Negative experience: I give it two stars because it is listed as a 'two star' hotel, not to throw shade. Many people staying here are from PATH right down the street. From what I can tell it's equally as nice as the PATH on Madison and an upgrade in surroundings. I know some good people here. If you're looking for a quality 2 star with a great view of the Hollywood sign, if you can get one of those rooms, this is your place!! Oh, and just so you know, VERY. STEEP. Positive experience: My daughter works here at this place. Just picked her up from work.
Positive experience: Quiet and peaceful. The pool is closed and there is no laundry room for the guests. Clean linen if requested. Polite and friendly staff. The suite I was in had lots of space and separated the living and sleeping areas with a door.
Positive experience: It IS possible to rent a room here currently, just ask at the front desk.
Negative experience: I can't even give Silver Lake LA hotel 1 star! Nasty, dirty and pretty much horrible! No AC in my 1st room, slimy floor, elevator is questionable @ best and be prepared for very sad number of homeless people who live there! All I can say is if you go, arrive early so you have time to go find another hotel. Which is what I did.
Negative experience: The staff is terrific, friendly and helpful. The hotel is not what we expected from the 3 star rating. The location is under a freeway. It is long term residence for the barely housed. Support services for a high need population are available in the parking lot. It serves more as a shelter than a holiday hotel. We needed to call security on more than one occasion as there were ongoing, escalating hostile encounters in the walkway outside our door. We felt unsafe as we were separated by a window of glass from the conflict. Many of the residents showed apparent evidence of drug use. It did not feel safe to walk in the community around the hotel. Staff was helpful in making a refund happen so we could relocate.
Positive experience: It's nice and quiet most the time. Rooms is very nice, 8 guards on patrol at all times. Night and Day, witch makes everyone on adge, as for the maid well, she isn't too bright. I like it for the most part. Great views all around the building. but it's a bit of a walk to get anywhere,

Negative experience: This hotel is mast and full of crack heads. Customer services HORRIBLE....We had to wait 3 hours before anyone showed up to front desk.... We had to call LAPD to get a refund. We booked online thinking okay close to everything. Okay reviews. .PLEASE DON'T STAY HERE ITS HORRIBLE
Negative experience: This hotel USE TO BE good, we are currently in it now and it is horrible. The outside coming in, people fixing bikes in the parking lot, elevator is painted, bathroom floor tiles appear like they are sinking in and eroded. Night stand drawer is dirty, bathroom door is broken, we won’t be returning here again.
Fantastic experience: Currently staying here, no complaints on the whole stay, amenities, cleanliness, rooms, service. I've stayed at hotels for much more $ and I'm surprised at how satisfactory everything's been here for a much lower price.

Negative experience: worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. - first room had black mold in the fridge and heater didn’t work, got a second room - hot water takes 10 minutes to warm up for some reason - my bathroom floor is rotting away and in some parts I’m scared to put my whole weight SAFETY CONCERN - wallpapers peeling, random things broken. - broken cars and homeless peeing in the parking lot 0/10 DON’T GO HERE
Fantastic experience: Friendly stafff clean room and free parking !!! I stayed in room 514 with a view ! I love it here. The location is amazing and it's super quiet at night.
Negative experience: Worst "hotel" I ever stayed at. Pictures are a total scam. Stay away at all costs. Any motel would be cleaner and better service than here. Front desk guy was incredibly rude. I couldn't believe he would treat any customer like that.
Negative experience: Absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Could have found a Super 8 for cheaper and cleaner than this place. The bathroom was covered in mold, the mattress was as stiff as a plywood box, and the room smelled dirty. All these reviews are 100% correct. Maybe they have some secret stage room they used to take those pictures, maybe they stole them from a different hotel or maybe they were actually decent a couple decades ago I don’t know. All I can tell is after reading these reviews I was actually glad they didn’t come in to make the bed or replenish the towels because there’s no telling what they would’ve leafed through to find in our luggage. If you value your safety and any sense of clean environment please avoid at all cost!
Negative experience: The whole hotel smells bad, the room smells bad, there are parts inside the room that are falling apart it's nothing like the photo as if it were new and clean. And the worst thing is they don't return the hotel deposit, I'm calling the hotel and they haven't answered for days, they haven't returned my deposit until now. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone!

Negative experience: My experience here was awful. We were absolutely horrified when we arrived! Rooms smell dusty. Very old and not maintained or loved. How come the sink was not draining? And the fan in the bathroom was not working? The floor is very dirty, it looks like they didn't even clean the floor.... This is definitely the worst hotel that I ever stayed in my life. If I could give ZERO stars or even a negative score I would...unfortunately this doesn't give the option to do so.
Negative experience: I would say this is the worst hotel I ever stayed! Everything is so dirty! I have booked for 3 nights, but never seen the room has been cleaned(even the trash can). The quality is worse than any motel, they don't even provide a hair dryer!!!

Negative experience: It’s okay. I first order the Spa Suite. When I got there, my tub was dirty and had a spider in it. My shower curtains looked like throw up was on it and I just didn’t want to stay there so I informed the front desk. They moved me to another room, amazing. But it was obvious this room was smaller and not the King Suite with a Spa that I originally paid for. They charged me for the room I originally booked and didn’t even stay in because it wasn’t ready, so I paid for the smaller downgrade even though I know the price is different compared to the the room originally picked and I feel that is unfair because it isn’t my fault that my room wasn’t ready for me. All and all it’s quiet and the rooms at big but it’s not all that clean here, it clean upon first walking in but once you really start getting settled in. You can see how dirty it really is, I would stay here again IF I wanted to something cheaper or if anything is short notice because like I said, the rooms are spacious and it was peaceful here.
Negative experience: If I could give this place a 0 I would. At first I wasn’t impressed but we were going to give a shot. It was relatively clean and convenient to where we needed to be. They had construction workers and employees coming and going on the roof. They claimed work up there started the day we left but we clearly saw construction workers on the roof the day before. On our last night there our room got broken in to from the window (access to the roof) and we had some expensive valuables stolen. The manger was less than helpful and wouldn’t do anything to help. Not even give us any sort of compensation or money back and kept claiming nothing like this has ever happened. I do not recommend this place. Prices might seem right but it’s not worth it.
Negative experience: This place used to be nice years ago. I can't believe how it looks now. It was bad right for us to lose paying for the night and booking a new hotel right away. The bugs that were all around were just ridiculous. The area around was also not the best looking area. Probably not thier fault but a huge homeless problem. We had booked a few rooms for a trip and paid way more for last minute booking at a best Western. I wish them the best of luck but I wouldn't go back.
Fantastic experience: Nice Landscaping, clean Landscaping, the whole establishment is very well cleaned and kept up to par. Staff is nice not rude or disrespectful whatsoever decently priced quiet and peaceful definitely would recommend to family and friends
Negative experience: very poor, I am super disappointed. I didn’t even stay the night, that’s how bad it disgusted me. I paid for nothing. My room was not worth what I paid for. The girl in the front was rude for no reason, which I understand people have bad days, but doesn’t mean you can take it out on others. Negative experience: Shower broken, and they said handle coming off is a common problem. Lamps broken, no light bulbs. Headboard had stains. Hole in ceiling stuffed with paper. Water stains on walls. Bead squeezed when you sat on it and you can hear the spring poking. When complained about the room I was told it is the customers who do this. Pool empty and filled with dirty puddle. No breakfast and they do not tell you that. Asked for a towel never got it. Bullet in driveway. I think people my live at this hotel. They were sitting next to lobby smoking which drifted up to the room. Wish someone had given an honest review I never would have stayed there.

Positive experience: Our experience here has been good for the most part... positives about this hotel are: That their suite rooms are pretty affordable in comparison to other hotel rates given the size (seperate room plus kitchen) other attracting factors: the fact that they price match is pretty cool. Rooms are clean.they typically dont charge or complain about any additionl guests. There is a fold out sofa bed in the living room area for a third person. As for Any or a few complaints... only one tv in both the suite rooms we stayed in recently as apposed to our first stay. Parking can get limited during peak days(weekends esp.) Only a few under cover parking spots. The breakfast lounge is still closed as well as the pool area (the pool was empty when we checked last) no hot tub either. Lastly No laundry facilities.
Negative experience: First off if I could NOT rate this place I wouldn't even give them one star. Doesn’t deserve that. I am very disappointed in the advertising of this hotel. Super dirty and disgusting. As soon as we walked into the room before we could put our things down I saw bugs EVERYWHERE! On the beds, walls and ceilings. My kids were terrified of the environment in general. This place should be shut down.
Negative experience: Horrible. Dirty. Loud. Stayed 3 nights due to it being paid already. If we'd had our child with us, I definitely would not have stayed. It is absolutely not family friendly. I had the feeling some people lived there permanently and others rented by the hour. Strong marijuana smells. Absolutely everything was dirty in the room. People walking and yelling down the main halls till early morning. Not the nicest surroundings. I gave 1 star because the front desk people were nice enough and parking was ok.

Positive experience: For the price it was acceptable. However the air-conditioning unit smelled like mildew and I called for them to check it and they never did. The key cards kept malfunctioning and I had to go downstairs and request more towels and toilet paper. It was a good place to have a private stay in the heart of the city, however if you are sensitive to smells I would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: I was hesitant when I seen this place In LA on staying there because of what I read But I took a chance and stayed 2 Nights and was so glad that I took the chance !! I could not have asked for a better place to stay. The room was clean and did have a great bed and everything worked like it was suppose to . The Staff was very friendly from the moment I arrived to the time I checked out. It is not a five star hotel but it is one of the best deals in LA. I would definitely stay again.

Negative experience: This hotel was an absolutely horrible experience... the man at the front desk threatened me as I walked in with my friend who had a room booked here. Rather than politely asking us or letting us know rather that you need to show your ID to have a guest come by, he decided to just instigate an actual fight with me by threatening me from behind the counter. I was appalled and just decided to leave with my friend. We didn't even bother asking for our money back. This man FOLLOWED us out to our car and continued to threaten us, even yelling racial slurs towards us ( we are both white and I believe he is middle eastern). I was appalled.. do not ever stay at this God forsaken rathole!
Negative experience: The room smelled so, so bad. The bathroom smelled like mold, probably coming of the dirty shower curtain. The room was filthy all sorts of dirt and apparently cereal on the floor. The light didn't work, so moved the bed to find that the cord was dangling from a broken socket, a fire hazard right next to the bed. The hair dryer was also a fire hazard and did not work. The photos are no way the same hotel. This place was gross. Don't fall for what I did.
Negative experience: COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE as soon I a come in the room we saw 2 on the floors and they where all over the curtains this hotel smells nasty dirty and disgusting the rooms are super dirty we found blood on the sheets and the rug was full of crumbs never coming back to this hotel

Negative experience: We paid for 5 days at this hotel through hotel.com and it was worse experience I ever had in my life. Dirty as nothing on earth all type of insects and I did not wait to see rats because I stayed for 10 minutes literally 10 minutes was my time in the bedroom and if I would be 15 minutes for sure I would see rats too and I had to leave they did not refund my money they literally stole the money. I am also reporting this place with the city, but I hope I can help someone avoiding to be in hell because this is this place from hell.
Negative experience: If I could not rate this I would. I went to set my stuff down on the table, and I always check the beds before I get comfortable. I pulled the sheets back and there were dead bed bugs in our bed. I requested my money back and they refused to refund me. I took photos and they had the nerve to lie about this and state “this is not from our property” instead of refunding me and ensuring me that they will handle this they lied do not come here.
Dear Melissa, we always try our best to accommodate our guests. You mistakenly made your reservation for a different date yet we honored your reservation out of courtesy and did not charge for the difference in price. When you came to the front desk with your complaint, we offered to check the room to try to verify what it was you saw but you declined. We also offered to change your room but you declined. After you left, we thoroughly checked the bed and we did not find any bed bugs. The photo you provided to the OTA was not of a bed bug. Just as we showed you courtesy by not charging you the difference in rate for your reservation being on the wrong date, IF we found a bed bug we would have 100% given you your money back. If we had been given the chance to check the room with you we would have cleared the mater then and there.
Negative experience: Where do I start? Shower curtains were stain with blood. Furniture was old and dirty. Fridge smell and did not even work. Sink was nasty and mirror sink was peeling. Bed was uncomfortable and look dirty. The room smell horrible, like wet dog and feces. The staff was always on the look out for you. Felt like a guilty person just walking in and out trying to get my stuff. Towels were also dirty and stain with blood. Elevator only fits 4 people, very small, smelly, and dirty. One of the button on elevator was broken and dirty. Overall a nasty hotel.

Positive experience: The price was very reasonable. Ive had the misfortune of staying at beat down hotels at higher cost in this vecinity. The lobby attendants are very aware and observant. That would be a pro for someone like me (security and such), but it can also be a con for peops who are up to no good. The rokm was relatively big, clean, and well equipped. Oh and did i mention the bed doesnt make hardly any noise. Parking is free for first car $10 extra foe any additional cars. I paid because i used tonlive around here and know that these streets can be dangerous.
Positive experience: I'm Italian and I went there 2 years ago, during summertime, and I gotta say that was a great hotel. the location is perfect, you can go out have an Uber and you are close to Hollywood, so 5 stars for the location. reception was good. the only issue were the fornitures , old.

I was not about to take down my stuff and put my two little kids at risk. When I asked for money back they said only the second night but that they had to charge first night had not yet been done. EMAILED MANAGER NO RESPONSE. I AM GOING TO BETTER Biz bureau. I am also disputing charge w card.

Negative experience: Very poor and awful room and entire property. Bugs, smelly and dirty carpet and curtains plus the location around the hotel is very bad. You do not want to walk around it. I feel bad for the employees. They should close it and remodel it but will need to engage with the city to clean the homeless area too.

Positive experience: The walls are WAY too thin. All I here is significant banging like the upstairs neighbours are dropping bowling balls. You can here every footstep and when they take a shower or run water. It's not just one episode because people have moved in 3-4 different times while we have been here. We can't sleep at all unless the upstairs neighbours go out or sit down for 5 minutes ! Other then that it's a fine hotel .. too pricey though. The people are nice.

Fantastic experience: I give this Hotel 5 stars today out of respect to the GM that this Hotel used to have. She was the only Manager I've encountered that was very blunt and to the point but always kept it Professional hands down! Wish there were more people like her.

Fantastic experience: This hotel is highly underrated. Not many frills, but it's conveniently located, clean and quiet. The rooms are large and clean, prices reasonable, the pool is maintained and the front desk staff very accommodating. The WiFi is almost useless.

Fantastic experience: I couldn't be happier with my experience while my extended stay in this hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating to meeting my growing needs. My circumstances that brought me to California was due to a family medical emergency which presented additional needs to for my son and traveling alone. I absolutely did not want for anything! With compassion all levels of employees, to include the owner, offered a stress free environment. My room was clean, breakfast offered variety and 24 hour tea and coffee available. If something I needed wasn't provided by them they recommended places for me to go to. I was able to walk to nearby restaurants (with amazing food with owers having roots in the community), laundry and stores. I've already booked my next trip for a few weeks from now and will be a frequent guest here.

Negative experience: Everything is old. The room had a cup of tea from another guest. The breakfast was the worst I've ever seen. No saccharine, no butter, no eggs, a single orange and the only hot thing was a waffle maker and a toaster. Service was kind. By the way, there was no wifi available. The location is convenient, close to everywhere. Parking included. No thermostat in the room, but the heater worked perfectly to heat the room in a few minutes. I give 1 star since the price was too high for the product. Maybe $55 is a fair price, but not $110. Any motel 6 or Super 8 is better.

Negative experience: DO NOT COME HERE! I was going to stay here for a night (I was obviously tired and just wanted to get a room right away) not even 3 minutes passed when I called Expedia and said I could wanted to cancel and get a refund. Obviously, they have no control over Hotel policy. BUT THREE minutes!!! I had called before so there were rooms available, THEREFORE, there was no trouble with my canceled reservation because there was availability! WITHIN A 3 MINUTE PERIOD people!!! They don't care about hospitality nor customer service. Policies can be bended if you actually CARE ABOUT YOUR CLIENTS!! It's happened to me before, but TONY obviously has no idea about customer service or hospitality! The reason I didn't stay here were because of the reviews, that the power would go out, that they had a BUG PROBLEM (gross) people even posted pictures of the bites and rashes! I told my friend I was staying there too, and automatically told me not too, because people there are rude and have poor hygeine with cleaning bath tubs. So disappointed!

Negative experience: THIS IS ONE OF THE WORSE HOTELS I HAVE EVER STAYED AT STAINS EVERYWHERE! SO I COULDNT WATCH TV EITHER THE JACUZZI JETS ARE SO HARD THAT THE JETS CAUSED WATER TO SPRAY SO HARD OUTSIDE THE JACUZZI MAKING A MASSIVE WATER PROBLEM. TOOK 2 HRS TO FILL UP THE JACUZZI AND BY THE TIME I DID IT WAS COLD AGAIN..... SO I SAID ......FORGET IT ALL. OH BREAKFAST...... WAFFELS NO BUTTER NO SYRUP. TOAST NO BUTTER .CEREAL NO MILK. I LEFT AT 7AM SHARP I COULD NOT HANDLE ANYMORE ANYTHING FROM THIS HOTEL. I PAID 160 FOR A HORRIBLE STAY. I NEVER SLEPT. I AM SO SO DISAPPOINTED.

Negative experience: I WISH I could leave a 0/5 star review. I'm in the property industry and wouldn't expect this in a major city ANYWHERE. I've never felt this way though there is a first time for everything. When we hold people accountable to their wrong doings, they should do better next time. I'm on month 5 of waiting for my refund. Never stay here, save yourself from the 1st world agony. I was in and out of LA for a few months looking for a property to purchase in Fall of 2018. My last stay in LA was in August 2018. The Air bnb I was renting for the past 3 months had no available reservations so I made a last minute booking through EXPEDIA with Hotel Silverlake. Definitely the worst decision of 2018. Never stay here. I will say this countless of times. The hotel itself is in decent condition from the exterior. The bedding left me itchy. The staff are rude and condescending. Making comments under their breath. The power went out at the hotel and I had to find another since it was mid summer and really hot. I had 3 meetings the next day and needed a good nights sleep. The man handling the front desk was the only person who treated everyone (what I witnessed) with patience and respect. He was about 200 lbs with dark hair. I want to thank him. He promised me a full refund for the inconvenience. If only that followed suit in to the next day. The only hotel that was available was WAY more expensive. I had to do it, no other options. NOW, back to HTSL. . . Rashmi told Expedia to have me come in for a cash refund.then she changed the refund to only one day She did this twice. I was fine with 1 day refund until November. Acting like she was being cordial and providing a refund. The first time I got their for a refund was in Sept of 2018. Rashmi screamed at me saying why am I trying to rip her hotel off. She's hard working. I said "I'm not trying to rip anyone off, I just want a refund since the power went out" and wasn't scheduled to come back on until 08/10/2018. that's when she screamed at me to get off of her property before she calls the police. The power outage was planned from the city and the Hotel manager , Rashmi, received notice 3 months prior that the power was going to be out. She stayed open knowing this just to make revenue. Just because I'm a athletic black man who looks intimidating, doesn't give you the right to call the cops on me. I'm a respectable young man who's educated and picks his battles WISELY. She chose the wrong person to try and belittle over a 2 night hotel stay. I have yet to receive a refund for the horrible stay. I wish Rashmi the best in the new year.

Positive experience: They could stand to update some carpet, some of the lights in my room didn't work, but they had directv and the room was clean. The service was friendly, and they do have a decent breakfast setup in the morning. They could really use better internet. It seemed like the wifi reception was OK, but the speed on the internet was almost unusable.

Positive experience: Location is great, price is good. Room is a bit dated and the whole room smelt of dust. TV needed to be cleaned. Toilet was clean, tub was ok. Window treatments are not private at all, you can totally see inside if the light is on.

Positive experience: I was in need of a place to stay in that area of Los Angeles, and had an hour to find one. This place popped up for a great price, and wow, it was worth it. It is a little hard to find (being up on a hill) and it looks a little run-down from the outside (these two points dock a star), but the staff was friendly, the room was spacious with good AC and all the amenities of a small efficiency, and it was quiet with good darkening curtains. I will happily stay here again, and that is something considering I'm used to staying at much higher priced hotels. A real bargain and excellent value.

Positive experience: The hotel is actually called Hotel 250 with smaller lettering beneath saying Hotel Silver Lake, definitely easy to miss. Theres no sign on the actual building either and it was nearly impossible to find via waze, google maps, and all of our uber drivers. Navigate to Smilax st , that'll get you to it. It has a tight, small parking lot. Only one car permit per room. Overall the building looks outdated. Narrow walkways/hallways. The rooms were ok. Certainly dated but good enough for an overnight stay. Some mold in the shower. Dont expect a hot shower either. We returned to a room that was mostly done with housekeeping except no towels. They were still being laundered so you will get fresh clean towels. The lamps/lighting fixtures still had the plastic "remove before use" film on...but had mimi fridge and microwave which is a plus. Front desk was nice; quick and to the point. Breakfast was waffle iron, juice, coffee, cereal, toast. It is near to quite a lot of tourist spots so that was nice as well.

Negative experience: I usually stay here and rarely have an issue, but the last time I stood here it was not such a good experience. The room was filthy and not clean at all. Covid-19 is real and for the towels to be dirty, lights not working properly, carpet was not Vacuumed, and Toilet didn’t even flush. The toilet was dirty. I was supposed to stay for two days. I was so disappointed that I left as early as I could. I tried to get a full refund and the refused. I asked to speak with a manager and they seem to not have one. Bottom line they were not clean period! And the safety lock was broken too. So much for safety....... Accommodation or not.... filthy means refund me my money. Thanks! Yes I do have video and pictures.

Negative experience: This was one step up from camping. Had to have the lock fixed that was broken when we got there. Water was hot for showers and bedding was clean. Breakfast was a guess at any given time. The woman stocking it didn’t care if there was anything that ran out. Nothing fresh like fruit. You can just make out the Hollywood sign in the distance. Pool was closed indefinitely. Don’t expect to ever use it.

Negative experience: I don't recommend this hotel to anyone, the pictures posted online about this hotel doesn't compare to what it actually looks like in person, they have a "strict" non-refundable cancellation policy. But it makes sense why, the rooms are ugly and sketchy. I was trying to get a refund and complained several times, the general manager said we were more than happy to leave the hotel but we would not get a refund.The beds are old and uncomfortable you can feel the springs, there also smaller than advertised, the curtains were stained and dirty. There was an old crusty booger on the corner of our window so much for house keeping. Outside of our hotel room there was a big hole, mentioned to front desk once it was first seen. Later that night when we were going into our room, an older lady who was staying next door didnt notice the hole and she fell only thing they did about it was put a cone on top of it. All I see in the reviews when the hotel replies back is that there striving for improvement, some of those replies were months ago. I don't think there striving for anything.
