Negative experience: I had a very frustrating experience with AAA car service. They clearly don’t care about appointment times. Even for something as simple as an oil change, they told me it would take about an hour—but it ended up taking 3 to 4 hours! Their appointment system is completely broken, making it pointless to book a specific time. If you’re not planning to drop off your car and pick it up at the end of the day, don’t even bother. The lack of respect for customers’ time is unacceptable. The reason simple oil change takes 3 hours is because they are inspecting the car for things to repair. And when they say that something “requires urgent attention” like break pads, air filter or tires it usually means that you can drive for another 20k miles before really needing to replace them.

Negative experience: I was going to go to this location to get a car inspection, but every single, and i mean every single, question I asked the girl who answered, with regard to doing a car inspection was answered like I was keeping her from doing something and in a negatory. And she might say its because the questions I was asking just warranted that response. Well no. Have you ever been talking to someone and you immediately get the impression that they simply do not want to help you figure it out or get something accomplished? Thats what happened here. I wanted to get our car inspected, and they couldn't do it that same day with the hour and a half that was left, which was A-ok, but when I began to ask her about other days and times and how long one would take if we waited, every single answer was as if I was interfering in her day! So this AAA member will not be going to Ballantyne's location until they make sure that whomever is answering their phones, is going to be kind, polite, and helpful! Speaking with a smile on their faces!

Fantastic experience: Stopped in to this AAA location after an unexpected flat tire just after grocery shopping and the service was amazing. Immediately upon entering the facility, David was extremely pleasant and helpful and did his best to help me remain calm and figure out the next steps in getting a new tire on my car. David informed me that my tire size was in stock and could possibly be changed the same day. He also asked if I was a AAA member and he went over all three memberships with me in great detail. David also went above and beyond by assisting me with getting my groceries situated in my wagon as I now had to prepare to walk home until my car was finished. Upon picking up my car, David asked had I decided on a AAA membership to sign up for at which point his coworker (didn’t get his name but just as friendly and professional as David) assisted me with the sign up process. I am very pleased with the customer service received at this location and I look forward to working with this team on future car repairs and other services provided now that I am first time AAA member. Great customer service is challenging to find these days, but this team definitely has it.
Fantastic experience: They were able to figure out a very specific issue with my Hyundai after some generic check engine light codes and fixed same day. Having the overnight key drop is a huge plus!

Negative experience: Please don’t take your car here, ever. Two days ago my engine light went on, it scared me as I know it’s seriously so I impulsively stopped here. I spoke with two men, individually, so very unfriendly so very rude , one said this is not the office the other shunned me away as I was in a cars way trying to pull out. I was so put off that I left. I explained to them why I need someone to please check. In the end leaving there my car did seize on me and I was stuck. The damage now is probably worse.

Negative experience: Went there today to do state inspection. It was very quick and I appreciate that. The bad part is that the mechanic hit the lift post with the driver side door, twice (see attached). Unfortunately, I'm not going to be coming back. I'm more appreciative of when someone else's property is treated with respect and care.

Negative experience: Have tried 3 times during working hours to get my international drivers license and every single time no one has been there working. The same person at the front says they sometimes go home early or come in late or not at all. It's bad enough the hours are only M-F 9-5 making it near impossible for working people to go but if you take time off work to go, don't expect anyone to even be there. It's absolutely ridiculous

Fantastic experience: International Driving Permit (IDP) - We were worried this might take forever, but we were done in under 10 min! We were directed to Lizzie (I think Membership Services), and she was so kind, quick, and helpful. We had filled out the application at home, but they also have them there. Once filled out, they put the information in, take your photo ($12 if you're not a AAA member), then put everything together so the only reason you have to wait would be for the ink from the stamps to dry. It's $20 for the permit, so for two people and photos plus tax, it was $65.74. The permit lasts for a year, and the earliest you can get it is 6 months out. Great experience, and again, Lizzie was awesome!
Negative experience: Went for a state inspection and I was told I needed a new cabin air filter . They claimed it had a whole bunch of leaves in it. They Left it apart with a bunch of leaves that were from the area around. That's the first part of it and then they tried to charge me for a new air cabin filter which they didn't even replace. Not to mention I have taken my truck to get an oil change at another AAA location and one week later there was a sensor that went bad that had to get replaced through the dealership which they couldn't tell me exactly how it was broken it look like somebody had pulled on the wire.
Negative experience: Had to wait over 2 weeks for an appointment for a state inspection (a solid 15 minute job), but I did this because I'm a AAA member and I (used to) respect the brand. I arrive to find out there's 4 cars ahead of me and an hour wait. That's not an appointment and it's insulting. I would gladly wait an hour for a walk in, but what is the point of an appointment? Never again. Lost a customer for life.
Fantastic experience: Best service ever! My right turn signal was not working and I took it for a peek to get fixed. A guy by the name Warren took us out to show us what was wrong and it turned out to simply be a light bulb change. He gave us some advice about the issue and put the fix on the house. Very kind and the service was quite fast. He did not try to over sell us but rather keep us informed about future issues.

Negative experience: BEWARE OF AAA BALLANTYNE! My wife took her car to AAA in Ballantyne yesterday for an oil change and tire rotation. AAA will always do a "bumper to bumper" inspection regardless of your reason for being there, ostensibly for your "peace of mind" but the reality is they are looking for anything they can to increase your bill. They sent my wife their "Vehicle Inspection Report" stating there is an issue that required "urgent attention". The report said her car was in urgent need of brake pad and rotor replacement at a cost of nearly $500. They even sent a picture of the "worn out" rotor that I am quite certain was from somebody else's car. I am capable of replacing brake pads myself, done it dozens of times. I purchased new pads ($60) and got to work. Upon my inspection I found that the brake pads probably have another 15-20k miles before replacement is needed and the rotors are in pristine condition. Bottom line: AAA lied to my wife (I have photographic proof) and attempted to sell her a ton of expensive and completely unnecessary service and even got an attitude when she declined. Have to wonder if this would have happened had I brought the car in myself instead of my wife?

Fantastic experience: I don't really know much about cars and cost for labor but in my 12 years of going, I have never felt that I was being ripped off. There were a couple of guys there that I really liked and we would laugh and joke a lot but they're gone now so it makes me a little sad. The new people are nice and professional and if you have questions they are more than happy provide you with a clear explanation. I've had to use their shuttle service a few times which is a really nice option to have when you don't feel like waiting around. I remember bringing the car in without an appointment on my way to work one morning because one of my wipers stopped working and it was raining so that needed to be handled ASAP. One of the guys that's no longer there was working that morning, immediately took my keys and took my car to the back. Minutes later he came back and gave me my keys. I can't remember what the issue was but he told me and I walked up to the desk to pay, he waved his hand and said it was free because it was so minor. You don't get a lot of freebies these days so I really appreciated it. They need to put the vending machine back in the waiting area. I need my peanut M&Ms!

Negative experience: Bad experience! Went to this AAA because I am a AAA member. Tire pressure was low. Asked the guy at the desk if they could check the tire for obstructions and put air in tire. He said they where booked up for the day and could only put air in the tire. He also suggested I go to Discount Tire down the road. Really! Send your business to another company!! Going to Discount Tire was a huge mistake. They where also extremely busy and don't listen to what customers need!! So you wait in line for nothing to get done!!
Fantastic experience: I had a an alignment issue with my truck and I needed it fixed right away. AAA was amazing, I called them Wednesday and had an appointment the next day. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. I dropped the truck off in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon. The alignment was perfect, and my truck is lifted with large tires which makes aligning more challenging.
Negative experience: Just had to share this. A very good friend of mine took her 2018 Hyundai with only 38,000 miles on it in for an oil change and tire rotation last week. She is an older single lady with a very limited income. They scared/convinced her that she needed a fuel injector cleaning, a complete radiator flush, new brake pads as well as new rotors, and a myriad of other services that she absolutely did not need at only 38,000 miles. Her total bill come out to around $1,100!!!! The services she really needed should have cost no more than $150 at the end of the day. Shame on you AAA Car Care in Ballantyne for your predatory sales practices on an unknowing older individual!! I will be sharing this post on all social media to everyone in the Ballantyne/South Charlotte area and urge them to boycott your business!! Such an absolute disgrace you are to the local business community!! EVERYONE BEWARE!!

Fantastic experience: Had phenomenal work done at the AAA in Ballantyne and always recommend their services. They were extremely courteous throughout my visit and they took the extra time to ensure that I was pleased with their work. The technicians made quick work of a faulty fuel pump on my mustang. The front office (Jacob and team) were communicative and transparent throughout my visit and helped me schedule my next visit for an alignment. I don't take my car anywhere else.
Fantastic experience: I would, and do, drive an extra half hour out of my way, and take time off of work, just so I can have Warren Turnipseed at the Ballantyne AAA location oversee my service. Warren is trustworthy, thorough and honest - three qualities that you can't always find in automotive repair environments. When Warren tells you something needs done, it does, and he will seek every discount in the name of good service. If Warren tells you it's good, that your car is fine, you can believe that too. Kudos to the professionals at Ballantyne AAA, and especially a shout out to my trusted pal Warren, who sets my mind at ease regarding my beloved Audi Q5. I wish they were all like him.

Fantastic experience: The team at AAA, specifically Warren & Dave along with Alex (technician), were wonderful in trouble-shooting and fixing the problems my daughter was having with her car! They are very trustworthy and kept me informed throughout the multi-day fix. I highly recommend them and will continue to use them for car repairs. They even took time to give a little "car responsibility" talk to my teenager so she was aware of things to look out for with her car! They went above and beyond!

Fantastic experience: AAA Ballantyne is AWESOME!! They gave me FREE SERVICE! My car was having battery / electrical issues. I took it to one mechanic to put in a new battery but he said he couldn't fix the alternator. I took it to Firestone to fix the alternator and $700 later they said they couldn't fix the wiring harness because they didn't have a wiring diagram for my car. So I took it to AAA Ballantyne and Dave had his expert mechanic look at it. I needed to get it fixed immediately or leave it for a week because of my work situation. Within 5 minutes Dave confirmed there was a wiring harness missing but that I could drive it back home 100 miles away without any problems. He did all this for FREE! And he was right!! We drove the car back to Winston-Salem without any problems, and we are going to contact AAA here and have them repair the wiring harness. My car died on highway 485 in a very dangerous place and it took me 24 hours to get it towed after working with four different tow companies and DOT. Then it took three different mechanics to get the right answer. It seems like nobody wants to do the difficult things, but two companies really came through for me Dellinger Towing had my car towed in 5 minutes, and AAA Ballantyne gave me the answer I needed within 5 minutes. These are the people you want to work with when it matters!!

Positive experience: The staff were professional and courteous. The repair went well. The price was reasonable. The only problem was when I picked the the car up just before closing, in the pouring rain, it was drivable, but the check engine light was still on and the customer interface had a warning to check the traction system. I would have expected this to have been addressed before the car was turned back over to the customer! I had to get home in the pouring rain and wait until the next day to check in out. There were two error codes regarding the air flow and the air temperature. Checking under the hood, I found that there was a plug to the mass flow control box which was unplugged. I reconnected the plug and reset the OBD II Code checker, started the car and the check engine light was off and the traction warning message was gone. To me, this was something that a more thorough review of the engine compartment would have found and why the car was said to be ready when the check engine light was still on, is beyond me. Negative experience: I has my alternator replaced in 2019 . Warranty is for 2 years and 20k miles. April of 2022 I’m back again to replace the same part . An alternative should not die in a little over 2 years . If the manufacturer could be contacted or some other remedy sought . I came to care center about three times before my car stopped on the side of the road .Each time I was told car was fine . I believe this all could have been avoided prior to being told oh my warranty has run out .

Positive experience: My wife brought in her car for service but all questions come to her husband for comments. She brought car in at 9:30 for oil change and tire rotation but car was not ready until 3:30. She called three times to see when car would be ready they said they would check but didn’t call back, but last person did call. To make things right next oil change will be free.
Positive experience: Oil change with tires rotation. On previous visit, I was told lug nuts were swollen. I brought new lug nuts on next visit. I was charged a quarter hour labor to remove swollen lug nuts (49.99) even though they had to rotate the tires. Legit, I don't know it felt like it was shady.
Fantastic experience: The process of making an appointment was easy, the check-in was quick, the vehicle was thoroughly checked over and the needed service accomplished, and the check-out was quick and offered additional information on recalls and other information on the car.
Fantastic experience: My girlfriends car needed it’s starter and a crank position sensor replaced and my car needed an oil change and tire alignment. Both were done quickly and everyone working there was very professional. I appreciate that they let us take our time and make our own decisions regarding the starter and CPS replacement since it was a larger repair we weren’t expecting. They also let us choose to do a remanufactured starter instead of OEM and use a different supplier for the crank position sensor that dropped the price a bit. I really appreciated that there was no up-charging or getting charged for things that weren’t done like at some other garages. Overall I would highly recommend coming here for both routine maintenance or for larger repairs, both instances were awesome and I’ll certainly be back

Fantastic experience: This AAA Service Center is amazing. From making the appointment on line, to being warmly greeted upon my arrival, all went smoothly. JC was so kind, & he had all the information, including applicable discounts, I had, right there. I decided not to stay, & he offered to call my a Lyft, paid for by AAA, & one to bring me back later - so accommodating! Once I got home, I got both texts & phone calls from JC every step of the way: when my car got taken for assessment, findings, even links to the service documents complete with photos. I also was called when they determined my alignment was off, recommending service soon. I asked if it could be done right now, & was told yes. And, JC gave me another discount for that!! A hour later I was picking up my car, feeling safe, respected, & valued. Thank you all.

Negative experience: Very unhappy with all that happened, went to get a new starter for my car and it was replaced in a timely fashion and a job well done, however they had left my sun roof and driver side window down and my windows haven’t worked in months if not years, he was very rude and insisted that my car came to the lot with the windows down and there is nothing he could do to fix it without having to charge me a large amount more. I pointed out there was finger prints on my window from what I think is the workers trying to pull my window back up after putting it down. It is to my understanding car places such as AAA have to open a window when they bring it into the shop, which is said reason for it being opened, however I’m not too sure why they even touched my sun roof, i also saw oil marks and disgusting spotty dirty marks on my driver side door as well. And if all that wasn’t enough they went through my car and were touching receipts that wasn’t even from AAA. They will not fix it and told me “if the windows are broken how did we put them down”. I’m not too sure but you do work at a mechanic shop and have tools to do so as I do not. The windows were up on arrival because they do not work. They put them down and they don’t want to put labor and time into something they messed up. Poor business and inadequate customer service. Was also very angry about my door and how dirty they left it, oil fingerprints everywhere, even some of the cloth has changed color. Absolutely disgusted....

Fantastic experience: I love the service I get from one of the gentlemen who works the Car Care desk there. He's always so helpful, friendly, professional, and in my mind, goes above and beyond my expectations. I'm always happy when I get him to check me in/out. And I've never had any issue with the service this location provides me. They do a good job of letting me know how long it will take and pretty much meet their estimates.
Negative experience: I was told i needed a tune up due to carbon build up on my sparkplugs. I did a tune up in October of 2020, it is currently June of 2021. I checked my sparkplugs when i got home and there was no carbon build up! did they not notice the new spark plug wires, the new gasket, the new power steering hose, and the new master cylinder.
Positive experience: They give their customers alot of attention. They were very kind when offering me options. I had gone to Park Rd to get an estimate on tire barrings, that was the only thing that didnt work out as planned because either they didnt tell me the price for both* or I didn't remember what they had said it would be. I went to this location to get the reoair done after realizing it was down the street. Got one barring changed, 3 hours of wait time for the delivery and work to be completed, that was what I estimated I waited. They have a desk area where you can sit and work, so that helped me out alot because I had alot of reading and writing homework.

Fantastic experience: This would be the second time I went to this facility to have work done on my car. The first time around about a year or two ago I had to get the blower fixed because my air conditioning didn't work and neither did my humidifier which made it very dangerous to drive in fact the day I took it and it was raining and I'm lucky I didn't end up on a curb because of the lack of good visibility. I did a great job fixing it and it's been working fine ever since which is awesome. This time I brought it in for a oil leak that I've had for some time and so far so good I just picked it up yesterday. Taking it back in 2 weeks to make sure it's been done well and it's not leaking at all. I've always felt taken care of in a good way at this facility. The people that work there, that I've met, are very pleasant and very helpful and will answer any questions you might have.
