Negative experience: Hello, I had a very bad experience with AAA. East Brunswick Nj I requested a towing service 12/2023 for a work vehicle with transmission problems. They told me that they could do the diagnosis and estimate to see if I decided to work with them, the price seemed good to me. But then they recommended replacing the catalytic converter, which it seemed that I would need soon and we decided yes, the problem is that today 10/2024 the vehicle still does not work. They replaced it twice and it still does not work. They told me the problem was the exhaust which was another bill of $1000 more, on 10/24 they tell me that the problem is the gas pump which they are asking me for $1,500 more. This is absolutely unacceptable. They called me like 10 times to let me know that my vehicle was ready to be picked up and that I would have to pay the bill because they would charge me for a space for being in the parking lot. I went to pay, I took the vehicle and the transmission was completely loose, I returned the next day and they just said sorry, I spoke with the manager and they did not know what had happened... all of this is unacceptable, very unprofessional, but very expensive in their prices.

Negative experience: I thought being a Premier AAA Member since 2001 might have held weight . Wrong. The work order written by the AAA service team member made me sick . I guess I should have mentioned that I've been a mechanic working cars since I was 14 years old and 20 years professionally. Overcharged me on almost every repair. He even put my free diagnostic, for a obviously leaking rear pinion seal then for the electrical concern that fried my alternator. I asked to have my rear pinion seal changed but he quoted me for both front axle seals which is a lot more expensive and a lot more labor and more parts. Also how do you get to the alternator you have to take the shroud of the fan the pressure pump the alternator out. I was charged three times for the same job done to alternator replacement, power steering pump replacement and clutch fan replacement. And the parts quoted were almost double the amount of what I paid for them at the autoparts store that AAA uses for replacement parts. I advise anyone that has been to that repair facility to take their final bill to another shop to have it reviewed because if they did this to to me they possibly have done it to others

Fantastic experience: Not their fault my engine seized. Customer service was great. Quote was about 1k more than other quotes, but with the 10% dicsount and assurance of quality mechanics, it would have been worth it if my Equinox wasn't a piece of junk. Dude at the service desk was awesome.

Negative experience: Never left a review before but seems necessary. Called AAA to have my car towed as I discovered white smoke coming out from under the hood after driving it for 10 mins. Dispatcher told me I was eligible for a 10% discount if I took it to a AAA repair shop. Had it sent to this location, went home, and got a call from John who said I would need a new radiator and coolant flush: $1089. I thought that was an absurd price, so I called my usual mechanic who said he could do that for about $450, which sounded far more reasonable to me. Had it towed again to my regular mechanic, luckily it was covered by AAA since it was being towed FROM a AAA facility. (love AAA this review is for this location specifically.) Once my mechanic had a good look at it he discovered the radiator was fine, it was just a radiator hose that blew. Replaced that, replaced the coolant, charged me $150. Go to Zotic instead and save 90%, this place is a scam.

Negative experience: My daughter had a flat tire on her way to work. She was towed to AAA in East Brunswick, arriving at 9:30 a.m. When I arrived to see what was taking so long, I was informed that they "looked at the wrong car." The manager proceeded to go take a photo of the tire and told me that "it is flat" and "would need to be replaced." I told her that I knew that and that's why we were here. Confused, she asked, " oh, you already knew that?" She proceeded to quote me $520 for 2 tires. I need one tire. ONE TIRE. My daughter was told she was "next" at 11am and should only take "20 minutes." It is currently 2:33pm and the car was JUST NOW brought into the bay. 5 1/2 hours to change ONE tire. If I was strong enough to push this car back to Woodbridge, I would. Buyer beware. I'm seriously reconsidering my AAA membership. I will never be returning here and I highly recommend others follow suit. 2:50 update: Tech is taking a cigarette break Still waiting for my tire to be changed. Unbelievable.

Positive experience: We went for travel information and were able to sit down with Nicole. We gave very specific details about what we wanted on this trip. Nicole took notes and restated what we wanted. She then printed out an itinerary with flights, cars and hotels. Unfortunately, when we got home and looked it all over, many errors were made. We wanted nonstop flights yet were quoted on flights with 1 stop layover. Car rental was also incorrect. We had to book it all ourselves separately. Office was clean and staff were very nice

Negative experience: The customer service has been getting worse the last couple years. Today was it, had 9:30am appointment. Car there all day. Showed up near closing only to find the car never moved went in ohh we can't get the job done today. The work with the right tools and lift is at most 1 hour. They never called all day to notify what was going on. Again the customer service is terrible now.

Negative experience: I am not satisfied with the service at the AAA Care Care Center in East Brunswick, NJ. I had my car towed there the day before thanksgiving and it was serviced the Friday after. They supposedly did a diagnostics on my car and said it as the battery and the terminals needed to be replaced. I picked the car up that evening (Friday) and Sunday morning it would not turnover. I had it towed by AAA again but this time to my mechanic to find out that they never tightened the terminals and they did not check the line to the alternator because the line was faulty. I called the Car Care Center to speak with the manager and he raised his voice with me and accused me of not doing things right. I will never go back to this AAA car care center again. I have lost respect and trust in the service people and the other employees. I trusted that I would be cared for because it was AAA but not anymore. Not happy with the way I was spoken to by the manager. Poor customer service.
Negative experience: Avoid like the plague. I brought in 4 tires to get mounted and balanced, tires and rims were off the car, and they charged me $180. Careful with these guys.

Positive experience: Ana Feldman was awesome and on point with my tire changing experience. She ordered the tire for me, got me best pricing and notified me when it came in. I had setup an appointment for a tire change (1 tire) once I got to my appointment, it took them almost 90 mins to change the tire. They tire changing staff was super nice and it probably took them a bit longer because it was an uncommon car. The service manager came off a bit rude to the employees. I was in disbelief on how he was talking to them. I also gave him instructions about security features of my car and he disregarded them. (Maybe he was having a bad day)

Negative experience: If i could rate this place a negative number, I would. Absolutely horrible. Overpriced. Scam. They put me through hell. They found issues to fix that I didn't even ask for and was refusing to let me tow my car out of there since I told them I can't afford to pay the new cost. All I needed was a new starter. Price went from $960 to $2000. They insisted I fix these extra issues even when I told them, I can't afford it. We agreed on $960. They claimed they didnt know either till they looked deeper. Great, but now i cant afford it! Thats the bottom line. Its like they couldnt understand that i couldnt afford $2000. They kept on and on pressuring me to fix it. The car isn't even worth it! Plus, that seemed way over priced! I got 2 opinions from other mechanics while my car was there and they told me to get my car out of there now! They said no way is a starter and a hose $960 and now they want to charge you $2000!?!? So when i told them I sent a tow truck to get my car out of there , they tried to charge me $350 because they removed some hoses already. They also told me my car was under no condition to be towed. Why? Wheels were on, just some parts under hood was removed. Are you kidding me? So, after arguing with two different people, I was able to tow car without paying this insane fee. The parts they removed from car were thrown in my trunk and they couldn't even put my radiator cap back on. I came in for a starter. That was it. My car is thankfully at a new mechanic who doesn't understand why I was even priced $960 in the first place or why the starter even costed $363. He told me they could have went underneath the car to remove Starter and all this was unnecessary. This place is a joke.

Negative experience: Flat tyre asked my sister to change tyre due to location of flat. They did not even checked in water. Tyre was dry.. Checked with local flat tire and did is for small amount. AAA needs to sell tires and taking yearly fees but servicing is at bottom.. I suggest, please don’t fix what they ask.. car is like patient always look for 2nd opinion… AAA is not right place..

Fantastic experience: We came here to get international driving permits for out trip to Europe next month and Nicole and her associate (whose name we regret we did not get) were extremely helpful and efficient. One of the friendliest custome experiences we've had. And we were able to complete the whole process in less than an hour. My wife found a perfect, unobtrusive money belt and they also offered to advise and assist us with car rentals in Europe.

Negative experience: I had three dashboard lights coming on and had an oil change. They detected that I needed a new wheel speed sensor near back tire and recommended new brakes. They had issues with the axle nut, trying to get through the rust. Eventually, telling me I need a new Axle they cannot get through the rust of the old one. Picked up the car. To a tune of over 2k, had the oil change, new wheel sensor, time spent for dealing with rusted bolts, labor for steering and suspension, diagnostics, brake labor with new brakes, calipers and rotors, brake flush, new axle shaft, sway bar, new nuts and bolts etc. Upon leaving the parking lot, there was a terrible scraping sound while driving. I right away went back to AAA. They put car back on the lift, and told me that it was the coils under the wheel hub. They adjusted and I went on my way. As I got closer to home, left right front turn signal not working. I brought the car back. They determined that it is not the bulb, but a poor ground. They said it could be the harness, we can replace the harness and connectors, or run a new ground wire to the signal socket. The new ground wire was added. Another couple hundred. Upon starting the car in the parking lot, the dashboard brake light would not go off. I went back inside to service to report issue, they took it for a test drive. This time, I was told, it is the brake switch and that needs to be changed. They replaced the brake switch, another couple hundred. I go to parking lot to get my car, and start the car, and the brake light is still on. They said they will have to do more diagnostic work. They said they pulled the codes, it could be the sensor related to brake fluid or master cylinder, but that they still believe it is due to the loss of ground in the harness. They are insisting the harness has to be changed, that the ground wire they ran is not solving the issue. I pick up my car from AAA on with the recommendation to take the car to a Jeep dealer. In parking lot, I started the car, brake light still on, and now the front passenger fog light was not working. Unnecessarily had to pay for a brake switch that didn’t need to be changed and was not the issue. I am sure some of the other changes, most likely were done unnecessarily. I ended up taking my car to another mechanic. Car was there a few hours, and it had nothing to do with the brake switch or harness or anything related to the brake fluid sensor or with master cylinder. There was a faulty ground, due to a frayed wire. Other mechanic fixed easily and no further issues.

Negative experience: I just had a very unpleasant experience at AAA. I had an appointment this afternoon for a simple oil change. I was told that it would take about 20 minutes to get my car in the bay. I waited an hour and saw that there were plenty of open bays. I even saw mechanics that were not occupied with anything. The cruelest cut of all is that when I asked the representative for an update, he made it seem as if it was somehow my fault that the wait was so long. It took an additional 35 minutes for my oil change to be complete. When I saw that my car was ready I asked another rep if I can settle the bill. I don't think I will be returning here and I am strongly reconsidering my family's AAA membership.

Negative experience: All tires loose and front tire damaged after an oil change. Estimated cost of $600+ to repair. I could have gotten into a fatal accident had the tires fallen off. DO NOT GO HERE. They don't know what they're doing and it will cost you!

Negative experience: This AAA service center quoted me a price double of my local AAA service center. They fully tried to take advantage of an out of towner. I joined AAA to avoid such a situation. Who do i call? Dateline or 20/20 ? I can't be the first to have this experience!!

Negative experience: I went in to get tires put on and i came out with my brakes making a grinding noise and barely working. I never asked Maurice to touch my brakes, but he said he “checked them” and now all of a sudden i need new pads and rotors asap. My brakes were perfectly fine before he messed with them. Negative experience: Update a year later: I have been using my new (cheap) battery for over a year, with absolutely no issues. I have left the car unused for nearly 10 days at a stretch, at the peak of the winter, and it still started instantly. This confirms that my original battery was indeed damaged, yet AAA refused to replace. Also referring to the "Response from the Owner" tagged below, I did indeed follow up by email to aamidlantic.com as advised there. That turned out to be additional waste of my time and energy, as they made me fill out a whole bunch of forms, only to be told afterwards that they would honor the warranty only if I could also submit a receipt from the AAA store certifying that the battery was faulty. ============================== Refused to honor AAA battery warranty. My battery is within replacement warranty period. My car was not starting for well over 6 months, whenever I let it sit for more than 48 hours - doesn't retain charge. Been managing by disconnecting the battery when not in use even for a day. I first verified that there was no issue with the car - alternator supplies a healthy voltage and parasitic drain is negligible. Called AAA main number, and they asked me to bring my car to this AAA garage. The guy handling repairs was trying to deflect from the get go. He first said they would need to keep the car till they could reproduce and verify the issue, which I could not agree to since I did not have other transportation. They then did what was claimed to be a load test and claimed that everything was fine with the battery - flat refused to honor the warranty. I don't even trust that the proper load was applied, since the performance numbers they showed in the receipt didn't sound realistic to me. Huge waste of my time/effort, for something worth barely over $100 (I drove straight to buy a new battery and replaced myself). But it looks like skimping on a battery replacement is worth much more to them than their reputation and customers' good will. Please stay away from this place, and from AAA batteries.

Fantastic experience: This place has always been one of the most professional Auto Care Centers I have ever been to. The staff are extremely helpful and care about the problems that you're experiencing with your vehicle. They also work with you to find the best, most cost-effective solution for your vehicle. As for their Road Side Assistance, they helped me out of a couple of jams when my car was experiencing problems at night and I couldn't get home. You can't go wrong with Auto Care from this place.

Negative experience: Do not come to this center! AAA is a rip off. I am extremely disappointed with the service at your 260 NJ-18, East Brunswick, NJ 08816. My teenage son had an appointment at noon for a tire patch. Service center staff tried to rip us off. This is evidenced by the tire replacement quote they gave my teen son was $100 over the MAZDA dealer price a few blocks away. I saved $150 by getting the exact tire installed at a tire retailer. My college freshman teen boy appears to be an Indian. In our region of NJ Indians are thought of as poor drivers and naive. Service center personnel totally took advantage of him. And they neglected to give him paperwork to document the proposed service. I further was disrespected as a Black Woman. Would your service center have argued with a man? They totally tried to steal from my NJIT college student son, by keeping the Yokohama tire and Mazda rim. The car has under 2000 miles on it so the tire was new. When I called and cancelled the order and informed the rude man who worked with him that I want the tire back, cancel the service order, shame on him for taking advantage of a teenage boy. His service consultant was rude and tried to berate me. I told him that the car had not been driven flat so he was lying to accuse my son of driving on a flat tire. More importantly, once I told him to the conversation is over, cancel the order and return the tire and rim, he should have stopped arguing. This was totally disrespectful. When we arrived at the store, the chubby black man refused me my tire until I talked to a manager. I informed him that I was not interested in talk, just my tire. I could get it cheaper installed for $100 less at the Mazda dealer down the street. He told me by law they had to document the refusal (an obvious lie). I informed him that I will file a complaint with BBB and NJ consumer over this blatant rip off a consumer. His sales pressure was disrespectful when I clearly stated no conversation, just the tire. It took me several tries to get him to stop talking and just give me my tire and rim. For the record, I was driving my Subaru Forrester. Hopefully, AAA will train their service personnel to honor a member’s request and just return their property. Once the member states there is no more conversation, just move on. AAA employees also show a need for cultural sensitivity training when dealing with young drivers and Asians heritage members. As a Black woman, I also feel my needs were ignored. This negative experience is making me reconsider continuing my decades of AAA membership. Roadside is free to us since we have new cars. Plus, GEICO is cheaper. Travel discounts are often better from the hotels and airlines. Hard to find a restaurant that will give AAA discount. I would not recommend using AAA service centers if they are cheating people. AAA has not lived up to its mission of providing good value and honest car repairs. SHAME ON AAA.
