AAA Tire & Auto Service - Troy

Negative experience: I don’t usually complain or write reviews, it’s just frustrating to forget costly repairs like this. I towed my car at Troy location few months ago because my car start shaking when I drive for awhile and make loud noises. They diagnosed something unrelated to this issue and told me their was a leak. I paid for unrelated issue and I still have the same problem today how can I trust AAA again? I ask them to do oil change as well but they never fill it up it’s always half empty. I have to buy two extra quarts when they change my oil.

Fantastic experience: I needed my battery changed today and they were very Compassionate, very fast on getting my car done for me even though that they were busy.

Negative experience: I will never go back to AAA to get my car fixed ever again. On September 26th, I got my car towed and got a new battery. The battery lasted 2 days. I tried starting my car up and letting it run and it did absolutely nothing. I called and had it towed again a few weeks later (due to me being really busy and out of town) and had my battery replaced for free. Darryl helped me and treated me like everything was my fault. He said that I need to make sure my radio is being turned off every time I leave the vehicle and I told him that it’s never left on. He also said that the battery died because I haven’t been driving it, but I can’t drive it if it’s not starting! They thankfully didn’t charge me anything because it was under warranty. I told them that I’m getting this car fixed up to sell and he said “good luck.” I’m not sure why, but I had a very uneasy feeling. I drove my car back home yesterday, to not even making it home. My oil light came on, my car locked up and I could’ve easily crashed. I was also stuck on a very busy road. I just filled up my oil a few days before this and it’s not leaking and it’s not burning because it hasn’t been starting. I really think that one of the guys got mad that I needed another battery and drained my oil. Not only putting my life at risk of getting into an accident, but also tearing up my engine. I have taken my car to this particular AAA location 4-5 times and every time I am mistreated because I am a young women. I will never be going back there and I don’t recommend anyone ever going here.

Fantastic experience: Spoke with Darryl the Manager today and I could not have been more pleased! The shop immediately quoted me work that was over 50% less in cost than my dealership service dept. had quoted me moments before calling this AAA location. They also will allow me to to supply the parts an supplies needed for the repairs which is a lifesaver for my growing family's budget. Very excited to work with Darryl now and in the years to come for my vehicles! I even found out today that my partner has bought all of her vehicles to this exact location as well so it was meant to be!

Fantastic experience: Always prompt, thorough and courteous. Darryl helpfully explained and showed me what was going on with my car, and I REALLY appreciate not being scammed into a bunch of things my car doesn't need. When someone folded my mirrors, they popped them back into place for me without charge. I recommend AAA to all my family and friends.

Fantastic experience: My truck blew out a tire, and Daryl's team took care of it 3 weeks ago. Then, a week later, my car blew a tire out. I had it towed right back here because of the way I was treated the previous week. They actually changed all 4 tires and did an oil change that same day, so I wouldn't have to miss any more work. Daryl, Tyler, and the team were just awesome! Making sure I was comfortable, joking around, and making sure I was kept informed every step of the way. I will definitely be back in the future if the need arises! Thank you all so much!!!

Fantastic experience: My truck blew a tire out at 7:50 pm on the highway. Had it towed here and Daryl called me at 7:30 the following morning to get it fixed right away. Had all 4 tires changed and Daryl was a very friendly, funny guy. I will definitely be going back there for future needs! Thanks so much, Daryl and team!!!

Fantastic experience: My car was having trouble with its tire pressure and we took it in to AAA in hopes that they would help get the pressure up. Daryl thoroughly explained everything they did including reprogramming the tire sensors, replacing a tire sensor, and checking for leaks, without a cost.

Negative experience: This is a complaint about one of your driving school instructors that seemingly needed to drive extremely fast through the Shenandoa neighborhood this morning, 3 July 2024 around 9-9:30a.m. Obviously this instructor was in such a hurry to get to her student appointment at 2038 Emerson Way she felt it was ok to go well above the posted speed of 25mph on Greenbriar Drive, in one of your marked AAA Driving school vehicles, through a neighborhood with a lot of young children. Not a good way to advertise your services, or ensure the safety of others when they are behind the wheel. Please have your instructors practice the driving skills you should be teaching.

Fantastic experience: They have done good quality work for my Wife and I on our vehicles. They are trustworthy and will do what they can.

Negative experience: I took my car to the AAA location in Troy for an oil change and an alignment. I can’t complain on the speed of the service as I was in and out within an hour or so. I do find the price of their oil changes to be outrageous, even when I had a 20$ coupon compared to many of the other auto shops around the area. I did find one thing to be an issue, which is a big issue to myself, making me wonder what other things they say they did but didn’t. Apparently they do a courtesy inspection on your vehicle checking several things. Out of the 40 or so things they said they checked, only 2 things were bad. One being a dirty air filter and the other being a check engine light. Supposedly one of the things they checked thru out this inspection was the CV axles, which they said were ok. I’ve known for over a year now that the front left is was bad, even stated and shown to me in a video from Lexus. I’ve also changed my brakes recently and saw the boot myself torn on the front left cv axle. When my car was ready, I spoke with Tyler who was the salesperson thru out the process and asked how close they look at these items they check in the inspection. He asked what do I mean, so I went ahead and stated they said the cv axles were okay but yet Lexus said and showed proof in a video that the left front cv axle was bad. He made a nice smart comment of well whose to say Lexus is right. Smart comment buddy. I then stated to him I just changed my brakes recently and saw the boot torn myself. Of course this leaves him speechless. I get that it’s a “courtesy inspection”, but now it also makes me ponder what else they state they do, but yet don’t actually do it. The fact that Tyler made the comment of well whose to say they’re right also wasn’t a comment you make to a customer. I’d never recommend this location, nor will I ever go back. My advice, STAY AWAY.

Positive experience: Found this service centre through CAA connected to AAA when my car had a serious break down on hwy. Great customer service! All were very professional and accommodating, from"Jim" the tow truck driver to "Daryl" the manager and the "mechanic" as well as "Tyler" the service rep. These wonderful people went the extra mile and Daryl even came into work during his day off to help us out tremendously. I never give 5 stars to anyone because 5 stars means perfection and then there would be no room for improvement so 4 stars to me means a lot. Thank you guys!

Fantastic experience: Darrel has written up service on three of my vehicles and I have been quite happy with all of the repairs. While my wife drives a newer car but our other two vehicles we have are very high mileage Hondas. They are in good shape but at an age where major components will go from time to time. The highlight was when we had some major work done on my daughter's car. Not one month later we set off to Virginia Beach from Troy. We drove there without incident and full confidence in the repairs that were made. Credit Honda or AAA, but we drove a 2009 Honda with 300,000 miles to Virginia and back with no problem. Most recently, and the repair that prompted this review. I thought my struts were shot on the back of my newly acquired high mileage Honda. After they investigated, they found the struts to be fine but some other issues that needed addressed. I know more than one shop would have done the struts and sent it out the door. AAA didn't. They investigated all concerns, found the root cause, and did the repairs. I love my old Hondas and it's good to have a service center that helps me keep them on the road and in good shape. Fantastic experience: I took my car to the dealership and had an oil change and a few other things I asked him to check my air pressure and I verified it with three people when we were finished and found out that it hadn’t been done so I pulled into AAA and Troy it was raining and Tyler was so kind to come out and check my tires and fill them up because Beau Townsend in Vandalia Ohio did not do their job well. He was so kind and generous to assist me. I was just so happy to find someone that was so willing to fix my problem without hesitation thank you Tyler so much!!!!

Fantastic experience: I went to Valvoline first but forgot they mostly only do oil changes. They couldn’t service me for the rest of the items on my Honda’s checklist. I needed service fast because we were going out of state on a trip. They were able to squeeze me in last minute on the same day as my Valvoline service. They had excellent customer service. They communicated well via text and even stayed later than hours to get it all done. I couldn’t have gone on my trip without them! Plus, my membership was upgraded and saved even more on my service. Next time I’m going to AAA for all of my Honda needs!

Fantastic experience: I was able to get the money I spent Trying to get my car back in full life hard for me and AAA came through for me on my time of need god is good in good times and bad that you so much for understanding the situation and hard times I’m in I would definitely recommend AAA to anyone!

Negative experience: My wife took her Jeep Cherokee here for an oil change. They saw a woman bringing in a car for repairs and decided to rip her off. They convinced her that she needed to Flush her brake fluid and that it was overdue and dangerous not to do so. She agreed as they scared her about the dangers saying she may not have brakes that work when she needs them. There was nothing wrong with her brake fluid. I don't know if they even bothered to change it or if they just took her money for nothing. All they saw was a woman they could take advantage of. Shame on them! By the way, if they had bothered to check, the maintenance schedule on that car doesn't recommend a brake fluid flush--- EVER. They made the whole thing up just to get her money.

Fantastic experience: On March 21, 2023 I was traveling from Dayton to Greenville Ohio. When I exited I-75 in Troy my car started shaking and the check engine light came on. I pulled over into a parking lot and turned the engine off and back on hoping all the computer chips would reset and everything would be OK. Nope. I saw the AAA service center across the parking lot and pulled in. A couple hours later I was back on the road thanks to Daryl and his service crew. Their diagnostics and repairs were quick and accurate. Thanks for the quick and excellent customer service.

Negative experience: Was told to come back to finish my alignment and it would be an hour which I said I can do an hour but I work 3rds so anymore and it curmts into my sleep. Low and behold I show up and the manager about laughs in my face when I tell him this and here I am an hour and a half later still waiting. Avoid this place they are liars

Positive experience: Stopped in to get a AAA debit card that my son could use when traveling overseas to London. Unfortunately, they had not received them in time for his trip. I did end up purchasing an approved lock for him to use for his luggage.

Negative experience: I came to AAA to try to book a flight. Tried three times to sit down and speak to a associate within the matter of 3 weeks every time I showed up nobody was there to help and cards were given to me to call. I'm not a big call and talk to the person over the phone when it comes to specially plane tickets and especially at the cost of flying lately.The fourth time I went in I was able to sit down with a lady the experience was good but I was blown away to know that being a AAA member has zero benefits now they no longer provide the RV trailer packages and the AAA discounts are little to none anymore. I told the lady I need to speak with my wife to confirm pricing and dates because again flying is not cheap anymore. Tried calling back numerous times to be told she was not there and staff was out. My wife then tried calling two days ago again she's off for another week. We ended up going to Delta airlines direct and ordering it ourselves very disappointed

Fantastic experience: Excellent service, honest, g enuine, and straight to the point, and didn't play games with numbers, along with very friendly and fun to talk to. Daryl was exceptional along with his partner Mr. Esposito! Very knowledgeable of his job, extremely helpful, and fast with service, we we're in a pinch and didn't have much time, and they came through for us, we will definitely come back!

Fantastic experience: We’re from AZ. While in Troy my car’s low tire pressure warning went off. I discovered I had run over a screw. Being a AAA member I went to the local AAA service center. I got there at closing time and explained the situation to Daryl the Car Care Manager. Travis, one of the techs, volunteered to stay & fix our tire. Within in 20 minutes we were back on our way. Fantastic experience: My husband and I were very pleased with the outstanding service of this location. We were helped by Darrell, Austin, and our mechanic was Jody. Darrell was fantastic to explain exactly what had gone wrong with our car, even going so far too show us the parts so we could understand. The parts and labor are warrantied for 2 years if you are a member which is a heck of a way to stand behind your work. Austin filled us in on that bit of info and the car is running great! I would highly recommend these guys and this location.

Fantastic experience: So before taking my car to AAA I took it to two other places I will not name those places but at each of these places they failed to tell me that I had three bent rims and a tire with a belt that was separating from the actual tire itself which AAA a little bit more expensive sure but I mean you can't put price on your safety.

Positive experience: I am paying AAA for 2 years and two days ago I went there to fix a flat tire suspicious. My tire was not flat and the attendant was very polite.

Negative experience: I have been going to this place since 2019. I took my cars, my mom’s, and my wife’s car there. AAA store use to resolve the problem quick. But here recently they seem to send the car back with no idea of what is going on. Plus multiple parts with warranties have went bad, but AAA store always finds a way to claim the warranty is no good. My last experience at AAA store I walked in and asked for the keys to my car and the AAA worker held them over the desk and asked me to say “please”. I snatched them and he demanded that I never reach over his desk again. This isn’t an issue being that I will never go to this business again. I remember when Jay was there business was conducted much better.

Fantastic experience: If you are in need of service and travels a must stop by and see Darryl, Susan and Tricia this is who we trust!! We came to get oil, tires and such but left with photos and passports of us!! So if your in Troy and a AAA you need, well one stop shopping should make u shout with glee!!! No really these guys and gals were great!!! Awesome customer service and we got oil, tires , balanced , rotated, battery form to send in for reimbursement, passport and photos all while waiting on service!!! Highly recommend them!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Darrel and Matt saved the day for us. Our moving truck had a flat tire. We bought a new tire and couldn’t find anyone who could replace it. Being the Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend, we were having trouble finding a place with the capability and availability. Some places didn’t want to mess with a moving truck. Not only was AAA willing to try, they did it in 10 minutes. The service was incredible and we are grateful to be back on the road.

Negative experience: Bought 4 new tires Great price got me right in Only took about 30 to 40 minutes Is very friendly I left on the way home my tire light came on So I called back and told him my light was on they said it should go out after I drive a little while The light did not go out so I took it back the next day Then they told me I had a bad sensor which was fine before I took the car there And they would install a new one just make me pay for the part not the labor And I Will never be back there again And I will not recommend them to anybody Horrible customer service

Positive experience: None of the employees were wearing masks. I'm sure glad I was wearing one because the woman who waited on me coughied and gagged the entire time.

Negative experience: Warning about car batteries—We purchased 3 car batteries for 3 different vehicles within a couple of months. Within approximately one year, 2 of the 3 batteries failed to hold a charge, and we had to have roadside assistance come jump the vehicles multiple times. When we contacted AAA, we were told that it was our fault. We were told we were not driving the cars frequently, but both were only sitting for max of a few days. We paid for a parasitic draw test for one of the cars, which showed all was fine. We asked for a replacement battery or to pro-rate the two failing batteries, and we were told that would not be possible. So now we have 2 batteries that do not hold a charge and have used several of our roadside assistance calls for the batteries, which also were denied to be reinstated. Therefore, we now have to drive our vehicles with our own jumper cables with the expectation that the batteries may fail at any time. I would have thought AAA would have been more flexible since I have been a member and used their services for over 25 years. Therefore, our membership will be discontinued after this year. Update: AAA contacted us and told us to prove that the batteries were faulty. We explained that they lose their charge frequently, leaving us with dead batteries and roadside requests multiple times. They didn't believe us, and of course, blamed us for the failed batteries. The "best" part? One of the car batteries has died again. Please save yourself some time, frustration, and roadside assistance calls--get your automotive batteries elsewhere.

Negative experience: I took my car in the Friday before Labor Day weekend for a simple oil change. Unbeknownst to Me the Technician who serviced my car did not properly secure my hood. As a result, I left this service center & jumped on I-75,,,, I didn't get far before my hood flew open crashing into my windshield causing major damage to my vehicle. It was ONLY by the grace of GOD that I wasn't injured. Thank GOD I was able to pull off to the shoulder of the Interstate w/o causing a crash. This could have been avoided. Due to AAA Tire & Auto Service Center (in Troy, OH) Negligence in simply securing my hood,,, I was left stranded w/NO vehicle for Labor Day weekend. Moreover, because of the holiday there were NO rentals available. I had to hitch a ride w/the Tow Truck service guy to get back home. Since, the incident/accident this service center has failed to take responsibility for their actions of almost $4000 worth of damage. I am shocked, even stunned by this companies disposition in this matter. Especially, because it was N fault of my own. The proper response should have been to do their Due Diligence in investigating this matter & then responding accordingly. Instead, they had the audacity to cop an attitude w/me the victim & deny bringing RESOLVE & RESOLUTION ( in a Matter they Caused). I called immediately!!! After this incident took place. My call was recorded & I was given an incident report #. A tow was sent out to me about 45min later. Sadly, the Tow Guy was more concerned & accommodating then they were. I am still in Extreme Disbelief that AAA Tire & Auto Center (Troy, OH) has handled this affair this way.

Fantastic experience: I have had 25 years of of AAA service I find a very helpful every time I go in for Maps they're very helpful in getting them for me just like this time I want to get maps of Ohio and surrounding areas and they were more than helpful to give me what I wanted and they help me every time I have a problem on the highway I have no problems with AAA whatsoever I will keep them and my wallet for a long time to go

Negative experience: I am super disappointed in the new store. I went to pay my membership and she didn't give me a receipt. She said it wouldn't print and nobody was around to help her. She had no idea if she could text me my receipt, email me or if I could go on an app. She seemed grass green. She said it was in the "system". I guess I'll have to have faith. I know I'll never go to your auto center again. I expected to get a discount on tires since I am a member. Nope. I could have gotten cheaper tires down the road at a competing company, which I did after buying 2 tires at this shop. Plus the man was pushy, trying to get me to buy the most expensive tires they had. I trusted AAA to look out after their members . What a huge disapointment this new store was.

Fantastic experience: great experience with Chris. he helped me upgrade my AAA membership and offered some other suggestions. you can't go wrong with a great company and a great person like Chris to guide me to the best choice for me and my family thank you AAA.
