AAA - Wendover

Negative experience: My wife and I recently took my mother-in-law's vehicle for a diagnostic test because of a coolant leak. I was first quoted $70. When we took the car for the diagnostic test, another service agent said it would cost $150. Thankfully, the service agent who quoted the price of $70 was present and informed the other service agent. We received an invoice for repair costs, which totaled $1886.00. We were told that the water pump and thermostat needed to be replaced. My mother-in-law doesn't drive that often, and her car isn't old, so that didn't seem right. We spoke with a few other mechanics, and they doubted the need for what AAA suggested. We ended up taking it to a shop next door to AAA and got the problem fixed for $350! AAA used to be known for its integrity, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem that way anymore. They quoted more than $1500 more than the actual cost of repairing the vehicle.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful professional services. Hayden was very courteous and helpful with my car care. Brian was very helpful over the phone in my car emergency directing me to this location for speedy service. Definitely recommend this AAA location services.

Fantastic experience: Brought my car in for routine maintenance and an oil change. Staff was very helpful and Randall in Greensboro did an awesome job! I have an older car and appreciated that they checked in when services were needed to be added on with price checks.

Negative experience: Why am I sitting in a parking lot 3 hours after you said you would be here, oh because you didn't dispatch a tow properly! Do not recommend their service.

Fantastic experience: I called several places before deciding to go with this shop. I came in for a transmission fluid and Troy was very helpful from the start and end of my service. Jason did an overall check on my car and even let me know I needed my cabin air filter replaced. They offered and matched a good price that I couldn't deny. Friendly staff and great customer service on my end!

Negative experience: I have been patronizing this AAA car care center on Sapp Road for more than 5 years, but no more. Similar to other reviews, I have noticed a significant decline in the level of customer service over the past couple of years. And most recently, I have left feeling that I was taken advantage of by this car care center. Yesterday, I dropped my wife's car off for an oil change, tire rotation and state inspection. My overall experience consisted of the following: 1) I was told that the wiper blades, which were new from Feb. (installed by SafeLite), would have to be replaced in order to pass inspection; 2) the price I was quoted over the phone was not the same as when I arrived to pick up my car (the invoice indicated that I had approved a second charge by phone which I had not); and 3) I felt somewhat helpless and was not treated with the respect I felt I deserved, especially as a long time customer. I was left, yet again, with an extremely bad taste in my mouth after this service experience with AAA on Sapp Road. I will not be returning and I suggest that you try other car care centers as well!

Fantastic experience: Where to start? Randall, Jeff, and Jason really saved the day. Late afternoon on a Friday and our alternator gives out. Baby, toddler, wife, and myself stranded on 40. Get towed to this shop and it’s almost closing time. Guys stayed late battled a bad part and got us back on the road for our weekend getaway. Could have easily said it’s closing time and left us scrambling for a hotel and next day service. They got it done and we couldn’t be more thankful. Appreciate the extra effort more than you know

Negative experience: Extremely expensive! avoid them, only reason I came here is because I had no choice. also requested an Inspection for my registration and they never did it. When I called back they acted confused and hung up. Do not go here!!! You Will spend a small fortune.

Fantastic experience: I was in town visiting, and my low tire light on the dash came on. I'm a AAA member and came over to get it checked and air added. They took care of it immediately, and everyone was so polite! I was on my way quickly and felt assured all was well.

Positive experience: They do good work; honest and on time. They're just expensive, only slightly less than the dealership.

Negative experience: I called the Office to purchase Discount tickets to Biltmore Estates, The lady was VERY rude, said she didn't "have time & you have to all back." I was appalled! I asked if she could return my call at her convenience, she said, "NO! Call back." I never got anyone to answer the phone the next 3 days that I called. POOR Business practices & NASTY Customer Service Representative!!!

Negative experience: Gf had to take her car here(unfortunately). These guys are crooks and lie about what needs to be done. The last time there, I’m sure they caused the problem to try to get another charge on us. I work at an auto parts store and instead I took home to fix it myself, but there wasn’t anything wrong. Do your bank account a favor and stay away from them.

Negative experience: Triple A let me down again. As a 35 year member, 2 pm I called for tow truck they said they were dispatching truck message me twice saying truck will be on its way at 1130 pm I called them back they said they couldn't find a truck to tow me 6 miles, will try again at 8am . I slept in cold truck with sleeping bag ended up calling my own truck at 8am was at shop in 30 minutes. Got some forms printed to mail to trippel A for reimbursement $160. Let's see how long that takes. They said 4 to 6 weeks. That is 3rd time AAA let me down. It really sucks when someone finally answers phone after 50 minute wait on hold then a person that doesn't speak English gets on phone that I can't understand. So I hang up and wait another 50 minutes maybe someone can speak English. The oriental women that kept laughing and saying yes really pissed me off . Everything I asked she said yes and ok then laughed.

Positive experience: Good service but very pricey.

Fantastic experience: Christy at AAA Travel is the best! She went over and beyond when helping me book a big European trip for my mom and I. She is not only knowledgeable, but very friendly as well.

Negative experience: Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. I reported needing assistance it is now 1:35 a.m. Thursday morning and no one has shown up AAA are liars and they make other companies look like inbred loosers

Negative experience: Very unhappy with the customer service I received from AAA. They did not seem to want to listen to my requests or compensate me for the trouble they were causing. I plan to cancel my membership because they are worthless and next time I'll just call a tow truck.

Negative experience: 1.5 hrs to do an oil change even though no one was ahead of me. 4 mechanics doing nothing.

Positive experience: Efficient at what they do. Just a bit pricey. Also, don't, totally, rely on estimates of cost, essentially, while on a budget.

Fantastic experience: My elderly father had a battery issue yesterday and Ronald who provided us AAA roadside assistance was a total gem and told me to tell my dad to bring the car here. (Over the phone bc I live out of state) My dad just called me completely elated telling me that the good folks at AAA - Wendover “treated me like an egg”. He’s over the moon about the service he received and I wanted to say thank you for providing such excellent service!

Negative experience: Bought the upgraded lifetime brake pads, apparently they have a different definition of lifetime. Wanted to charge me $198.00 to install the “free” brake pads but turning the rotors would have been extra and needed for any “warranty “. Lifetime brake pad are a scam! When I bought the pads and rotors the bill was $238.00. Now they only do brakes as a set (pads and rotors). I guess whoever thought that jacking up the price on pads knowing that honoring the warrantee would cost them nothing thought they were clever… didn’t figure in that people may never spend another penny there!

Negative experience: Just found out AAA failed to install the crush washer on the oil pan plug on my last oil change, 5,000 miles ago. They claim to be "master mechanics." I'll never take another vehicle there again.

Positive experience: I was a little disappointed that the coupon said the oil change would be 59.99 and after the fees it rang up $74 that was pretty disappointing and I felt the coupon was not reflective of the actual cost.

Negative experience: I used the travel services and had to have the itineraries updated several times because they were not what was requested. After getting the final itinerary the airplane seats were not what we requested after I had re-iterated numerous times what seats we wanted. I called in to the general number to speak with a manager and was routed to a different call center. I finally ended up getting a call from the manager whose only solution was to tell me that they use a 3rd party travel agent can't select seats, which the original travel agent never disclosed to me. Using a travel agent is supposed to make the process painless and this experience was unfortunately very painful. I really don't understand the value of having a AAA membership if you can't rely on all of the benefits that are supposed to part of the membership.

Fantastic experience: I called to schedule a wheel alignment for my car, and they did it the same day. They did an inspection on the entire vehicle, explained everything clearly, and did not push for any work. Brian did an excellent job.

Fantastic experience: Scheduled appointment to have brake work done, suspected I needed new pads. To my surprise, I was informed that my brakes were fine and needed no work! They didn't even charge for the inspection! Great place!

Negative experience: This place is the worst if you need help booking travel. The older woman just asked me if I wanted to go to Seattle OR Washington State...ugh. She also lied and told me there weren't any flights from the airport I wanted to use (there are- Ive used that airport in the past to go to Seattle). Very disappointing, folks.

Fantastic experience: Really good place. I had a problem that was part of a recall, and they did what was good for me and recommended me to go to the dealership to get fixes for free. They were mvery upfront and knowledge about the issue (2015 Sonata). Great staff and very trustworthy.

Negative experience: After the second visit there. Once again they used all my gas from a full tank when car was dropped off but when i came to pick it up they returned my car for a second time without gas and refused to replace what was used. No need for them to run a full tank of fuel unless they were joyriding.

I called and talked to Kevin and he did an amazing job correcting the situation. I would highly recommend this place. Also my sister's go to car repair place. Excellent customer service!!

Negative experience: People there are nice. However, I went for a simple oil change and it took over an hour while I watched. The last 30 minutes of which was my car done… with me waiting for no reason. Upon further inspection, oil was spilled all over the valve-cover, ignition coils, and engine causing a burning smell. Not a huge deal, but sloppy slow work is not what you pay for. Try somewhere else.

Negative experience: Normally we love this place, because the manager Phillip Huffman is trustworthy and always so helpful & thorough. He explains any issues w/ our vehicles .Unfortunately, We were told yesterday he was moved to a different location . This news was very disappointing to me and my family . I don’t know if we will continue to go there because being able to trust the person dealing our cars is not something we take lightly. We always knew we could trust Phil’s guidance with our vehicles It’s rare to find these days. Most places rip you off every chance they get so not having that sense of security is very upsetting and definitely makes us reconsider going back.

Fantastic experience: Phillip and his team helped me out when I was stranded in Greensboro on a business trip from Charlotte to Raleigh. AAA towed me to the Wendover location where the driver told me I would be taken care of, and he was not wrong! I was greeted with friendly faces. After a diagnostic on my Kia Sorento Phillip pulled me aside and told me I had an Engine failure code on my car. He printed out information for me so I could be educated when I called Kia. There was a recall on my specific make and model. He took me to my car and talked me through what was happening with my engine. The team showed compassion and even tried to help procure a rental for me because I did not live in the location. I felt like I had been a customer for over 20 years. Highly recommend this entire team!
