Fantastic experience: We just had Tanner tow our car with a flat tire. No one could remove the locking lug nut. Tanner towed the car to a dealership where he stayed trying to help remove the lug nut when the dealership was unable to remove it. My husband and I are elderly and he did not leave us stranded but worked to solve our problem and then changed the tire enabling our family to get back on the road. Our whole family is indebted to him. He is not only a great employee and representative for AAA customer service but he is also an outstanding human being. Thank you Tanner for coming to our aid today. You were a total blessing!
Negative experience: AAA keep life Going: FALSE and FALSE IF YOU NEED ANYTHING CONTACT AAA INSURANCE they'll leave you on the road Since September 6, 2024, I have been on the side of the road with my Mercedes Sprinter vehicle, year 2011 – category 2500 – diesel, broken down. We are traveling from Portland, Oregon, USA to the state of ALASKA and we took the road to return to Portland. We have a transmission failure. We were towed from Breaburn to WhiteHorse – Yukon – Canada on September 6, 2024. Our vehicle was dropped off in the parking lot of the Chrysler – Jeep – Dodge dealership “METRO Garage in Whitehorse. Neither this garage nor the other garages contacted, more than 10 garages in the city, are able to work on our Mercedes transmission - - Because only Mercedes can repair this problem - - No possibility of working on the vehicle's computer - - No tools to repair NOBODY HERE IN THE CAPITAL OF YUKON CAN INTERVENE We abandoned it on the side of the road with my wife, 63 years old, and me, 68 years old We have insurance with AAA - 7 year member Plus Today, demoralized in a civilized country, we are not in Africa We contact our AAA Insurance, I will not go into details. We had: - - + 10 interlocutors - - All asked us: Name, First name, telephone number, member number - - Sometimes communication cut off - - We were like a basketball sent from one to the other! - - With idiotic and unsustainable questions and statements - - . Fantastic experience: VICTOR, VICTOR VICTOR. For 2 days I tried to start the car , but it wouldn't work. They sent a technician that didn't go through the proper process , it started after a lot of tries ...but died right away. Then Victor came and saw that I cleaned a bit with a toothbrush from the residue left on the battery and immediately git to cleaning, took connectors off and cleaned for maybe 7-10, put some spray on and said to try again. And IT WORKED. didn't even need to be jump started. This man use his brain and critical thinking and knowledge and saved me over $300. He deserves a raise, or a bonus. If it happens, then at least I'll know they tried everything to same me some money, which is the purpose of AAA membership. He was kind and friendly and even sympathetic to the fact that I have to work in a bit and uber was eating my paycheck. I'm leaving the 5 stars for Victor and Victor only, well...the Operator was nice as well, very efficient . The other guy I'll pretend it didn't happen since I didn't actually spend the money needlessly.
Negative experience: Watched this driver push another car out of a lane, they easily could have slowed down and got between. Our car and the one in front of us. Instead the other car was forced to change lanes to avoid a wreck.

Negative experience: Called for a tow, was given an estimated time of 1.5 hours. Cancelled after waiting for 4 hours and calling another tow company. What’s the point of having a membership for emergency services if you can’t actually get any help? We called every hour after the estimated time to see what was going on, and got a range of vague responses about “dispatch having our ticket next” but obviously no one showed up. The worst was one particular employee who essentially laughed when I told her we’d been waiting for 4 hours in the heat and that “we’d have to deal with it and keep waiting.” Appalling customer service.

Positive experience: Good fast service for an International Driving Permit. $5 passport photos for AAA members. Plenty of parking available in the lot, which, unfortunately, reflects downtown Portland's problems. A little difficult to get to because of one way streets.

Fantastic experience: patrick came out to help us training harold quickly and efficiently in almost less than half an hour when we were expecting to be stranded over an hour. underpromised and overperformed. thank you to patrick and harold. patrick also has an eclectic knowledge of pokemon history which impressed us as younger millennials. all in all 5 out of 5 experience.
Fantastic experience: Hospitality was great. First time there was very clean People just had a great Attitude and upbeat Good experience.
Negative experience: I called for roadside assistance at 6:19 pm on Monday night the representative was great and helpful she said someone would be to me in 35 minutes but may be less at 7:05 someone called and said they were delayed but should be to me soon so I waited , getting cold by now finally at 8:13 I called again and the representative said let me check he then got back to the phone and told me that he was very sorry but I slipped through the cracks and they had to Now find a truck they could reroute to me instead of somebody else because I slipped through cracks they forgot about me that's unacceptable that is their job is to Route trucks to the people that call in line in order and I sat there for 2 hours plus waiting for truck that was not coming finally at 8:35 I called and just canceled it and said forget it I'll figure it out on my own great way to spend a $150 a year to be stranded in the cold and I still don't know what's wrong with my charging system now I have to pay someone to tell me that.

Negative experience: I had AAA for 60 - SIXTY years in California. I called them in OR to give my new address, etcetera. I talked with an agent, forgot her name - told her about the 60 years - and in the conversation I mentioned something about car auto rates here. She, of her own volition, arbitrarily changed my carrier, from AAA to Travelers, and happened to mention that in the discussion. I jolted awake and asked her to repeat that. She did, and seemed unconcerned about the change! I yelled at her! She burst into tears, I was stunned at her reaction, so unprofessional, and at the fact she would change my AAA, arbitrarily, to Travelers! What kind of kindergarten are they running here? Eventually, AAA got just too out of hand with the fees, so I now have Progressive. AAA here is just too stupid and snotty.

Negative experience: Been with AAA for years but this last experience ends my relationship. Car wouldn't start and needed a jump. They couldn't "find anyone in the area" and I was on my own. Finally got ahold of someone without AAA help and there was no reimbursement. Then, car broke down and I needed a tow. Again, AAA could not "find anyone in the area", so I was back to doing it again myself. What the heck am I paying for if you can't even find someone who'll do the work?

Positive experience: The dispatcher worked hard for me as I had a special request that was approved on the Oregon side, unfortunately my probably was in northern Arizona who turned down the request so I was denied service. but as I said it was a special request involving a medical emergency and the car was fine Arizona AAA wouldn't tow it to the hospital the ambulance took me too. But they were not only to do that kind of service so I can't be upset.

Fantastic experience: My car stopped running during rush hour on one of the busiest streets in downtown Portland; I was broke down in the traffic lane of Burnside Street between 16th and 17th. My electrical system was shot leaving me without any juice to power my hazards. And it was only myself and my daughter. There was no way we could push it to the side, and even if we could, it's downtown so there aren't any sides to the streets. We called AAA after freaking out for about 10-15 minutes. They had a tow truck company reach out to us within about 15 minutes. The driver said he was about 20 minutes away. And he was. He safely got us onto his truck and picked up our car. He then got us and the vehicle home within another 15-20 minutes. For such a not good and kind of scary situation AAA managed to turn my mood around leaving me in a happy state with a can do attitude. Thank you AAA for being awesome at what you do!!!

Fantastic experience: Staff were very friendly. The shop with travel supplies was a nice surprise. Finding my way into the parking lot with the plethora of one-way streets was a trick.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would , this is the most ridiculous branch ever , if they don’t have proof of something but you try and provide proof they won’t accept it , why pay money for them not to do the job they are paid for , I provided the proof you still told me no because you don’t have proof , the lead person wouldn’t give me a high up manager either she was very rude and inconsiderate

Negative experience: We were traveling to central Oregon over Mt. Hood when we hit a patch of ice, lost control of our suv, spun out, hit the snowbank and flipped the truck, rolling once and landing right side up in about 4 feet of snow. Called AAA, who in turn dispatched an outfit out of Estacada. When the driver finally got to us, he informed us that there was no way that AAA would do this as a part of their package and if we wanted pulled out, it would cost us $6 - $800 bucks. Let him know that we didn't have that kind of money and he said ok, good luck to you and drove away. After digging out a path through the snow, a good Samaritan stopped and pulled us out in about a minute. Thankfully, we landed in all that snow, because the truck was fine other than some minor cosmetics and the worse we had was a sore spot on the forehead. Don't count on AAA if you're in need and unable to pay if it's outside their normal emergency services. They'll just leave you for dead.

Negative experience: No info on their website about purchasing currency, e.g. what the preferred purchase vehicle is (debt, credit, cash, check) and no one answers the phone for any reason. Ever. Must only leave a voicemail which is never returned. Ever.

Negative experience: I needed a tow from a unsafe area and waited over 6hrs until 1am and no tow was ever sent. I called dispatch at least 8 times and was told I was not a priority and that they didn’t have many trucks available after 9pm. I explained that I had called for a tow at 6pm and was told then that I was not a priority needless to say I canceled my membership that day

Negative experience: Coolant hose went out. Got car to side of highway called AAA and started to wait... and wait.... and wait. 1 hour turned to 2. 2 hours turned to 4. 4 hours turned to 8. I'm now on hour 9. I can't afford the additional expense of calling some other tow company and then wait to get reimbursed. Since I'm on the shoulder of a highway I'm considerded high priority. 9 hours later I'd hate to see what regular priority is. What gets me most tho is the lack of updates or logistics. I've had to call every hour to get an update. I've been told I was "top of the queue for 4 hours straight". If AAA needs help on high volume days they should not make their stranded subscribers do more footwork to get somewhere.

Fantastic experience: Even though they weren't efficient at first, cuz they didn't put the order in when I called, so I waited an hour and a half no an hour, then the order wasn't in. They were very apologetic and got somebody out there pretty fast and who took and you took really good care of the car and took it to where it needed to be. I was grateful so, that's that.
Negative experience: Triple A is a trash service. They lie about estimated wait times, and make you wait for 3-5 hrs a 5 mile tow… waste of money. 100%.
Negative experience: So if theres a pre condition with your vehicle before you buy AAA. Theyll charge you $75 If you use the service same day you buy your plan. Also if your vehicle has not been tagged in the last 3 months or has lapsed over that time. AAA says they will not help you. not even with a jumpstart. Oregon DMV has a two year wait to renew tags . They have also refused to give me a refund since I cannot use the service or lets say , they refuse to help this motorist .
Fantastic experience: Got my photo taken for passport. Very capable. Actually turned out well.
Positive experience: Was glad to get state maps I needed, but not happy with Trip Tik. It provided step by step directions but never mentioned the name of town or city you were in. I couldn't use it as much as I needed it. I had to stop and ask people to clarify where I was or for directions and names of streets.

Negative experience: Tow truck #19 just almost ran us into another lane of traffic because he was taking the wrong exit on 405 bridge. Take the exit next and turn around next time it's safer.

Fantastic experience: I've been with AAA for years, but I recently needed to update my insurance. I worked with Hillary Byler at the Market St. office. Hillary is friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable. She took the time to research several policies and provided me with 3-4 different package options. When the car insurance application wouldn't be available in time for my appointment at the dealership, she looked into other options.
Fantastic experience: LUKE WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Can't remember his last name, but he had a badass anchor tattoo :) He was quick, easy, and polite to boot!!!!

Negative experience: I am a middle aged woman who was stranded in the dark at night trying to remove 2 snow chains. One of them was half off except the back was still connected but I could not reach it. I called AAA to have them send a tow truck to me to take them off the rest of the way. They said AAA does not put on or take off snow chains. They said tow truck company can tow my perfectly running car back to my home or car shop without me of course. I guess I was expected to run behind the tow truck through 2 towns to get home as well. I will never recommend AAA to anyone ever again. I will never pay for AAA ever again. I have been a member for over 10 years. AAA officially sucks. I was absolutely hysterical last night.

Negative experience: Had two AAA tow truck drivers fry my hybrid battery by jumping it wrong. They wouldn't have needed to jump it if they had sent the right truck - a wheel lift - which they did not. THIS WAS AN ESTIMATED $6000 IN DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE, ALSO THEY TOTALLY DENIED IT WAS THEIR FAULT. Nice guys.

Negative experience: I’ve always had good experiences, until today. I needed my car towed to the mechanic before I had to go to a doctors appointment and then to work. I guess since I wasn’t on the side of the freeway or some dangerous situation, they decided to take an hour and a half to bother even starting to get on route. There was no traffic at this time, no logical reason for the delay. Inconsiderate and lazy! What if I lose my job because I’m late waiting for you guys to figure out whether or not you want to help me? Am I not paying you guys enough? Honestly do better and try harder. Next time I’ll always say I’m in a dangerous situation so you hurry up. What a joke.
Negative experience: We recently saw a Celebrity cruise that is advertised by AAA and Expedia, so we decided to call the Portland AAA office -- and book the cruise locally. Sadly, we experienced the AAA booking process as tedious, involving many phone-tags, email authorizations to pay for each item charged on a Credit Card, long waits for AAA to call Celebrity Cruises and then call us back with Air Travel quotes (that turned out to be for the wrong dates!). All the prices quoted by AAA were higher than Expedia. Yet, AAA gave us no benefits for having AAA memberships. It became much simpler, faster, and much more cost effective to book the rest of our trip (flights and hotels) online, instead of waiting for AAA, then paying higher prices for the same flights. It was also much simpler and faster to complete our cruise documents then buy Celebrity excursions online. Sadly, The Good Old Days, of booking travel by calling our local AAA office, no longer work for us. Using online Travel Agencies, like Expedia, or Costco, gives us 24/7 Service, Collect Phone numbers to call when we are traveling out of the US, plus points to exchange later for hotel discounts and Gold members perks.
