From the moment I called and spoke with Tiffany I knew this was the kind of place that empathized customer service. Tiffany was so kind and was so great to communicate with. We had a guide for our four dives. Paula Theophilo was so incredible. Best guide and dive master we have had. She brought such enthusiasm and confidence with her. Fantastic experience: Everyone here is amazing. I did 8 dives with them thus week. Definite notable mention to Capt tanner and the dive master Paula were extra amazing !! Fantastic experience: I have dove around all of the dive masters here and all are nice and professional, but what sets this place apart is Paula. She is the nicest, most welcoming, and most hands on helpful divemaster I have ever met by a longshot. I have been on dives with her acting as dive master with friends getting back into scuba clearly as a noob and other instructors and regardless of my skill level as I progressed she always has my back and everyone elses. Even as simple as getting on the boat to offering great advice. Im always happy when she is the divemaster because although serious in the brief, she knows how to turn it around back to a fun atmosphere when the brief is over.

Fantastic experience: Aboard the Goliath, Captain John and CJ were absolutely amazing. They kept a positive attitude and were very helpful. All of us divers were completely happy with the trip and I caught 6 lobsters. One diver lost a piece of equipment and the crew saved his dive by loaning him the gear. I highly reccommend them!

Fantastic experience: I absolutely recommend South Florida Diving Headquarters to anyone wanting to go Scuba Diving in Pompano Beach, Florida. Today (8/12/24) and Yesterday (8/11/24) we went out with Paula and Jeremy (aka Tanner) and today especially they were able to give us one of the most special and amazing diving experiences my family and I have ever had. Both of them were super friendly, helpful and overall really fun to be around. Paula was especially helpful in getting me and my mom (who both have trouble pulling ourselves onto the boat with tanks on our backs) back onto the boat by grabbing our tanks as we came up the ladder and helping my mom in particular by helping her take her weights off on the ladder when she got stuck which allowed her to get onto the boat safely. Jeremy went the extra mile today by first dropping us specifically on a wreck near Crab Cove to give us the best chance at seeing a Nurse Shark, which was our main goal of coming to Pompano Beach. Though on that first dive we did not see said shark we still had an amazing dive where we saw a Barracuda and a giant pufferfish! The second dive we were taken to another reef where Jeremy brought us to a spot where he thought we'd be most likely to see a Nurse Shark, and we did 10 minutes into the dive! Not only did we see a Nurse Shark, but also a Goliath Grouper! SFDH and Jeremy and Paula especially are guaranteed to give you the most pleasant, exciting, and fun diving possible! I highly recommend them!

Fantastic experience: South Florida Diving Headquarters is an amazing dive center with dives for all levels. I have received the utmost care and respect even as a newbie of only a year's experience. SFDH also certified me and I always felt I was in amazing hands. I love that there are women professional divers here. I could not recommend a dive shop more: friendly, experienced, great dives (my fav is the Okinawa). Will see you all again next year!

Fantastic experience: For 20 years we have been diving with South Florida Diving Headquarters. Why? Because of their unwavering focus on safety and fun. This trip was no exception. Our three days of diving were exceptional and we walked away as always making new friends. Check-in was friendly. The captains dropped us on the reefs with precision. The dive masters were so helpful with grabbing our fins and equipment to make getting back on the boat easy. Tips for a great trip with SFDH: 1. Arrive early. Boat departure is on time. Plan on 30 min early at the minimum. If you show up at departure time you will not have enough time to get checked in and get your tanks and equipment on the boat. Not the first impression you want with your fellow divers. 2. Be proactive and own your diving. The captains and dive masters are extremely helpful, but they are not babysitters. If you need tanks, ask for tanks. If an O-ring messes up, ask your dive master. If you need someone to guide you underwater or put your gear together for you, hire a guide. 3. Tip well: the dive masters and captains work hard protecting you while underwater from other private boats and making sure you can safely and easily get on and off the boat. Before and after the dive they are lugging heavy tanks for you. They earn every dollar you give them. Can’t wait for our next return! Thanks SFDH for another amazing week!

On the Black Pearl with Captain Travis and Divemaster Moose, these team members work to ensure you have the best experience. Everyone aboard had two enjoyable dives at Ant Beds Reef and the Ancient Mariner Wreck. Visibility was 80’ or more. Photos by Paula below of just some of the sights. Fantastic experience: So Much Fun!!! The Discovery Experience consisted of our instructor, Aria, teaching us the basics in the pool during our morning session. She was informative, calm, patient & Fun! We took a break during lunch, and our afternoon session included a charter with the “Black Pearl”! Captain Tanner and Paula were awesome! They gave an excellent safety briefing, explaining what to expect with the tidal drift (especially for us newbies!) Also, the benefit of having a water taxi right there to pick everyone up after each dive! Once in Open Water, we felt super safe with Aria right there… We visited the Copenhagen wreck. While flying around the Ocean,we got to see happy sharks, doing their shark thing, blowfish, and sea turtles, beautiful coral, oh and a few snook as well… and a lobster the size of a VW Bug!! The history lessons of Pompano Beach & South Florida were so appreciated as well!! Again, so much fun! thank you South Florida Divers We will definitely be back in the coming weeks to officially get certified!!! ❤️

Negative experience: This is my first and last time with this dive shop. Here are some of the key concerns I have: SAFTY - they didn’t give a good safty briefing. The main focus of the whole briefing was to make sure divers would finish the diving within 50min so they can move the the next site or going back to the dock early. There was barely any introduction about the dive sites, safety stop, current condition, the basics every other dive shop that I’ve ever been to would address. They also initially wanted to take us to the shallower reef for the first dive and then to the 70 ft max wreck dive on the second dive, because it would be more convenient to them. We had to complain to the operator to have them take us to the deeper site first. This was very unsafe and irresponsible. I’ve had more than 200 dives, none of the operators l’ve been with before would ever make such ridiculous suggestion. If you are a new diver, avoid this company or pay extra to hire an experienced dive master to go with you. UNORGANIZED - once you signed in, you are basically on your own to find the tanks, weights, etc. We have friends paid for Nitrox but ended up getting only regular. We were told on the boat that they combined 2 boats which mixed us with some new divers getting their certification, so we cannot go to the wreck dive we signed up for. The operator also complained if we go to the site that we signed up for, it would delay the time to go back. Then why did you have the site available when we signed up? Why didn’t you tell us before we were trapped on the boat? Overall, it seems that all the crew cares about were their own convenience and getting back to the dock early. They were only nice at the very end when they asked for tips. If I could give 0 star review, I would.

Negative experience: this dive shop always combines classes and dive trips to save money for them and then the crew complains when we asked why and then does not.go.to the reefs you paid to go too. I will not dive with them again

Fantastic experience: I am a novice diver and this was my third diving trip. My last dive was just over two years ago. I live in Tucson, AZ, not exactly a diving Mecca. I called the shop, and they suggested I hire Poala as a guide. This turned out to be a great decision. She was informative, warm, fun, and full of energy. This was the best diving experience I have had in my life. The captain, the dive master, and especially Poala made this trip incredibly fun and memorable. I saw 5 sharks, 3 sea turtles, 2 rays (one was at least 6ft long), and more colorful fish and lobsters than I can count. If that wasn't enough, she made videos and pictures of our trip. I can't wait to go back and maybe further my certifications with Poala in the future.

Some people there’s no pleasing “we had to wait for a bridge” “ I didn’t have the proper equipment and couldn’t get down” “ Paulas mean and didn’t let me dive stoned” Dont pay attention to any of that this is a great operation from Tiffany in the office to Danny, Paula and Geronimo on the boat I had a great time and will definitely be doing more wreck diving with these guys. A+

Danny our guide was amazing knew where to take us, pointed things of interest and when I got tired joined me and my husband on the boat to hang out. Fantastic experience: After diving 6 years mostly alone, it was a great pleasure to dive with South Florida Diving Headquarters for a week. I was getting trained on a Choptima rebreather with John Bentley. The crew, captain, shop, boat... everything was top notch.

Negative experience: Poor experience overall. They were running a technical dive at the same time, dropped us in a heavy surface current in early spring, did not wait for submersion and drove the boat off to another point for the tech divers. I was unable to get down due to wetsuit buoyancy. Was only just able to wave them down while being swept way off the reef and away from the group with the current on the surface. Pompano is close to strong currents and deep waters, won't be risking that again

Fantastic experience: Went on a snorkel trip for my Bach and it was amazing! I am comfortable in the water, but they also attended to people who weren’t. Great boat to go with if all of your party doesn’t dive, they can still snorkel! I was recommended to this company when going down to Florida, and I will continue to do the same to others! Had a great time! We had captain Brad, dive master Matt. Captain Brad was a very knowledgeable captain that made all the briefings fun and informative!

Fantastic experience: The crew and Dive Master Guide Aria were phenomenal! Aria showed us many new tips and techniques for diving in the ocean as well as pointing out lots of hidden aquatic life among the coral reef and shipwreck. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an adventure with an amazing team.

Fantastic experience: Did a Friday dive, Paula was our DM and she was awesome. Logged my fiftieth dive and this is now one of my favorite companies I dipped in with. The boat was not the standard cattle boat (yeah I know it was a Friday). Paula and the cap(tain) were super friendly and knowledgeable. I drive 4 and a half hours from the other coast and I definitely plan to do it again. Great job guys!!!

Fantastic experience: My son and I have been scuba diving for the past three years. It had been a long time since we last dove, so we opted for a calm, 20 - 30 ft dive throughout a calm coral reef. With our wonderful and experienced guide, Paula, we journeyed down into the water and immediately were taken aback by the amazing sites. We saw a variety of unique fish and other sea creatures that Paula recorded with her underwater camera. On two, 50 minute dives, we saw huge lobsters, beautiful fish, colorful reefs, and two gracious sea turtles. Later that day, Paula took the initiative to edit the clips from the camera into captivating still photos and a great montage that captured the highlights of the trip and shared them with us. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend SFDH and Paula to anyone looking for a great scuba dive.

Fantastic experience: South Florida Dive Headquarters was recommended to us by another dive shop in Naples, Florida. They had informed us the Gulf Diving off Naples was poor. We had a 2-hour drive to get to Pompano from the Gulf Coast. The dive conditions worked against us for a few days and SFDH (Mike and Paula) kept us informed with calls/text for updates on weather, so we didn't begin our drive until the dive was a go. Matt (the guide we booked) showed great attention and patience with our newly certified family member and was exactly what she needed to build her confidence. The dive sites were great (wreck and reef) with plentiful marine life. Their facilities are nice, boat was in great shape, captain and mates were friendly and informed.

Fantastic experience: Had a great time even though it was a little rough out. Matt and Brad were very attentive to ALL of the passengers; scuba divers and "bubble watchers". As a mom and wife of newer scuba divers they made me feel at ease and took very good care of everyone!!! Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: The entire team was fantastic and supportive! Ryan our instructor and guide was super patient and passionate about making sure we were safe and having a great time. Tiffany in the shop was fast to answer questions and very fair about the complex situation and time crunch we were on during vacation. Fantastic experience: A big thank you to South Florida Diving Headquarters - Pompano Beach for an outstanding experience. My son's completed their Open Water training in Ohio and we selected SFDH for the open water certification dives. From the moment we walked in the door they team was very welcoming. They have 3 of their own boats right there at the shop and do a variety of dives almost every day. The dive trips were filled with both new and repeat customers which is always a positive sign. The dive master and captains were great, supporting the divers and providing guidance on the sites. I should also note Safety was also continually discussed and monitored. We were paired with instructor Geronimo a few weeks before our visit. He helped coordinate all necessary paperwork in advance and was great with the boys. The shop also uses a pool at the hotel next door to perform review dives before the open water trips. We will definitely return to SFDH for future adventures. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: We came down from Illinois to complete our open water and PADI certification. We had a great experience, the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and made it very easy. Positive experience: Snorkeling trip with SFDHQ on November 8, 2023. Dive Master James & Captain Brad personable & vessel was sea-worthy. Snorkeled 2 Pompano sites & others aboard did some first-time diving. Neither habitat was good on our day, very little to see. Lighthouse Ledge might be more exciting, colorful & safe snorkeling. Talk to Mike if you want to book a trip. Try "Discover Diving" if you dont have 3 days to invest. A short pool session & they will allow you to dive "once" on that same day. You will not earn Scuba Certification but you can try ocean diving. Snorklers, ask for a floatation vest or floatation device if the water appears to be too rough! Bottled water onboard. No alcohol. Cool shirts for sale at the HQ shop, a great souvenir.

Fantastic experience: A friend and I completed our Advanced Open Water and Enriched Air certification in late September. Our instructor, Danny and the rest of the staff were great. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: SFDH is absolutely amazing. I started with a "walk in" 2 tank recreational dive and had such an excellent experience I immediately took the advanced open water with enriched air training and certification. Divemasters Paula and Danny are professional, full of knowledge, and energy!! My instructor, Skyler, is a rock star! Patient, knowledgeable, safe, and able to teach specific to the student. Hands down, a 5 star dive charter and training facility!!!!

Major Kudos will be back next summer & bring my daughter.

Fantastic experience: We had a great dive on Saturday. Professional crew both on the boat and in the shop. (The shop has the coolest tshirts!) Scheduled for another dive Sunday but I wasn’t feeling well and canceled. Some shops give you a hard time about last minute cancelation (No I’m not a chronic canceler). I appreciated that SFDH didn’t and understood that sometimes things happen. We will definitely be returning! Thank you SFDH!

Fantastic experience: South Florida Diving Headquarters is hands down the best snorkle trip I've ever been on (even better than my, now ex, favorite snorkle trip in Hawaii). The crew was outstanding, Paula is one of the best dive instructors I've ever met. So kind, so full of life, and accommodated our group with ease. The shipwreck and reef are stunning to view; the fish rushing against your feet. It was sincerely an awesome experience. I would recommend South Florida Diving Headquarters to ANYONE. Even if you're down in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, it's worth the trip.

Fantastic experience: Just dove 2 days with these guys through Mac’s Scuba out of Clearwater on May 20th & 21st. We did 3 dives the first day, the Lady Luck, a drift and then the Okinawa. Day 2 we hit the Captain Dan wreck and a drift on the Pompano Trench. Top notch crew, Captain Dave and Stephanie was one of the best dive masters I have dove with. Very thorough briefing and conditions report. I highly recommend them and definitely plan on a repeat trip with them.

Fantastic experience: Had a fantastic time. Our group booked 5 dives between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. I recommend arriving early to unload your gear and find parking. The dives were great. This crew was friendly, helpful, supportive and informative, while providing a great experience. I would definitely dive with them again.

Fantastic experience: 5 dives in two days with the crews of South FL Diving HQ. From the front desk to the boat crews they were a pleasure to dive with. DM Steph made the trips fun and safe for all in our group. We will be back!

Fantastic experience: Me and my wife did the afternoon snorkeling (with divers aboard) starting with the SS Copenhagen and moving to the Nursery. Fantastic time! Steph and Brad were awesome! Absolutely will do again when we make it back to Pompano!

Fantastic experience: Booked a session with these guys at random, liked them so much I squeezed another trip in before I left Florida. Knowledgeable and very friendly staff, great dive sites, nice boats and a good location. Rental equipment is of good quality; doesn't feel like the usual bottom shelf stuff. Even the booking website is well designed and easy to use. Highly recommend if in the area and looking for scuba boat trips, especially for wrecks.

Fantastic experience: I was able to get my 4 open water certification dives completed this week, and would highly recommend the Pompano Dive Center! My instructor Jeremy was excellent!! Very informative, patience, and extremely knowledgeable! My 2nd day had rougher seas than I was used too, but the crew was kind and encouraging and I was able to complete all skills. I look forward to many future dives!! 5 stars!!

Fantastic experience: Outstanding staff. Recommended for snorkeling and diving. Family friendly. Capt. Brad and Paula were friendly and courteous. We are a family of 4. Kids are newly minted OW divers. They took special care to manage expectation. Mike supplied quality gear and masterfully managed weather-related schedule shifts. This is our second experience in as many years. They are highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I took my original open water certification dives with SFDH nearly 20 years ago and again this past weekend with my daughter for her first. The crew has changed however the professionalism and top not experience of SFDH has not. Jason and Kenna did everything possible to turn rough seas and my own equipment failures into a safe and successful dive. For my daughter, getting her first open water experience with her dive instructor, it was safe and well organized. The crew at SFDH and that of the Black Pearl Aarrrrrr awesome matties

Fantastic experience: SFDH took us through the PADI Open Water certification process. Just an amazing group of people there. Our instructor was Danny - THE BEST! - this guy really knows his stuff and is off the charts working with people! He made the process very simple and non stressful. Worked with me, my son, my daughter and her fiancé for two days of training dives in the Atlantic - crystal clear (good timing). From the crew in the store (Tiffany) to the crew on the boat (Brad and Sky), just outstanding. Anytime I'm in South Florida, I plan to dive with them. Would recommend them 100% - time and money well spent, don't have to worry about anything with them!

Fantastic experience: Great day snorkeling today on The Black Pearl! We joined a group of divers and enjoyed every detail of the day! Awesome crew especially Kenna and Brad!! We felt so safe and taken care of. Awesome ride down the intercoastal with fun music playing. Not a far ride to the reefs to snorkel with the fish and great views of the ocean bottom as well as watching the divers dive. So cool . I will be back next year with my grandchildren for sure! Only 65.00 bucks a head for 4 hours of total fun!

Fantastic experience: Super nice and professional. Emphasis on safe and fun diving. Great diversity in recreational diving. 30’ drift on reefs to 125’ semi intact wreck and everything in between. Definitely a return trip in my future.

Fantastic experience: Wow, what a great dive boat, so much fun! Went with my friend tally, We worked these guys, scooters, guns, gear etc and these guys were awesome! It was clear instructions and really easy to be onboard, everyone is catered for, groups etc, really great charter. I felt welcomed and my business was appreciated. Only disappointment was no sodas.

Negative experience: My son and I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We decided to take a trip to Fort Lauderdale to do a night dive with South Florida Diving Headquarters in December 2022. When I made the reservation, I was told that with only my son and myself diving, they would be unable to guarantee are dive unless we signed up for renting all our gear through them as well as hiring a personal dive instructor through their organization. They told us that as long as we spent $500 with their organization, they could guarantee a boat for us and with us flying Allegiant Air and staying overnight, they realized we needed a solid reservation (outside of weather risks). We fly down, drove from the airport the 45 minute drive to where they are located. Upon our arrival they told us that they had decided to cancel our dive and forgot to tell us. When I inquired as to why they decided to cancel our dive after confirming it the week before we left and they knew we were travel a long distance, they claimed they never told us there was a $500 minimum. They said the minimum was $700! I would have never traveled to a night dive for that amount however, since we were there we asked them to consider lowering the price some since they decided to cancel last minute and also they forgot to even let us know. The owner refused to budge. They clearly have no integrity as a dive shop. Use them at your own risk!!

Fantastic experience: Went on two days of diving and can believe how great it was. Boat left the dock at 0830, we arrived at 0720 to a happy crew who was very willing to help us load all our gear onto the boat. Day one Captain Jason put us right on the reef and Divemaster James gave us a brief with good tips on where to go for the best underwater sights. We had a similar morning for day two when Captain Ben and Divemaster Christen helped us to have a smooth morning heading out to the reef. We saw plenty of wildlife including a few sharks. This was also their “Dive With Santa” day and we took underwater pictures with Santa that they emailed us later. Very clean boats, easy parking spots for loading and unloading, friendly and helpful staff. 10/10 will dive again.

Fantastic experience: Today was my 3rd discovery dive and the team here has inspired me to get certified! Found this spot online and figured I’d check it out and I’m beyond impressed with the safety and professionalism. I learned things here that I didn’t learn with the other 2 companies I’ve dove with in the past. James, Stephanie, and Brad were the bomb! Very funny group.

Negative experience: Went out on two two tank dives. The first was excellent - the dive crew was safe, prompt, and took us to some great locations and we enjoyed our dive! The second dive however was a mess. The group I went out with was mostly speciality divers. Tec, rebreathers and spearfishermen. The two divers who were also diving rec cut their first dive short to celebrate on the second dive - which left me to go down on a wreck solo. At my safety stop, the dive crew detached the line from the wreck and the boat unbeknownst to be which shot me up to the surface 1:30 into my SS. At the surface, the captain and crew were laughing (apparently they were messing around?) Between the crew flirting with each other and the clear lack of safety (would any good DM let a solo diver go down to 130ft without any other diver in the water? don’t think so) Terrible experience on the Lady Luck (~130ft wreck) which is NIGHT AND DAY difference with the first dive with this same outfit but different crew on a ~60ft wreck&drift.

Fantastic experience: Had a group of 5 call the morning of for a night dive and they were AMAZING in arranging it and making us feel welcome. From the minute we arrived our guide Moose and Capt Nick took care of everything. We felt like we were in great hands and they had us laughing the entire time. Would highly recommend and I can’t wait to get back down here for some more diving with them.

Fantastic experience: I had a fantastic time with SFDH! I took there wreck diving specialty course with Scuba Steph and had a fabulous time she was able to introduce me to everyone on the boat and taught me some great skills for wreck diving! Highly recommended

Fantastic experience: I recently moved to Florida and spent 4 days with South Florida Diving Headquarters - Pompano Beach. It’s a professionally run and safe operation, good captains, good crew, nice life zone on the reef dives, and the artificial wrecks we dove were also interesting. Special thanks to captains Jason and Brad, along with a great crew; Martin, Evan, Jeremy, Steph, McKenna, and James. I dove off the Black Pearl and Goliath. Although the Black Pearl is a large boat, Brad did a remarkable job placing all the divers based on various experience levels, and gathering us all up safely. I didn't feel cramped. The Goliath is a smaller boat, and Jason had her under control even when we had some chop and wind. The Pompano/Jupiter area is a good dive destination and I recommend you give this area a visit. I'll recommend South Florida Diving Headquarters to anyone who dives.

Fantastic experience: If you’re an aspiring technical diver or have already achieved that level of scuba diving than South Florida Diving Headquarters should be part of your journey. Their advanced trips are a perfect place to glean more knowledge from other divers and diving professionals about anything from mixed gasses, gear configuration or even closed circuit rebreathers. There is sure to be at least one if not several CCR divers on their frequent Lady Luck, Rodeo 25, Captain Dan or RSB-1 trips if ‘tech’ is a path you’re considering. Also, for the new or accomplished technical diver the SFDHQ team of captains and dive masters are THE best in south Florida as is very evident on their tech trips. They will enthusiastically help with donning and doffing of gear as needed and are masters of dropping you on the multiple different depth ranges of wrecks that are available to explore within minutes of the inlet. SFDHQ is unmatched when it comes to what any level of diver needs to safely have multiple trips available for your enjoyment every day of the week.

Fantastic experience: I dove with SFDH Jan 1st, 2023, and what a great way to start the new year within Captain Brad and First Officer DM Matt. Safety is priority #1 with them. Boat fully equipped, inspected, prepped and ready to go on time. The water was calm they did an excellent briefing and got us out on the wreck of Captain Dan. They double checked everyone before letting us in, tied the boat and played great music. The best part about them, is they were fun and full of great spirits!!! Jeff the owner I have been going with since 2011, and continue to go out with them and sending him great references from Canada. There is as good, but so far I have not found better. I have been diving with South Florida Diving Headquarters everytime I visit Florida since 2011. I loved the operation when they were at their old location near the inlet, but the boat ride to the inlet is enjoyable and provides ideal time for briefings. I always felt safe with them, and when I had equipment problems, they had backup equipment on board, so I never lost a dive. Great group, and Jeff runs a terrific operation.
