Negative experience: Very disappointed in my recent experience. We waited almost 4 hours for someone to arrive. We figured we needed a new battery and gave the make a model of the car so they would know what battery to replace it with, only to be told that they were not permitted to change the battery on our make of car. Wish someone would have told us that at the outset. We have been members since 2003 and have the Premier membership. I see I am not the only one leaving bad reviews so not sure I will renew my membership.
Negative experience: I belonged to this branch for over 25+ years, and last year due to them doing something of adjustment in their system and where I have lived almost 30 years I had to belong to the AAA out of York and I did it, renewed from York in August and membership is good till August 2025!!!! Earlier this week I get a notice saying my membership will expire 12/31/2024 if I don’t pay a fee of $50!!! I have tried to call this Harrisburg office but you only get a digital voice that gives you two options, tried both no one answers and you get music till your tired of it!!! I’m sure it’s a computer error but your the ones that said I had to fall under York, I know I’m wasting my breath but take me out of your system!!!! This company is certainly not what it use to be!!! I would have give you a lower rating but it doesn’t exist!!!
Negative experience: My friend called for service in downtown Harrisburg and they never came and never updated her on why they did not come. When she called to complain, they hung up on her. Quite disgusted by this customer service.
Negative experience: Horrible service... Waited for way you long... We called another towing company rather than waiting 3.5 hours ... Enterprise rental cars saved us ...thank goodness. By the time we came back the tow truck guy we called was already there. The true k was towed. And NO help from AAA 3.5 HOURS LATER not to mention traveling with a disabled senior citizen. This is disgraceful.
Negative experience: I’ve been waiting 4 hours for a locksmith. Multiple calls to roadside assistance and dispatch ended up with long hold times and disconnected calls. I can’t get through to anyone. Not sure the membership is worth it.
Negative experience: Wow, that last guy's experience sounds like a living nightmare. Two days, nine hours of waiting and still no battery? If you had to miss work waiting around after they told you someone was on their way, you should send them a bill for lost income, or take them to small claims court. If that's how they treat their members, you're better off getting roadside assistance from your insurance company. Here's a 1-star review out of sympathy!
Negative experience: Called yesterday about a battery replacement. They sent a technician who (though very friendly) did not have a battery because he was told it was only a jump start. He explained things got messed up because AAA was using a new AI-powered system. He called the dispatcher to arrange for someone else to bring the battery. Hours passed with no updates (even though I specifically selected the option to get text updates), so I left my vehicle parked where it was ( which is nowhere near my house) and walked home. Four hours later I get a call from AAA telling me the technician has arrived. I return to my vehicle, only to learn that he also did not bring a battery and he was thoroughly confused because he, too, was dispatched for a jump start. He also mentioned the problem he had been having with the new AI system. He did test my battery and confirmed that I needed a new one. And now here were are one day later, and after a half dozen phone calls (and still not a single text), my vehicle remains parked on some street nowhere near my house, with no battery replacement. If I happen to get a parking ticket or a street sweeper ticket, rest assured, YOU will be paying it, AAA, not me! Terrible experience, and the customer service reps I spoke with were all rude and terrible at their jobs. As a 15 year member, I expect better service. Actually, at this point I'd just be happy to get some sort of service at all! UPDATE: AAA replied to my complaint with a number which put me in touch with a man claiming to be the branch manager of the Central Penn office. After explaining my situation, he promised that he would "escalate the situation" and send someone out to my vehicle immediately, as the situation, according to him, was "unacceptable". I waited by my vehicle for 2 hours. Once again, no one showed, and I received neither a phone call or text. I have now called AAA a total of 9 times and waited a total of 9.5 hours at my vehicle over 2 days and still have not been served. You're absolutely correct, Mr. Manager. This is beyond unacceptable and now it's my turn to escalate the matter, right to the office of the State Attorney General. I paid for my membership and am not getting what I paid for, so I consider this fraud. You had 8 chances to "make it right", and dropped the ball each time!

Negative experience: I signed up for a AAA Credit Card for added benefits with traveling. I phoned their Customer Care phone number and was subjected to offers for the aging. All I wanted to do was alert the credit card that I am traveling. Tried to do this on line with no option. Other credit cards provide an online option to provide travel information. I can not get through on line without accepting an offer I do NOT want. This is unacceptable!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Went to the Central Penn location to do a car title transfer, was greeted with a hello and a smile from the receptionist and had a great experience with Cynthia J who was the member specialist that helped us get the transfer done. She was patient, efficient, and super sweet. Great customer service at this location.

Fantastic experience: What a positive experience. At about 8:45am I realized my battery was dead, got on the phone with AAA, and was on my way to work by 9:30am or so. Carlos the technician was extremely friendly, efficient, and honestly took what normally would ruin a day and turned it around to a positive. Carlos deserves recognition for the way he works and doing it all with a smile in the rain. Very friendly guy and it definitely makes future car issues seem a little less concerning. Thanks Carlos!

Negative experience: was a member for over 15 years until I switched insurance and lost that coverage. So I called to rejoin not knowing I had roadside coverage with my new insurance company. I called to cancel AAA and was told I could get a refund. I didnt hear anything for a month and then called to see what was taking so long for the refund. They told me that the previous agent was wrong and that I would not be getting a refund. Now i'm stuck with AAA for the next 10 months and do not need it. I will never use or refer anyone to AAA. This is awful customer service.
Fantastic experience: We called AAA for a flat tire. Carlos responded quickly. He was friendly, efficient, and so helpful. Our experience the next day (for a jump start) was not nearly as desirable with Daniel. He seemed rushed and uninterested. He actually left without even telling us he was leaving. You need more like Carlos!!

Negative experience: One of the chargers hasn't worked for nearly a year now at this point.
Negative experience: Called at 9:45am for a tow, was signed up for text alerts and given initial ETA of 90 minutes however here I am at 12:45pm still waiting and when I called for an update I was told soon. I understand it’s busy I just wish it could’ve been communicated.
Positive experience: Motorcycle broke down in Gettysburg 6:00 pm on a Tuesday night. Called for a tow. Friendly, professional service on the phone - very little wait time. However, it took 2 1/2 hours for the tow truck to arrive. Drivers were not told they were picking up a motorcycle so they didn’t have all the proper gear but we did get it secured and safely dropped off at shop. Didn’t think it would take that long for a pick up.
Negative experience: I’ve been calling the Harrisburg branch for 3 days straight every few hours and nobody answers the phone. Do they expect everyone to go out of their way and drive into the facility just to ask a question? How ridiculous!

Positive experience: I've never had an issue with AAA before but last might I called and waited for an hour and no one answered. I used the online app and got someone to come out. My only issue with the app is that I wanted the car towed to my house and there was no option for that. I got the car home and got it running again.
Negative experience: Have been family member for over 30 years and have used only towing service twice during this time . Attempted to obtain home and auto policy and provided all necessary information but never received a response after several email and phone request. Can only assume there is no interest in providing membership with insurance needs

Negative experience: I’d give zero stars if I could. My father-in-law worked hard for this company for 18 years. He passed nearly a month ago and they STILL haven’t given us any of the information we need to get his life insurance and any death benefits to which my mother-in-law and wife are entitled. MIL called the office several times a day for 2 weeks to speak to HR and try to get what we need and no one has answered their phones. For TWO WEEKS. Hands down the worst run company I have EVER had business with and they should be ASHAMED of themselves for making a grieving widow jump through hoops instead of just answering their phones.
Negative experience: I was refused a pick up because my 2003 dodge ram had a EZ Dump on it and they said it would be to heavy. I asked them to at least look at the weight overall knowing the ezdump only added 631 pounds and the Old Dodge rams were much smaller in 2003. He refused to wven entertain saying it would be to heavy , no modifications allowed. What the..?. The weight of the truck and EZ dump together weighs a total of 6,137 pounds. A new 2024 ram truck weighs 6320 lbs without a ezdump. But I was refused a pick up. I will cancel my service withAAA why should I bother paying year after year if this service is worthless. Shame on you! Pathetic service and a total waste of having the insurance.

Negative experience: I have repeatedly written and called to try to stop all the unsolicited junk mail AAA sends. Unfortunately, AAA continues to send junk mail on a weekly basis. I will be cancelling my membership. Update: After requesting yet again to be removed from all mailing lists, I am now receiving even MORE junk mail from AAA. Very unethical to share membership information with other companies.

Negative experience: I have not had trouble with AAA in the past, but I must now assume that was because we rarely have had to use their services and when we did, it was in fair weather. Recently our car died (alternator) while AAA had not yet lifted their weather restriction (even though the roads were now in good shape), so we were only able to have our vehicle towed a minimal distance despite our willingness to pay for the additional miles. We understand the need for safety; however, the restriction was soon lifted, and when we needed to have the vehicle towed the remainder of the distance to our home, we were charged an extra $95 re-two fee - in addition to the $225 for the distance. We expected and accepted the charge for the distance, but we should not have been charged the re-tow fee as the re-tow was not due to our error or mistake. If AAA had not imposed a weather restriction, we could have taken care of the problem in a single tow.
Negative experience: Was driving home from work in a snowstorm, lost control the vehicle and ended up stuck in the middle of the road. Car would not budge in any direction. Dispatcher kept telling me to leave the vehicle & come back when conditions improve. I was 3 miles from home in a rural area in the middle of a snowstorm. No Lyft or Uber would pick me up at my location considering road conditions. My family was all snowed in. I literally had no recourse. When I told her that she kept saying very loudly that I was interrupting her. She had a very nasty attitude and told me to “stop talking”. I spent 10 minutes arguing with the dispatcher over whether or not this was an emergency. I was in the middle of the road! Thankfully a state trooper showed up and took the phone from me and told her that it was an emergency and that she needed to send assistance. Moreover, a kind citizen with a tow strap showed up and got me up the hill so I could get my car home. He wouldn’t take any money… unlike AAA, who loves to take your money, and then not provide the service they promise. I will not be renewing my membership
Fantastic experience: Very helpful! Needed to change address that put us into a different AAA Club. Former club was NOT at all helpful although the change should take place on their end - series of forwarding and phone tag until I was disconnected. Central Penn took care of it for me in a single call.
Negative experience: I dont understand why these people are recognized as emergency service. Had member ship an entire year i finally go to use it qnd its worthless. My car is sitting running with the key in it and i have my daughter. Who answers for this? No one. They foward you from one person to the next. I FINALLY get a call back 30 minutes later only to be told i wipp need to wait up to 60 min till they get here. Why pay you people at all???

Negative experience: I went into AAA today regarding a vehicle transfer, the initial representative Denise was amazing and a pleasure to speak with and was very informative. Her manager however a “Becky” was very unhelpful and down right rude. She was aggressive, argumentative, and was longing to escalate the situation into a full argument. When I asked for her manager she stated she was the manager then threatened to call the police and trespass my friend and myself when I asked for her card and the corporate number. I initially began to turn to leave feeling disgusted with the woman, but my pride could let the disrespect stand so I instead grabbed the representative Denise’s card to assist in my complaint to corporate after doing so “Becky” then proceeds to scream “I AM CALLING THE POLICE” while frantically waving a clicker around in the air clicking it. Very unpleasant individual, might cancel my AAA after this. I plan on following up with the corporate Headquarters in Florida. Would not recommend the management of this location.
Negative experience: This is Terrible Service I have them for Two Years and Never Ever Again- I paid for two year - Yearly and third year i decide to not continue anymore and i didn’t took them again And On end of my year five days ago i sae on my account the AAA Pennctr they pull my Money from my account two different Amounts I can’t believe but i Believe how terrible is. Negative experience: If I could give”0” stars, I would. AAA sucks. No veterans discounts at all on anything they do or sell. I bought AAA and I mine as well have thrown my money in the trash. I ran out of gas on the highway near Fort Hunter. They said they were sending a truck with a few gallons. I waited and waited and waited. I got a text that they were on their way and a tracker to track the location of the truck. Then, I got a call from one of their customer service representatives. She said we don’t do diesel and we are not going to send anyone to help. What the hell is the point of AAA if they can’t even help?
Negative experience: I've been a member for 25 YEARS and have purchased multiple batteries over the years. Last battery purchased was approximately 3 weeks ago. I'm 2 hours away from home and guess what? You guessed it my battery is dead and AAA in that area will take approximately 2 hours to arrive. Fortunately thank God that I find someone to give me a jump. After driving 2 hours home I call AAA. Service man comes, tests my battery, and its dead. Yes after driveway on the highway for 2 hours. Serviceman replaces my battery at no charge. I call AAA to see if there is any type of courtesy credit or credit to membership fees for the inconvenience of paying for a defective battery and being stuck out of town. 4 days later a representative returns my call and informs there is nothing they can do for the inconvenience. My suggestion ..keep your Halo or battery jumper in your car EVEN IF you pur have a NEW battery from AAA because you may receive a brand new defective battery and be stuck hours away from at the mercy of finding someone friendly to give you a jump. Yes even for a 25 YEAR member. I made sure to take images of the Replacement. ***UPDATE***Member services helped out for this experience. Thank you***

Negative experience: This is the single most annoying telephone menu ever. It is in a loop so you never get to a person. No one answers the phone either the 800 niumber or local number. It's enough to make me want to cancel.

Linda I understand your frustration with the wait time for your phone call. Our phone system has been upgraded to an AI program. It is programmed to transfer the call based on voice commands such as Membership, travel, insurance, etc. If you are able to leave us a message please know that your call will be answered answered as soon as we can.

Negative experience: Honestly it’s not all crack up to be what people may think. It’s a big complaint but my wife and I have been members for 3 years and 2/28 of this year our member needed to be renewed, so my wife calls in and they treat her as if she was not a member for 3 years and didn’t jus use there services. At this point we are looking for other roadside assistance programs that will at least treat their customers right especially if you been a member for a couple years. Tameicka on the phone from club 195 needs to be retrained as she talks over her customers and doesn’t pay attention to the phone call to properly resolve the issue or concern. At this point we are ready to jus move on to a better roadside assistance.

Fantastic experience: In the last three weeks I have had two battery issues. One in my wife's vehicle and one on my daughters car. All are members. Both service calls were handled efficiently and professional. The first incident, Bill Dunleavy responded and tested and replaced my 4 year old battery. He was so pleasant and thanked me for being a member for over 30 years. What a gentleman! The second incident the responding technician’s name was Joey. He tested my 5 year old battery but did not have an AGM battery with him. He told me he was going back to the shop and get one. He said AAA is there to serve Their members. About an hour and half later he was back, installed a new battery. Both of these gentleman are ambassadors and a credit to AAA.

Negative experience: For the second time this year our family has had to endure the craptastic customer service at AAA Harrisburg. Our car broke down in West Chester PA, AAA dispatches towing service that only will tow our vehicle 30 miles. They claim due to Covid and the weather, 35 and sunny. When I show up at the Progress Avenue office in person in the hope of some assistance I’m told they have no control over the company’s decision not to tow past 30 miles. They will and have however, gladly enrolled our family in the higher tier service agreement for 100 mile towing for the past twenty years. I was told we would have to call the AAA office in West Chester . Been on hold for 45 minutes, hello West Chester??? Thanks Harrisburg AAA for your less than stellar, pass the buck “customer service.” What used to be a shining example of a customer care model now has joined the ranks the care less world we live in .

Fantastic experience: DeAndre Samuels was extremely courteous and professional during his service call on me 11/17/2022 (battery check/replacement). I wasn't in an emergency situation, but AAA needs people like him when drivers find themselves stranded in bad weather. All the best to Mr. Samuels going forward in his AAA career!
Negative experience: Terrible experience. Called for a tow truck before 12 noon - they originally told me between 4-5pm, then 7-8pm, then 9-10pm. The tow truck driver arrived during that last time window, but poor communication throughout. I would have been better off without AAA.
Fantastic experience: Had to have a flat tire changed while I was at work. Driver showed up quickly and was done in no time!
Negative experience: Spoke to someone in member services named “John”. Guy was rude and talking over me right out of the gate (I had barley said a word yet). I asked to speak to a supervisor and he refused. He’s apparently the only member services employee in the building. Had to renew with a different office.

Fantastic experience: AAA has been a lifesaver for me on several occasions! Keys locked in my car, key broke off in ignition and dead battery. They are also great for planning trips, getting forms for DMV. Employees are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Location is convenient and clean.
Negative experience: 3 weeks ago I ordered a tow with AAA. The people I spoke with at this time were very kind and helpful. They are the reason this is not 1 star. The tow truck driver forced the car off the bed breaking 3 motor mounts. We have it on video. A claim was filed. The video was reviewed. The representative agreed that this was the fault of the tow company. I paid the bill to have it fixed. The explanation was that it was reviewed and the claim was denied. When i asked for further detail, they offered no explanation. When I asked for a documentation to explain the reasons they refused and told me a lawyer would have to request it. Overall AAA is a fantastic organization. However this specific region take no accountability and refuse explanation.

Negative experience: So do not use AAA services. I am stranded along 81 near Hazleton they told me with my plus membership I have 100 miles of towing for free. Now it is Easter Sunday at 7pm when I called. They customer service person told me it would not be a problem. I was told they were dispatching a truck to tow car and me home. Which is 89 miles. After 1:20 mins they call me back and tell me they are not able to tow me until tomorrow. . This is the second time in 2 months that they have done this. The other time they told me they could not get a truck to my truck I was able to secure a tow in less than 15 mins. Then when I submitted for reimbursement they informed me they were only going to give me half of what I paid. I paid $170 for the upgraded plus membership to be able to tow my bigger trucks and have peace of mind for my families safety on the road if I was not with them. And I have had nothing but lies and let downs. How can a large National corporationover 100 years not be able to fulfill what they advertised. I was able to make arrangement by making a simple google search & one phone call in less than 15 mins. Needless to say my policy will be canceled. AAA of central penn a joke.
Negative experience: My car broke down this morning so I called Central Penn AAA. I called customer service and talked to John. He was very rude and impatient with me under a stressful situation. He needs some customer service training. On the other hand the tow truck driver was very helpful and pleasant. Thank you to him! This was my first experience using Central Penn AAA. I hope it gets better.
Positive experience: Nice. I was just surprised that as a member for over 25 years, that I had to pay for a notary signature. Only was $2 but didn't need it in the end. (Was covering all my bases prior to going to send in for passport.) I got to thinking, they are making a killing on $2/time. Maybe they should allow one free per year? Just a suggestion.

Fantastic experience: I was here for my very first time. Entered through the Employee's door and was nicely directed on how to get to the main entrance. As I got into the door, I was called by this wonderful femalr employee with a s beautiful smile. In less than a minute, my document was notarized for free.....job document. I got 2 amazing christmas gifts....free notary service and subsequently hired! Thank you Ma'am, thank you AAA!
Fantastic experience: I was very thankful this morning when my car started right up. After having my battery die at the grocery store last evening. De Andre came to the rescue and he was able to install a new battery in no time. I wanted to thank him again and the dispatchers that sent him to help me out. Fantastic experience: Had to go in for a few reasons over the last few months. The ladies are always kind and knowledgeable. They didn't mind when there were up to five of us there at a time. They do sell travel items in this building as well.

Negative experience: I am very disappointed with the customer service with this branch. I've been a member for 4 years and I went today and the front desk refused to attend me because they close at 2pm and they only had an hour and 15 minutes left till closing time. I would understand if I came 10 minutes before closing time but an hour before closing and they refused? I dont think that's how a valued customer should be treated.
Negative experience: For my first four "free" calls for my membership, everything seemed to go fine: the service was prompt and I got replacements for the AAA battery that had a warranty. Once I was through that period, the cracks began to show. At my local auto repair place, I learned that the multiple emergency jumps had damaged the battery terminals. It got worse yesterday. When my car wouldn't start again, I had to pay the affiliated towing service $90 to bring it to the shop. I had to stay at home and call the shop since the towing service currently has a no ride along policy. The shop needed to replace the battery, so I had to call AAA again to send someone over with a replacement. It was then I learned that I would be charged $55 for this service, and that I would have to meet the truck in person to pay it. Not having other transportation, I had to take an Uber to the shop for this. Unless I'm mistaken, the warranty should have covered that service. The man in the tow truck didn't even replace the battery as agreed; he jumped it and said it would be fine. I ended up paying AAA a total of $145, and also payed $10 for the Uber ride. In short, I had to spend a lot of money for a little service. As a customer, I have rarely felt this disrespected.
Negative experience: I've been trying to get hold of someone at this place for days. What business closes at 2 PM?!? There is no way to leave a message, and no one ever answers. Needed to have my totaled car towed from the garage to my home for the salvage pickup- they called to tell me "we don't do that" THREE HOURS AFTER telling me they could do it! Wound up having to scramble to get a tow from someone else. My membership ends at the end of the year, and will NOT be renewed.
Negative experience: Rediculous... Stopped in for a title transfer for a trailer, and they could not assist because they reserve 1 hour per title, and already had three booked for the next three hours. Went elsewhere and the whole process took 10-minutes.
Negative experience: They took my membership even after being with them for 15 years just because I was late in renewing my membership even though there was pendamics which prevented everyone from moving, I was a royal gold member, I regret so much, ONESMUS
Positive experience: In and out in about 5 minutes
Negative experience: Sign on door says in bigger print 'CDC recommends wearing mask'. Receptionist behind plexiglass wanted to give me a mask. Apparently AAA made masks mandatory again so I walked out. My membership expires next month. I will not renew. We need to move on.
Negative experience: Made several calls and left messages. After several days, I went to a different notary for the Title work. I finally received a call back days later after my initial call. I explained I could not get a response so I had to pay a different notary only to be called "rude" and hung up on. I tried to call back to speak to manager but.....you guessed it. No one answered.

Negative experience: I would give this place no stars if I could The two times I have went into this place the lady's working always have an attitude and are grumpy. I needed a duplicate of my registration and you would have thought I was asking for something they know nothing about. Needless to say I left there without a duplicate because she had no idea how to do it. Also, everytime I call no one answers the phone. I even call back and try different options because the one I need I can never get help with. I WILL NEVER DO OR BRING BUSINESS THERE EVER AGAIN!

Fantastic experience: They are so helpful here! I'm so glad to be a member. I got the most expensive package and it wasn't too pricey for even 2 people. My last flat tire WITHOUT AAA was a nightmare. It took forever to get help and I spent more money basically living at an 83 exit while I waited. Now if it happens again I'll be out of there quicker and safer.

AAA Central Penn has always exceeded my expectations whether it be roadside assistance, travel assistance (Cruise, Airline), and Insurance. The service is great and the prices are even better.
