Fantastic experience: Cozy comfy and spacious cabins. Older but very clean. The hot tub is a nice bonus as is having a nice little grocery store next door. We will be back!

Fantastic experience: These cabins were the perfect getaway for my friend and me. She lives in Denver, and we were looking for a cozy winter retreat in the mountains, and this place truly delivered. The cabins felt like home from the moment we arrived. We also had a great experience with Gail, who was incredibly attentive and made sure all our needs were met—it's clear she truly cares about making guests' stays memorable. The cabins are spotless and well-maintained, and the surrounding town is absolutely charming. I would highly recommend these cabins to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable mountain escape.

Negative experience: These rustic cabins are modest and the located right outside the Rocky Mountain NP but our stay was very unpleasant to put it mildly. We were a family of four adults and our cabin was called 'The Trout'. There was one queen bed and two sofa beds and so we needed to use them all but one of the sofa beds had stains of bodily fluids on its mattress and sheet. The other one looked so shabby as if it was not cleaned in years and the queen bed had an unpleasant smell. The landlady changed the stained sheet and rejected our request to change the stained mattress!! We'd have packed and left but my aged parents were with us and we were exhausted after a long day in the park and it was past 8 pm when we noticed the problem. Other things - bathroom is very tight. Property photos are a bit deceptive. Clothes hooks come crashing down as soon as you hang some clothes on them. You got to take the trash out to the dumpster, no dishwasher but you got to wash all the dishes, and put them back where they came from or incur a $45 cleaning charge but were all these rules/requirements disclosed before the booking was made? Absolutely not. Anyway, I requested a refund afterward but not only it was rejected but the landlady insisted everything was clean. Not even an honest apology!! I wouldn't recommend this place at all and would suggest looking elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Found this spot for a quick overnight stay while traveling through the area. They have individual cabins available for rent that provide privacy and tranquility while sharing a lounge area in the center of the lot & a hot tub. Gayle was there to greet us and led us into our cabin with ample instructions and offered help as needed. This was a perfect spot near the lake with many amenities in walking distance nearby.

Fantastic experience: We had a great time at the cabin! Gayle was super friendly and helpful, the cabin was very clean and cute, and we enjoyed the hot tub! I wish we could’ve stayed longer, definitely recommend.

Positive experience: We stayed three nights. It’s nice that there was a kitchen and a hot tub. Gayle, who I think owns the place, was helpful whenever we needed something, like ice trays or recommendations about the area. The rooms were clean, but in our cabin at least, the kitchen was oddly laid out and one of the doors needed repair. I enjoyed the rustic feel and how close we were to Rocky Mountain National Park though, and the price was fair for the area.

Fantastic experience: We have stayed at Columbine Cabins several times and have never been disappointed. Gayle and Richard McCoy have created a warm, friendly environment in Grand Lake, CO. Fantastic experience: Gayle is so kind and helpful. She has created very comfortable spaces in her cabins, with decorations in keeping with the area. The hot tub is very clean and maintained well. Gayle makes herself very available to the needs of her renters. Her cabins are a few updates away from perfection. Its clear that she has her renter’s best interest in mind. If there is anything I need, she does what she can to make it happen. What’s more, her kind heart shines through. I can’t say enough in support of Gayle, and the Columbine Cabins! Do yourself a favor and rent a cabin, enjoy what Gand Lake has to experience, and take a hike or two. I believe you’ll come out with a wonderful experience.

Fantastic experience: These are rustic cabins — do not expect the Hilton - it is a very different, simple experience! But boy were we happy to see such a well-equipped, well appointed cottage! Anything you could possibly need in a kitchen was there, every possible utensil, pot and pan! Clean and simple, and a great location within walking distance to Grand Lake’s boardwalk downtown! Loved our three days, wish we could have stayed longer!

Positive experience: A fun, friendly place within walking distance to the shops and restaurants if you're willing to trek just a tiny bit! Rooms are cozy with fun mountain decor and themes. Owners are on site and very nice and accommodating. The market is next door, which is convenient. The road in front is a bit busy. The firepit was nice and there is a nice hot tub that is away from the road and well maintained. Definitely a good value and comfortable!

Fantastic experience: Stayed here during the 3 Lakes Ice Fishing Tournament. We had everything we needed and more to be comfortable. The cabins were warm and clean. We even enjoyed the hot tub. We will definitely be staying here again!

Fantastic experience: Columbine cabins are a really cute place to stay when you're in Grand lake! The cabin is a one-bedroom rustic kind of cabin however there are the sleeper sofas that are good for if you're traveling with family or others. There is a hot tub a quaint little courtyard and there's just so much to do in the town of Grand Lake! If you get the opportunity to vacay to Grand Lake, and you have more a taste for a rustic setting as opposed to the modern scene, these cabins are definitely worth checking out. And the owners are just adorable! Gayle is so sweet and so helpful!

Fantastic experience: Had a really nice stay here while visting Grand Lake. Cozy, quiet, and centrally located. We were plesantly surprised that the kitchen was so well stocked with plates, cups, utensils, baking and cooking ware, full-size fridge, toaster, microwave, oven, stove, coffee maker, and more. The owners are such kind and sweet people who go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Would highly recommend Columbine Cabins!

Positive experience: The cabins are quite tired in places and in need of updating. The door handle lock on the back door of our cabin was broken, so there was only a very small sliding indoor bolt lock which did not make us feel particularly secure, and we did not feel comfortable leaving anything of value in there. The cabins back on to a sketchy looking area and we did not feel very safe there, given the lock issue. We stayed in other places on our trip for a similar price which felt a lot nicer.

Negative experience: If you enjoy being micromanaged then, you might enjoy your stay. Upon check-in a homeless woman; or a special agent according to her, it's hard to tell if she was on assignment (sarcasm) was demanding to use the phone in the middle of my check-in. It goes downhill from here. The area behind the cabins is an unsightly low income area for whom some residents prefer full strength yelling as their default form of communication (when not practicing wheelies on unmuffled motobikes). But the worst part of this place is the owner who clearly has difficulty letting go. She's like an overbearing AirB&B home owner who's list of house rules are so long and comprehensive that they require a 30 page manual. Every move you make will require her intervention. Where to park? Be prepared to move your vehicle at least 4 times. Have dogs? Must be crated if leave them in the cabin. Have the upstairs suite rented? No more then 4 dogs at any time allowed. Want to open a window for fresh air? Nailed shut. Charge your phone while in bed? No outlets. Wifi? Good luck. Want to check out? Be prepared to sweep, take the trash out, strip the beds and leave it cleaner then you found it or get charged a cleaning fee. The cabins are run down, the parking is limited, and the hospitality is substandard. Her inexperience as an innkeeper shows through from check in to check out and everywhere in between.

Fantastic experience: The lady running the place was ultra sweet and the cabin was cute. The couch beds weren't terribly comfortable but we just had kids on them, so they can deal with it lol

Fantastic experience: Gayle and Kirk have a beautiful place right in the beginning of town. It feels like home and they made it a wonderful time for my family of 6. Thank you so much for being apart of our wonderful memories of this gorgeous place. They let you check out board games and my kids played countless games. If you get the chance, play the game trekking... It's amazing just like our time here.

Positive experience: Great place for a reasonable price. Everything we needed was available, including coffee. The location was ideal and quiet. We just needed a comfortable place to sleep while we spent our days in the Rocky Mountain National Park and this was ideal. It could use some updates - larger television, new stove, updated furniture, but there is really nothing to complain about there.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved the new owners! Gayle is so sweet and kind. The rooms are very cute we stayed in the racoons cabin. Everything was very clean and ready for our stay. Our cabin was stocked with kitchen stuff so we could make meals which was awesome! They even keep coffee in the fridge for people who need it to start their day. I would def reccomend to anyone who is going to be in the area. Very professional but so sweet that you would think they were lost family.

Negative experience: VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!!! This place was very in need of updates. it was not very clean, the beds were OLD... it was freezing cold when we arrived and had space heaters for the bedroom and NO heater in the bathroom. Even though it was supposed to be non-smoking... there was a smell in the place that was not pleasant. My husband uses a CPAP machine to sleep and there were no outlets in the bedroom at all. We ended up NOT staying and went to a hotel. I contacted the manager in the morning and told her our issue and that we would not be staying the 3 nights and to go ahead and charge us for the one........We were charged for a 3 night stay anyway... plus the cost of the hotel we moved to. I DO NOT RECCOMEND!!!!!!

Positive experience: Quaint cabins, a little outdated though. Cute and each cabin had it's own theme. A good place to stay close to Estes Park. Caretaker was a very nice lady. We even made s'mores at their barbecue pit. I believe there's a community hot tub too, but we didn't check it out.

Fantastic experience: What a gem this place is!! We were welcomed to Columbine Cabins by a fresh coat of snow and the sweetest people you'll ever meet. We walked into our own little cabin with the fire going and immediately felt at home! Just the sort of place that makes you want to curl up with some tea and a book. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Fantastic experience: We are here during the holidays and Columbine Cabins are perfect. The cabins are clean and well outfitted. The firepit makes for a great sense of community among the all the guests. The cabins are right next to a grocery store, on the edge of downtown Grand Lake. Very convenient!

Fantastic experience: This is a great place to stay. We had a large group so we stayed in their biggest lodge. I think it could sleep up to 10 easily with the pull out couches. It was also dog friendly which was a huge plus. The owners live onsite but were not imposing at all. Highly recommend staying here!!

Fantastic experience: Our family rented the large cabin and two cabins for the weekend for my wedding at the AAbarn. The cabins were perfect and so accommodating. We enjoyed the fireplace and how convenient the location was. We played beer pong on the deck and gave my family an amazing experience. We are locals and this is the best cabins I’ve seen in grand lake. Highly recommend. We all said we should stay there once every year.

Fantastic experience: I recently stayed at Columbine Cabins in Grand Lake for my Birthday Weekend. When making my reservation for the cabin, Gail the owner, made booking my reservation so easy and me so excited to stay at their property! The property was beautiful and rustic. The cabins were recently renovated with new floors, furniture and TV. The cabin was also pet friendly which made traveling a little bit easier! With the cabins being pet friendly, the cabins were so clean, you couldn't tell pets were even allowed. The cabin accommodations made it easy to move around with a family of 5 with pets. We enjoyed the scenery while making breakfast in the kitchen and enjoying s'mores near the firepit. We also enjoyed the hot tub and how clean everything was! Thank you Gail and Columbine Cabins for a great birthday weekend! I recommend this to familes who want to enjoy a great getaway in Grand Lake!

Fantastic experience: Quiet, Cozy and beautiful! A perfect place to enjoy the peaceful outdoors. There are amazing views and hikes everywhere around the cabins. Grand Lake is only 3 blocks away from our front door and its a wonderful walk through town. Gayle and Kirk recently took over the cabins and have been hard at work ever since. We stayed in the Bear and we're not disappointed in any way. They were amazing hosts and excellent direction givers. The cabins have gorgeous new hardwood floors, comfy beds and full kitchens. They're even pet friendly(which is so hard to find anymore). Our dogs loved the park just across the street and watching all the chip munks run around and play. Im not into the idea of room service and sharing a wall with 10 other people so getting our own little mountain get away was perfect for us! We will not be staying anywhere else on our trips up to Grand Lake. Good job guys you scored guests for life! Thank you again so much!

Fantastic experience: I love this place. Beautiful setting. New owners are friendly. You can bring your own food as they have kitchen with fridge and stove. Comes equipped with dishes, coffee pot, toaster and a few pans. Communal fire pit, barbecues and a hot tub. Town and Grand Lake are within walking distance. A great place for a family getaway.

Negative experience: Very dirty, everything from the kitchen appliances to the clean dishes (re-washed some before using), walls in bathroom (hair, dirt, etc.), carpets visibly stained and didn’t feel as though they were vacuumed well. The mattress was very worn and uncomfortable. Will not be staying here again.

Positive experience: Cute cabins, with kitchens, in a very cute town. A little pricey for what it is, cabin that we were in only had one bed and then there were pullout sofas which weren't too comfy, but all in all good place to stay.
