Fantastic experience: As a beginner commercial diver, this is the perfect one-stop-shop! From wetsuits and drysuits of different thicknesses, new and used items like dive suits and air bottles, and jamming bottles, this place has it all. Charles was of great help, and I’ll certainly be coming back for more advanced gear.

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience with the team, as a person who has a undetermined work schedule, they did their absolute best to get me certified and finish in time with my class, I really enjoy working and learning alongside them, I am really grateful to Donavan for his cheerful and can do attitude and Robert for teaching me skills and ways to make diving more enjoyable, couldn’t have done it with out them, they are the reason for my success! Positive experience: Did my Open Water certification with OE and all the instructors were amazing and super thorough. On our ocean dives, the surf was REALLY high and took away a bit from the experience because it made me so nervous, somewhat wish we were able to reschedule but also happy we knocked it out in a weekend. Will be booking/renting/buying through OE in the future!

Negative experience: **See Attached Picture for Owners Response - Blames me for not learning even though I followed instructor 100% regards to weighting, but no final weight at end of class as stated along with other skills skipped over. After my Diving Review I am still not weighted properly. *See Photo The instructor said that was the one of the most important skills that gets dialed in which is the reason I arrived with 95% of my own gear. The Instructor was more concerned about dropping hints for the tourist divers to get their AOW which he did the entire class and as the time went on his stories became a little far fetched. I was basically ignored for the most part after I stated I was going to an international location for my AOW in December 2024. Little did he know that I want my wreck diving certification afterwards, one of his specialties and my aim in Scuba. That being said, as obvious as it was he was chumming for business it was equally as obvious he has mastered Scuba Diving and with the proper intentions I would have received a top notch instructional review and then went on to my Wreck Diving Certification with him. Pay to Play? But I did that? Ah, no more upside so discard... All in All, his demeanor was also in line with my final impression of Ocean Enterprises, so none of his words, actions or lack there of has truly surprised me. When returning my 3 rental items my final thought was, "That God my relationship with Ocean Enterprises has ended". From the 1st day I walked in through this business's door a Gay man was hitting on me and after my 2nd time there he figured out I wasn't gay and there was no 10% discount this time and I was met with that "rejection attitude" you get from, in my experience, with females when you deny them. This is nothing new for me, it's kind of flattering, but definitely not professional. Sales technique they use here is the classic: Isolate, Box and Close. There is a lot more to mention, not positive about my in store sales interactions. They are all about selling whatever product with the highest profit margin and that's where they steer you. I don't even want to talk about the used tank scenario which I ended up getting refunded and afterwards how they were insistent to get their hands on my brand new Atomic regulator (not purchased from them) to "Help Me" which I had to refuse so many times. I was actual told, "I'm surprised you knew to buy a DIN regulator". That was the next day after he sold me a DIN Valve used tank - he literally had no idea if I had the equipment for the tank - he just wanted to sell the tank with valve that wasn't operable but had a VIS sticker! Thank God I tested the tank at home before Diving, that could have been death in the worst case! This my experience. I wasn't a client of value for whatever reason they deemed. That's why I gave them the "Columbo" so they think I am dumb, it worked and showed their true nature. Again, these are a summary of all my experiences and maybe yours is/are completely different. ** Attached is a photo of my dive following my review, the plan was to stay at 40ft and below but once I tried to level out I kept fighting tying to stay down and eventually shot up like a rocket - all which is evident when you look at the dive log up close. Thanks Mr. Instructor for your help at making my dive safe. I basically threw away time and money, risked my life as if I didn't have a review. ***Gary I saw the picture you drew depicting me to hold the exchange tank that OE knew had no valve in stock for, how insulting & degrading; for the entire staff to see the way you drew me.

Fantastic experience: My kids and I completed the PADI open water diver course through Ocean Enterprises. Professional from day one from the shop staff to the rental shop and our awesome instructors (Emily & Katie). We can’t wait to explore the ocean around San Diego and the world.

Fantastic experience: Great customer service!!! Got fitted for my gear today for the open diver certification also purchased my face mask and snorkel.

Negative experience: The shop itself and shop/rental/repair staff are incredible and so so nice and helpful. But after 2/2 bad experiences with PADI classes, including one where I wasn't allowed to dive even though I went out every weekend. It's killed my budding love of diving and now I would still have to do the class here AND pay a fee. Really disappointed and haven't dove since :(

Fantastic experience: Ocean Enterprises is the only choice for diving in SD. The entire staff loves what they do and are all happy to help any way they can. I did basic open water and because of the wonderful experience, I'm signing up for advanced open water and hopefully more classes in the future! Jay was an ideal instructor who was able to get me comfortable in the water performing all of the necessary skills and now I can't get enough. If you're on the fence, give Ocean Enterprises a try and you won't be disappointed!

Not only do I purchase my equipment here, but I also rely on their expertise to inform me about the optimal gear for the specific areas where I dive. Additionally, I have taken several classes with them to develop my skills, knowing that in the future I might not have this additional support while traveling to other sites. Eddie has been my instructor for several classes, and he has been amazing. He demonstrates great patience with my mistakes and provides valuable feedback. Eddie has the ability to educate on potential issues that could arise if certain habits are not modified while underwater. I am sure that OE has top notch instructors that value safety over everything else.

They offer a very wide selection of PADI certification and training including many specialties. I had been away from diving for several years and OE helped me update and upgrade my gear to get me ready for my PADI Reactivate class. The instructors are professional, down-to-earth, enthusiastic and flexible. No surprise they have been the go-to So Cal scuba diving resource for more than 40 years. I just completed my Dive Master training with OE and my son earned his Open Water Certification a few weeks ago allowing us to make our first father and son dive together at La Jolla Shores. Where to buy quality gear, versus where you could get away with something cheaper. Very good customer experience! Fantastic experience: Came in to get a wetsuit, hooded vest, and gloves for some colder water diving. Mike was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and patient, walking me through my options and how things should fit. Will definitely come back when I decide to get a BC and regulator!

We were coming in from out of town to get my son his open water dives and they made everything run smoothly. The instructor Brian was so kind and patient with my son. Fantastic experience: I took a four day course with instructors Ray and Kym! PADI Open Water. It was an amazing experience. I have snorkel experience and was nervous about going to SCUBA but they were professionals. Clear on expectations and really knew what they were doing. I felt completely safe and well trained at the end of it all. Kym was seriously the bast at coaching you through difficult situations and Ray did an exceptional job with everything. Beyond incredible human being. There was one point I got nervous underwater and thought about quitting but Kym assured me once I got back to swimming underwater I could do it and I did. I don't think I could have made it through the course without her. I wish I could have afforded to tipped them more. Highly recommend. Their store is awesome too. They really care about the community they serve 10/10 would recommend.

Fantastic experience: I am a student in college and this was my place I chose to learn how to scuba dive and this place was great! Super friendly staff, great instructors that work with you through every step of the process regardless of your abilities? There is literally no better place to learn as someone who is just learning first hand how to scuba dive. As a student, I had a pretty demanding schedule with a part time job and other classes. However, the amount of communication you have with your instructor and shop is easy and simple. I am very satisfied with my experience with Ocean Enterprises.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience getting certified for open water scuba diving at Ocean Enterprises. My instructor Mitchell, dive master Jake and DM in training Joe were all amazing at teaching us the technical skills we need to be safe, while making the experience very fun, low stress and all around enjoyable. As someone with 15+ years of teaching experience in higher education, I was truly impressed with their skills at teaching (not just being excellent divers). All of the employees in the retail shop were also great - super friendly, approachable and knowledgeable about equipment/gear. Prices were very reasonable and they will even price match. I’m really looking forward to continuing my diving education by taking more classes through OE and going on dive trips through the shop.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I came in on a Thursday late afternoon so the shop wasn't busy. We were able to get immediate help with finding masks. The staff was super helpful and friendly. We tried on several masks and were both able to find great fitting masks. They had a great selection of quality brands to choose from. Will definitely shop there in the future for any snorkel/dive equipment.

Fantastic experience: I took the Open Water certification class and had an amazing time. It ended up being a smaller group for the ocean dives and my instructors (Kym and Rob) did a great job of of balancing making the class extremely fun while also being a true learning experience beyond just the required curriculum. I will definitely be returning for my advanced cert.

Personable but professional, the instruction left me confident of my newly acquired abilities but respectful of the inherent dangers of being over-confident. Safety was first and foremost and I always felt the at least one person on the team was checking on me personally throughout (along with the same for each & every other student). Great experience and highly recommended to get beginner or advanced skills training.

Positive experience: Overall, had a great experience at Ocean Enterprises! I signed up for their Open Water course and did the training and ocean dives all in 1 week. All the instructors (Jessica, Jake, Chelsea, Steve, and several others) were super chill and friendly which really made my scuba diving experience that much more enjoyable. The instructors were very informative about scuba diving knowledge and always made sure we were well prepared for our dives by double checking our equipment and understanding of procedures. 4 stars because the pricing got very steep with additional charges for equipment, log books, etc. which I wish I had known about earlier on. Also, unfortunately the designated dive site of La Jolla Shores was not as vivid as I hoped for. Still had a great time getting scuba certified with Ocean Enterprises and will be diving more in the future!

Fantastic experience: I first went to the shop right before it was closing to pick out some gear for my Open Water Cert class. I was super hesitant and worried about even showing up for the class but the staff was super thorough and helpful explaining how each snorkel and mask were different, having me try on multiple fins and booties and asking me how I was feeling. I left excited and feeling much more at ease going into my first class. Every step of the way, the staff at the shop I worked with, my instructor Ryan & Dive Master Pedro were all amazing, very knowledgeable, patient and kind. I felt taken care of and like they were my friends each time I saw them. I highly recommend Ocean Enterprises for your certifications!

Fantastic experience: I was nervous to get my PADI open water cert, but everyone at Ocean Enterprises made it such a fun and great experience. My dive instructor, Mark, and dive master, Eddie, were fantastic. All the staff who helped organize the course and assign rental gear were helpful and knowledgable as well. Even if you're looking for gear, they have a great selection. I know many people who get their gear there and they speak highly of the quality, selection, and customer service. Fantastic experience: I have had great experiences with Ocean Enterprises. My son and I took scuba diving lessons with them and became fully certified as open water divers We had excellent training both on the class room, at the pool and at La Jolla Shores State Beach where we dived into the Pacific Ocean. Our initial experience purchasing necessary equipment was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rental department staff was also friendly and helpful. The training staff was amazingly good. As you begin this process it is a bit scary but we felt assured and safe at every stage of the process.

Fantastic experience: I just finished my open water Padi class a couple of hours ago. My experience with the Ocean Enterprise Dive team was great and everyone in the store and dive site was super helpful. Trevor, our instructor, is absolutely the best. Even though I didn't feel comfortable under the water on the first dive, he answered all of my questions and concerns. By the 4th dive, I didn't want to leave the water and felt extremely comfortable under the water.

Positive experience: Jacob very helpful with great answers. Staff seems to have a no mask policy which is just not good.

Fantastic experience: I give Ocean Enterprises 5 stars because they did a great job of making me and my class feel confident in the ocean! The instructors were fantastic and did a great job of making everyone feel comfortable. Whether it was going over a skill multiple times until everyone got it down, providing help with gear, or just simply cracking a joke to ease everyone's nerves, the instructors were amazing. During the ocean dives they were super supportive and would also point out every little ocean animal. Safety was also their main concern and if anyone felt tired or unwell they would make sure to take care of them. I would highly recommend Ocean Enterprises to anyone looking to get their scuba certification. No matter if you have tons of experience in the ocean or no experience at all, they will take care of you.

Fantastic experience: I was apprehensive about the open water certification class initially; the ocean spooks me and I just wasn't the most comfortable in the water. I signed up to not only learn a new skill to have with me in life, but I wanted to become more confident in my capabilities. Kym and Travis are hands down amazing. They made me feel SO comfortable and confident in the pool, in the ocean, and with all the scuba gear. They made sure I really understood every skill before moving forward, and always gave me helpful pointers. I literally trust these two with my life. Fantastic experience: My fiancée and I took the Weekend Open Water dive course with #OceanEnterprises and had a great time. Our scuba instructor, Kym, was fantastic and took care of us and everyone else in the class. She and her divemaster, Allie, kept a close eye on everyone, learned each student's individual needs during the course and helped us out directly. If we wanted to try out other styles of goggles, they'd pull some out of their stash for us to try on. If we were cold one day in the water, they'd show up the next day with an additional base layer for us to wear. It was so reassuring to have instructors who were so attentive to us as we learned how to be safe and have a fun time in the water while diving. The dive shop at #OceanEnterprises was equally awesome and helped us pick out the right gear we needed for the class. The wetsuit, tanks, buoyancy control device (BCD), and regulators/SPG/computer can be rented, but we had to bring our own mask, snorkel, fins, gloves. The shop staff were super friendly and explained how everything should fit, and what the pros and cons to different styles of gear were. The rental shop at #OceanEnterprises was also great and helped us get fitted properly in our rental gear so we were all set to get into the water. Looking forward to the next class we can take! Fantastic experience: Took the open water certification class though Ocean Enterprise with my fiancé back in September and it was such a great experience. Everyone at the dive shop was super helpful getting me fit for the perfect gear and Kym and Allie were amazing instructors going above and beyond what I would have ever expected.  Can't wait to take my next scuba class with Ocean Enterprise!

Fantastic experience: I was equal parts anxious and excited to try scuba. I couldn't be more happy I chose OE. Everyone was super knowledgeable and kind. While they take scuba serious, as they should, they make sure to make it fun as well. I have found my dive shop moving forward!

Fantastic experience: Had an absolutely fantastic experience getting scuba certified at Ocean Enterprises. My instructor, Kym, was excellent and fully prepared me for getting out there to dive.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service throughout. The instructors and divemasters are very patient and thorough. The service and rental staff carefully made sure we understood everything and were prepared. And the sales staff is very patient, answering all my questions in detail.

Positive experience: For everyone looking to do Open Water Diver, here are the prices: ~$225 for the course (includes the main scuba rental items) ~$180 for the PADI e-learning (cannot be shared with anyone else) ~$50 for the guidebook, dive log, etc. And you need to have fins (~$100), snorkel (~$40), mask (~$50), booties (~$50), and gloves (~$30), which can be rented ($40 per day?) or purchased (prices above). Total is roughly $750. Would be nice if this were quoted on the site. Another thing you aren't made aware of on the course sign-up: you will have to drop off/pick up your air tanks from the store. You borrow two at a time and need one tank for every dive. This meant that for a course I took, I needed to visit the store 5 times for pick up/drop off of air/equipment. (We had four pool dives, 4 ocean dives. And actually we had to go an extra time, but that was unexpected.) A lot of extra driving and time I wasn't expecting, when the course is already quite demanding! All the pool dives were completed within 2 or 3 hours, never 4 as quoted. We rarely went below 2000 psi on our tanks (though ymmv). Felt like those skill learnings could've been condensed into 2 or 3 days. The orientation was OK, but felt more like a sales event for the "snorkeling" gear. I definitely felt pressured to buy and the orientation part did not feel meaningful--could have been accomplished online or on the night of the first pool dive. The people in the rental department were pretty cool - I liked their calendar with random "holidays" - yoga day, rocky road day, etc. Then there were the vagaries of the particular course I took, which I don't feel like getting into. Suffice to say, I'm getting my advanced cert at another shop in the area. It wasn't the worst experience, but wasn't great either. I did get stoked to keep diving! But for how much money you're spending, it'd be nice to receive a consistently positive quality of service.
