Fantastic experience: I had such an awesome experience getting my scuba certification at Dive World Austin! From booking my class to wrapping up my certification, the staff was fantastic. George helped me pick out the gear I needed for the class and even assisted with cleaning my rented gear when I returned it—super helpful! My instructor Dan and Dive Master Stefanie were amazing. Dan was so patient and kind. I struggled with one of the skills, but he gave me tips and helped me figure out where I was getting stuck. He even arranged extra pool time for me to practice before heading to the lake, which made all the difference. Dan was incredibly supportive and genuinely cared about helping me succeed. Stefanie brought along some extra gear for me to use that fit perfectly and kept me warm during the lake dives (huge bonus!). I couldn’t have asked for a better team to guide me through this process. If you're thinking about learning to dive, I highly recommend Dive World Austin. They truly go above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable and confident every step of the way!

Fantastic experience: I received my open water dive certification at Dive World Austin. This is a fabulous group of people! Seth, Christy, and all the others were so helpful, encouraging, and just the absolute best! I live near Corpus Christi, but was unable to find a class open this time of year so just by chance, I found Dive World Austin and I’m so glad I did. I could not recommend them enough.

The owners of the shop are very knowledgeable, kind, and patient. They walked us through the process, got us properly fitted for gear, and ready to go for open water dives! Our dive instructor Kyle was great, as was Dive Master Stephanie. Kyle was so patient and really walked us through step-by-step. He shared great insider information, and was so enthusiastic. Fantastic experience: Just completed my open water dive certification at Dive World Austin. I must say I had a great experience and I am very happy I selected Dive World Austin for this course. Our two instructors Karen and Christy were very skilled and knowledgeable. We went from zero experience to feeling very competent and confident after completing training. We had additional teachers with Andy and Jason joining us on certain days. At times we had 3 instructors to a class of 4, which meant everyone got a lot of attention and instruction. In addition to the course Dive World Austin supplied Chilis, beers and sodas on the final day after we completed the course. This was not neccesarry but very welcome and shows how Dive World Austin does extra to provide a great experience to their students. Thank you to the rest of the Dive World staff for being so friendly and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Matt Jacobs was an Awesome instructor! I am a 66 year old woman with Neuropathy in my feet. I am a very good swimmer. I guess that helped... Matt and Jason took my gear down the treacherous path to Lake Travis because the lake is So low... He was extremely helpful and kind! He has been diving since 1982 and is Very knowledgeable! I appreciate the folks at Dive World Austin for helping me accomplish a dream!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I just finished our Open Water. We are blown away by this operation. Our Dive instructor Kyle was phenomenal as was our dive master Stefanie. Now we are purchasing our gear there too. The staff is kind and patient and helpful and knowledgeable. You can tell how much they love this and how much they want us to succeed. Fantastic experience: Our boys got their open water certification at Dive World Austin! I can not recommend them enough! Stephanie and Angie were AMAZING instructors for my youngest child (12) and were patient and encouraging. They also recommended other dive sites around Austin and Texas that we can do as family to keep our skills up. Fantastic experience: Had an overall great experience with Dive World Austin. It is obvious that the owners are passionate about scuba and helping others enjoy it too. They were willing to go above and beyond to help their students. Carl is a wonderful pro instructor. He was patient, skilled, knowledgeable, and helped me through some ear issues I was having. Negative experience: Drove up from Houston to take the boat out for a few dives. Figured I would stop by the shop to get a few cylinders viz inspected and look at new gear. Was told it would be a week wait for viz so I asked for rental tanks and was told "no" since we did not have our cert cards (left at home since typically only the DL is requested). I then asked for replacement battery for the transmitter, they did not have it. Asked about reg rebuild timeframe and was told a 2-3 months wait time. We left the shop. Had a guy come out to the lake and had the cylinders inspected and transmitter battery replaced not even 10 minutes later. Now thats service!

Fantastic experience: My family and I just completed our PADI certification with Dive World Austin. Overall I found the program very comprehensive, detailed and at the same time inviting and attentive. Seth our trainer led my family, two adults plus my 18 year old daughter and 15 year old son through the 4 day training and certification. With the size of our family we had lots of scheduling complications - Seth worked through all of them. His team also made sure we had properly fitting gear before we got started and helped us navigate the required PADI e-learning program. The training starts at their onsite heated pool which is super convenient. The pool was at a comfortable 87 degrees which makes spending several hours in a pool easy. They begin with basic training skills and then build upon there to more complex skills, each skill building upon the other. After that they took us to open water training, initially Spring Lake and then Lake Travis. At the end of the process they recognize your achievement with a mini celebration - which you can tell meant as much to them as it did to our family. Overall they created a very warm, positive atmosphere conducive to learning and confidence building. I previously went through PADI training at another school (in a different state) which i cut short because they rushed through the skills. Seth was the exact opposite. They want to make sure you demonstrated the skill until you proceed to the next level. Never once did we feel rushed or uncomfortable. If it took us multiple tries to get the skill right that was ok. If i had to do it all over again I would choose Dive World Austin again and suggest anyone getting PADI certified do the same.

Fantastic experience: We are incredibly grateful to our dive instructor Kyle and dive master Christy for their exceptional commitment, patience, and support throughout our open water certification. Their expertise and encouragement were key in helping us finally complete our certification in Austin after two years since we first attempted it while traveling in Thailand. Kyle's experience as a boy/girl scout leader and lifetime diver showed thorough his friendly, humorous and reassuring instruction in the pool and at the lake as he answered each of our many questions. Christy's confidence-building and vigilance to make sure we always felt safe even in low visibility, made all the difference. Highly recommend their services to anyone looking to learn diving in a safe and enjoyable environment! DWA in general is a great team. They’ll have your back and even make sure you get an extra fin to dive with if you find yourself missing one at the last minute!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely life changing experience. I went into my Open Water Certification classes with no knowledge of SCUBA, and I finished with a new life hobby! The team at DWA are first class, and so friendly! I was very glad to have Kyle as my Instructor, and his lessons are so informative and reinforce safe diving to a T. I can not wait to take more lessons with this dive shop, and I would HIGHLY recommend anyone to give a lesson or discover dive a shot! This is the place!

Fantastic experience: 10/10 Would get my Certificate here again. I like to think I got incredibly lucky with my Instructor Karina, she couldn't have done anything any better. She is not only very good at teaching, she is just as good at walking you through the mental game that is, scuba diving. I had many moments being uncomfortable under water and yet still, Katrina talked me through it on land and we got it done underwater. I couldn't recommend her enough, and Dive World Austin Is definitely the place to get your PADI Certificate.

Fantastic experience: I recently had the pleasure of getting PADI Open Water certification through Dive World Austin. Everyone was exceptionally helpful throughout all stages from the beginning answering questions on how to access the online aspect of the course all the way through returning the rental gear at the end of the last dive. Seth was insightfully informative about the options available and fitting for gear, which allowed me to get best suited as well as excited to get into the water. Carl and Dan who had led the closed water and open water dives were great. Carl’s calmness and expertise quickly established the kind of trust one should have in their instructor. Dan encouraged the development of good habits early on that I very much appreciated as I felt it lead to successful drills and a building of confidence. It’s evident that everyone at Dive World has a passion for what they do. Thank you to the entire team here for an incredibly rewarding experience!

Fantastic experience: I was really scared of doing the open water certificate but honestly I felt really safe and at comfortable inside the water. I had Richie, Stephanie and Kyle teach me as my instructors and they’re the absolute best - if you can pls try to get them as your instructor. Really patient and really good at scuba. Fantastic experience: My son and I completed our ReActivate course last night. Lisa was a great instructor. She did a thorough job taking us through the essential skills with patience and concern – and she made it fun and built our confidence. She added her personal insight and her suggestions for extra safe diving. We originally took our first certification class here 15 years ago when my son was 10. Dive World has continued to take care of all of our needs - for two, not so frequent scuba divers. I appreciated the extra attention when I came back to the store today to make purchases for updated gear.

Fantastic experience: I signed up for my open water certification with Dive World Austin and they made it an amazing experience. As someone new to diving, I can't say enough great things about Dive World Austin. From my very first interaction, their instructors displayed true professionalism and expertise. What stood out most was their teaching approach. The instructors clearly have a deep understanding of diving, but they explain everything in a simple, easy-to-grasp way. They cover crucial topics like gear usage and underwater safety with patience and care. The learning environment is comfortable and relaxed. The instructors welcome all questions and never make you feel inadequate if you need extra guidance. If you make a mistake, they calmly correct you without any criticism or condescension. When it came time for open water dives, the instructors' experience really shone through. They maintained a calming presence that put my mind at ease. While ensuring everyone's safety, they allowed each student to progress at their own comfortable pace. Beyond the instruction, Dive World Austin cultivates an excellent sense of community. You'll quickly feel like part of their diving family as you learn and grow alongside fellow students. The comradery and support are fantastic.

Fantastic experience: Terrific shop ! Open water certification class was well organized, clear, concise and easy for students. MARK is an absolutely fantastic teacher. He made things easy to understand. He is super calm, attentive and explained everything in simple easily understandable manner. He was patient and went through expectations and instructions repeatedly with each of us individually. He guides you along and ensures that you are competent. His obvious goal is to get you certified and it would be hard to fail under his guidance.

Fantastic experience: I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I was a little nervous about the scuba certification process, which is why I put it off time and time again. However, I couldn’t be happier that I finally took the plunge through Dive World Austin. I did the T/TR evening pool classes, followed by open water dives over the weekend. Scott and Christy were PHENOMENAL! They answered all of our questions and made us feel so comfortable and ready to dive. I couldn’t have done it without them. We were also lucky enough to be joined by Mark and Nate on Sunday - after meeting 4 dive masters/dive assistants from DWA, I can confidently say they have the best staff in the world. To DWA and all of my instructors: thank you, thank you, thank you!

Fantastic experience: Getting certified here was an amazing opportunity and experience! All the staff is super welcoming and encouraging, Our instructor Mark made the skills easy to learn and simple to understand without a lot of past knowledge. The open water dives were fun even with chilly weather, there were a lot of times when I wasn't sure I’d be able to complete a skill but the divemaster Christy always kept me going and I accomplished everything I needed to. The whole certification process was a super fun time and we will definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I got our certifications through Dive World Austin. We went on to get, advanced, nitros, and a few more at DWA. Their dive pros are top notch. Recently I did my 100th dive. I was lucky enough to do it on a DWA trip and got to share my milestone with friends we’ve made at the shop and on previous trips. (We have taken many trips through DWA and just booked more!) Not only is everyone who works there a complete wealth of knowledge, they are also great people with a passion for sharing their passion for diving. It really is more than just a store; it is a community we were fortunate to become a part of.

Fantastic experience: I did Discover Scuba with my husband and we both had a fantastic time! I can’t swim very well and Seth was so helpful and reassuring. I’d recommend discover scuba at dive world for anyone even remotely interested in scuba!

Fantastic experience: Just participated in a class to learn how to be an adaptive dive buddy at DWA. The class is fantastic and Philip was great as an instructor. I am very excited about their program and I highly recommend as either a body or an adaptive diver!

Fantastic experience: Nice place. Brought my gear in for service and they were all super friendly and put in the time and work to get everything serviced as quickly as possible. They are super knowledgeable and happy to help. Hope to stop by more often! I do wish they didn't have the extra charge for the younger kids in the certification classes or I would bring my kids here for that as well as I so far like them more than that other place in town.

Fantastic experience: We were three in my open water cert class. Then they had to bail out so it was just me and Scott the instructor. Very impressed. Nothing changed. Full on training followed by grilled sausages and beer. Oh and unlimited tootsie roll pops! Family run place with very approachable people. Can’t recommend enough.

Fantastic experience: The DWA staff is extremely knowledgeable about dive gear and happy to share that knowledge with you. They can also order most gear that they don't carry on their shelves. I needed a new computer for an upcoming dive trip and DWA went the extra mile to ensure it would arrive before I had to depart.

Fantastic experience: Dive World Austin is a GREAT place to get Open Water certified! Their prices are very reasonable and their classes are small. They take their time to work with you and help you understand all the concepts for scuba diving and how it relates to the real world. We had Richie as our main instructor and he couldn’t have been more patient and helpful! Even for myself, who wasn’t 100% sure if scuba diving was for me….he took the time and let me go at my pace to be sure I was comfortable with all the skills we needed to master. Once done with the pool dives, we moved to the lake and along with the amazing Richie, we also had the incredible Angie, another dive master and instructor to help. Together they kept us informed and moving through our skills! They were an impeccable team! So happy that we could be certified as a family and ever grateful for their knowledge and patience. They want you to love diving as much as they do!

I couldn’t finish my last dive because of ear pressure and was treated with so much professionalism and warmth - I got rescheduled in the same week. Fantastic experience: My family and I recently did open water training with Seth at Dive World Austin. My daughters (10yo and 11yo) and I, had a challenging and highly rewarding experience. I'm not one to write many reviews but Seth's outstanding patience, persistence and encouragement during our open water course compelled me to do so. If you are looking to jump into SCUBA or obtain another cert, especially with younger family members, I could not image a better experience than that provided by this team. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I just finished my PADI Open Water Certification from Dive World Austin. I had a ton of questions going into this class and I exchanged several e-mail with Ashely. She was always very helpful and answered all of my questions. When I went in for my equipment fitting, I never felt rushed and they staff made sure That everything was perfect before I left. I ended up coming back the following weekend and I purchased an entire scuba package. Jay and Ashley were both very helpful and explained the options I had before me. When I actually started the class I had Scott. He was an amazing instructor and I learned a lot form him. He was patient and made sure everyone was comfortable with the skill before we moved on. I couldn't have asked for a better dive shop to get my fins wet with. I would recommend them to anyone at anytime!!!

Fantastic experience: attended Discover Scuba here and I'm so lucky Jesse was my instructor! I never loved water and I had a bad experience last year where I almost drowned lol so when I got in the pool, I literally started crying (yeah, it was embarrassing) I almost walked out, but Jesse got me to stay somehow.. with his patience and encouragement I was able to finish the class! While I honestly don't see myself pursuing a certification, I'm so grateful to have had the experience & I made so much progress just from the start of the class to the end. Thank you Jesse!!

Fantastic experience: This is an overdue review - Dive World Austin is absolutely amazing! I got open water certified with Angie (and accompanied by Dan for our Lake Travis dives) in January. She was absolutely the best!! As a nervous swimmer and diver, I felt taken care of and was patiently guided through all my challenges (and there were many), giving me a lot of confidence in my skills. I probably would have backed out multiple times if it weren’t for her, but now a whole new world is open to me! Everyone in the store was great too, going out of their way to help out while I was purchasing my equipment. If anyone has any kid of diving needs, I strongly recommend DWA!

Negative experience: Bad attitude for a simple question on the phone.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I got our OW certification here and had the best experience! We opted for the two weekend course and our instructor Angie was phenomenal. She was friendly, encouraging (especially when we had some beginner nerves to work through), efficient, and overall created a fun/safe learning environment. On top of that, Ashley + the shop staff were very informative and you can tell they are all passionate about diving. Overall we felt well taken care of and we look forward to joining their upcoming Fiji dive trip next year. Highly recommend Dive World Austin to anyone wanting to get a certification!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I recently completed certification classes (hers an Open Water Certification and mine a reactivation and refresher course) at Dive World Austin (DWA) and the entire experience was fantastic! Our instructor, Scott B. was the perfect teacher; knowledgeable, clear, patient, encouraging and fun. Everyone associated with DWA is professional and always ready to help. Their follow-up and communication was exceptional. They met or exceeded our expectations in every way. I would definitely recommend them to anyone considering taking classes, buying or servicing equipment, or just exploring the option of learning how to dive.

Negative experience: Bad experience. Went on a trip with them the first time, got lost at airport was told to find a "red shirt" guy in a crowded airport, then they were unreachable by any means, by sheer luck in I stumbled on another group member and we were able to find our driver. The second time, I've I had to cancel trip due to illness, they just went radio silent on me. I understand that refund might not have been possible, but at least some communication would have been nice. I have a feeling they are just charging the money to go enjoy dives themselves without little care about their customers. You get lost in a foreign country, drown, get kidnapped by a shark - whatever you're on your own, your money is already paid!

Fantastic experience: My two teens and I signed up with Dive World for our Open Water certification. Had lots of parental anxiety about kids and SCUBA, but we couldn't have gone to a better place to learn. Ashley was the best instructor we could have asked for. She was thorough, patient, and encouraging. Her passion for diving was apparent and she was enthusiastic to teach. Having Phillip there to help was huge added bonus as he had a wealth of information to share and was always happy to answer our repetitive questions. All in all, a great experience and I would strongly recommend these guys to anyone looking to learn SCUBA.

Fantastic experience: Seth and the folks at Dive World Austin are incredible embassadors for the activity. They are organized, patient, understanding, and most importantly safety minded. My son took a teen class with 4 other guys and had a blast. Brittany was his instructor and she was most adept in handling a group of teen guys. She was firm but fun and clearly communicated the risks and rewards of scuba. With her help, my son is now Open Water certified and already talking about training for further certifications. They made me want to get certified, too! If you are even remotely interested in Scuba you have to call them and schedule your class. You wont regret it.

Tracy helped me pick out my first set of full gear and was super kind & efficient, always guiding me through the different pros/cons/price points as we went. 10/10 would recommend for any of your diving needs!

Fantastic experience: This place is amazing. I am almost 70 and this is the first mask I have ever had that doesn’t leak!! Jay was extremely patient in letting me try out what seemed like their entire inventory to get a leak free mask. Then he did the same with my girl! Years of wasting my time with internet equipment seem like such a waste when here I got a mask that actually fit. And the price was quite fair. Thanks Jay!

Fantastic experience: In my beginning scuba journey Dive World has been amazingly helpful and knowledgeable. The open water scuba class was so much fun and the instructor Ashley was absolutely incredible in creating a very entertaining and educational experience. Divemaster Carl was also highlight in the overall experience.

Positive experience: I got my Padi Rescue here. I was looking for people taking their jobs seriously and here I found them. I've been in other shops in USA which they don't worth to consider for nothing so I feel happy this time for choosing Dive World.

Fantastic experience: Hadn’t been to this dive shop in a couple years, honestly didn’t like the owner. Needed a wrist band for my Mares puck computer, so decided to give them a try. So glad I did. Staff was super helpful. Ashley the manager took my info and found a band for me. Definitely will use them in the future.

Fantastic experience: I am so glad to see this shop under new ownership! The husband and wife couple that own the shop know their trade, truly care about their customers, and are friendly and helpful. This is now my go to shop for all my dive supply! Their general manager, Ashley, is one of the most knowledgeable divers I have ever met. Have a question about dive gear? Assume she will have the answer, even if it is not about something you bought from Dive World.. She is extremely helpful and will answer your questions or get back to you timely if she doesn't know the answer. I purchased all of my wife's dive gear from Ashley, she made me a good deal for good equipment and I have the local support of her and her staff. She called me the day it arrived and couldn't be happier! If you went a few years ago and weren't happy with the service, give them another shot under new owners and team. I am sure glad I did!

Fantastic experience: We booked the 3 person (private) open water scuba PADI certification. From the beginning , Seth and his staff were simply amazing! They worked around our schedules as the 3 of us being small business owners have crazy busy schedules and small time frames available. Seth lined us up with Nick, our Instructor. Hands down the ultimate best experience to kick start our adventures that we are so very excited to book. Nick was very clear, extremely patient, calm, and is a kick @#! Instructor. Everything went extremely smooth and on time.I will make sure to tell everyone to request Nick( if possible ) and book with Dive World Austin!!!! Also wanted to say, glad they chose Windy Point as the easy access in and out of the water, close parking, friendly staff, and scuba friendly to say the least. Fantastic experience: My husband, my 14 and 12 yr olds, and myself just got open water certified through Dive World Austin. They were willing to work with our family plus a large group of friends and they did a phenomenal job. The Dive Instructors and Dive Masters are professional, friendly, positive, organized and encouraging. They are thorough and safety conscious - great with adults and kids. I would highly recommend this dive shop for any training. The owners are fantastic as well.

Fantastic experience: I'm writing this review on behalf of my husband.... If you are looking for a dive shop in Central Texas, Dive World Austin is it!!! The staff was amazing, helpful, and very knowledgeable. We took our older dive computers in to be looked at, and they were able to repair them. We drove over 2hrs so I could take the Open Water Course, to be able to dive with my wife. My instructor was Ashley and our dive master was Carl. They were awesome!! We had so much fun, they kept the class interesting and entertaining, it didn't feel like I was in a class. I highly recommend Dive World Austin! On behalf of myself, I got to experience my husband's lake dive with his class. Afterwards I told him, I was so jealous of his group and instructors. We will be signing up for the Advance Open Water next. #KeepAustinDiving

Fantastic experience: Dive World Austin more than met my expectations -- they well exceeded them! From working with Seth to get myself and my son in an open water class; to going in the shop and receiving fantastic knowledge and help in choosing proper gear; to actually working with our instructor, John, everything about this was a 5 star experience. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely interested in giving us a great first experience with diving. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Just went there to rent a few tanks they were $10.00 a piece for 24hr, the place is not too far from the watter how ever it is not walking distance close I meant in general is in a good location with very friendly people

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience from start to certification. My g/f and I recently got open water certified with Dive World Austin. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff was great and our instructor John was awesome! He made us feel very comfortable and provided a lot of knowledge that didn’t end with scuba. We’re going on a trip to St. Thomas in a few weeks and he was cool enough to give us some pro tips from his experience living on the island which was a big deal given we like to stay off the touristy path. Back to scuba though; it was an awesome experience and I’d highly recommend using Dive World Austin if you’re planning on getting your certification. Ask for John R.

Fantastic experience: My family of four took an excellent Nitrox class with Brittany. She is extremely knowledgeable, upbeat, clear, and able to teach to all levels - a very gifted teacher. The shop was supportive and friendly and accommodating when weather changed our plans.

Fantastic experience: I called this store a few days before our trip to mexico looking for fins that would match my current mask and snorkel Thankfully they carried the same brand (Tusa) and in my size and color to match (metallic red). I found short booties for my fins, a shortie (I got a medium being that I normally wear a small but have a longer torso) and a dive bag to hold all my new goodies. They were so helpful, from the phone to in store experience. They explained differences between fins and equipment and were helpful in letting us know how everything should fit once we tried it on. Mexico here we come!!!
