Negative experience: UPDATE #2 (2/14/25 3:40pm): Here is the most nothing-burger reply I think I've ever gotten from a company! No wonder this place is going downhill if corporate doesn't actually believe customer complaints. They didn't even bother to sign it-I wonder if they just copy and paste this and send it to everyone who has a problem? Hello David. We reached out to the AAA Chesterfield, Car Care Manager, she advised after thoroughly reviewing the situation and speaking directly with you during your visit, she believes the case has been appropriately addressed and resolved. Thank you. UPDATE #1 (2/14/25): I emailed the address included in AAA's response. I received one message (could have been an auto reply) and no follow-up from AAA. Wow, maybe I should have read the recent reviews before coming back here for my state inspection. Long story short-They failed me for some legit (I have a 15 year old car) and questionable things and a bolt magically disappeared after I got the State Police involved. Long story long-Had my mechanic fix those things except for the headlamp which he said didn't need fixing. For the reinspection, the state inspector said everything passed except for the headlamp. My mechanic had told me how to verify so I questioned him he pulled up the machine and it looked like it passed but he said it was too "dispersed" (FYI-that's not a reason for it to fail) so I got the State Police involved. On reinspection, the headlight magically passes (even though it still had the same cloudiness and condensation) but now a bolt is missing from my brake caliper! Yes, the same one that the state inspector said was fine the day before. Obviously, this is dangerous so they charge me $123.45 to put on one bolt. Filed a complaint with the State Police Vehicle Inspection divison and not going back here EVER again. Oh, and to add insult to injury, their list of "recommended maintenance" isn't based on what your car needs it's based on what's in CarFax. But they won't tell you that. I only found out after I pushed back at some of the items listed. So if you do go there, you can't trust their upsell.

Negative experience: Stay far away from this place. Twice they have taken advantage of me. The first time they recommended replacing things that turned out didn't need replacing. I left having the same issue as when I arrived. I didn't find out until I took it to another mechanic that I needed need what they said I needed. That mechanic fixed the issue in half a day for under $100. At the same time, we took my girl's vehicle in as well and they tried to do the same thing but I stopped the work because I found out about the first issue. I brought this up to management and they didn't care, said a rep would reach out. That never happened. I realized I got screwed. It is what it is. I'll eat it. This whole company is going out of business anyway. For the love of God though, whatever you do, do NOT take your vehicle to these crooks. They are the worst robbers I've ever seen. Updated: Take your fake PR response down. I already called and emailed who I needed to and you did nothing. This fake response to pretend to show you care isn't fulling anyone. Your company is gross and is thankfully going out of business soon as it takes all day for you to even get two service to people because your subcontractors quit you and they few people you do employ can't cover the whole area. You see the reviews here, launch an investigation but of course you won't do that because you guys know already.

Negative experience: I took my car in for a state inspection, I was told my car needed $3800. work done on it. I had my transmission worked less than two weeks previously. I was scared to drive it so I had it towed to my mechanic. My mechanic did some work, the next day I took it to another garage and it passed the inspection. My total bill was less than $400. Be wary.

Negative experience: I had my infant's passport photos done here 3 years ago. No issues. Today I was turned away for infant photos and told they don't do infant photos. A few months ago when I enrolled, I made an appt for my car. When I showed up they said they didn't have me on the schedule and was turned away. I made this appt in person the previous week! Won't be renewing my membership. Waste of money.

Negative experience: I brought my 04 Honda Accord in for a transmission issue. Dropped off the car at the overnight dropbox. Left instructions to check the transmission fluid and flush it if needed and then do a transmission diagnostics. The next day, I received a call at the engine mounts and transmission mounts were the cause of the issue. Five of sixth of these were replaced. It cost $1195. The next day, my transmission on my car died. The car was towed back to AAA, who wanted to charge me $5675 to replace the transmission for parts and labor. This price was giving me $800, off since they fixed the wrong thing and the transmission died anyway. One of the mechanics wanted to buy my car for $400. Don’t go to this shop.

Negative experience: Would not recommend as a place for inspections. They failed our vehicle for a minor item (subjective fail), and wanted to charge us $300 for a fix that was a $20 part and 20 minutes of my time. Then they could not accommodate us for re-inspection within the 15 day grace period, as they were "too busy". Overall, they were extremely unhelpful and now I'll probably just end up going somewhere else to have the reinspection done.

Fantastic experience: Went above and beyond on a standard oil change. Didn’t try to upsell on non-necessities like other AAA car care centers I’ve dealt with. The mechanic also took the time to show me how to change my own air filter when I said I wanted to save money and do it myself.

Fantastic experience: This is an update edit on my original review. After the first visit, we were less than pleased, communicated with the shop, and got the most AMAZING response! They invited us back the next day to look at the car again, especially in the light of our specific concerns. The technician walked my kid through every test and result. Discussed our concern, looked at that issue, did find some problems (but almost assuredly NOT the cause of the primary issue), cleaned the throttle body by hand, and gave us specific answers on what to look for moving forward. The car is running very well, and this AAA shop has earned our repeat business.

Negative experience: Took my car here because it was making a noise technician told me he could do a “band aid” fix to prolong usage. Picked my car up the next day and it was significantly worse and I haven’t been able to drive it since then. I wouldn’t have paid over $500 if he explained the actual problem better.

Negative experience: CROOKS! I called AAA and spoke to Kevin about an oil change. He said with my membership it would be $45 which is a bit cheaper than what I usually get it for so I came in. However, of course the price increased to $80. This is truly unprofessional and disrespectful of people’s time and money. I have way better mechanic recommendations if you’re in need just save yourself the trip and money. HE WANTED TO PUT THE WRONG OIL IN MY CAR.

Negative experience: Do Not Use This Mechanic For Repairs! They are dishonest and will steal from you. Hit a curb while avoiding a collision and blew out front tire and dented the rim. AAA towed the vehicle to this nearby AAA Car Care center in Chesterfield. They quoted repairs over $3,000 and sent a report. There is no visible damage in the pictures provided by their technician to the "wheel bearing, lower ball joint, strut, outer tie rod" as they claimed, so we decided to take it to a shop we know and trust. They checked every component mentioned above and more, and found that the car simply needs a new wheel and alignment for around $500. The AAA service advisor is named Carolyn Compton and the inspection was performed by "Technician A," Francisco Espinal. I am thankful to have multiple mechanics in Richmond that we can trust, but I am so livid at the scam this AAA Chesterfield Car Care center has likely run on countless people.

Negative experience: I went in for an oil change and left with a long list of other work they suggested I needed. Over $2000 which included spark plugs and tune up I had just had done elsewhere. Also said my tires were dryrotted, but only one needed replacing?!? No one said a word to me about it. Just had me sign a paper saying I declined suggested work. I have always thought highly of AAA, but this has put a bad taste in my mouth.

Negative experience: Beware, AAA changes $200 for a $100 car battery. I have had a AAA battery for approximately 6 weeks and had to have battery jumped twice! The second time I called it took over 5 hours for AAA to respond. Please note, I was told that the car must be started every two days or the battery would lost all power.

Negative experience: Scheduled an appointment online for car care, and wrote “state vehicle inspection” in the notes section. I guess no one reviews the appointments that are made online, because I showed up and was told they don’t do inspections on Saturday and that they don’t do appointments for inspections (I guess they’re walk-ins?). Would have been nice to know this ahead of time so I didn’t waste my Saturday morning. The associates who spoke to me were nice (hence the 2 stars rather than 1), but there needs to be more transparency about the services (or lack thereof) that are offered here.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service experience for my car. It was very easy to schedule an appointment over the phone and they performed the tire change very professionally and even ahead of schedule. I got an extra 10% off labor cost for being a AA member. Honestly, I don't see a reason to go elsewhere! I, do the majority of my own work however any auto repair job I can't do myself I will be more than happy to entrust at AAA.

Positive experience: Had a bad experience with the CSR's. I stopped by the office to give report and they gave me a phone number to call. Had a very nice experience after sitting on side of the road for over 3 hours waiting for service. I was told it would be there in 40 minutes when I first called. This is not typical of AAA and I hope nobody will have to endure this.

Negative experience: My wife made an appointment here to get an oil change and inspection. When I arrived for the appointment, they claimed that their technician was too busy to do the inspection despite the claim by phone earlier that it would be no problem to get it done. I was also told the oil change would take less than an hour, but ended up taking closer to two hours. This caused me to be late for another appointment.

Negative experience: It seems they change their hours depending on what they feel at the time. The website states they close at 5pm on Saturday, the door showed hours til 5pm and "come in we're open" sign and I walked in a few minutes before 3pm and the employee said she can't help me because they're about to close. They also said they were busy with another customer yet other employees were just sitting at desks doing nothing. Another customer went in after me and they said the same thing to her. The one customer they were "busy with" was already done and walking out by the time I was getting back in my car. Most businesses are supposed to help customers up until the exact time they close and this was 2 HOURS before. Don't waste your time.

Fantastic experience: Brought in my newly purchased ’06 E-450 for inspection and oil change. I told them I had just purchased it and wanted to know what it may need in addition to anything state inspection required (something I would NEVER say if I didn’t trust the shop lol- but they were recommended to me by a good friend.) Fantastic experience: The thing about AAA is you don't need it till you need it and then when you need it you very glad that you have it out Speed Triple A four years I went from Richmond to Tidewater I have my tire blowout on the Monitor-Merrimac Bridge that would have cost me a lot of money to have it towed back to Richmond AAA driver showed up towed it all the way back to Richmond no-questions-asked didn't cost me a dime couldn't believe it a hundred and ten miles and he did it without even blinking and I AAA is a wonderful thing to have it really is and you can also bypassed DMV now with the problems for going through with the DMV you can get tags to AAA you can get a lot of things to AAA and not have to deal with the DMV I wouldn't go without it

Positive experience: Took truck for a free oil change as part of a AAA promotion for First Responders. Counter person audibly clucked and sighed (As if annoyed) when I explained I was a First Responder. I don’t always take advantage of the services offered to First Responders but I was saving $50, so it was very helpful, but the attitude was not appreciated.

Fantastic experience: Needed a flat tire replaced. The service department price was fair and the manage communicated all timing and repair information to me. They did some extra work that I didn't request or authorize, so they didn't charge me for it.

Negative experience: I will be updating this with photos here shortly. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless they are going here for just a tire or oil change or basic maintenance. Went here bc I had an axle snap and AAA recommended it when I was getting it towed. They mentioned they replaced the axles but the only thing unsafe was the tire. Long story short take it to my normal mechanic and my whole front subframe is rusted out. And I mean rusted in half so it was a ticking time bomb and I could hear the clunking when turning. The car was definitely not safe to drive in any way shape or form. But mind you they did mention it was rust, but didn't take the time to actually diagnose or look into it. Extremely unhappy and extremely angry that I risked my safety and car by listening to them. Update: emailed the automated message they replied with. Said they'd forward it to the local manager. No response. Absolutely ridiculous. Posted pictures of my car being "safe to drive" with my engine ready to hit the ground.

Negative experience: Just left this location and the representative at the front, Chasity, was not very friendly and not helpful at all. We came in around 6:15pm looking to discuss travel agency arrangements and all we received from Chasity was a unpleasant response advising they had no travel agent available and they closed at 7. Then at this point, they should change their signs to closing at 6:15pm. As someone working in customer service, we don’t care if someone comes in at 6:58 pm...the customer comes first and we make sure they have a pleasant experience and their concerns resolved. I will be sure to never come back to this location again and let everyone else know my experience in the future about this place. Chasity needs some customer service classes ASAP!

Negative experience: Don’t go to this facility they are not honest. I took my car in as I had a nail in my tire. I was told I had two two nails one was leaking and they might be able to plug the leak. They told me it was to close to the side and it couldn’t be plugged and I needed a new tire. Decided to go to my Volkswagen dealer and they plugged the hole with no problem. I called the facility back on Friday to speak with the manager got the same person who told me I needed a new tire. Claimed it was all a miscommunication. I wonder how many people he has scammed. I am cancelling membership
