Negative experience: I had a flat tire on a Saturday across the street from the AAA Car Care Center in Irmo. I drove across the street at approximately 1:45 PM. The customer service person was curt, unhelpful and generally just rude. I was told he could not help me because he had a parking lot full of cars and then he told me the tire was ruined even if he could help me and he couldn’t get a new one. I called roadside and they came to the location loaded my vehicle onto a tow truck at the front door of the store within 30 minutes. I just found out the tire is not ruined and was able to be patched and taken care of in 30 minutes. When I called the Car Care Center to complain, I had to deal with the same person (Brian). He quite rude, argumentative and unprofessional. As a long time member of AAA I am truly surprised and disappointed at the lack of service and help. These centers are the face of AAA so a very unfortunate experience.

Positive experience: My family and myself used AAA for their Travel Service. We priced other cruise lines through other websites and found out that AAA came out to be the best deal. We booked our cruise with them with no problem at all they were very helpful and very knowledgeable with the cruise line and with any of the questions we had. We also noticed online from Expedia that the cruise came down in price we contacted AAA and they called up the cruise line and was able to adjust our price to the lower price with no problem. Also since we were AAA Plus members we were entitled to the photo at no extra charge for us to add on to our passports for the four of us which was a bit of a extra savings and a surprise in good way. They also printed out all the paperwork for us to bring to the passport agency. I also noticed that AAA offers gift cards to restaurants and other places in their office at a 3% off discount which could be helpful if anybody is looking for a gift or even themselves to save a little bit of cash. We had to get it towed to the shop and these guys were very honest saying they would try to look at it but they were busy, and it sounded like our jeep was having major engine issues. Danny and the 2 gentlemen who handle auto service needs when you walk in, as well as all the guys who do the service work in the back/shop, are all great folks! Yes, performing service on one's car can expensive sometimes...so have it done by reputable people who keep in mind that they want customers to be treated like they want to be treated as a customer: only perform the service that needs to be done, perform the service properly, and be competitive in pricing of the service with others that perform the same service...in my opinion AAA auto care in Irmo SC is where you should go!

Negative experience: My roommate went there to get his car battery replaced since it wouldn’t crank. They did that and some routine cleaning/an oil change, but they returned the car with a broken hood latch and the cruise control not working anymore. Now he has been in a back and forth with them to fix it for 2 days and they are trying to charge him for things they broke.

Fantastic experience: When I began having car troubles Monday morning (around 11), they went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. Fantastic experience: Maintaining a classic car, it’s sometimes difficult to find places where staff is knowledgeable about specific parts/specs/etc relevant to the vehicle as they are becoming more uncommon. I have come across mechanics who won’t even try to work on my car (1979 Malibu) because they are concerned about availability of parts. Not only did the staff at this location find the tires I needed (even though they are a less common size), they also found the specs for the alignment that were not immediately available in the computer system. They went above and beyond what many places I have been to would and I sincerely appreciate their efforts. Great place.

Negative experience: I was charged 495.00 for a starter That was just the charge for the part The total bill was 891.00! I feel like I was ripped off right here before Christmas! I had to call to check on my car several times! They charge 110.00 for a diagnostic test! If you have repair done at the facility they should forgive that charge. I will not be coming back to this facility and I'm considering dropping my AAA membership and going with a competitor! This place is a total rip off! I expected better from AAA since I used to work for them years ago!

Positive experience: I have used AAA car service before and was somewhat pleased with the quality of service, but my last trip there I had the feeling they overcharged for something simple. Changing the Throttle Body to Thermostat Housing Pipe Hose which is very visible on top of the engine should not take 2 hours of labor. Many experts on video do it in less than 10 minutes. The service adviser tried to tell me that it's a very hard part to reach which is not true. I was sitting at the waiting area the whole time while the service guys were just chitchatting next to the car. Also They overcharged ($74 for the part that costs $35 at ACDelco). Even the diagnosis was way overpriced since I already told them where the leak was. It would have cost me less to take it to the dealership.

Fantastic experience: Have always been skeptical about taking my cars to mechanics I have not known. But these guys don’t just tell you what they want to do but take pictures along with their recommendations and send directly to your email and let you decide. My son works for a dealership so after forwarding on to him he replied back that everything they said and showed was spot on.
