Negative experience: Came here for my last oil change, and they told me that I had a nail in my tire that needed to be replaced because they were unable to patch it due to the location of the nail. Took it somewhere else to get looked at and they were able to patch it with no problem. It’s been several months since then and I’ve had no issues. Would’ve just paid them to replace the tire at that point unnecessarily. Needed my oil changed again as well as transmission fluid flushed so decided to give them a second chance. Took it back today and they said it would be $100 more than what they quoted last time “because my car takes longer” even though they knew my exact model when they gave me the estimate. This was half the reason I went back there today, and it seems like all they care about is money. Very disappointed.

Negative experience: On 12/13/2023 I had an appointment at 11:30am for an oil change and tire rotation. I had a $69 coupon that included paying for both services excluding tax. After paying the bill, I realized there was an over charge of $8.50 for parts. When I asked about this charge Cory said they should not have charged the $8.5 and on my next visit they will credit my bill. I asked him to simply credit the $8.50 back to my credit card. I cannot trust a business that I believe overcharged the bill on purpose and then lied about refunding the amount twice. I didn't get the small $8.50 refund but they lost my future business and other business from friends and family I may tell when asked about the service of this AAA CAR CARE SHOP.

Negative experience: I had multiple items stolen out of my car while it was in their care. When I contacted them about it, the manager Greg initially told me there was nothing to do. After he called someone higher up, he told me he would reimburse me the estimated value of the items I gave him to the card I used to pay for the services on my car. Fantastic experience: Was having the WORST day having waited hours for a AAA person to come and sort out my car when it would not start. I ended up here after getting the car running after a jump. There was also a separate issue causing me concern and the rep here patiently chatted through it with me and they sorted both the battery and the other issue out on a late Saturday afternoon. Positive experience: EDIT: Upping my review to 3 stars. Corporate made it right by reimbursing me via check. I don't give many 1 star's. Took my car here for an oil change/tire rotation 9/15/2022. Noticed clunking and creaking noises a couple weeks later. Took it to another mechanic on 10/12/2022 because I thought it was suspension related and needed to go through them with Carmax's MaxCare. Turns out, the wheel studs were stripped and those had to be replaced. Cost me $227 for the diagnostic and the parts. I came back to AAA to ask whether or not AAA was willing to make it right. They were not. I am a AAA member of 5+ years. I am really disappointed. I will be filing a complaint to corporate and the BBB. Avoid this place.

Negative experience: I have used AAA in the past due to it convince to my house and for the reason I can walk home and not wait for the car while It’s in the shop. They usually can get you on the books quickly which is nice: however this experience was less then desirable. All of them working there are pleasant but I had to leave my car for some parts to come in and due to my work schedule was not able to pick up until after 7pm. I paid the bill online and gave instructions on where to leave my keys and when I showed up my keys were locked into the car. I messaged them and said I would Get a ride back in the morning to pick car up. I showed up at almost 9am And they simply said yes they are locked in the car not sure how that happened but might be a while because we have to call a tow company to unlock it. Kind of unsure why I was not called and why it wasn’t managed prior to me getting there but was cool and waited. They got it unlocked 30 mins later and was on my way when I reviewed the bill on the seat of my car and realized I was charged 120 Dollars for a service that was not performed. I went and in and they said they would take care of it. Again they are kind but not all with it. If I had not looked I would have paid for a service I did not have. So I guess I would say they are friendly but not really smart. I will unfortunately have to find another place to go. Even with the AAA discount there prices are high.

Negative experience: This is regarding the mechanics only, not any of the front desk reps. I had brake pads replaced after they were squeaking in my 2016 civic. After pickup, we noticed the new pads were also noisy. When I called, I was told that new pads squeak for a few days after installation. Six months later we experienced the same thing, so we went to take the car in for the noise. We were informed that the mechanics found that one of the calipers were frozen and bent, and they wanted roughly $700 for the replacement and labor. We were also was informed it was dangerous to drive anywhere from their repair shop. I was surprised to hear this, since we had been driving on it for 6 months. I wasn’t too sure about the mechanics diagnostics, so I took it to another shop for a second opinion. They said there was nothing wrong with the caliper, and AAA was full of it. I should note that AAA did replace the pads and rotors on the second trip, but was told that if I took the vehicle from AAA, I would void the warranty on the newly replaced pads and rotors. Beware of these scare tactics and deceptive diagnostics.

Fantastic experience: I was Looking for a reasonable priced synthetic oil change even though I am not a member of AAA. Their price of $59.99 for 5 quarts was extremely competitive and so I took my Mazda there. This price included a tire rotation , checking the air filter etc & all fees. I was able to make an appointment within 3 days and within 1 1/2 hours I was in and out. However once home I realized the service technician made a small mistake that required me to return the next day. Suzi the service account executive took me in right away and was apologetic and and helpful. The manager Bryant fixed the problem and discounted the cost of an additional part replacement. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable and hands on. I would definitely use them again.

Negative experience: I took my car here recently to get a 4 wheel alignment and tires installed and was initially quite pleased with the service. Shortly after and upon further inspection, I noticed that one of my new rims had been damaged. I brought it back over to them and they denied any wrongdoing. The rims were brand new and didn't have a scratch on them when I took the car in. I washed the car prior to dropping it off, and hand dried the entire vehicle as I always do, including the rims. The only way it could have been damaged this way was during install when the tire was off of the vehicle. I asked him if he could see any possible way that they could have been damaged otherwise, he couldn't answer my question. It would be like getting a gash on your head, wearing a helmet. Avoid AAA in Mount Pleasant. If you are left with no options, take pictures and show them to customer service when you drop off. It will save you valuable time and money.

Negative experience: I took my car to AAA car care based on a mailer I received which advertised a synthetic blend oil change for $34.99. I had used this location for the same oil change in December of 2019. This time, I was told they no longer carry the synthetic blend they needed to use. It was now going to cost $49.99 for a full synthetic oil. I asked why they advertised for a service they can not offer. One which they did offer 7 months ago. I was told they must use the Manufacturers specified oil and that they no longer have it. I believe this is classic bait and switch tactics. The blend they do carry is a very basic blend which very few if any cars are cleared to use by the manufacturers. Now, to make matters worse, I was told when I booked my appointment that a shuttle could take me home. The qualifier was that I lived within 5 miles of the service center. I live 2.5 miles away. After I came to the service center, I was told they no longer do shuttles because of Covid. I do understand that decision..... but why did they explicitly tell me it was available. Now, since I had not asked anyone to pick me up, I had to get Uber to take me home. An additional $10 expense. Grrrr. When I complained to the "person in charge" I was told she was not the manager and there was nothing she could do. Wow....What customer service courses do they use? The only reason I did not give them a one star is when I came to pick up the car, someone of some authority gave me a $5 discount for the confusion. It cost me $25 more than it should have and the dollars are not as important to me as the fact they mislead me and advertised a false deal. The manager even admitted they could do better in their communications and promotional brochures. I concur. Do better

Negative experience: Very poor customer service. I decided to give this location one last try, as every other time I have tried to come in for a simple oil change I have been faced with a slow office or broken down computer systems, but when I finally make it in, they tell me it’s going to take an hour for a simple oil change and tire rotation, something that takes every other car care facility 20 minutes to do. Also I asked if they would mind taking a look at some of the lights on my dash and they refused and talked down to me like a child. The staff needs to learn better customer service around the board.

Negative experience: I had car issues in Mt. Pleasant, SC late Friday and had AAA tow me to their center. I knew the issue was my starter and noted that on the slip for after hours drop service. They called me on Saturday and said they needed to do a diagnostic to see what the issue was and I again told them I needed the starter replaced. They insisted to do the service that was $99.00. Monday they called me to tell me my starter was bad. No joke?? And then proceeded to tell me it would cost over $800.00. Really?? I had it towed to Irvine’s where they did the starter for $400.00. Negative experience: First time going here, as a AAA Plus member for yrs, thought I would give them a try. Went in for an oil change, with an appointment. Took an hour and a half. And they charged almost double the member price they had quoted when I checked in, 60-70% higher. And made me feel like giving me the upcharge was routine and not a big deal. After complaining further about the surprise charge, which they admitted they could’ve predicted before they started from knowing the car model (which was also indicated days earlier on the online appointment request), I was only offered to do my next oil change at the rate they originally quoted. but that doesn’t correct the overcharge for today! Disappointing on many levels. Slow and misleading.

Negative experience: I wish I had read the reviews on here before going to AAA in Mt. Pleasant. I was in need of an oil change and knew Gerald’s requires an appointment. I figured being AAA they would be a trust worthy/reasonably priced option. I’m also a member. They were very nice during the whole process. I came at my requested time when I called ahead but did have to wait about 45 mins to an hour before someone came back with an update (which was fine). They had a nice waiting area. They told me they were almost finished but had a list of recommendations for me. One was to replace my sway bar which was not necessary. Gerald’s had checked it months prior. They said my brake fluid was green and very dangerous so I did ask them to go ahead and change it since I was already there. They go back out and 15 mins later (after they had said they were almost finished) someone else came out to tell me there’s an issue. The thread came out when they took out my oil pan. Now, I understand it is very possible Jiffy Lube did it last time I had my oil changed. It’s also very possible they did it considering they discovered it at the very end. Either way, I get these things happen. Where my issue lies is when I then drove straight to Gerald’s to confirm what they said and get the recommended new front tires. Gerald’s said it’s hard to tell what happened with the oil pan but that they charge $6 for the part to fix it. When I told them I was charged $105 to fix it (and that’s after my AAA discount) they were shocked. I then asked how much it is there to have my brake fluid changed and they said $59.95. I was charged $89 (regular price without discount $99). I do not doubt I needed these repairs but I do not trust the rest of their recommendations. I was way over charged. I will not be back and have already told friends in Mt. Pleasant to stick with well-trusted Gerald’s.

Negative experience: Unfortunately I've been burned by this location one to many times. This last time I wasn't going to let that happen. I had to take my Ford Ranger here for a battery replacement. This was a warranty replacement so I knew the battery would be covered. I get a call from AAA about noon time the next day telling me I needed a new alternator. WRONG! I took the truck to Advance Auto and they tested it prior to dropping it off at AAA. i knew without a doubt that it was the battery and nothing else. Then Brian the service manager tells me that they couldn't secure the battery because the bolt that secures the hold down wedge was rusted and they had to cut it off. He wanted to charge me $84 dollars just to replace a 3 inch bolt! I went right over to True Value Hardware and got one for $0.64 cents! These guys are absolute CROOKS! and your better off taking your vehicle to local garage owner. Check out local places such as Hudson's Import Service, Zips Car Care, Arnold's Automotive, Johnny's Automotive Excellence, Irvine's. ANYBODY BUT AAA.

Negative experience: Ford F150 battery died and towed to the AAA Auto Center, Mt. Pleasant. Received a call that the alternator went bad and caused the battery to be damaged, and further the oil was low, and old, and the fuel system needed cleaning and new tires were needed. There was a "special" running on the oil change. It so happens that had the oil changed in June and drove 698 miles, so declined the oil change and the fuel cleaning and tires. When I picked it up I asked about the oil and said I had it changed recently, and was told "you must be burning oil". I drove straingt to the Firestone Shop where I had the oil changed, and inspected before I bought the truck. The oil was at the correct level and the color of honey (not old). The tires had plenty of mileage left on them (Firestone sells tires!). The bottom line, let AAA tow your car but take it to the garage you use and trust.

Negative experience: I drove to Mount Pleasant AAA with my transmission seriously slipping. I believed that the fluid level was low and that there was a leak. AAA said that a full diagnostic would be required and I acquiesced. A few minutes later, the receptionist who filled out my ticket said that AAA's diagnostic equipment "could not communicate" with my 1995 Mercedes. I was surprised because the shop's website said that its services included transmission work and that Mercedes could be serviced. I asked if they could at least check my transmission fluid level and see if there was any evidence of a leak. The receptionist said OK. A few minutes later, the receptionist is back with the news that, if my car goes into the garage, I will be charged a full diagnostic fee--even though AAA has already informed me that it cannot perform a diagnostic. Moreover, if my fluid was low, they would NOT add fluid. Apparently, merely adding fluid is not a service AAA mechanics are willing to perform. I reiterated to the receptionist that my car was in serious need of attention and that I was a long-standing AAA member. He was very sympathetic but replied that his service manager was making these decisions. Unfortunately, all he could suggest is that I get back into my car and continue down Highway 17 looking for a transmission shop. Ultimately, I did find another garage and it took about ten minutes to confirm the low fluid level and the leak. Those problems are being addressed right now by a mechanic who is glad to have my business. It is unfortunate that this AAA garage, which no doubt relies upon the organization's reputation for honesty and service, instead treated me with rigidity and uncooperativeness.

Fantastic experience: I went in for passport photos and it was very quick and easy. I was there at 1:30 on a weekday and there was no wait. I was in and out in less than seven minutes. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: Never use this place for any reason. On 3 separate occasions, I have made an appointment to bring my car in. When I dropped it off, each time they said it would be about an hour. Each time, I came back two hours later and found that they had not even looked at the car yet. The worst part is that they just don't care . They just shrug their shoulders and say they were too busy. That's why I made an appointment! These people have no clue.

Negative experience: I really was hoping to leave a 5-star review but not to be. A year ago I took a car in to have an alignment and they sent me away because they said the alignment should only be done with new tires. They said I needed new tires but they tended to be more expensive so suggested I look elsewhere for tires. Fast forward to 12/26/17. I drove home from the airport and my serpentine belt went (I knew it went because my power steering went and after looking under the hood, I could see no serpentine belt). I had AAA tow my car to this service center. Even though I knew what the problem was, they insisted I pay a $99.95 diagnostic fee to make sure there weren't other problems. Once I got the call back, I was presented with $3,000 worth of problems. After declining them all, they replaced the serpentine belt. The normal cost for a serpentine belt replacement is $150-$250. This one was $400+. Why? The labor charge was reasonable. It was the markup on the parts. The belt and the tension assembly could have been had at a parts store for $150. They instead charged me close to $300. Stay away, I know I will. And I'll cancel my membership because of it.

Fantastic experience: I REALLY recommend this place. Bryan and Lauren will greet you with a smile and friendly service. The waiting area is comfortable and there's even a place for the lil ones to rump around. Fast service. Great job guy. Thanks !
