being that I gave them the address and zip code and they also confirmed near by streets. I waited hours for nothing. Had to cancel my appointment. Can’t get my tire changed until Monday since the shop is closed on Sunday.
Fantastic experience: It was a difficult place for a handicapped person but the staff were so helpful and kind and more than understanding which made the visit delightful.
Fantastic experience: Great service and very little wait time.
Fantastic experience: Well-maintained system for notary and passport services. They take passport photos in another dimension other than US standard size. Very patient associates as they try to understand your situation and help.
Fantastic experience: The staff was friendly, and courteous.. And i got what i needed
Positive experience: It was a long wait, but our Customer Service Rep, Dave, was outstanding.
Fantastic experience: Very coordinator with there services highly recommend for all aaa services
Fantastic experience: My daughter and I needed to renew our drivers licenses 8/9/21. “Eugene” at PennDot at AAA East Liberty had a remarkably nice and welcoming presence and was very professional. Encountering a positive employee makes a huge difference in people’s days.
Fantastic experience: Tow truck driver Andrew was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and friendly. Even went out of their way to help you
Fantastic experience: Went in for a driver's license renewal and was out in less than 15 minutes. Lianna was really nice and efficient.
Negative experience: They process people's requests so slowly. No sense of urgency.
Fantastic experience: Lines were long but moved quickly. Good service
Negative experience: I wish I could give NO stars! Didn't get past the guard dog they have at the receptionist desk. I guess that's how they operate, trying to so call, weed out the AAA potential customers from the AAA problems. I would never use them for insurance or anything travel oriented because they have the rudest "customer service" and their automated phone line is a JOKE...and not in a hahaha this is funny way.
Fantastic experience: Thank you for your assistance. I was able to sign up an utilize the Roadside Assistance after midnight. However two Representatives may not been aware that the services were needed Immediately and advised me that the full AAA plus was available. Actually I was only able to get basic until the 7 day waiting period. Otherwise everything went just fine.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful. Was fast and easy. Very friendly people.
Negative experience: This AAA branch and division is frankly terrible. I had AAA for years in California (10 of them!) and was never treated as poorly as I have always been treated here. The DMV services here are especially poor. The employees here have no idea what they're doing. They have multiple times given me wrong information and sent me to another AAA office that was closed. They're utterly incompetent Typically wait times are long but you can enjoy the view of manyemployees behind the counter doing nothing. Why are they not helping customers? Why is this place so poorly managed? Do they get paid for being there? Are they perhaps holographic projections? Who knows! It's even the head regional office so I can only imagine how bad the other offices must be. My best advice is go to a real notary and get roadside from someone other than AAA. I don't think I'll be renewing my membership.
Positive experience: Services (duplicate title) weren't available when I visited AAA's @ this location.
Fantastic experience: They went out of the way to help me. Very pleased with the service and professionality of everyone working there.
Negative experience: No matter the weather or location, or length of membership, or age, or type of membership, it takes 4 or more hours to get roadside service. It wasn’t like that a few years ago but the change in service was abrupt. Cold and snow, 6 to 7 hours, nice sunny day with no traffic 4 to 5 hours. Better be by your car when they call or… The phone technicians have pleasant voices once you reach them after navigating through an annoying automated sequence of choices. I have one but a number of people who need emergency roadside service do not have smart phones or access to the website. So it’s a phone loop of no real service. Prompts like, ‘some one is on the way’, or ‘you’re next in line’ or ‘you will get a call as soon as someone is available’ fill in persons name…avoids giving out any real pertinent information. I’m guessing that because the dispatching is all cattywampus, the actual workers are overbooked. There is a breakdown somewhere and it is unfortunate for the customer. Maybe it’s regional and other areas are satisfied with their service. It seems dangerous to wait in certain circumstances especially depending on your age or health or gender. It shouldn’t just be a money grab for some and a constant overbook for others. The rate is the same whether you get a clown or great service and the odds are not in the customers favor.
Positive experience: Had to check in a few times with various people which was slightly annoying then had to wait for the travel agent who happened to be at lunch. He was kind and helpful despite being new to the position. I was able to take care of the things I needed to but I was there approximately 2 hours. Also there were NO PUBLIC BATHROOMS, that was the most frustrating part.
Fantastic experience: Good place for travel plans and help me to get the best hotel and rental car
Positive experience: We went to get our passport photos taken.
Positive experience: Services is pretty efficient once you're permitted to go to where the customer service reps are. Someone meets you at the bottom of the steps to directs you where to go, but while you were upstairs you have to register, hopefully they ask you all the relevant questions, then wait upstairs to be called downstairs this is where it gets a little hairy there's not enough seating people are standing everywhere and you're not quite sure where the line starts but again that all depends on the time of day you go
Fantastic experience: Convenient place. Neat dome, COVID aware, handles auto paperwork rapidly.
Fantastic experience: They were great! Great technology to say when the tow truck will arrive. Super friendly driver! I have been a member ever since I got my license and the piece of mind knowing they are there when I need them is invaluable!
Negative experience: Just left there today at 12:05 p.m. they got three girls standing behind one desk talking about lunch and what they're getting for lunch they got another guy with dreads walking around doing nothing they got another lady just sitting here at the desk doing nothing and nobody will help you in this place they just sit you in a chair for hours until your name's called they don't even want to do their job they don't even want to interact with the people this is the worst AAA office I ever been at my life if you could go to any other one go to it this one that people here are completely lazy and do not want to work All that being said I was there trying to spend two or $3,000 on five bus going on vacation and I wanted to get a AAA Plus membership couldn't get that either and I had to leave to go to a different travel agency to get service!!!
Positive experience: Under quarantine restrictions, wait times are longer
Fantastic experience: Quick fast easy. Driver license renewal and AAA membership in out ten minutes service people on point very nice
Positive experience: One check-in desk creates a long line and wait to get to the service desired
Fantastic experience: Signed up for AAA, awesome service
Fantastic experience: Very good fast pace and understanding staff thanks
