Fantastic experience: Very well kept. The grounds and beach club are well maintained.

Negative experience: I was put in a hotel room that adjoined a pet friendly room. The dog in the adjoining room barked all night long and sniffed under the door. I felt like I was staying in a closet. It was an awful experience and the staff would not let me speak with a manager. They would not listen to my complaint Clint and acted condescending.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful condo. Have stayed in several places on the property. Love it here

Negative experience: Cambridge 203 - dump! Broken fixtures, broken a/c, nasty bedding (requested new king sheets at 1000pm and had to go to front desk at midnight to get queen for a king bed), smelt like weed, found drugs on balcony, balcony disgusting, chunks of meat in microwave, filthy! Heard from other guests this is a common problem - DO NOT STAY HERE!

Negative experience: Just checked in. This place has gone downhill considerably. Mold, shut down pools, caution tape everywhere. The villa we are staying in is nice, but not completely clean. Trying to make the best of it, but one day into our vacation and facilities are subpar.

Positive experience: Beautiful community. Great beach access. A bit crowded & there were too many tents/shibumi set up on the beach. Our rental was a bit dated, needed a remodel, & there were bugs.

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience staying at Litchfield By the Sea. We booked through Hammock Coast Life and loved it. The condo was huge, beds were comfortable, kitchen was fully equipped and the view was so pretty! Great location to everything in Pawleys Island too!

Negative experience: Room was not what was advertised, twin beds, Instead of advertised kings. Furniture run down, room had stale cigarette stench. They did move us rooms little better furnishings but they pushed two mis match twins together and we feel in-between and they was cheap mattresses very uncomfortable. We was not rested for whole week. 3 rd stay other 2 was nicer. This time we regret week stay. Make sure of room before you book with them. Website very misleading.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming here for decades. Service approach has become less involved as Airbnb and VRBO became more prominent. Great beach access and a wonderful gated area.

Fantastic experience: My family has been coming here every year for over a decade and it's always A1. The property is absolutely beautiful and it's maintained to the highest standards. The front office staff is always kind and helpful and go the extra mile. Housekeeping keeps the place incredibly clean. I highly recommend staying here!

Negative experience: Called about having a wedding at their property, they transferred me 7 different times and no one knew what was going on. I finally got sent to a voice mail at the restaurant, this seemed like yet another run around they put me on, so I called back and the lady was so rude with me and acted like my wedding was an inconvenience to her. Unhelpful staff, go somewhere else.

Negative experience: Have called 3 different times to try to book rooms that are shown as available online. Every phone call 20-25 min long.. after they get my email and credit card information, they tell me its not available. What a joke. Every phone call I speak to a different person, and they all assure me that its available this time. I've never tried so hard to spend four thousand dollars. Will never come again

Negative experience: It's age is showing... However there is still charm and it remains a good place for families to visit. As a visitor and prospective investor I will say that my recent experiences (24 moths) with the LBTS team and hospitality staff from the front gate to the grounds team is showing signs of poor leadership. In no way would I invest here due to systemic shortage of gracious hospitality being shown anywhere. There is so much potential and our group has been really disappointed in the experiences of late with the community.

Fantastic experience: My favorite place

Positive experience: We have been going to Litchfield By the Sea for over 20 plus years! We LOVE it here! HOWEVER, I am writing a review on Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort and their underhanded dealings. We booked online with their discount months ago for a Fordham oceanfront condo for a long weekend. We arrived on Thursday only to be told that we were in Paget and I said that is not the unit I reserved. The gentleman then read the notes and said the manager changed it due to a winter rental that is using the unit. I then informed them that NO ONE contacted me to let me know or to ask if we were ok with it. They had my down payment on the day I reserved it! SO then the lady next to him said "we are all booked up" so do you want to keep it or not? I then replied, well I just drove 5 hours so I guess I don't have a choice do I? I did demand a discount because Paget is NOT oceanfront. So the lady did place an additional discount towards our room and we went on our way. Went to the unit, ate dinner and came back to find a note on the washer from technician stating it was not in working order! So I call back to the front office and they tell me that most people don't use the washer/dryer on long weekends and owners fuss if they don't rent the unit for that reason. I said , well I paid for an oceanfront unit with a washer and dryer, you took it upon yourself to move me to a parking lot view unit with a broken washer. Again I got the "we have no other rooms". I had already researched and they did have rooms open, so the lady put me on hold and came back with "we have a cancellation in Sandpiper for tomorrow, you can go there after it is cleaned tomorrow after 4. So we did - not updated at all - looks like it is still decorated in the 1980's gold, floral and rattan furniture - but hey the washer and dryer worked! AGAIN NOT WHAT I HAD RESERVED! We stayed the rest of the weekend in this unit and I vow to NEVER rent from Litchfield Beach Golf and Resort again! I will pay regular price and reserve with other companies from now on! RIDICULOUS!!!!

Positive experience: Make sure to get breakfast buffet.

Negative experience: What a disaster! Family has been here many times but it has fallen. three groups for funeral and moved one to other end Our unit so loud due to construction, door knobs on grounds, had to move furniture to use tv and toilet flooding floor. Front desk says sorry and if want help speak to Kelly who is unavailable and doesn’t return calls Photos show much nicer place than reality so be careful

Negative experience: If you are planning to come here in the near future, please know that there is major construction going on at Bridgewater. There are dumpsters and debris all around the building accompanied by VERY loud construction noises right outside of rooms and within earshot of the pool. They aren’t able to keep up with complaints. We are here for a funeral/family reunion and it’s been a hot mess for all of our families.

Negative experience: My wife and I are in our 60s and travel often. We had spent some time at Isle of Palm and headed north to Litchfield. I grabbed a room here on-line without doing enough research and was really sorry. The room was grossly over priced. This might be an $89 room, but certainly not worth the $300 we paid. Be aware that “The Lodge” wing of the hotel is 60+ years old and in need of serious renovation. We stayed on the third floor, please note there are NO elevators in this wing. The room looked like something a college student would rent with his buddies for spring break. We had a king sized bed, but there were 2x4 construction bunks hanging by chains from the wall. The bath had been renovated somewhere along the way, the tub removed, but the faucet handle was still at tub level. There was no place in the enclosure to put a bar of soap and the the water cycled between hot and cold without warning. The room had a horrible smell like dead fish, and while the staff was very nice and showed us another room in that wing, it too had a bad odor. Nice pool and beach access, but not worth $89 much less the $300(!!) we paid. We moved to a much nicer beach property in Surfside just up the coast a bit. Much nicer property, beach view with a porch for less money!

Negative experience: Horrible...room dirty , roaches, toilet didn't work... Dont waste your hard earned money.

Negative experience: Stayed late August, when it was quiet and relatively empty. PROS: The beach and beach club is great. The beach rivals any in Florida and loved that you can take dogs on the beach. This COULD be a five-star - however, for $300 a night, the Seaside Inn accommodation was awful. CONS: The room was old and in dire need of a top-down renovation. Poorly patched up walls. One of the beds didn't even have a blanket. Signs of bad water damage directly above one of the beds and worried that it was going to drip into the bed. Not even sure how it's possible that marble can have what looked like cleaning or mold stains? Noisy, obnoxious neighbors on the balcony on the second night. Only a single, slow elevator for a large building. Our family called it quits when the A/C unit broke down mid-stay.

Fantastic experience: We recently stayed here and had a few issues with our room. Zoey at the front desk was SO HELPFUL & Dan in maintenance was so helpful too. Great service by them. They worked hard to resolve our issues and upgraded us to a nice room.

Positive experience: Condo was nice and clean; however, the owners of condos at both Bridgewater and Summerhouse need to get into this century and provide USB ports! Guests should not have to carry plugs for everything we have to plug in these days! Also, when I reserve a bike, it should be there for me and when they have a sign out advertising the entertainment, you should be able to expect to see it. I have stayed at Litchfield about 10 times, but will start considering other places to stay in the future. Kinda disappointed this time. Condos need to be updated and in better repair at Bridgewater, for sure!

Fantastic experience: This place is worth the money. Rooms set back a bit from the water is the only downside. Very quiet beach unlike Myrtle Beach. Enjoy the pools, the ocean, chasing crabs, and the quiet. Gated community so there is an extra layer of security. Lots of biking and walking trails. Great food at restaurant.

Negative experience: I reserved 2 suites and from there the nightmare began. 1 suite wasn't ready at check in. Then I discovered they changed our suite so our family wasn't next door to each other. This was a big deal because I specifically told the booking agent I would not book the suites if we could not get them side by side and it was confirmed we would have 31a and 31b. How we ended up with 58d and 31b is beyond me. In 31b the screens were torn on the patio and there was a blanket that was torn and had the stuffing cone out. I asked for them to replace the blanket which they agreed to do but never did. 58d had roaches, spiders, and dust everywhere like it was abandoned for construction. At this point it was ridiculous. We were able to get another suite after midnight. It wasn't much better but at least I could breathe. One of the rentals they sent us to had a bad mildew smell and the carpets were still wet. Needless to say my family and I wasted a whole evening trying to get what we paid for and we still have not heard back from them about it. No phone call or email. My family and I went to Litchfield maybe once or twice a year but we will not be returning. There is no excuse for the treatment that was given. My boys had to get up at almost 1 in the morning to go to the other suite ruining their vacation.

Fantastic experience: Rented a 2 bedroom/2bath on the Lake at Lakeside Villas (41A). Great place, right on the lake, quiet but close to the bar, restaraunt and starbucks. This is a hidden gem and affordably priced.

Positive experience: Very nice property, no matter which area you stay at. Some have better amenities, that you may be interested in, so do that research before making your decision. It's right off of 17 in case you decide to go off property to eat, but we've never had a bad meal on the grounds. Look into SCUTE to see if any turtle nests will be coming out and where while you are there, Several FB pages.

Positive experience: Nice place if you get a room that is clean. Our reservation was made a month prior to our stay. The room had sagging mattresses, dirt on the floor and pubic hairs in the shower. Next room was better. Front desk people were nice and apologized, upgraded our new room. Breakfast included cooked to order eggs, fruit, yogurt, grits, etc. The staff in the restaurant were awesome. Beach is wide and beautiful. Definitely recommend you keep track of your reservation and check out your room before you get your luggage out of the car. We are due a credit that still is not showing on our credit card a week later.
