Fantastic experience: We are 3 senior friends from Scandinavia who wanted to go on a three-week cultural holiday to Egypt, to experience the country's amazing history and current daily life. We asked Somaya from Elswere to plan the holiday, and Somaya suggested a plan that turned out to match exactly with our wishes. We have seen cities, temples, museums, daily life and more, in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and on a boat trip on the Nile. What really pleased us was that everything was applauding, hotels, transport and guides. If there were problems, Somaya solved them from Cairo within a few hours. It was good to have Somaya in the back all the time to guide us through the holiday. We would like to mention our two guides in Cairo Kholouf Mohammed and Samaa Atlef, as knowledgeable, very friendly and flexible to our wishes, they were a real pleasure. Our 5 day boat trip with LazuliNil Dahabeya Boat was a pleasure and the crew made sure our trip was exceptional. Fantastic experience: Our experiences in Morocco created a fantastic trip of a lifetime. Thank you for allowing both my sister and me to join Katie and John in this traveling adventure which we would not have normally done. Your expert planning, the services of an excellent guide and capable chauffeur throughout the trip made this challenging trip a reality for us. The rich culture of Morocco, the variety of exciting experiences and the seamlessness of these experiences made this one of our best trips ever. Here are some of our favorite Moroccan memories. First, the friendliness and hospitality of the people made us feel so welcome and helped us develop an appreciation of the value placed on family, food and hospitality in the Moroccan culture. Second, The Royal Mansour and the Riads were spacious and beautifully reflected the Moroccan traditions. The elegance of the rooms, the peaceful surroundings and the accommodating staff made us feel like royalty. So much beauty and comfort provided many restful nights. Third, the food everywhere was fresh and flavored with wonderful spices making each meal a delight. We especially remember the dinner at The Grande Table Marocaine for its outstanding atmosphere service and cuisine. Truly a memorable evening. At the fun and informative cooking class at the Maison Arabe we had the opportunity to create some delicious dishes which we can duplicate at home. Fourth, the bucket list activities fulfilled many dreams: a sunset camel ride in the desert, glamping in the desert and seeing the sunrise, studying the stars with an astronomer, the relaxing hamman and spa treatments, seeing the stunning Majorelle Gardens and a hot air balloon ride by the mountains with breakfast service with a waiter!! So much fun and excitement! In addition, with the help of our well informed guides, we learned about the religious beliefs and the various traditions and history of Morocco, The beauty and craftsmanship of the Hassan II mosque in Casablanca, the Medinas with all the leather, weaving, metalwork, pottery , foods, etc and the people going about their lives walking, riding a motorcycle or on a donkey - all these sights, sounds, smells and tastes created a mind-opening experience which leads us to appreciate a way of life so different from ours. Yet in meeting the people we also were struck by the commonality of people struggling in their daily lives to create a good life for themselves and their families. All of these experiences and more were made possible for us by your excellent and generous work in putting together our itinerary, making all of the arrangements and providing quality service throughout. Fantastic experience: Turning to Elsewhere to organize a trip to Morocco at relatively short notice turned out to be a great decision. Zahira, the local expert in Morocco, gave great advice/guidance and crafted an itinerary perfectly suited to our travel style. She arranged every single detail - our driver, tours/guides and accommodations (our choice based on options she provided). Once finalized, the roadbook she sent with details of every day's plan plus local customs, tips was super helpful pre-trip and in destination. From airport pick-up on arrival to drop-off on our way back, the trip was executed smoothly. The guides/tours and accommodations were very good and, in particular, our driver Mohammed was fantastic. Fantastic experience: I had an incredible experience using Elsewhere to plan my trip to Egypt. Our trip was complex with a small group with people arriving and joining for different parts of the trip and as we were celebrating a milestone birthday, multiple trip surprises planned! We were connected with Somaya, based in Cairo, who served as our travel agent and planned a near perfect trip. Every hotel exceeded our expectations, our guides in each city (Waleed in Luxor, Ismael in Aswan, and Kholoud in Cairo) were each personable, incredible knowledgeable, and extraordinarily helpful when we needed it. Somaya and I worked together for almost a year to plan this 14-day trip jam-packed with activities and travel all over Egypt. All of our activities and tours went off without a hitch, from pick-up at the airport to our departure. Somaya was incredibly communicative and made herself available 24/7. She was flexible and supportive when we requested last-minute itinerary changes and additions and helped us troubleshoot issues (like having trouble with withdrawing money at multiple ATMs). She also went above & beyond when planning special moments and surprises for my partner's birthday, coordinating with our Nile Cruise to decorate our room and plan a surprise party on the boat, as well as a special party in the desert. Everyone who we met from the travel agency, Cheops Travel, (from drivers to coordinators at the airport), were professional and kind. I would definitely use Elsewhere again when planning a longer and complex trip, as the local travel agents they connect you with are incredible and deserve your business. The platform is easy to navigate and makes the process so easy. Couldn't recommend more!

Fantastic experience: Elsewhere made us a beautiful itinerary for Morocco!! We absolutely loved our driver Achraf and had a jam packed 10 days all across the country. Although there were a couple of things we would have done differently had we made our own itinerary, our trip was extremely amazing and memorable. The people of Morocco were so kind and respectful to us and we would definitely travel there again. We recommend visiting Tanger, Chefchaouen, Marrakech and Fes. We visited the Agafay Desert and we had an amazing time there but I think next time we visit we would try the Sahara. Definitely would travel with Elsewhere again as they were so accommodating the entire time. They even coordinated wine and a birthday cake for me. Thank you, Elsewhere!!

Fantastic experience: Had a great 2-week trip to Tanzania thanks to our Elsewhere planner. Though not everything was exactly perfect, overall we were very pleased with the choice. The most valuable part was that thanks to our personal planner, we could really customize the trip, which included squeezing in a photography session, adding a few offbeat activities with short notice, and having flexibility with the daily schedule for the most part. Our planner also gave us tips and advice that helped us arrange our time on our own better while in Zanzibar (everything was fully arranged and all accommodations were full board in continental Tanzania, but while in Zanzibar we were mostly left to our own devices except for the pre-booked hotel). We didn't need it, but found it a bit weird that the "24/7 in-country emergency assistance" was essentially just our planner, who obviously couldn't humanly work 24h/day. I had initially thought before our trip, Elsewhere would connect us with the proper channels for a more organized and formal emergency service line, but that wasn't the case. One small mishap during our safari time was we had to take in two other passengers from the same safari company during our only day in the Ngorongoro Crater, as their vehicle had broken down. They joined us from about 10am to the end of the day. We had both booked private tours so this wasn't ideal for either party. It was a slight inconvenience and a bit unfortunate as that was our only day on the crater floor, likely for all of us a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The other couple was kind to get us a bottle of wine for our dinner that night but there was no compensation from the company's side. Despite this, we really appreciated the chance to craft a truly bespoke trip for us. Our planner even helped arrange pickup, storage, and drop-off of some of our luggage while we were about to go on safari. Perks like this would be hard to come by if we'd booked a large group tour. We also stayed at some of the more special and off-the-beaten-path places, as most tourists tend to remain in their "safari bubble" and stay at mostly international chain hotels with little local flavor. Another thing, as others have pointed out here, is that Elsewhere does not give a cost breakdown of the individual elements in the itinerary, but I have yet to find a tour company that does. Of course it would be helpful to see the breakdown, but unfortunately that secrecy seems to be the industry standard. We went on a (public, 16-person occupancy) hot air balloon tour in Serengeti, unaware that the (retail) price per person was $600. Had we known this, there's no way we would've wanted to keep that in our itinerary for $1200. The actual price we paid for this activity will never be known. It's true that the travel planners may have industry discounts at some places, but it's not transparent where and how much. Also, everything booked through the Elsewhere platform comes out to be about 30%+ more due to fees and commissions, so it doesn't feel very promising that we would've paid less than what we could've gotten on our own. Which, brings me on an off topic - while the balloon ride was fun. It was clear that the balloons were extremely frightening to the animals and very disruptive. The loud noise, large size, and flames in the sky scared away animals everywhere we went. While our pilot did what he could to fly ethically with minimal disturbance to the animals below, not every pilot is as mindful and the sad reality is there's simply no way to get around the noise and presence of these large flying monsters in the sky. Many animals communicate via sound, sometimes at frequencies humans can't hear (for instance, elephants), so flying these noisy balloons is surely going to cause irritation, if not harm (animals could get frightened and separated from the pack/herd/family).

Fantastic experience: I need more than 5 stars to reinforce how amazing our experience was! From our very first Zoom call, Pravin was incredible. He listened to our travel goals and crafted an itinerary that gave us a true flavor of India. His attention to detail and level of service was phenomenal. We travelled through Old Delhi, New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. We had a fantastic driver, Sandeep, who was with us for the entire trip. Pravin arranged unique and lovely accommodations that were a step apart from International chain hotels. We also had knowledgeable and friendly guides for each excursion. I just can't say enough good things about Pravin and our experience with Elsewhere for our India adventure!!

Negative experience: SCAM ALERT - Beware of Deceptive Services! If you’re considering booking a trip with Elsewhere, please read this and proceed with extreme caution. My husband and I spent over $11,000 for our honeymoon trip to Italy, expecting a worry-free experience thanks to Elsewhere's promises of "award-winning trip planning" and "24/7 real-time support." What we got instead was a series of unprofessional missteps, dismissive responses, and dangerous conditions that marred what should have been a dream vacation. False Promises and Misleading Claims: First, Elsewhere claims to offer 24/7 real-time support and a dedicated concierge service. In reality, support was limited to Italy’s 9-6 local time, and I received nothing but a scripted, uncaring response. My inquiries and requests to address the glaring flaws in our itinerary were outright dismissed. Ignoring the Customer's Needs and Expectations: From our first call, I explained that we wanted a luxurious experience with private tours and accommodations that offered parking, as we’d be driving. I emphasized our preference for high-end, private hotels and flexibility in budget. Despite this, the “award-winning planner” assigned to us sent an initial itinerary that completely ignored these points. After I requested revisions, the final itinerary seemed better but still did not deliver the type of experiences we wanted, which we were only able to discover upon arrival in Italy. Dangerous, Inadequate Accommodations: The nightmare truly began when we arrived at our second hotel, which Elsewhere had chosen without providing any of the detailed information promised. This hotel had terrible reviews, limited parking (which our planner knew we needed), and rude staff. Upon arrival, we found it was impossible to park nearby, forcing us to walk 15 minutes uphill with luggage. My husband slipped and was injured in this process. Elsewhere’s “support” was utterly unhelpful, suggesting that I “should have read the reviews before booking”—as if it wasn’t their job to vet these places on behalf of paying customers! When we finally got to our room, it was completely inadequate for our needs, with no privacy, shared living quarters, and lack of basic amenities—something I NEVER would have chosen if I had been given truthful information. Additional Out-of-Pocket Costs Due to Incompetence: The third hotel was even worse. The parking was down a hill, and I had specifically requested a non-smoking room due to my asthma. Upon arrival, we were given a smoking room with no alternatives available, forcing us to find new accommodations and shell out an additional $1,500 on our own. No Accountability or Transparency: I requested an itemized receipt of the charges to see what I actually paid for, but Elsewhere refuses to provide one. How can a company not offer transparency when its service is this poor? Elsewhere clearly operates on a kickback model, putting travelers in partner hotels that serve their interests, not the interests of paying clients. Insulting Customer Service: After filing a chargeback for half the cost—a reasonable amount considering the lack of services delivered—I received a rude response from Elsewhere’s COO, dismissing my concerns and offering a $500 “refund” if I withdrew my dispute (lol). I’m well aware of the legal violations here, and it’s clear that Elsewhere operates on a misleading, unethical business model. Elsewhere over-promises and under-delivers, prioritizing profits over customer experience. This company is a fraud in every sense. UPDATE 12/11/24: It's always cute when companies post snarky responses to reviews, trying to gaslight you into thinking you're the only who has ever complained about their shoddy service. The fact that Chase granted me a SIX THOUSAND DOLLAR CHARGEBACK with NO QUESTIONS ASKED, when they'll ask for a vial of blood to get back $50 on a basic refund you never received , tells me everything I need to know about being the only person to ever demand anything unreasonable of this saintly company. Buyer beware.

Fantastic experience: Emi was our trip coordinator and she planned our honeymoon to Italy. We had a blast it was so much fun and they took care of everything! We got to travel to 3 cities and I'm so grateful we didn't have to plan out the transportation it was all booked for us. We told her some things we wanted to do while in each city and she had them booked for us which was awesome. We also wanted a lot of time to explore the cities on our own, which she left plenty of time for that and gave us some good recommendations on what to do or where to eat. We had such a great time and can't wait to come back!

Fantastic experience: I was hesitant to use a travel agency for my solo trip to South Africa, because they are relatively new and didn’t have a ton of reviews but I am glad I took the risk! The approach of having someone from the region plan your trip is great one! The prep conversations were very helpful and the places I stayed and the guides I had were wonderful! Taneall did a great job, and I highly recommend working with Elsewhere.

She took care of absolutely everything and did a great job and was very responsive and checked on us every day. We had a rough outline of what we wanted to do and one specific lodge we wanted to stay at, and our agent Laura did an amazing job making it all happen for us on short notice. Fantastic experience: We recently visited Spain for two weeks through Elsewhere.io. The impetus for our trip was to see the America's Cup sailing races in Barcelona and then to travel throughout Spain. Our agent Berta was so helpful, especially when we realized we had to change our flight details and come a day early to make sure we could see the races! Our tours at each place were so informative and friendly. Throughout our trip we had 24/7 access to our travel agents through What's App to ask any questions. It was so helpful. We had an amazing trip!

Fantastic experience: We used Stefy to plan a trip to Spain and she planned an amazing trip for our family. We spent time in Barcelona and stayed in a great apartment, had private tour of the Gaudi sights and wonderful meals. We also went to a medieval town, did some canyoning and then headed to the beach. She made all our lodging and dining reservations as well as the rental car. It was super easy and things went smoothly.

Our two week trip through Japan was crafted to meet our needs and desires. From lodging and transfers, to tours and experiences, our local expert, Carlotta, took care of it all.

Fantastic experience: We just returned from a 12 day trip to Thailand and everything went great. June's hotel picks, tours, and transportation were spot on, exactly what we wanted. We had a couple small issues, not the fault of Elsewhere, and when I contacted them for help the answer was immediate. We have never used a travel agent like this before (we always plan on our own but we had no idea about Thailand) and were impressed with everything they did for us.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I used Elsewhere to plan our ten-day trip to Morocco, and they hit it out of the park. Our local guide, Zahira, met with us over Zoom beforehand to get an idea of the kind of vacation experience we were looking for, and she provided the most incredible bespoke itinerary. We were able to work with her countless times to adjust plans as needed and request specific experiences - basically anything we desired, Zahira found a way to work it into our itinerary and within our budget. The communication was responsive and clear, and I had complete faith that our vacation was perfectly planned. The luxury of having a knowledgeable, local professional plan our trip and book us into tours and experiences with other knowledge guides cannot be oversold. I don't think we will travel any other way now. I would absolutely recommend Elsewhere, and more specifically Zahira, for anyone looking for a high-end, private, bespoke vacation itinerary in Morocco or elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: Croatia - we visited all major regions during our 16 day trip generally starting in the north and moving west and south. Beautiful historic preserved country with friendly people excellent food and much to experience. We used Elsewhere to organize our trip and I would give them high marks for organization of the itinerary, selection of drivers and guides, availability to us at all hours for anything, and responsiveness. As opposed to organized tours, using elsewhere's customized and personalized itineraries as well as local knowledge and access to assistance is much preferred no matter the destination. Two areas for improvement would be that first the traveler must take ownership for being clear about what you require in a hotel - room size, location of room, amenities like balconies, pools, gyms, etc and not rely on general ratings like 5 star, 4 star, etc. Several of our hotel rooms were too small for us which could have been avoided with more communication and planning. Second, there could have been clearer guidelines regarding tipping in Croatia as we had many drives and guides that provided service each day and we were unsure as to what and how to tip. Croatia is a very popular destination now and tipping guidelines are unclear. We were regularly confused as to how to handle this both in terms of when to tip and how much as we did not know what a particular tour of say Split for three hours cost and thus could not calculate a tip % to the guide who did a good job for us.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Elsewhere for your travel! Elsewhere crafted our trip to Naples and Sicily and it was amazing. Our local area expert, Andrea, was fabulous. Everything he arranged was perfect: hotels, ground transfers, drivers and guides, and tours. We are experienced travelers but would never have found the experiences Andrea found for us. We are looking forward to using Elsewhere for our next adventure.

Fantastic experience: Thanh & Nam carefully planned an amazing trip for us to Vietnam. Not a detail was missed and they took us to many delightful places from Hanoi to Hoi An. The hotels were cozy and the activities were so much fun. We are a small group and Nam always showed up to make us feel taken care of. I can't say how much we greatly appreciated Elsewhere - there was no travel worries or stress!

Fantastic experience: We used Elsewhere to help craft the right trip for us in Bahia, Brazil - half in Salvador and half in Chapada Diamantina national park. The planning process was easy, and we had the flexibility to book some pieces of the trip ourselves and to let Elsewhere do the rest. The guides and drivers were knowledgeable and tuned into our travel style enough to recommend some itinerary changes on the fly at the park. And the Elsewhere staff was prompt at answering any and all questions during our stay.

Fantastic experience: My sister and I took a trip to Ecuador for her birthday and had an absolute AMAZING time thanks to Maria and Elsewhere! We have her an idea of what we wanted to do and how much time we can spend and she created the perfect trip. In one week we visited 6+ cities and towns and had one of kind experiences such as zip lining, hiking to see The Devil’s Caldron waterfall, taking an embroidery class and hand feeding humming birds in the cloud forest. We would not have come up with most of what we did on our own. Our in country guide Santi was also great, pointing out and sharing details about the country’s rich history and culture that made the trip special. Fantastic experience: We recently came back from a 9 day tour of Morroco planned by Elsewhere, ZAHIRA, and quite frankly, the expirence was just the best. We were greeted on time by our driver Mohamed at the Casablanca airport and from there everything was just perfection. Our Riads were all located in the City Center old Medinas. They were each so unique, hand piecked places with lots of charm and character (posting some pics herein for reference). The tour was indeed busy but with slow pace to sightseen and relax. Each local especialist was super knowledgeable, with +8 years of experience and speaking over 4 languages. They made our trip so especial since they tried their very best to transfer their experiences and their expertise of the country to us in each tour, each bite of food we tested, each walking… was simply magical. Furthermore, Elsewhere - Zahira, was there all the way. We had a small hiccup at one of the Riads at Chefchaouen, and the team ensure the situation was handle and resolved ASAP. Overall, this was the greatest trip of our lives. We learned so much and got treated like royal guest by each place we stayed. Can’t recommend this company enough, trust me, it won’t disappoint.

Fantastic experience: I was craving for an adventure packed vacation. I wanted to visit Argentina and experience their culture, tango, asado. Snowboarding in Bariloche and see the magnificent glaciers. Also wanted to accommodate Torres del Paine there. Fantastic experience: Our family of 4 (two kids under the age of 10) successfully traveled around Japan for nearly 2 weeks. With the help of Venese, we were able to prepare with things we wanted to do, take in consideration suggestions and provide a clear idea of what we wanted this experience to look like. She crafted nearly a flawless adventure for us that was so dialed in, comprehensive and flexible. Her response time and support on the ground during our trip was remarkable. We had some hiccups with weather and accommodations- unrelated to Elsewhere and she was continuously in communication with us and made rapid changes leaving it stress free. ie: Checking out of a hotel early bc of a Typhoon, changing train times, communication with accommodations and guides. When you are traveling with kids, its even more stressful to make impulsive decisions or decide what your next step is- Venese was beyond our expectations and there is no way we could've navigated such a complex and fruitful city without her. A few learnings for Elsewhere : **** The program they use for the guide is clear. However it was our source of truth for everything. We were living page by page. It was very challenging to not jump to the section we wanted vs scrolling every time **** Clear comms on whats being offered in Food Tours- It was very beverage heavy in bars and we paid for kids to join not knowing it would be very adult focused ie: Paid for 4 and they couldn't get the 2 drink minimum **** A lot of communication is done prior to the trip and its a bit paralyzing in the moment. Would've loved reminders like " A 2 night minimum to ship luggage to anywhere" **** It was a bit challenging to determine proximity of things. Even though a map was shared- it never populated what Elsewhere suggested, rather a map of a city which left a lot for interpretation. We ended up putting suggestions and touch points in a diff app called OOO which was more reliable

Fantastic experience: Countless experiences in Chile. This is our first time using a travel agency for traveling. We found this website while reading a Lonely Planet articule. The response was immediate after we sent the request. Ignacio was our trip curator, a very reliable , professional and flexible person. He gave us several options about traveling to Chile and after we finalized the process of planning, then the adventure started. Turismo Milodón is the company who received us in Santiago. We were very well impacted by the punctuality, professionalism and knowledge of the people involved in the trip: our excellent driver Eliseo; our guide Claudio Prado who accompanied us to the viñedos and the guide in the Patagonia Juan Erices. Overall it has been an extremely satisfactory experience. Hotels are comfortable specially in Santiago. The breakfast is five starts and the beds and showers perfect for travelers. Transportation is confortable and reliable. Highlight of the trip were the tour in Patagonia and the visit to Isla Negra, Valparaíso and vina Del Mar. We enjoy very much the dissertation of our tour guide while visiting the vineyards and the display of knowledge showed by Juan during the visit to Torres del Payne. Definitely we left the country with the desire of see more of Chile and for sure we will reach out again Turismo Milodón for that.

Fantastic experience: We had an amazing time in Edinburgh and the Highlands, thanks to Lindsay’s Highland Tours. Prior to our trip, we had the pleasure of working with Louise, who helped us ensure our itinerary reflected our personal interests. She was able to identify activities like kayaking on Loch Lomond and feeding reindeer in the Glenmore Forest Park that we wouldn’t have come up with on our own. And the accommodations she secured for us in every location were not only clean and comfortable, but unique and memorable, including a restored Victorian home on the Isle of Skye and even a castle, surrounded by trees planted by Mary, Queen of Scots. Upon arrival in Edinburgh, we enjoyed a private whisky tasking and met with the owner, Steven, who took the time to get to know us and ensure our trip started on a high note. And touring the city was a breeze, as Louise had secured tickets for all our tours and attractions ahead of time, meaning we didn’t have to contend with any sold out events (a serious possibility, given it was the Fringe Festival!). Once our trip into the Highlands began, we were picked up by our fantastic guide, George, who instantly made us feel as though we were in the company of family. He amended our itinerary as he got to know us better, adding in several castle visits, given our love of historical homes, and helping us to arrange dinner reservations in the busiest stops on our itinerary. We quickly realized that traveling with a local is the best way to see the country. The ferries were canceled for several days due to inclement weather, but we didn’t have to worry about that, as we were being driven by a knowledgeable local who knew all the best routes and rest stops, and how to re-route when weather or traffic became an issue. George is wonderfully kind, welcoming and knowledgeable. We felt as though we were seeing Scotland’s national treasures…in the company of a national treasure himself! Thank you Louise, Steven and George! It was a trip we will never forget.

Fantastic experience: We had a FABULOUS time. The girls got to hike to the top of crater and waterfalls. The directions were great. We lucked out w the weather. I wish we had time for museums. Our only complaint was the a Settlement Museum. It was boring and very OVERPRICED for what it was. You couldn’t go back or skip ahead on the head set.

Positive experience: The whole concept behind Elsewhere makes a ton of sense! Working with someone who lives in the country you're visiting is not only practically easier - language, time zone, etc - but also gave me a sense of trust in our expert having a more intimate knowledge of our travel options. For the most part, this all played out as expected. When we told locals some of the places we were going they were impressed that we weren't just going to the obvious locales. Having EVERYTHING arranged in advance was an absolute dream. Every transfer, every guide - all of whom were fabulous - most meal reservations were all taken care of. Our expert Nick was incredibly responsive and willing to work and rework with us, which was much appreciated. I think the part that didn't work as well for me was having no idea of any price breakdown, which made it hard to make informed decisions about what maybe I would have changed had I known the cost. This works in both directions - cancelling an activity because it was too expensive or upgrading a hotel because there was room for improvement. Not knowing how things balanced out made it impossible to make those assessments. Also, the fee to the expert is quite high, and while I would hope that this meant he wasn't beholden to certain hotels as a typical agent is, I truly don't know. Overall, there were some learning curve moments to working with Elsewhere (and any agent in general I assume), but for a trip with so many variables and possible itineraries, this worked very well for us.

Fantastic experience: We had a fabulous time in Switzerland! Our Elsewhere agent curated a trip with multiple activities enjoyed by both kids and adults and allowed for exploration of several locations in Switzerland. The hotels selected were perfectly situated for walking the city and easy access to public transport. It was also really great to not have to cart our luggage from city to city. Too many pictures to post (and I wanted to avoid ones with my family in them, hence mostly scenery). We did chocolate factory tours, got to see cheese made in Gruyere by hand, and walk through a UNESCO world heritage site wine producing region, with knowledgeable and pleasant guides, see a glacier and kayak on a mountain lake. Will definitely be utilizing Elsewhere for future trips.

Our guides were exemplary, the accommodations top notch, and oh! the places we saw and experienced. Words can not do justice to how good we feel about this trip. We had good accommodations in all of our cities, and all the hotels were well-suited for American guests. The Hotel Splendid in Venice is a must stay… beautiful rooms, amazing breakfast, friendly staff and literally in the center of everything! We enjoyed all the tours in Italy Elsewhere recommended! We especially loved the Chicchetti Food Tour in Venice, the Tuscan cooking class and the Tuscany winery tours. These activities were all fantastic and highly recommend Emi and the Elsewhere team were extremely helpful and responsive while we were in Italy. The transportation they planned was flawless. The Elsewhere team was extremely proactive in helping us successfully navigate around a sudden rail strike. It was comforting to know the Elsewhere team was on top of things and always very helpful!! We highly recommend Elsewhere.

Positive experience: Elsewhere helped me plan a multigenerational family vacation to Greece. Albert was very knowledgeable in the planning stages. He made recommendations and booked an itinerary including all transfers and ferries (Minus flights). He answered all of my questions and helped me feel prepared for my trip. Fees are not exactly cheap so understand the cost upfront. The only downside was that we couldn’t make changes to the itinerary once it was booked. Once on the trip I wanted to make some changes, like cancel a tour, but was told everything was non-refundable even though it was over a week out. There are many tours you can book online that you can cancel up to 48 hours in advance. I would book tours myself next time to allow the flexibility I prefer.

Fantastic experience: We used Elsewhere to book our trip to France and Spain this summer. My family and I (myself, my husband and daughter) traveled for a total of 15 days. We had a wonderful time. We had some basic excursions and cities on our wish list, Marianna was wonderful to work with and picked some options we might not have found on our own too. We had some hiccups along the way as you do with all travel, but Marianna and the team were on top of it and helped out whenever we needed something. For example, my husband got sick during part of the trip and we had to cancel one of our outings, which Marianna managed for us and received a refund for us too. Fantastic experience: We planned our trip to France fairly short notice, just over a month before leaving. The Elsewhere team quickly connected us to our travel agent in France and she was amazing. She booked a trip that met all of our requests, balancing seeing the sites but not being too touristy at the same time. She recommended we rent a car to allow us more flexibility which was the best advice. We opted for a private tour of the D Day sites and a private boat tour in Saint Malo. Both guides were amazing - local, knowledgeable and made the experiences great. We could not have had such a great trip without Elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: AMAZING SAFARI AND WIND-DOWN TRIP TO SERENGETI/ZANZIBAR with Sababu Travel My husband and I booked a safari through Elsewhere (specifically Sababu Travel) and we couldn't have been more pleased. Denise worked tirelessly with us to craft an experience that was exactly what we wanted. When we started safari planning, we received several quotes from many other tour operators. In most cases those quotes were a little less expensive than Sababu's. But in the end, we chose Sababu because of Denise's expertise and knowledge, as well as the quality of the lodgings she was suggesting. But that was just the beginning. Once we reserved our trip (we did have to trade out 2 of our accommodations because we'd waited a little too long to make our decision), there were tons of practical and logistical things to decide. Denise was there for us with our "one million questions," always pleasant and ready to help with info about visa's, what to pack and even what size suitcases to bring. I think that probably the most critical part of a safari is the guide and driver and we got THE BEST in Daudi. His knowledge of all the wildlife, even the smallest rodents, tiniest birds, and of course the big 5, was seriously 5-star. We learned tons about animal behavior, animal diets, the Serengeti ecosystem and how it all interconnects. And after spending my career working at National Geographic Magazine, I thought I already knew a lot. Alas, this trip was the best education, Daudi had so much to teach us! Add to that, he had extraordinarily keen eyes. We could hardly believe he'd spotted a lion or leopard tucked away in a tree with his naked eyes, until we found it with his patient directions using our binoculars. (critical note: don't forget to take at least one pair... but best to take two). And finally, Daudi was a first rate gentleman and just an all around great person (as is true of ALL the Tanzanian's we encountered). I was actually sad to leave him when we he took us to the airport. Another note about Sababu is their commitment to helping the local population, particularly the Maasai people. We brought a suitcase full of English books to donate to the local school. I would not have known about this need if it weren't for Sababu's tagline to "travel with a purpose." And on our way to our camp in the Central Serengeti, Daudi found a Maasai home where he provided them with solar lights and a water filter. We were pleased that part of our trip subsidized this gift that could help a family have lights and clean drinking water. And now truly lastly, our accommodations were first rate. The Original Maasai lodge was gorgeous and surely the nicest mud hut we'll ever get to spend a couple of nights in. The setting took our breath away and the nighttime spear throwing and dancing were a massive treat. The Maasai people were sublime hosts who seemed genuinely interested in sharing the culture with us. Our one night at the Retreat at Ngorongoro Lodge was a luxurious respite in the midst of what seemed like a rainforest (very swanky, even got to use a hairdryer)! We stayed another single night at the brand new Acacia Ngorongoro Luxury Camp which was our first time in a safari "camp." Extraordinarily comfortable, especially for two people who really don't love camping. These Serengeti Camps are not roughing it AT ALL. Our next 3 nights were spent at the Signature Serengeti Camp which was even a step up from the first one, had great food, and the most genuinely nice staff we could imagine. They even sang and celebrated us on our last night because we stayed for 3 nights... apparently that's a rare occurrence. Then off to Zanzibar where we spent one night in Stone Town at the lovely Neela Boutique Hotel, and following a tour of the town, spent our last two nights in the amazing, beautiful, all inclusive Mora Resort on the Indian Ocean. It was the perfect way to end our 12 day trip. We were rested and relaxed when we began our 30-hour journey back to the states!

Cris and her team were connected with me once I chose to go to Brazil in the intake form and they curated a dream trip for my boyfriend's 25th birthday, exceeding all expectations. My only 2 goals were to plan a trip for him and I where we got to take a deep dive into Brazil's African heritage, and do a percussion class for my music-loving partner. Cris delivered beyond measure. We started off in a charming coastal town of Paraty and then jumped up north to São Luiz for the beginning of their Junina festival celebrating São João. It was an explosion of culture and a lively city. This was a stop before going to Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, a gorgeous place that Cris recommended we include in the trip. The landscape is otherworldly, a surreal dreamscape of rolling dunes and crystal-clear lagoons. It was an unforgettable experience. Our final stop was in Salvador, the capital of Afro-Brazilian culture. Throughout the entire trip, Cris's attention to detail was impeccable. She went above and beyond, arranging a series of thoughtful treats to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. The guides she chose were knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about sharing their culture. And she helped us to accommodate my boyfriend who doesn't eat seafood (while we toured through almost entirely seafood oriented cities). I wouldn't hesitate to book with Elsewhere or Pure Brasil again and have already raved about them to everyone I know. Our adventure in Brazil was truly magical, thanks to Cris and her team's exceptional service and expertise. We can't wait to return!

Fantastic experience: Really great trip to Ladakh! Everything just as I needed to complete the Journey. Pravin not only planned the perfect trip he was there to smooth out any bumps along the way. Dolma was the best guide. She was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We had a fantastic driver who got us where we were going on time and even got the vehicle unstuck in the snow. They were able to assist when my flight got cancelled and help me get another flight. This was my dream trip come true. Elsewhere really delivered!

Fantastic experience: If you want to visit a faraway place like Japan as my husband and I just did and would appreciate a little support from insiders while adventuring out on your own, then working with the teams that partner with Elsewhere, a travel planning offshoot of Lonely Planet, is a great way to go! The experts at Eighty Days, the Japanese group who partnered with Elsewhere for our trip, went above and beyond to tailor the occasional guided tour, ease all internal transportation, make restaurant recommendations, set up our hotels, and answer questions by WhatsApp on the spot whenever we had them. Just the right mix for us. Really appreciated everything they did for us with very personal attentive touches.

Negative experience: We had an incredible trip to Costa Rica. The accommodations, tours and transportation were amazing and we loved working with the local expert. She was top notch! However, it’s important to note how much using Elsewhere actually costs since we weren’t entirely clear until we had already booked flights and paid a deposit. Elsewhere Fee: 13% of trip Local Expert Fee: 10-15% of trip (ours was 15%) Elsewhere Website Platform Fee: 3% of trip That means that 31% of our total trip cost went to paying fees. That’s way above industry average for a travel agency.

Fantastic experience: Elsewhere planned a 15 day trip to Costa Rica for me. In an initial interview with my planner Irene, she quickly learned about the type of trip I desired. She then planned an amazing trip that included every detail for lodging, transfers, guides, and tours. Because I wanted to stay active and see a lot of the country, it was a busy and complicated itinerary. Every item on my itinerary (lodging, tours/guides, transfers, park entrance documents) was planned with reliable organizations and top notch people. Not one single difficulty occurred during the trip, and any changes to flight or tour times was communicated effectively to me. Fantastic experience: We are very happy with elsewhere for our fantastic trip to Iceland. Everything about it was great: working with our travel expert Trent, the platform itself, our itinerary and "trip book", the communication, and price. I'm an anxious overplanner and it was such a relief to know we were in good hands. We would absolutely do another elsewhere trip. As an IT person, I knew I could use AI and apps for planning. In fact, I did exactly that for a separate part of our trip to a different country. But having our local guide Trent in Iceland was invaluable!! We tacked Iceland onto an existing trip sort of late and I worried that elsewhere wouldn't have time to put anything together for us. They answered right away and Trent adjusted his schedule so he could help us quickly. We had a conversation with Trent about what we wanted to see, our expectations, and our price range. He presented us with a loose itinerary right away and then we fine-tuned it through the elsewhere platform. It was very collaborative and he was extremely responsive. In the end, he made all the needed reservations (for lodging and activities) and then provided a list of optional things we could see on each day and the estimated time to see them. The trip book had links, history, tips, maps, and info on lesser-known spots and hiking trails. We used it a lot. Because we were visiting in the volatile weather month of April during an active volcanic eruption, our itinerary changed several times last-minute. Trent was tireless in finding ways to contact us to give us information. One day, he warned us about impending, road-closing weather, which didn't seem too scary to us while looking at the weather apps. But it definitely WAS scary and we were grateful for his warning! Trent was quick to offer ideas on alternative activities when weather dashed our plans. He knew I really wanted to see the Aurora, so when our tour was canceled due to bad weather, he gave me information so I could find it on my own. So early one morning later in the trip, I wandered out in the howling wind and indeed saw the Aurora right above me -- so close! As elsewhere says, it's worth a lot to have a 'wingman on the ground'. There were other things I appreciated about elsewhere. 1) The platform itself is well done. The communication portal, blogs, and design is great. 2) Everything they say on the website is true. I never felt like they were trying to up-sell us. The experts are vetted and they do their jobs well. And a bonus -- I wasn't hounded to leave a review -- that's so rare these days! 3) The refunds for our canceled activities showed up right away. 4) Elsewhere's commitment to sustainable and responsible travel is very clear. I know that the success of our trip was largely due to Trent's extreme attentiveness. He listened to everything we said and answered every question, truly. He gave us honest feedback when we were trying to see too much. The trip was perfectly paced and just so wonderful. Thanks to Trent and elsewhere for leading us to such beautiful memories.

The boutique winery, Descalzos Viejos, nestled within an 800-year-old Monastery outside Ronda, was equally captivating. Despite renovations, its historical charm remained intact. Notably, they still utilized ancient aqueducts, dating back 800 years, for irrigation, a truly astonishing sight!
