Fantastic experience: The best! We have rafted with them 3 times in the past… tried a new company a few years ago because Ohiopyle trading post did not have any times available on the date we wanted. We had the worst and most terrifying experience and never wanted to get back in a raft again (with the other company). Fast forward 3 years later and we had friends who asked if we could do a group rafting trip so we decided to try again (this time we were going back to Ohiopyle trading post because I had always had a good time with them!) and we had the BEST time today. I fell in love with the river all over again. I will say, the guide makes the trip! And Ohiopyle Trading Post has the best guides. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If I could have picked the perfect river guides, It would be the ones we got today. Garth and Rodney were so incredibly confident, knowledgeable, calm, and fun. I will be requesting them for future trips

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience and one of the best white water rafting in the country. Staff were extremely kind and made us feel comfortable. Excellent scenic view throughout the 7.3 mile stretch and breathtaking experience. You can get down on the river and swim . Highlight is the jump from 25 foot rock into the river and we all did it first time and it’s very safe and fun. NICK was awesome and great guide . We loved the experience.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time white water rafting and my group chose to do the advanced upper yough route. Our guide Caleb was incredible during his initial safety brief. The instructions were clear and concise. Once on board the raft, we had a great time chatting and floating until we got to the real fun! Caleb was an excellent guide, giving clear instructions the entire time. I felt completely confident in his abilities and it made the experience very comfortable and fun. We had an excellent trip and would definitely go again! Caleb is an excellent guide to have and remains calm and confident when the river throws new challenges at the tour. Would definitely recommend the company and Caleb if you are looking for a safe and fun adventure down the river!

He went above and beyond providing snacks, taking pictures of our group with his personal phone (since we didn’t bring ours on the raft), and kept us entertained with his jokes. Positive experience: Me and other 8 friends of mine wanted to experience river rafting on lower Yough river and I happened to call this place. I am so glad I went with this 3 of friends didn't knew how to swim and our rafting guide Dane made is so simple and safe for us. He shared his experience, shared his stories and about the river and instill confidence to do it again. Initially I wanted to give 5 star the only reason I ended up with 4 stars is cause of price 116 dollar is little pricy. We enjoyed the rapid, swim in cold river and most fun was jumping over the rocks. I want to do it again.

Fantastic experience: We did a guide escort tour of the lower yough and had a great time. The escort guides Jillian and Riley were very helpful making sure we got through the rapids safely and the other boat guides Sammy and Dan were making sure we were doing the right thing even though we weren't in their boat. All the guides were friendly and fun, and made sure you were prepared but having a good time. Have done about a half dozen rafting trips and this was one of the best.

Fantastic experience: Just finished a fantastic flyfishing float trip with Ohiopyle Trading Post and our guide, JT, on the middle Youghiogheny. Fishing was slow at first, but we landed many 16-20" trout when we reach the more productive sections. JT is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who worked hard to get us into fish. Interestingly, a very inexperienced kayaker had the good fortune of being upstream from us when he capsized his boat. JT rescued the kayaker, boat, and paddle while handling the whole situation with the utmost professionalism. I will definitely book with them again.

We felt like we've known her forever and that we could trust her with our lives (obviously) Honestly, the WHOLE gang was great!!! Garth was very informative while he was prepping all the groups before we even got in the water. We've hit the river with almost every company there at one time or another.. these folks were by far the best we've had! The company was well experienced and well equipped for all possibilities. We will be back with this team again and again!! They even offer kayaking lessons (which we plan on doing!) We were confident in our guide and able to enjoy every min!!

Fantastic experience: PHENOMINAL experience. We took a group of 40 (mostly middle and high schoolers) to do white water rafting. We had 7 rafts and a guide in each. I could not recommend this more. We spent three hours on the river doing class 3 and 4 rapids. Had a break halfway through with snacks, swimming, and jumping off a rock. It was so much fun, everyone in our raft had a blast. Our guide was super knowledgeable and masterfully navigated us through the rapids.

Fantastic experience: We booked today for the 11:30, 5 of us have been rafting there several times and it was my first time. Our guide Gillian was great, our trip down the river was calm and easy, great conversation with the guide. However we experienced what was worst case scenario. Coming down past Dimple/ pinball rock we approached dimple fast and collided by the time we acted to move towards the other side of the raft we were flipped into the water. I was trapped under which felt like a whirlpool that kept me trapped water keeping my head down when my boyfriends father pulled me out, my boyfriend was headed towards rocks and he used his arm to brace himself ended up lodged and dislocated his shoulder, and the rest of our group was picked up by other boats. I am giving 5 stars because the guides sprang into action immediately especially because of after we tipped another two boats tipped as well. The guide Riley threw my boyfriend a rope to get him back safely, and another guide with a different group helped us. They got us up to the road and instead of taking us to the car he drove us quickly to the closest hospital which we are so grateful for. We will be back once we are healed next year to try again! When you are booking keep in mind the water levels and be honest with your experience level, and pay attention to the safety instructions!! These instructions saved my life, toes up baby!!! What doesn’t seem like a dangerous situation can quickly turn and we are glad the guides where there to help us out of it.

Fantastic experience: Great experience all the way around.. If you do not have experience with white water be sure to spend the extra money and go with a guide. Our guide was Rodney, he is GREAT. ALL of the crew is great. The crew is super helpful to everyone on the River. Not just their company customers. Rodney told us what was going to happen with each rapid and what to do. Then made sure we were all okay after. There is a stop in the middle for snacks, drinks and jumping from a huge rock. There is a place we all got out of the boat and into the water. Getting back in the boat. Hmmmm, let’s say you wouldn’t want that on camera. We learned the history of the River and surrounding area. We will do this again and we will request Rodney!

Fantastic experience: Had great guides and had just an amazing time even tho we went guidless all 3 of them where amazing in getting is down the river safely

Negative experience: We came out for a family reunion at Seven Springs Resort and wanted to do some rafting with our 7 year olds, they recommended the middle section which is only for inflatable 1-2 person duckies. First we booked for 1130/12 because the rest of our family was at 11:30 rafting as well and they had us down for 10am. Seemed weird but they accommodated easily enough. Then our driver almost ran off the road and was very careless while driving, almost lost a raft off the trailer. He also almost forgot to inflate part of raft and very hurriedly explained and dropped us off. The paddle down took like 4-5 hours of non stop paddling. It was either over rocks or river was not moving. It was truly awful for families and when my husband booked he asked what the tour would be like and they didn’t disclose any of this. Seemed like they just wanted our money and couldn’t care less if we had a good time. We were all exhausted and cranky and I would definitely not recommend this for families at all. My husband’s back support deflated and had to do the entire thing without any back support whatsoever. The rest of the fam had a good time on the higher level water rafting tours although some of them said some of the guides were not very good. Seemed just very unprofessional and not really looking out for their customers.

Fantastic experience: Two of us went with OTP Saturday on the Upper Yough, and we couldn't have asked for a better trip! I've been wanting to do this section of the river for years, and it was everything I hoped for. We were the only two customers in our raft - and on the trip - so we got right in on all the action. Our guide, Scott, positioned us perfectly for every run - neither of us fell out of the boat despite some big drops. He also got us ahead of the crowds from other rafting companies, so we never had to wait at the bottlenecks that usually form upstream of big rapids. He still managed to keep us in the high water from the dam release. Safety kayaker/photographer Caleb got fantastic action photos, plus was fun to watch negotiate the whitewater. We got to surf twice, and got to jump off a rock into the river. They even took us to a hidden spring where we could refill our water bottles with the best water I've ever tasted. The boats were self-bailing and in great condition - it's the first time I've been in a commercial raft with the footholds still intact. We had a wonderful time!

Fantastic experience: Meech is a phenomenal kayaking instructor. As soon as we got to the water he helped me get a solid roll my first try. He also was encouraging the whole time. Meech gave me instrumental tips on how to kayak better. Even if you swim he makes sure to be right there with your boat and paddle with a big supportive smile. I cannot recommend enough requesting Meech to be your kayaking instructor.

Fantastic experience: Pat was amazing! My partner and I went yesterday, and it was such a great experience. All the guides were professional and well-informed. Braxton did an excellent safety demo at the beginning that made everything seem less scary for first timers like us. Jay was super sweet when I was too scared to jump off the rock part way through and helped me back down. Pat was the absolute best! He told jokes the whole way through, gave info about the rapids and river, and answered any other questions we had. We got home and I immediately called my sister to see when she and her bf could come with us and if we could convince our elderly parents to do the class I and II tour Anyway, can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic experience: This experience was so exciting and memorable. From stepping out at the trading post to finishing up the day- it was a blast. There were bathrooms and hot showers. Mid way through the trip were snacks. The guides- yes there were multiple guides, were there to teach and truly guide you. Warning- you WILL get wet. Helmet and life jacket provided. We all took our own Water bottles and put them in the boat with us. This was a fantastic experience!!

Positive experience: I recently rafted the Upper Yough with a group of friends. I cannot speak highly enough about our guide, Scott. His incredible skill controlling the raft in level 5 rapids, while maintaining complete calmness, was something to behold. He got us out of several tricky situations. I was quite nervous with this being my first time whitewater rafting, but having such an experienced guide made it an amazing adventure, something everyone should try at least once.

Fantastic experience: Been faithful to OTP since last year and it will continue to be that way. We've completed the middle(rental),lower x4 (guided trip) and upper x1(guide in raft). Every experiance was AMAZING and this is coming from someone who is actually scared of water! I have felt safe on every single trip . I actually fell out the raft on the upper in the Charlie's choice rapid and I was swiftly rescued by the guides. I said I would NEVER try white water rafting and here I am on my 2nd year hooked on rafting all thanks to OTP making each experience one to remember!

Negative experience: This was my third time rafting the yough (upper twice and lower once) and both times before this one were awesome. Scott/3 was my guide before this trip and he made it that much more enjoyable. This last time I went on the upper (9/29/23) with a new guide that was extremely rude. I have a lot of respect for the river guides because it takes a lot of technical skill to do what they do but there’s a difference between yelling at someone to be heard over the water and yelling at someone out of anger and calling them “sweetheart” in such a derogatory and embarrassing way. And this wasn’t just a one time occurrence; Riley maintained a sour attitude until we were past all of the class V and IV rapids. Aside from that, he definitely knows his stuff and got us out of some difficult spots. Hoot was the camera man and driver and was awesome to be around. It was still great being out there despite all of that and I deeply enjoy rafting the yough but next time I think I’ll use another company in case I’m paired up with him for a guide again. When you book, make sure to request any guide except Riley.

Positive experience: Very mixed reviews. Impressed by the quality of equipment and beauty of the Middle Yough route. We brought young children with us and with the river flow up a bit, there was more white water than expected with several rocks that needed to be navigated. We got stuck a couple times and even had someone thrown out. It was a looooong trip down, taking 4 hours, which they prepared us well for. The owner was responsive and polite when we had some concerns and handled them promptly. We are thankful for that.

Fantastic experience: OTP has knowledgeable guides who put safety first and guest experience second, great equipment, a friendly staff, and an overall wonderful experience. The best business in town.

Negative experience: Their gear was in good condition and of good quality so it helped me to guide my friends down the LY. Their staff was not very helpful in the least. They would not let me pick up the raft or deliver it like other outfitters do and had us carry it by hand across the street. When I asked to use the bathroom, they simply told me that there was a bathroom at the visitors center. When I returned to drop off the raft they told us to wait until they were no longer in the alley, which surprised me as I would have expected them to tell me to park across the street so I could hand carry the raft again. I'm giving them two stars, because they did have decent rafts. There are other outfitters in the area with better customer service so I would suggest using them instead.

Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic time on the Lower Yough with our guide Jude. He was very clear with his instructions and delivered them in such a way that we all knew what to do as we made our way down the river. He was engaging and fun to talk with throughout the trip. Two of the four of us went in at Dimple Rock and Jude was able to maintain control of the raft and pull the two of us back in right in the middle of the rapids as we were right between a large rock and the raft. I would recommend OTP to anyone looking to raft in the area.

Positive experience: These people are super friendly and very friendly. We did the Pedal/Paddle where you take one of their rental bikes and travel up river 9 miles. They meet you there with watercraft to float down the Middle Yough back to Ohiopyle. We chose to use Duckies, which are inflatable kayaks. The entire trip took 6 hours. The bike part was wonderful. The river was low, and we got stuck multiple times in the shallow areas. Great exercise because you have to work to get through these areas. A couple of nice rapids that were a blast. The only problem was my duckie seat back leaked all the air, so I had no seat back most of the trip
