Negative experience: I usually never like to leave negative reviews but this was one of the worst services I’ve gotten in regards to a simple oil change. I made the appointment online and received a confirmation appointment time. I come in on time for the appointment and am I told I can’t use the online portal you have to call in all of our customers know to do that. I was then told to step to the side and allow people who “made actual appointments” take priority. After it was my turn I told them I needed an oil change and specifically requested to have them look at the windshield wiper motors Because of inconsistent wiper functions. About two hours later I see my car finished and pulled out front I waited about 10 minutes to see if I would get called over and of course did not. I walk up to the desk and don’t even get an acknowledgment just the response of “yeah your car has issues”. I inquired about the windshield wiper motors and she assured me they were fine… which of course they were not. I ended up taking my business to another shop and they immediately found the issue of needing to replace the motor and the connector since both had been fried. They also took the time to explain to me in detail what repairs my car needed so I understand what I was paying for. As a triple A member this was probably the most disappointing interaction I’ve ever had with them. Usually I think the AAA services have been helpful but I would not recommend coming to this location

Negative experience: I am a AAA member and I have always done service ( that includes Major Parts ) in this Location, the Staff has been very Professional except on my encounter of this Manager yesterday and Today 12/27/2024, very rude & unprofessional. I just went yesterday & today to check as Air was leaking from my Tire ( which all I bought from the same location) as I explained that I am a member, this so called Manager said “ I don’t care what Level of Membership but you can take an appointment after a Week “ with an attitude!!

Negative experience: I am beyond furious with the service I received today. I had a 1:00 pm appointment for an oil change, and I arrived early, yet my car wasn't finished until just after 4:00 pm. That’s over THREE HOURS for a simple oil change! Marc, the General Manager, tried to excuse it by saying they were short a tech. Frankly, I don’t care about your staffing problems what I care about is that I had a scheduled service, and my time was completely disregarded. This is unacceptable and shows a complete lack of respect for your customers. My time was wasted, and this has left me so frustrated that I’ve already canceled my AAA membership. I expected far better, and this experience was infuriating!

Fantastic experience: They had so much more in store for services than that I realized thought it was just Maps. We met Mason he's awesome he helped us with our International driver permits, and we learned alot from him about AAA benefits we did not know about. They have travel Services which we are definitely going to take advantage of so we've rejoined.

Positive experience: I definitely would give a 5 out of 5 stars, except I couldn't find on the website where it says the retail part of this store opens at 8am. I arrived about 745am, brought a book with me, and caught up on my reading. The people that work here are 5 out of 5 stars, they want to help you. One of the employees there told me they've asked to have the website updated but no changes yet. Updating the website would help. So, if you want to purchase retail items here, the Retail Counter opens at 8am. The Retail employee helped me 5 minutes before 8am. ;^)

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a AAA member since 2018. The auto care has always been beyond excellent. Recently, I had made an appointment for new tires and routine oil change. Upon arrival the staff realized the tires were not there yet. The tires in stock were significantly more costly. The car service manager matched the price I was quoted in order to not cause any inconvenience. Really excellent customer service I would 100% recommend. Honest reliable service.

Negative experience: Yes I usually fix my car care AAAfairfax Main Street I had to drop off my car usually if longer Time fixing my car they provide Lyft service apparently, I didn’t know about the new manager. He denied my request and I didn’t wanna wait there another 56 hour but he was rude, I have been getting ride if the car fix more than 5 hours I am willing to wait to 2 1/2 or three, but when it comes to more than five hour, it should provide the Lyft service that I haven’t getting instead of being rude to the customer ! They hire the wrong manager I like Deborah who helps me a lot last 5 years her smiles and customer services are amazing !

Negative experience: Do not take your car here! Daughter had car trouble. AAA towed her car here. They replaced brakes for $1300. Within a year brakes started leaking fluid. Service Manager (Mark) said they had to do the work at this shop if we wanted the warranty to apply. Mark committed to have a tech work on the car on Monday if I dropped off on Sunday night. I did. Couldn’t get in touch with Mark for an update for multiple days. Now 11 days later and they haven’t done the basic diagnostics. We’re without a car for almost two weeks and we’re completely at their mercy. Don’t do business with this shop.

Fantastic experience: First time getting work done here, and there was a mixup with an appointment I booked, so my car wasn't ready when expected, but Mark, the manager, went above and beyond to get the service completed quickly and he was apologetic for the mixup. Negative experience: I had to drop my car off overnight because the garage isn't open on sundays, nbd. Left a note with my keys that told them the exact error codes that resulted in my car being there. The next day, they took 8 hours and 35 minutes to tell me...the same error codes I told them to begin with, and to take it to a specialist. WHY?? You had the codes at 7:30 am when you called me after opening this morning. You presumably knew what they mean before 4pm today. You could have just told me this morning it needed to go to the dealer but no. Customer's aren't real people, they don't have lives that they need their vehicles for! They just cease to exist when not handing over car keys or thousands of dollars.

Negative experience: Made an appointment with them one month ago to replace a vehicle part. Took a leave from work and got there but was told the part was not ready yet and needed to wait several hours. Common, I made the appointment with you 30 days ahead and yet you still couldn't get the part ready on the day of the scheduled service?

Negative experience: The customer service and negligence on the part of the shop were so bad, I canceled my AAA membership. They botched a simple repair, put my family at risk by not testing it, and then took days to fix it. It took no less than 2 days, 5 calls, and 4+ hours talking through various layers of AAA bureaucracy just to get the vehicle towed back to my home without paying extra fees. The systemic, layered failures in customer service and repair work should be a cautionary tale for prospective customers.

Negative experience: Do not take your car here. Actually, don't get a AAA membership at all. It's a total scam. After we paid them $600 to fix our car, we didn't realize until the drive home that they didn't fix it the whole way and were almost in an accident because of their negligence. So we had them tow it back to the shop where it sat for nearly a week while they desperately tried to find an issue that could have caused the problem they just didn't fix. So after all that, we didn't ask for our money back or threaten legal action or demand they reimburse us for the rides we had to pay for while they held our car hostage. All we wanted was for our car back without paying for a ride or to have it towed back as a separate service charge. And we were told by several supervisors that that was reasonable and they would do that. Until someone else called and told us that it wouldn't be covered. We went around like this for days until they finally got it together and agreed to give us our car back. So save yourself the headache and going without your car for a week and just use State Farm roadside assistance to take it literally anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: AAA offers a variety of services at the this location including car repairs, insurance, and trip planning. We visited to have passport photos taken so that we could renew our expiring passports with the State Department. We arrived without an appointment and were greeted immediately by a very capable young man (Mason). He took the photos and processed them quickly. We were on our way in about 20 minutes. Also note that AAA members get a significant discount on many services, including passport photos.

Negative experience: I applied for an international driving permit to have both motorcycle and car access overseas. The agent only stamped for the car, not the motorcycle and so I ended up with a $30 ticket in Phuket and now can't rent a motorcycle/scooter there. My license is endorsed for motorcycles and my application had checked off the box for motorcycle and car.

I lost my whole day and I waste my time and they don’t care about it. They took all my information and never done their job. Negative experience: I am a 2 year Premier AAA member and called for help for the first time on Sunday, October 1st at 3:54pm. The ETA for the tow truck was "before 5:05pm" and the tow truck did not arrive until a little after 7pm. I got my car towed from Germantown, MD to the AAA shop in Fairfax closer to where I live and work. On the way there, the tow truck driver was speeding, wrecklessly switching lanes, was on instagram, texting, and smoked. I am a young man who's been in the car with worse drivers than that... so whatever. When I arrived in Fairfax around 8:15pm, I go to the keybox thing to fill out the envelope to leave my key there since the store was closed. I bring my backpack full of piano books with me but then I return to my car because the pen at the keybox was dead. I have a pen in my car so I return to my car and sit there to fill out the rest of the envelope. I then decide to leave my bookbag in the car because I think to myself, "its just the starter that needs fixing. This is a 4 hour job, max. I will get my car early tomorrow long before I have to teach my piano lessons. They said on the phone that my car would be a "priority" I guess because I am a Premier member." So I leave my bag in my car. This bag has at least $300 worth of music in it. Each book except for one was $20-$50. I had 15 books, give or take, in that bag. One book had sentimental value. My very first hymnal was in there with my first teacher's handwriting in it. I left that bag in my car along with a Fire tablet. The next day on October 2nd, I call 3 times: 10:06am, 12:24pm and 2:27pm. AAA opens at 7:30AM, I supposedly have priority and no one calls me. So I call at 10:06 to kindly find out that they will be looking at my car later in the morning. I hear nothing. So I call at 12:24pm. The line rings for a couple minutes and an automated message says press 1 to hold my spot in line and receive a call when someone is available. Couple hours go by and no one calls me back so I call again at 2:27pm and stayed on the line for a while before someone picks up the phone to tell me that they did not look at my car yet. Then at 3:25pm, I get a call from them saying that the problem with my car is the starter (which I already knew was the issue), they wont get around to fixing it until tomorrow, and they wont be able to do a full diagnostic until after they fix the starter. Then today, October 3rd, I called at 1:36pm and waited on the line for 15 minutes before someone picked up. Whoever this person was had an "I dont care" tone to their voice... I was just politely calling to see if my car was being worked on yet. Thankfully it was and later at 4:08pm today I got a call saying the car was ready. The price for the parts and labor was a decent price (according to Google) so I was a happy customer to finally have my car. When I get to my car, I noticed my stuff was rummaged through. My insurance and registration was thrown in the back seat. 16 cent in my coin thing was gone. My tablet was gone. And most importantly, my bookbag with all my books is gone. Finding replacements for all those books will not be easy. I have no idea why someone would take piano books. And if you are reading this and you have my piano books, no hard feelings... can you just return them, please? My one star is because I could have gotten much faster and better service at Jiffy Lube. The one star is also because for the theft. I always read that and sign the thing where car shops state that they are not liable for theft of personal property. But I would like for the whole Google world to know how a Premier AAA member is treated. I really cannot believe that someone stole my music books......

Positive experience: Dropped my car off mid-afternoon for an inspection and was told that it wouldn’t likely be ready until first thing in the morning. I called back the next day at 11:30 and they had just gotten to my vehicle. Was told I wouldn’t pass inspection unless I completed a $400 repair and told me wouldn’t take my car out of the bay unless they did the work and was told it would be a couple hours. I called back at 4pm and after AN HOUR ON HOLD, finally got to speak to some one and they told me my car was ready. When I went to pick up, there wasn’t anyone at their service desk. The three stars are for the person that rang me up. It didn’t seem like it was their primary job there and was able to find some discount coupons to bring the cost down for me. Also, they don’t do emissions testing….

Fantastic experience: I used this facility twice over about a 6-month period to remove and repair nails/metal in my tires. Service was outstanding on both occasions. Both times they worked me into their early-morning schedule on short notice despite being booked with existing appointments. Both times they got to my repair immediately and I was out the door within 30 minutes of arrival. I was greeted by name upon arrival…very rare these days. Jim (now promoted, I understand - completely warranted) and Khalil were excellent to deal with. I will definitely be returning here when I need new tires. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Lowering my review since my previous post. Even after submitting my complaint in detail they barely made an effort to make up for their mistakes. Wouldn't recommend coming here for large repairs. We've brought our vehicles here for four years, but won't come back anymore. Finally got my car back after bringing it in for the same issue over the past 3.5 weeks, which they couldn't fix in the end. This is after they gave me the runaround by sending me to a glass shop then a body shop and not following up with me when they said they would. And they left my interior in worse condition, not cleaning up the stains they left on the door and seats. Sad to see how they treat a loyal customer.

Positive experience: The only reason I’m giving this place three stars is because I booked an appointment for 8 o’clock and my car was not taken back till 915. I purposely schedule an 8 o’clock so I can get done early as I had prior commitments that day. I only was there for oil change and a look over for my car since I’m going on a long trip soon. This is not the first time this has happened. However the customer service at the front was amazing and this review was not for them because they were great.

Negative experience: Made an appointment, had my car towed there as requested...they refused to do a diagnostic on the car, stating that it "smelled" like an electrical problem and they don't do electrical problems. I practically begged to have a diagnostic to support what was being said since my car had been there since 930a and it was now after 4pm. Nope, have it towed to the dealer who works in those types of problems. I had to leave the car for 24 hours, get towed to another shop and was told my Starter was burned out...no problem! fixed!!! What a sham! Waited all day for what???

Negative experience: Update: Since writing this review, I have received a full refund. I went to AAA to get an AC diagnostic and they charged me around $250 despite not being able to properly diagnose the problem. I was told they could not pin-point the issue and therefore I should replace the entire system (compressor and condenser). They did not perform a standard recharge or dye test despite telling me the freon was low. When I spoke to a Honda dealership, I was told the only reason for replacing an entire AC system would be if a swab test showed dust contamination throughout the system. This test was not performed by AAA. I feel scammed by this shop. I did end up getting a proper diagnosis at the dealership who told me the problem was strictly to do with the compressor. AAA was trying to get me to replace my entire system when only the compressor needed to be replaced. In addition, after speaking to a service manager I was told they would work on providing a partial refund and that I should not have been charged the entirety of the diagnosis. They told me they would get back to me later that day or the following day; however, they never got back to me and I had to call in to ask what was happening. Despite previously being told that they would not have charged me the entire cost to not even be able to pin-point the problem, I was now told that there would be no partial refund.

Negative experience: I've shared the experience of those who have written about needlessly long wait times. The problem seems to be that the people who hand out maps cannot help with car care, and so on. Work on my car had been completed for about 30 minutes before I could check out because there was just one person to handle all the car care duties. 45 minutes turned into 105. I'd give the place two stars but for how pleasant everyone there was. So, three. Updated: AAA has a robot that responds to low ratings. It's not a great robot because it wants to know which location made me wait so long. This is not a problem of a single visit; it's a problem that recurs. Fortunately, I go there only for alignments, so it happens at most every year or two. Lowered to two stars for bad robot.

Fantastic experience: My experience was a good one. They did a good job with my equinox. I went in for an oil change and tire rotation which was only $34 with membership and they did a complete health check and noticed one of my headlights wasn't positioned correctly and fixed it. The dealership in Winchester had just installed it two weeks ago. They also could have saved me hundreds of dollars on new brakes and rotors. The dealership in Front Royal charge me nearly $1,300 after I had just bought the car barely 4 months ago.

Positive experience: There's a reason that this isn't a top-rated shop. A couple weeks after I had my rear brakes serviced, pads, calipers, and rotors ( and no, they didn't show me the worn rotors or calipers to justify the need for replacement) my right rear brakes were leaking fluid and the BRAKE warning light came on in the instrunent cluster. Someone had failed to tighten everything properly after replacing all the parts. My hydraulic system lost track brake fluid, causing a risk of brake failure. This should never have happened in a competent shoo. S previous experience is why I dropped my AAA membership and why I probably will not renew.

Negative experience: I had an appointment for 8 AM and when I scheduled two days prior I was told there were no other appointments scheduled so I could pick the time. My car wasn't taken into the bay until 8:25 AM and there are three techs out there (I can see one was actually working at 8 AM upon arrival). I was told I need a new air filter and two back tires. I declined both. When I went up to pay, my bill was twice the amount I agreed to at the beginning because they put in a new air filter..Again, I said I didn't want that done so the manager took the cost of that off my bill and said "sorry for the miscommunication but at least you got a free air filter out of it". Well, when I went out to drive away, the mechanic was taking the new filter out of my car and put the old one in.. truly unbelievable that it was their mistake and I had to wait another 15 minutes for him to finish. I try to give the benefit of the doubt but I really haven't had a good experience any of the times I've gone here for an oil change. I will not be coming back here for car service, I'll continue with Jiffy Lube as I have for the last few years.

Negative experience: Didn't have a great experience today. The front desk people were really pleasant, but my issue was more with the mechanics that did my oil change. The first issue was that they didn't tighten the engine oil drain, which caused oil to leak from the oil pan. Fortunately I noticed this evening before I started driving again and had the tools to tighten it. The second issue, however, makes me question their honesty. They let me know some of the other issues with my car, as every mechanic does after they perform a service, and said both my breaklights were out. I checked both before I left, and had replaced one of the bulbs a month ago, so I knew something was sus. When I got home I opened the trunk to take a look and both had been unplugged. I can't think of any reason why they'd unplug the bulbs to check the break lights other than to get me to ask them to fix an imaginary issue. When a mechanic acts sloppy, I can check to see if they are again and move on. However, any red flags that cause me to question their honesty adds too much risk to continue with that mechanic.

Negative experience: I scheduled a 2pm appointment for road force balancing. I arrived at 1:30pm stood at the counter for almost 15 minutes before a man came from the back. He was a portable business phone. There were 3 other patrons behind me. The man came to the counter verified some data on the computer and walked away without even so much as any acknowledgment to us waiting patrons. A couple minutes later a woman came from the back. She took my info and my keys, I specifically said I was there for a road force balancing. I waited till 2:45 when she came out to tell me they were unable to do the service, when I inquired as to why? Her response was, the only tech capable of using the machine was off today. She is actually the one that scheduled the appointment the day before. What a ridiculous operation. Not to mention the whole time I was at the counter there were 3 other AAA employees in the lobby and not one of them offered to see what the holdup was. I deduced from the vibe that because I was there for auto care, I was not their problem. This is a true example of how not to treat your members. Incidentally, the lady told me I could come back tomorrow??? Haha, as if I would trust my vehicle to such an irresponsible group of people. I should have trusted my gut and walked when it took so long just to talk to an employee. Needless to say I don’t believe I’ll be renewing my membership.

Negative experience: If you believe AAA is somehow a non-profit organization with an organizational mission to serve its membership base, just go ahead right now and disabuse yourself of any notion that this AAA-owned and operated repair garage is somehow a non-profit garage. I have no doubt they have lots of expenses to cover, but they are in the business of charging as much as possible like any other garage. Their markup on NAPA brand parts on two different major repairs here was about 215% or 220% of what I would have paid as a retail consumer walking in off the street buying those parts. This wouldn’t take into account any wholesaling AAA has likely have negotiated with NAPA. Even after your AAA membership discount, their labor rate is more or less at a competitive par with other garages in Fairfax County: around $110 per hour, as of this writing in April, 2021. Also, don’t think that you’re getting what you’re paying for either in terms of professional competency either. On a $1200 job replacing my radiator, it’s apparent that one of their mechanics somehow caused collateral damage to my power steering (PS) reservoir. They finished up the radiator job, parked it outside, and called me to tell me “it’s ready for pickup.” I arrived an hour later, and, low and behold, I found a puddle of power steering fluid underneath it! So, they put it back into into their shop for another day of work. My PS reservoir was just fine before this radiator job. It magically cracked while it was in their shop, and in so many words, they blamed it on it being old and an unavoidable casualty of war. They didn’t take me to the cleaners on the extra labor for that, but they also didn’t offer to comp that or at least pay for that reservoir part they broke. I strongly suspect they must have run the PS pump dry during their repairs and testing, because, two days later, my entire power steering system went out! Then, they wanted an additional $1650 (parts and labor) to replace the ENTIRE power steering system, to include the high pressure hose, the pump and pulley, the pitman arm, AND the entire steering gear box! So, a $1200 repair would have turned into a $2,850 repair! Needless to say, I found a better labor rate , and more competent and professional work elsewhere.

Negative experience: ///Warning// the car service shop techs are not reliable at all!!!!! We brought the car for a specific issue; engine noise. We left the car for a day, the repair Invoice showed a routine maintenance performed such as fluid flush , steering pump replacement( that was the issue according to them) and break pads replacement all for $2200. picked up the car drove it next day and the noise was still there, it has become even worse. The steering wheel is even harder to maneuver. Came back next day , the guy at the desk said that they can do anything since the manager isn’t in the premises. We took the car to two different professional technicians for a diagnostic and both stated that the issue was related to timing belt. We came back two days after to talk to the manager and he did not even apologize but rather tried to shift the issue to something else. He accepted to check the car again. We left the car there fo now and we will see what happens.

Positive experience: Felt I got an honest diagnosis and subsequent repair. Also felt the price was within reason. I was a walk in and they pretty much took me in and this was Friday. Hour and a half to vacuate the refrigerant and they recharged. Decided to wait and used their wifi. Pretty decent connection.

Negative experience: Clutch went out on my Wrangler. They replaced with the wrong part. Had to have it towed back three times and they kept saying it was other stuff. Towed it to a different shop where they replaced the salve cylinder with the correct model and haven’t any any issues since. When I called AAA to discuss what the other shop was saying they brushed it off. Poor customer service and clearly doesn’t know how to work on a manual.

Fantastic experience: I needed help getting our van started at my home. The AAA Roadside Assistance technician came within an hour and started my car. He checked the quality of the battery and it was really old and would not keep a charge. He replaced with a new battery and told me I was entitled to a free battery through AAA each year under my membership plan. That made my day! He was very nice and extremely pleasant in carrying out his repair work. Thank you for solving my car problem the same day with such great service.

Negative experience: I brought my 87 f150 in for a new clutch. I dealt with Deborah. Deborah is very professional in how she handles herself and I would honestly hire her my own company. It didn’t matter how frustrated I was she kept her composure. However, I would never have my vehicle service by a AAA garage again. My clutch went out in November (I believe the 9th) and it was not complete until January 19th. My truck has a insulated floor cover that the tech completely tore apart. My window crank was broken. I had a gun rack behind my bench seat that was broken off. My truck is blue/green and while they were telling me they weren’t working on it because I had to use my time and money to order the parts off eBay I would drive by multiple times a week while working and they would have my truck in a work bay then tell me they haven’t touched it. When I am paying for them to do a service that is not cheap I shouldn’t be responsible for getting parts and paying for them. I charge $150/hr so when I’m running around trying to get the part they should have paid me for that time. My usual mechanic found some time to find me the part himself and thought I was joking when I explained that you want customers to find parts themselves. I had other people willing to do the work for half the price I paid but I thought it was better to go to a bigger company....next time I will wait for my mechanic to have time to do the work. Other mechanics I have talked to said that the mechanic there obviously didn’t know what he was doing. I was extremely disappointed and will never have work done at a AAA location again. Other than Deborah, I would be embarrassed for that to be my establishment. EDIT: It’s been 2 months since they responded and asked me to email management.....still waiting for a response from them....
