The Natchez Trace: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Beautiful drive and history. We drove through all the way from Natchez to Nashville! Well worth the trip. We also love the city of Natchez and enjoy the very informative van tour. ❤️
Fantastic experience: As you all know I am a huge fan of the National Park Service, and this was an excellent opportunity to drive on the Parkway on my way to Louisiana. Very little traffic and an easy drive!
Fantastic experience: Scenic, historic, beautiful drive. Very little traffic. Incredibly well maintained. Dozens of interesting, relaxing points of interest. Great for biking. Literally hundreds of miles long. Camping, fishing, nature watching with numerous excellent walking/hiking trails.
Fantastic experience: Super linear park with nothing commercial. No trucks, shops or any kind of business. And 80 km max. out of 750 km of pure pleasure....a vacation road.
Fantastic experience: Always a peaceful ride
Fantastic experience: Always a beautiful and peaceful drive!!
Fantastic experience: My favorite roads in the Eastern US. I love the way it just winds through the countryside, no semi-truck, not much traffic and no traffic lights. One day I will travel the entire road! In the past, I have hiked some of the remnants of the foot path trail near Natchez.
Fantastic experience: It is nice to be able to enjoy a peaceful ride without all the traffic and horn honking. There are plenty of neat places to pull over, stretch your legs, and you may even learn something about our history. I do suggest having a cooler with drinks, though, unless you don't mind taking an exit and venturing out for a store. It is beautiful from one end to the other, but in my opinion, north of Tupelo Ms. to Nashville Tn. is the best. There are tons of amazing picnic spots.
Fantastic experience: This was a nice carefree, leasure, 50-55mph ride from Nashville, TN to Tupelo, MS for us. There are so many places to stop off and read about history on the parkway that you could spend multiple days. Beautiful scenery of greenery. Lots of wildlife. Just an FYI, it is a corridor of mostly woods on both sides. You aren't going to see a lot of anything different. Speed limit is heavily enforced. Very clean. No trash or squished "things" on roadways. Restrooms on the parkway are clean. Must get off of the parkway in order to get gas. Will travel this again!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place. I can't wait to make the whole trip.
Fantastic experience: The natchez trace is absolutely beautiful to travel on. There are Indian mounds in a few places, trails to walk on, ponds, rest areas, etc. I drive the trace quite often. There is quite a bit of wild life. I have seen plenty of deer, foxes, turkeys, etc. I have even seen an eagle once. It truly is beautiful to travel on.
Fantastic experience: This isn't our first time on the trace it will not be our last. Know where to stop for gas and food. Bathrooms often and they are very clean. Camping is available but primitive. The scenery is amazing. Wildlife includes turkeys, deer and fox or coyote and cows.
Fantastic experience: The Natchez Trace is an ancient path. This may have started as an animal path, later used by indigenous peoples, copied by Europeans and now a great roadway. The trace extends for hundreds of miles through beautiful scenery and dozens of historic stops. Just a great way to travel.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful road thru the trace
Fantastic experience: Great road trip with lots to see
Fantastic experience: Great place to ride motorcycle. Interesting places to stop
Fantastic experience: Clean and well kept. Very informative.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful drive. Especially around the lake. West Florida.
Fantastic experience: Awesome drive and scenery and so glad we drove it
Fantastic experience: Always a well maintained, beautiful drive with plenty of interesting stops.
Fantastic experience: The Natchez Trace is a 444-mile long parkway between Natchez, Mississippi and Nashville. We traveled it from north to south on our way to Louisiana and it was great break from driving the Interstates. A lot of beautiful scenery and lots of interesting historical sites along the way.
Fantastic experience: Peaceful and great scenic drive.
Fantastic experience: Excellent national park. The visitors center in Tupalo was great. The staff were very friendly and informative.
Fantastic experience: Love the Natchez Trace.
Fantastic experience: On the way from Topelo it is a marvellous place of natural interest and national park
Fantastic experience: Engineered to immerse you into nature. No stop signs. No advertisements. 50 mph. A Federal Park that is 450 miles long. Take your time, meet new people, study the history. This is a wonderful place
Fantastic experience: What a phenomenal drive/escape mixed with history. Took us 3 1/2 days.
Fantastic experience: We spent 18 days traveling the Trace from Natchez to Nashville. At first I was somewhat disappointed and thought it was going to just be a pretty drive. I was do wrong. As soon as I took the time to visit the sites and read the history the Trace came alive. Be sure to take your time. Also visit nearby towns to learn more about our wonderful country.
Fantastic experience: Awesome motorcycle touring ride. I hopped on and off in Mississippi and Alabama and Tennessee. Beautiful smooth, well maintained roads. Nice historical markers along the way. I stopped in New Albany Mississippi had dinner at Nicos. Great steak and friendly staff! Being a west coast dude it was an awesome trip for me in the SE USA
Fantastic experience: Only traveled in Missisaippi and Tennessee parts of this NPS road and got passport stamps for NPS. Go to visitor center for more info.
Fantastic experience: Great drive!
Fantastic experience: Crew 85 - made up of Scouts from Tupelo BSA Troops 2627 and 85 threw their packs on and took a quick 5 miler preparing for their trek to Philmont. The weather was perfect and the trail was mostly dry, a few spots with puddles, but they could easily be stepped over/around.
Positive experience: 04/2024 Nice drive along a winding country road. The 50 mph speed limit is nice for viewing. There are many stops to pull off at. Most pull offs are just a sign explaining what use to be there or what happened in the general location. There are a few mounds to see and a couple short trails to walk. The Nachez Trace trail runs along the Parkway and we seen some individuals hiking. The three campgrounds along the way are free but get to a site early. Because they fill up fast. The Jeff Buzzbee campground my be designed for bicycles because every site is on a slope. You can park your car on the blacktop but it prohibits anyone from parking or driving near you. There were toilets at each campground but they definitely need maintenance. The Rocky Springs campground was level for RV and Van's. Anything over 40' might have a hard time driving through here and parking. The restrooms at this location get a lot of use and backup. While we stayed the men's facility wasn't working properly and men used the women's facilities. Not a big deal but mentally prepare .
Fantastic experience: Lots of information. Bad at remembering to take photo
Fantastic experience: Definitely worth doing from top to bottom.
Fantastic experience: Gorgeous
Fantastic experience: Great views and peaceful place.
Fantastic experience: Great drive with no traffic. History abounds in each mile. The camping is very nice too.
Positive experience: Absolutely love walking the trails!! Just beautiful any time of year!!
Positive experience: Bathrooms weren't bad. Glad there weren't closed roads this week. That got this traveler lost.
Fantastic experience: Only taking us a little bit less than three days to travel the entire route of the Natchez trace Parkway stopping along all the major stop offs along the way. The area is full of rich history as the Natchez Trace is one of the original routes in the U.S. predating most all of the other routes established such as the Ozark Trail. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a 444-mile recreational road and scenic drive through three states. A Drive through 10,000 Years of History you could easily spend much more time exploring and learning about the how and the why of this recreational road and scenic drive. It’s a highly recommended scenic drive along some of our country’s first routes to be laid down in our rich US history.
Fantastic experience: Had a ball. Long drive but was fun
Fantastic experience: We've been wanting to take the parkway for some time based on word of mouth recommendations and some good YouTube videos. We were not disappointed. Particularly relaxing respite from the interstates as we drive from Canada to Arizona. Fascinating history lesson too!
Fantastic experience: Loved it! National Park Service has done an admirable job of making this an easy, relaxing, educational experience. Plenty of available stops for either short or long hikes; excellent educational signage with an online app that significantly expands and illuminates the drive.
Fantastic experience: Love visiting Jeff Busby, every November, can be busy, but ohh so quite..
Negative experience: This would be so much nicer if they KEPT LOCAL TRAFFIC OFF THE ROAD AND ALL COMMERCIAL VEHICLES. It was the worst in Mississippi. If your trying to do a leisurely drive, forget it. Local traffic right on your bumper speeding down the Trace. Saw two semi trucks and a bunch of commercial vehicles/vans) work trucks but associated with the Trace on this road.
Fantastic experience: I love all 444 miles of it. If you never did it, you need to take some time and go from one end to the other. You will not regret it. It's by the best road in the united states, in my opinion, and I have been to every state, many times including Alaska and Hawaii
Fantastic experience: What a beautiful parkway! It was a great drive from end to end.
Fantastic experience: Very scenic
Fantastic experience: Love riding the Trace on my motorcycle. Very scenic and traffic is always light.
Fantastic experience: Must admit, I absolutely love this part of our beautiful country. Scenic views, interesting historical pit stops all along the Trace. Try to hit the Natchez Trace on a beautiful day other seat of a motorcycle if at all possible. Nothing compares to the experience that you will have. Pack yourself a picnic for a truly pleasant lunch date you'll never forget. Too much history along the way to not experience this wonderful route at least once in one's lifetime.
Fantastic experience: Relaxing and peaceful way to travel.
Fantastic experience: National Parks Best Parks!
Fantastic experience: Very educational! Beautiful drive.
Positive experience: We drove the entire thing from Nashville to Natchez. The TN section interesting, not much to see in the Mississippi section.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful Parkway! Lots of stops along the way to explore and take a walk/hike. Most stops are convenient for campers to pull in and out of.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful scenic drive! Definitely recommend cruising it. If it’s an option go top down or your vehicles equivalent to get the best view of your surroundings. Make a good playlist to enrich the vibe even more. And in case you don’t want to be driving constantly there are tons of places to stop and see waterfalls, countryside views, campgrounds, and rivers.
Fantastic experience: I love the simplicity of the Natchez Trace Parkway.
Fantastic experience: Great Sunday drive with lots of great hiking trails and informational pull offs
Fantastic experience: We got lost and service sucks recommend bringing along pokahauntaus cause mine (aka:my gf) wasn’t to good with directions and we went in the middle of bfe and lost service
Positive experience: Potentially a wonderful national Park resource. Over 400 MI of beautiful parkway. However many detours lead drivers and circles presumably due to poor signage. I hope they get everything fixed up soon. But the parkway dates from the 1930s.
Negative experience: As of 12/2 one big detour, wait til they are done.
Fantastic experience: You must stop at the visitor center. Great staff,
Positive experience: To many detours I like a straight shot
Fantastic experience: The Natchez Trace Parkway is my favorite place to drive and explore

Fantastic experience: Loved it.
Fantastic experience: The parkway is a beautiful, well maintained 444 mile drive with lots of historical points along the way. Be sure to take your time and enjoy the trip.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful park with well maintained trails. Plenty of places to stop for picnics. The bathroom facilities are clean. We enjoyed the waterfalls and walking in the water at Jackson's Branch. A must see place for it's beauty, great fun for the family. Can't wait to go back!!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful
Fantastic experience: Special ride from Natchez to Jackson Mississippi!
Fantastic experience: Very beautiful and scenic drive but be mindful of the speed limit
Positive experience: Does anyone know the mile marker of the field of Buttercups along the Natchez Trace parkway?
Fantastic experience: I added 300 miles to my trip just to drive the length of the trace over 3 days. It was one of the most beautiful drives I've ever been on. I slept in 2 of the three campsites. All were beautiful and free. They just about full up every night once it gets dark. It was so beautiful of a drive I am now looking at other scenic drives to incorporate into my travels.
