AAA Pittsburgh Insurance and Member Services: Reviews
Negative experience: So I had AAA for towing in case of break downs. Car broke down around 11pm in the summer. My phone was down to 8 percent; I said thank God I'm still able to call and get help. I called, they said you need to download and use some stupid app. I did, but my phone died twenty minutes later. Because my phone battery died, they never came to get me; they cancelled my towing request and literally abandonedme. Luckily, it was summer, and four hours later a random tow truck spotted me and was kind enough to tow me home. AAA is garbage and actively harmful.
Fantastic experience: People are super friendly. Easy and quick car registration as long as you have all the stuff you need.
Negative experience: Submitted all the paperwork for a vehicle registration. AAA faxed the bank that holds the original title. They didn’t receive anything for 2 months but never told me that, I assumed it was being processed by PENNDOT. So 2 months later I’m just now starting the estimated 90 day process to get a license plate. Thanks for nothing AAA.
Negative experience: Useless
Fantastic experience: Incredible management and associates. Best location I’ve been to in the Pittsburgh area.
Fantastic experience: Great service! All of the staff were amazing, especially Nicole. The titling and registration process went smoothly despite a complicated situation. Nicole guided me through the entire process and was incredibly helpful.
Fantastic experience: Amy Madler was fantastic! She made the process so easy, she was kind, knowledgeable and I would recommend going to see her for your title transfers or anything related to it.
Fantastic experience: Annette J. Excellent experience! She made selling my car to my Mother very easy and even signed us up for free credit reporting which we didn’t know was an offer though we have been AAA Customers for over a decade. Very personable. Felt like we were talking to family.
Negative experience: Nobody never answers the phone .
Fantastic experience: I was very impressed with this location. This site is very clean & organized. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. As I was waiting to be called, I observed the other staff members. They all seemed very pleasant, smiling and the customers they where assisting, appeared to be pleased with the outcome.I was assisted further by Nicole. She deserves more than 5 stars. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and resolved my problem!. I would recommend this location to family & friends.
Fantastic experience: I came in last Wednesday to get my finger prints done, and the woman who helped me was so nice! I wish I remembered her name, but she made it a very positive, quick experience and did not make me feel bad at all for running late (originally went to the wrong location--no fault of AAA). Overall, I was very happy with this location and how kind they were!
Negative experience: I will never go back to this location. I went yesterday around 5:30 for a title and registration transfer (to be fair they close at 6pm, but this was the only day I could make it there with my girlfriend in two weeks since we are both needed on the documents). Instantly was greeted with attitude but they put me in queue. We sat down and waited for about 25 minutes - multiple employees walking around and sitting at their desks but clearly nobody wanted to help us. Finally someone called us over and asked for the documents. I only had an electronic copy of the bill of sale so I asked if I could email it to her to print. She said she wouldn’t get the email since it was after 6pm…I said your email doesn’t work after 6pm?? Then she changed her story that they had been having problems with the system all day. I said okay and we left. I’m sorry they hate their jobs and I’m sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused. One extra star just in case their email really does turn off at 6pm. Rant over.
Negative experience: Had to wait 2.30 hours in the car for them to come and fix a skid plate. And we had a kid in the car. They changed the time from an hours to another hour and half after we waited for an hour. We finally just had my mom come and pick us up.
Negative experience: The receptionist was rude. Didn’t put us in the system. Another worker saw that we'd been sitting for over an hour and came and put us in the system. She then took care of us, because the receptionist was on a break. She was not professional and not good at her job. That's a bad combination!
Negative experience: The girl who helped us was very nice however the front desk receptionist was verbally aggressive to the customers walking in. It only took a matter of time before she was rude enough that a customer asked for her manager and name, which was Sara. The issue is they close at 3, which to the general public means you can get help up till 3. She told everyone that the employees leave at 3 so they weren’t taking anyone after 230. Thats extremely poor customer service and interferes with the planning of the general public
Fantastic experience: Great...great...great A#1 service on a Friday!!!! Thanks again Mrs. Karin...Mrs. Robin and the cherry on the top Mrs. Annette she was sooo patient although I was drenched in impatient behavior but she recognized it and gave me the best customer service i ever had... thanks again Mrs. Annette
Fantastic experience: They are very informative sometimes the way can be long.. however they're very pleasant and very informative with my travel and insurance
Negative experience: Absolutely the worse service and staff was very difficult to work with. We left and went to another location.
Positive experience: This is the main AAA office I use when I need to do anything DMV related. It is not the closest to my home but the employees are always so helpful and it seems I always have a lot of random things that need to be addressed. The last two times we had a woman named Nicole help us and she went above and beyond. She got onto a chat site for AAA to get some clarity about some questions we had regarding turning anambulance into an rv or keeping it as a truck. She was incredibly helpful. I also wound up switching to AAA insurance after finding out it was a better price for the same coverage so that was a bonus. My only real complaint, and it has been more than just today, is how incredibly cold they keep the air conditioning. With my disability, it is quite painful to be in such a cold room. Especially coming in from the heat we have been having. It causes my muscles to seize up and it is very uncomfortable. When I inquired, I was informed that it was due to one employee requiring it and that there was nothing to be done. It is unfortunate that there isn't a way to accommodate that person without making the entire building uncomfortable. I am actually writing this review in hopes it can be addressed better as it can't be that I am the only person who is uncomfortable with the temperature.
Negative experience: Jen the notary was unnecessarily rude and overly officious. As a 38 year AAA member I was always treated with respect at the Washington Office. I will not use the McKnight office again.
Negative experience: Where to even begin...it took almost two hours to have our car purchased out of state to be registered in PA at the McKnight Rd location. The office staff is so inefficient. The four ladies up front are all involved in each customer's case. We were interrupted by the need for staff to load the postage machine, our rep was interrupted to sign forms from another staff member in the middle of her work with us, we were told they cannot receive emails and they may take more than a week to get to them, and the four ladies up front constantly interrupt each other's work. I have never seen such a poorly run office. At one point another employee came out with a stack of paperwork errors for each of the front four women to review and "learn" from. They were airing their considerable mistakes in front of us. Then there was an issue with the plate they were providing us just to find out from the very public conversation that one of the four ladies had made an error with a plate she gave our earlier. They were wondering out loud how to fix the error because the customer was gone. The women who made the error was "glad she made it and got it over with." Considering it delayed our process further we were not so happy. Who ever manages the office needs to take a hard look at if that is the right position for them as the inefficiency and time that is wasted is unbelievable. If possible I would suggest you avoid this location unless you have copious amounts of time to waste.
Negative experience: This North Hills location is the absolute worst!!! They DO NOT answer their phone or emails! Once the even completely messed up at title I had been waiting and waiting for because they filled it out wrong .. then when they do answer calls (if they do) they are rude!! ... I work in a hair salon I am well aware of how you treat customers. This is so aggravating and disappointing
Negative experience: I just came today to get insurance and transfer my car but disappointed already the staff are really slow and rude they could not help me zeroooo
Negative experience: No one EVER answers the phone at this location. Worst customer service ever!!!!!
Negative experience: They told me they will not answer their phones at all. When I was given a direct number to call I did not get a call back until 2 days later. For your sanity please do not waste your time calling. Just do not go here. Go to Wexford they are a million times better.
Negative experience: I needed my car towed. After being told a Tow Truck has been dispatched to my address, i was told I would be contacted with a ETA, so I waited around for 2 Hours, and nobody called me with an ETA, I called AAA a second time, they said they would be at my address at 7:27pm, so I waited all night until 8pm. No Tow Truck, no phone call, so I called AAA for a third time, they told me a Tow Truck would be at my Address to Tow my car after Midnight, and to Leave my Keys in my car!! Lol What!! I told them I've been waiting all day, and now the Tow Truck can't make it to my Address until after Midnight, so I cancelled the Tow. Why am I Paying for a Gold Plus Membership if I can't even have my Car towed
Negative experience: Where to start? I’ll start with the black lady and a blonde lady working the front counter. The black one has no idea what she’s doing and the blonde one is miserable and giving everyone attitude. There’s Roughly 10 or more employees at this location and only 2 of them switching titles in a packed room. Long wait times… There’s other title places in the north hills that I will choose next time.
Negative experience: White Lady at the front desk was extremely rude and not helpful
Negative experience: Just horrible service. I think the people there try but are very understaffed and they still live back in the stone ages using fax instead of email and such. If you don't want to wait 2 hours to do a title transfer just go 15 minutes up the road and cranberry Messenger will have you out within under 20 minutes.
Positive experience: I really loved AAA because we like to do travel and loved going to the store to get the travel books on wherever we were going. They were extremely helpful and I enjoyed reading them. To my disappointment we went last week to get a book on a trip and they are no longer providing the books. Customers need to go online. I'm sorry but that is not the same. I will not rejoin when my membership expires.
Positive experience: easily renewed AAA membership
Negative experience: Never received a call back
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and friendly.
Fantastic experience: Great service. Phil took care of us.
Fantastic experience: Helpful and fast.
Fantastic experience: Always helpful, friendly service, with fairly decent wait times
Fantastic experience: They had a free battery check today. Lots of people took the opportunity to get their battery checked before winter. Great idea.
Fantastic experience: Excellent Service!!!!
Fantastic experience: Phenomenal and fast service. Even under staffed the employees were always moving and helping.
Fantastic experience: Great service in and in 10 minutes
Negative experience: I’ve been sitting on the side of the road for an hour and a half for an “expedited call” for gas bc I’m in an unsafe area, and after calling back and sitting on hold for 20 minutes for an update, I was told the driver in en route but 30/40 min out!! My car has almost been hit numerous times and no one seems to care. We have been paying AAA money since 2006 and never really needed them, but the one time we do and are in an emergency situation, they can’t get it right. Save your money folks!!! It’s not really worth it!!
Fantastic experience: Quick service
Fantastic experience: Very nice
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff-went in to get our car title and registration completed as we recently move here from out of state.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful employees, convenient location.
Negative experience: I had to wait an hour for them to call me back and then I got zero cooperation. They could have offered to call the client together with me but that would have been a convenience for me. They wanted the client to call in and give permission then I can call back and wait another hour. The agent was not helpful and I am disappointed in the customer service from a company that relies on customer service. I do not recommend auto insurance from AAA.
Fantastic experience: Robin is the best at AAA EASTC...
Fantastic experience: Fast, friendly, and efficient
Fantastic experience: Got maps for my next road trip. Kind staff and good service
Fantastic experience: If only dealerships were as efficient and inexpensive AAA? I found a buyer for my car and was going to sell it for $6,000. I asked the dealership where I was going to buy my new car if they would do the paperwork to take my car as a trade in and sell it to my customer. They said they would do what was called a courtesy delivery and I would only have to pay $125 or $150 for a safety inspection since their name would be on the trade. Has it got closer to the time to do I found out that they would be charging me a documentary fee of $394 and the buyer of my car another $394 documentary fee. And this is in addition to the much more legitimate 175 that the dealer calls government fees that cover registration and plates and things like that. So I did not go to the dealer and save my $420 in sales tax. I felt I would rather give the state $420 that they need very much than give the dealer an extra 800 or $900 on top of all the commission they're getting for a full price car that I paid $500 in advance for the privilege of being able to pay full price for the car and wait a month for its arrival.
Fantastic experience: Asome
Fantastic experience: Helped with a car title transfer. Didn't wait long (even on a Saturday), and the lady was super nice and very efficient. A faaaaar better experience than going to the DMV!!
Fantastic experience: These ppl were super friendly and went well out of their way to help me. I highly recommend them and I rarely ever recommend anyone. Thanks AAA!
Fantastic experience: My go to place
Fantastic experience: I walked in. Was greeted professionally by the receptionist. Was in line to be waited on for 10 minutes... Then got my registration done in 5 minutes. Excellent Service. Thanks Ladies. ❤
Fantastic experience: Sara was very pleasant & helpful with our notary needs!!
Negative experience: Terrible. I cancelled ater waiting over 4 hours. I was going to buy my niece a aaa membership but not after that experience
Fantastic experience: Immediate response to phone message request to email proof of auto insurance coverage to our auto repair shop. Outstanding service!!!
Fantastic experience: The office appears to be poorly managed with insufficient workers for the jobs demanded. I give the place 5 atars purely because their agent Nicole was absolutely fantastic. Worked hard and quickly to attend to both my paperwork and act as stand in receptionist in absence of one. She was also lovely to speak with and funny to boot.
Fantastic experience: Fast and friendly service 'very helpful'
Fantastic experience: Very nice and helpful
Negative experience: Extremely unsatisfied the operator on the other end of the phone was extremely rushed, rude, and I gather could not be bothered to answer basic question about service.
Negative experience: I was going to be visiting Mexico so I went to AAA for an international driver's license. The agent that helped me half-heartedly confirmed I would need it. Got to the airport car rental place (National) and I was told that Mexico accepts US drivers licenses and that I didn't need to go through the trouble. So I found a sitter, ran around to get a passport picture done for this, plus paid 20 additional dollars at AAA for no reason. If you're going to Mexico, save your time and money, and don't make the same mistake I did.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful, they do whatever they can to help
Fantastic experience: Friendly and fast.
Fantastic experience: Great service. Respectful of covid practices
Negative experience: Terrible service at this location multiple times. My wife and I were getting a document notarized with her signature (my document, my membership). Due to the covid rules, they didn't let me come into the office and overcharged her for the service. I went back in and they said since she wasn't the active member that it was 2x the cost. I had called and explicitly stated that I (being the member) had a form that needed her signature notarized and they had quoted me the price of $5/stamp and then after it occurred, they decided to change the price. When I presented this info to the lady at the counter they offered to add her to my account as an associate at an -additional charge-. I stated this wasn't what we agreed upon before the services were rendered. I left unsatisfied and am going to cancel my membership. This isn't the first time that office has upcharged for things after the fact.
Fantastic experience: They are very nice and very helpful there
Fantastic experience: Their covid practices are great. Very few people in the building; the waiting is in your car. Our wait was 20 to 30 minutes (you have 10 minutes to enter the building after you are texted) so we zipped over to the shopping center and ran an errand.
Fantastic experience: Great people. Its AAA! they are great at helping you get travel reservations, or get all your paperwork done for car registration.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and friendly
Positive experience: Fast friendly service
Fantastic experience: Hello! I called a few weeks ago and they were amazing! The woman I spoke with was very sweet, answered all my questions and would highly recommend going there or calling at least! Thank you for reading this and I hope this is helpful.
Fantastic experience: I came to this location to get a membership and register my car from out of state. The employees who assisted me (Nicole and Robin) were extremely helpful, polite, and made the process quick and efficient.
Fantastic experience: Great service
Negative experience: Worst than the DMV. WAITED 45MINS FOR THEM TO TELL ME THEY CANT GIVE ME A CAMERA CARD FOR A PHOTO ID BECAUSE MY LICENCE IS SUSPENDED. SOOOOOOO FRUSTRATED
Negative experience: Rude reception
Fantastic experience: Had to register my car and I went in on a Saturday afternoon. Got me in and out in half an hour!
Positive experience: Took over an hour
Fantastic experience: Very good service
Fantastic experience: Okay
Positive experience: The direction were okay some of the roads and signs on the map had me a little confused exits work better for me.
Fantastic experience: When I walked in the door I was greeted by a young lady whom was very friendly and asked what we needed help with. When she received all the information we were escorted to one of the staff members that would process our request. When we get her the information she needed she asked us to move to the appointed distance circle's on the floor. She processed our request very quickly and I went on my way. With some of the staff that were not with a client thanked me and wished me a good day The staff were all friendly. Very quick service with friendly masks.lol
Fantastic experience: Fast friendly service for title transfer. Clean and following covid19 protocol.
Fantastic experience: Always nice people and helpful...very good at maintaining social distancing
Positive experience: Their prices for auto insurance rates are through the roof here! Im just glad they were able to help me fix a claims adjustment. Very clean place, friendly staff amd also very knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience: Went there to transfer a car title. They were very pleasant and efficient.
Fantastic experience: Dave was great. Thanks
Positive experience: I've been a platinum member for 10 years, after struggling to get out of my car (I'm disabled) and being watch limping across the parking lot (I'd just watched a man walk in seconds before me), the manager stopped me at the door, asked what I needed today (renew my registration), then said they weren't taking anyone else today. She said, "See all these cars (6 and mine), we have all of them to do and we close at 3. It was 12:30, and that was completely unacceptable.
Fantastic experience: Everybody in there was very professional and very kind and helpful
Fantastic experience: I actually didn't go in. But I do love the east liberty office.
Negative experience: The hours need changed on the web site - I arrived at 5:45pm on 9-11-20 and was told the people that do title transfers are gone the web site said 7pm - I wasn’t the only one there was another guy wanting to do the same this is poor service on AAA they should know better. I am not happy and I have been a member for 14 yrs.
Fantastic experience: They're trying their best under current conditions. Having said that an hour wait to get service on a Thursday is a bit much. I think they could do better to get people through. I would recommend opening the downtown office & East Liberty. AAA in general is not doing enough to serve its members
Negative experience: So I guess AAA thinks it's alright to leave people in parking lot for over 2 hours! And their phone system is messed up...when you call if there is a slight wait they tell you that they will send a text message so you can request service but when you actually request service you get another text message saying to call the number back...."Not Helpful"! Very slow, response time! Perhaps the AAA people like to sit along side the road...I'm going to have to rethink my 17 yr. membership.
Fantastic experience: Small wait time due to following covid guidelines was well worth it for courteous knowledgeable professional staff service.
Negative experience: I used to like this location but I recently had an unbelievably unprofessional situation with them. I was trying to get them to notarize the power of attorney of a vehicle. They told me to bring not one but two witnesses. So I had to coordinate with two witnesses and the person I was doing the transaction with. So on the day we coordinated to go, I called on my way to make sure I had everything i needed. They just transferred me around from department to department not answering my simple question until the call drop. So I showed up with 3 other people at about 5:45. It was the earliest we could get there since I work till 5 but it should have been fine because according to their website they were open till 7 AND I had called ahead so they knew I was coming. So we all finally get there, and they refused to serve us because apparently they changed their hours to close at 6 without updating their website and without caring to mention that when I called ahead. It wasn’t just me they inconvenienced in this situation, I had to drag two witnesses all the way out there for nothing. As if that’s not enough, I scheduled to have this done at another notary, and apparently we don’t need any witnesses, much less two. So I inconvenienced a whole group of my loved ones for nothing. I don’t usually write reviews (ever), but I can’t believe how many people this place has caused me to inconvenience for a simple POA because of their unprofessionalism and lack of communication. I strongly recommend the AAA in East Liberty. This location is a disorganized joke.
Negative experience: Lady who helped us was completely rude. Went in with someone for a title transfer. After being escorted in, we stood at an empty desk because she was opening boxes (no acknowledgement of us like a “I will be right with you.”). When she got around to seeing us, since I wasn’t on the title, she said “you need to be outside” (due to covid restrictions). I would understand this (despite its rudeness), however, the lady at the door welcomed both of us in when we told her why we were here (should have said something then) and other people were being helped who were in groups of two.
Fantastic experience: Doing a great job under the restrictions of the pandemic. Had to wait outside for about ann hour before getting seen. Once inside, keeping our distance, Nicole was terrific!
Fantastic experience: Very efficient. Very professional. Handled all of our business quickly and at a great price
Fantastic experience: Fast and friendly service.
