Fantastic experience: After our first experience with Kathy at Windy City Travel, it was an easy decision to have her plan our next trip to Europe. This time, we were headed to France for two weeks and the trip couldn't have been more magical. Once again, Kathy listened to what we wanted, offered some great advice and planned everything accordingly. The tours that she booked were wonderful, the hotels spectacular, and everything went according to a well-detailed plan. Fantastic experience: Peru - March 2025 We recently visited Peru with Windy City Travel in partnership with WBBM and had an exceptional experience! We traveled through Lima, Sacred Valley/Cusco and Machu Picchu. The planning and execution of the trip was done in a very efficient manner utilizing all local modes of transportation. The selection of lodging, meals and planned excursions was excellent and service was great in all locations! Knowledge of the areas and attention to detail enhanced the success of the trip. Fantastic experience: What an epic trip! Thanks to Lynn, owner and tour lead for the Peru Machu Picchu trip from the beginning to end. Lynn and her staff made it so easy for us that we need to do was to show up and be ready on time for all our excursions. Whether you're planning a relaxing beach getaway or an adventurous South African safari, she handles it all! She even pulled off the impossible by booking us a last-minute trip to Cancun just two weeks before winter break—the busiest time of the year! She makes every trip stress-free and enjoyable. If you need a travel agent who truly goes above and beyond, she's the one!

Fantastic experience: Working with Cassie made my potentially overwhelming vacation planning experience for a large group, a breeze. She helped us make a decision on a trip that would be the best experience for a group of all ages ranging from Gen Alpha to Boomers. Her cruise recommendation was a hit and my daughter said it was the best vacation we've ever had. Because of Cassie's experience, she was able to provide valuable insight on flights, meals, transportation and entertainment. She was also very patient with all of our questions. I highly recommend working with Cassie and look forward to working with her again in the future.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough great things about Kathy with Windy City Travel! Kathy was so attentive to our requests and responsive throughout the entire process. Our trip to Iceland and Sweden (Oct/Nov 2024) would not have been what it was without her!

Negative experience: I used Windy City Travel to book rooms at a resort in Mexico for my destination wedding, and I CANNOT recommend this agency under any circumstances. Our experience with Lynn and Dana was plagued by frequent errors, including incorrect invoices, typos, and missing room reservations and transfers. Their lack of attention to detail caused significant issues, such as guests being unable to check in and being sent to the wrong resort. The customer service was terrible, and agents often refused to assist with basic tasks like tracking payments and reservations. The agents avoided accountability for their mistakes, took a long time to respond to communications, and engaged in misleading sales practices. Despite providing clear, organized documentation to help, my partner and I had to double-check everything due to repeated errors, both large and small. Out of all the vendors we used for our wedding, this was easily the hardest to work with and the only vendor who gave us any problems. After our trip was complete, guests lets us know that the travel agency was not helpful. Worse, the agency kept contacting our guests after the wedding to pressure them into providing positive reviews despite their negative experiences. Acting in good faith, both myself and my partner offered to provide the agency with constructive feedback after our wedding, but they refused to meet and did not communicate further. This continues a pattern of bad customer service. Do yourself a favor and avoid this agency—you’ll be better off with anyone else.

Fantastic experience: Kathy planned an amazing trip for us to Ireland and Italy a few years ago, so it made perfect sense for us to have her plan our 2-week trip to Amsterdam and Greece this year. She booked all of our various flights and ferry rides, which made things much easier on our end. Our Amsterdam hotel was perfect—right in the middle of the city where we could walk everywhere. She scheduled a private tour of the Van Gogh Museum and meeting up with the guide was easy. In Greece, we visited Athens, Paros and Santorini and every piece of the trip was seamless. Again, every hotel was in a perfect location for us and there were absolutely no glitches! Fantastic experience: We used this agency and Adrian Hall specifically to plan our honeymoon to Italy. Adrian completely captured what we were looking for at every hotel and planned event. Truly the trip of a lifetime, and we’re so happy that Adrian helped us with it! 10/10 would recommend his services!

Fantastic experience: ICELAND September 2024 Our 10 day trip to Iceland in early fall was great! We are grateful for all the hotel selections, sight recommendations, assistance with dinner reservations and adventurous excursions suggested by our travel agent at Windy City Travel. Iceland has such a diverse topography. We took our time, rented a car and explored volcanoes by foot and air, trekked glaciers, viewed numerous waterfalls from many viewpoints and even snorkeled the chilly waters of the Continental Divide. Words cannot begin to describe the beauty and adventure of this island. If relaxation sounds appealing to you, stay at The Retreat (5 stars) and stay in your bathrobe and slippers all day and enjoy fabulous Icelandic cuisine in the evening. Iceland has a magical charm, not to be missed! We will be calling Kathy again to help us plan our next destination! MOROCCO April 2024 We just came back from an amazing trip to Morocco! Kathy helped us create some magical days. We rode camels in the Sahara desert at sunset. We took a hot air balloon ride at sunrise outside of Marrakech. We hiked in the High Atlas Mountains and visited a Berber family. We tasted some great tagines. The English speaking guide and driver that she arranged were exceptional. From organizing our stay in beautiful and comfy hotels to setting up adventures, Kathy Allinson helped us plan and create many great memories.

Fantastic experience: Just home from Portugal. Another great trip through Windy City Travel. Kathy did an amazing job. Two free hotel upgrades, because she works with many great hotel properties. (nice to walk in a see complimentary wine). Great variety of private and group tours. Very thorough, I never worry about details. For example: "Remember, the ferry leaves on the half hour, not the hour". Plenty of free time. This was my 4th trip with Windy City. I'm a TSA Trusted Traveler, and Kathy is my Trusted Travel Agent.

Fantastic experience: Kathy from Windy City Travel did great job with our 50th wedding trip to Italy. There were a lot of moving pieces to put together and it all worked out beautifully. The hotels, guides, trains, and other transportation were seamless. Kathy was even able to provide special room amenities and upgrades through her hotel contacts- and the best was getting my wife and I upgraded to the Presidential Suite at our Lake Como hotel. Fantastic experience: Windy City did a really good job planning my vacation to Morocco. Deni, our point of contact, did a good job of leveraging his local resources and we were always treated with the upmost care during our trip. We didn’t think our stay at the La Mamounia could ever be matched, but Windy City’s suggestion to stay at the Kasbah Tamadot at the end of the trip was amazing! Our local guide and driver were always going over and beyond our expectations as well.

Fantastic experience: Dana did an amazing job of planning our European vacation! She took the stress out of trip planning by finding great hotels, coordinating all of our transportation, providing links to tour/activity options etc. When we had unexpected train cancellations during our trip, she contacted us right away and rebooked our tickets. Windy City also uses an app that had everything in it, which made it so easy to find our reservations, tickets etc! Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: Sandi did a wonderful job of communicating with me before and after our vacation to Punta Cana. She called a few days before departure to check in with us and answer any questions we had. She continued thru email throughout our trip to make sure everything was going smoothly. I would highly recommend Windy City Travel for anyone’s vacation needs. A big thumbs up. A job well done. We stayed at the VIK CAYENA. I would highly encourage the upgrade from VIK Arena. Private pool, bar, beach area and restaurant. Rooms a little outdated but grounds are very nice. Food was exceptional for a resort. A great place to stay for adults that want nothing but leisure time.

Fantastic experience: I utilized Windy City Travel (Kathy) to help with many aspects of my trips to Europe.Two years ago, I planned a WWI and a WWII trip for my 2 sons in law and my 12 year old grandson. We began in London, then on to Normandy, Paris, Belgium, Luxembourg, and finally Germany. Kathy arranged our air travel, hotels, car rentals, and train trips. Every aspect of the trip was flawless. Also, I just returned from a two week trip to Italy, with my 2 daughters and my girlfriend. Fantastic experience: We just returned from a wonderful family trip to Italy arranged by Kathy Allinson at Windy City Travel. Hotel selections were superbly chosen for accommodations and convenient locations. The pre-arranged tours were comprehensive and led by very knowledgeable guides. Our tours brought us to the front of what would have been staggeringly long general admission lines...without the pre-arrangements, we NEVER would have been able to experience everything we did in the time we had. Kathy was a valuable resource leading up to the trip answering our questions. She even responded to a couple of emails when we had questions in Italy. The trip was everything we hoped it would be and I would use Windy City and Kathy again in a heartbeat.

Positive experience: I just returned from A trip to the Scanadavian Capitals. It was a very nice trip I believe that Windy City Travels is a good resource for you to set-up a relationship. I personally need to be better educated on traveling solo since I was recently widowed. I believe that long bus rides abd staying at multiple hotels can be tiring when you get a bit older. So what I am saying is “ become a better educated consumer. The service, follow/up by Paula was very professional. I like having one point person.

Fantastic experience: Kathy helped us plan the most incredible trip to Italy. This was our second time working with her and we have referred numerous friends and family members. Per usual she gave us excellent recommendations for hotels in Rome, Tuscany, and Lake Como. She coordinated our trains and transfers which allowed us to see many parts of the country without worrying about the logistics. The local guide who took us through the Vatican and Roman ruins was delightful and informative, as were all of our drivers throughout the trip. Fantastic experience: Kathy Allinson organized a wonderful trip . Lodging in London, Brussels and Amsterdam was great and well located- particularly Hotel Amigo in Brussels. The Westminster Abbey private tour was fascinating and the Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Captain Storm was beautiful. Everything was well organized and the guides were knowledgable and entertaining. I hope to have Kathy organize another trip for me next year.

Every tour seemed like a master class of the area and further peaked our interest to learn more and more. Fantastic experience: Our honeymoon to Italy was the first time we used a travel agent, and we will only use Kathy and Windy City travel in the future. Kathy was kind, professional, and wonderful to work with and she has a very strong knowledge of Italy (having been there many many times herself) and has the perfect intuition on the details and rhythm of a vacation to Europe. Fantastic experience: After a last-minute cancellation from a tour company I had booked with directly, I called Windy City Travel in a panic and Deni took care of me. Within just a few hours Deni was able to find a replacement Moroccan tour for me which was actually a much better tour AND I didn't need to change my plane tickets (booked through Dan at Windy City Travel). Fantastic experience: Kathy has always done an amazing job planning our trips. For our trip to Prague, Vienna & Budapest she provided us with 3 hotel options for each city and several tour options. The hotels we selected were fabulous and we received an upgrade at each hotel. From the moment we arrived in Prague upon seeing our driver everything was seamless. Every tour guide was top notch and so very interesting. Kathy provided us with an app that had our entire itinerary so all we had to do was look at the app for our tickets, reservations etc. I appreciate that she gives us several options of things to do in each city. Kathy arranged all our transportation - train tickets, shuttle service to airports etc. We have been working with Kathy for 15 years and she never disappoints. Fantastic experience: Cassie planned a fantastic cruise for me and 13 of my friends. Ages in the group ranged from 13-80 and there was something for everyone! So thoughtful in figuring out transfers to the ship, things to do during stops, and a special lunch at a specialty restaurant where we could all come together and dine on delicious Italian food. It was an amazing way to kick off 2024 and a ton of "big" birthdays within the group. I would go on ANY trip that Cassie planned!

Fantastic experience: We had an AMAZING trip (13 of us-3 families) planned by Kathy Allinson from Windy City Travel to Italy Summer 2023. We traveled for 12 days through Italy (Sorrento, Amalfi Coast, Rome and Florence) with 6 adults and 7 teenagers, and Kathy managed to find a balance of tours, activities, and food so that every person on the trip declared it the best trip of their lives! Door to door transportation and airport pickups, beautiful hotels, great locations everywhere for food and exploring, wine tours, Amalfi Coast tour that saved all three marriages for no one having to drive, cliff jumping for the teens, lazy pool days, private Colosseum tour, and attending Calcio Storico in Florence. There was so much more, but those were definite highlights. It was unforgettable, and Kathy did a great job working with us from budget to activities based on input. It was all organized and easy, with numbers for local vendors to assist if there were any problems. We can't wait to do another trip and will 100% be calling Kathy.

Fantastic experience: I have worked with Lynn and her team at Windy City Travel to plan multiple family trips over the last several years. Lynn has gotten to know our family, including our likes and dislikes, and curates an itinerary according to our preferences. Lynn’s knowledge and the team’s care and attention to detail gives me a level of confidence that makes the trip so much more enjoyable. Our most recent trip to Costa Rica 12/16/23 to 12/23/23 was wonderful. We stayed in the La Fortuna area and also on the Pacific coast. Both hotels were wonderful, the transport and guides with Memorable Costa Rica were top-notch, and the tours were breathtaking and educational! Highly, highly recommend Windy City Travel.

Positive experience: Traveling abroad can be challenging at best and overwhelming at worst. Which is why my partner and I contacted Windy City Travel for help planning a 10-night trip to Italy. And help is what we got from travel advisor Deni Mayer, who immediately shared his years of experience, knowledge and passion to work on our behalf. He booked hotels, flights and additional transportation within the country, along with a few tours we were interested in. Fantastic experience: If you are planning a honeymoon please consider Windy City travel!! We were helped by Deni to plan our honeymoon in Bali (he specializes in Southeast Asia, so request him if that’s where you’re going). It took all the stress out of planning, which honestly after planning a wedding there’s no way we could have planned both. Each day was planned to PERFECTION and all airport transfers, airline changes and hotels were handled by him and it was SO smooth. We even got a bunch of free perks (free food vouchers) and free upgrades based on the company’s good standing with the luxury resorts. Below are a few pictures from our excursions deni set up for us. We had the time of our life and it was the perfect de-stress after our wedding day. :)

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend using Windy City Travel to plan your next destination trip. With the help of Kathy A. from Windy City Travel, I was able to have my dream trip to Greece come true. We were able to experience the many different parts of Greece; Athens, Mykonos, Paros and Santorini. This was my 1st time out of the country and was so nervous and did not know what to expect. Kathy made all the arrangements for our transportation and hotels and even booked a tour of the Acropolis in Athens. Everything on our trip worked out seamlessly and exceeded my expectations. I was very pleased with my experience as Kathy made it stress free, and I will definitely be using Windy City Travel again for my next trip!

Fantastic experience: We just got back from our trip yesterday and everything was excellent. After discussing our ideal vacation, Patsy H. at Windy City Travel, presented and priced out several resorts which had all of our wants. I had never worked with a travel agent before and am so happy we did! We felt confident in our vacation plans and the resort we ultimately picked, Secrets Maroma, was perfect.

Fantastic experience: Having Kathy Allinson help us plan an itinerary and arrange transportation, lodging, and tours was key to our beautiful trip to Venice, Florence and Rome! Her caring goes beyond booking, as she called on our way to the airport to inform us of a pending train strike in Florence and how best to navigate our options. In Rome we decided to switch tours. A simple email to Kathy and she was right on it. You will not get this service and experience booking directly through the internet. Fantastic experience: Kathy A from Windy City Travel was very easy to work with and helped our family plan a 10 day trip to Scotland and Ireland which was spectacular. She gave us guidance, recommendations and options. She also was honest and steered us in the right direction in regards to our accommodations, day trips and full itinerary. She is an experienced traveler and was familiar with our destinations. We had a glitch with an airline ticket and their team immediately worked on resolving it while we went about our day. Fantastic experience: Kathy blended the perfect mix of comfort and activity into our 9 day trip to Scotland. Having never been to Scotland and going with my 80 yo mother, her help with selecting accommodations, activities, transportation and tours was invaluable. We celebrated our milestone birthdays while on this trip and the scenery, culture and people did not disapoint. We did not want to return home.

Fantastic experience: Dana was great to work with. She listened and asked questions to understand what we wanted to do. She was timely in her responses, provided options and was extremely attentive to our requests. Dana shared insights and information into logistics we had not thought of and ensured every detail was covered. We had a phenomenal time and most importantly, were able to enjoy ourselves without worrying about details because it was taken care of.

Negative experience: I was told “we only handle international” but we can still assist you- never received a call.

Fantastic experience: Windy City Travel did an excellent job planning our trip to London and Paris. They listened to what our family of four looked forward to when travelling and planned an itinerary that reflected this. They also made some great tour recommendations that we would not have even thought of until they presented those options. All of the reservations they made for us (plane, train, hotel, private transfers and tours) went according to plan and were wonderful. Our agent was great with communication and followed up with us on a regular basis before and during our travel. I highly recommend Windy City Travel!

Negative experience: We had a trip to the UK planned by Windy City, via Avanti. Unfortunately during our trip we had a family emergency come up and had to depart emergently back to the US. We left many activities and hotel bookings uncompleted. We had purchased trip insurance prior to our departure through Windy City and Tripmate. After our return, come to find out, our insurance would not cover any of our cancellations. We had paid over $500.00 for the insurance, which i was led to believe was a "for any reason" type of policy, only to find out afterwards that wasn't the case. To be fair, Avanti did reimburse us for a one night stay at one hotel, out of 4 nights bookings. Overall, just be careful what you purchase. Completely understand the limitations and exclusions of any policies and don't rely upon verbal promises made.

Fantastic experience: Patsy H. was amazing at planning a trip for our group of 12 to Mexico. We were looking for a resort that we wouldn't need to leave in order to maximize our time there and decided on the XCaret after speaking with her about our goals and idea of a fun and exciting trip. She got us on the flights we needed and worked on our behalf with the hotel concierge on booking an excursion and asking our questions so we knew what to expect upon arrival. Every single person on our trip had a wonderful time, no complaints about anything and that is hard to do with 12 very different personalities! Thank you, Patsy and Windy City Travel, we appreciate it!

Fantastic experience: Moon Palace in Ocho Rios, Jamaica was the best all-inclusive resort that I've been to. It was beautiful and the staff of over 1,200 people was so gracious and kind TO EVERYONE!!! They were great and so were the amenities. Plenty of food and entertainment was offered. If you have a chance to go there, do so. The only downside was the 2.5 hour ride from the Montego Bay Airport to the resort in O.R.!!!

Negative experience: Reached out for assistance in planning a cruise and received zero response or help.

Positive experience: I had a disappointing experience with Windy City Travel. I was planning a trip to Hong Kong with my family and needed some help. I followed the procedure and left a message on the website. I will say the response time was good. An agent named Paula called me back and asked me for the reason of our trip because "it was so last minute". I explained the reason for our trip and she proceeded to tell me how expensive the ticket prices were. I was well aware of the ticket prices but I needed help trying to find the best deal. At no time, did Paula ask me about our budget and how much we were prepared to spend. She just proceeded to tell me how expensive the ticket prices were and she did not seem that interested in helping me. For future reference, at least find out how much I am willing to pay before you dismiss a potential customer.

Fantastic experience: Can't sing enough praises for the trip planned by Lynn and her staff. Across 3 states - Colorado, Utah, and Nevada - the trip was an amazing memory for our 30th Anniversary. Lynn did not just book flights, car and hotels, but recommended activities and restaurants along the way so we didn't have to think about much. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: My family and I had scheduled a trip to Disney World with Anne W. at your agency she spent a lot of time working with us and getting things right. The time drew near to the date when we were to leave and hurricane Ian had a different idea. We called Anne and she worked for us to get our trip rescheduled and we are now looking forward to our new departure date. I work in the Customer Service area and I know you get plenty of emails with customers complaining so I thought I would drop you a line to let you know how hard my family and I think that Anne worked for us. We will continue to work with your agency going forward.

Fantastic experience: Kathy Allinson of Windy City Travel did a fantastic job helping us plan the trip of a lifetime to Italy for 2 weeks. Kathy helped us plan all of the hotels, tours, transportation, train tickets, etc., and then we had to postpone due to to Covid 2 1/ 2 years ago. We decided to go this September, and Kathy picked right back up on the all of the details of our trip, and re-booked everything, and it was the best trip ever, in every way! The hotels were wonderful, great locations and amenities, and always a fabulous view. The itinerary was perfect, tours were wonderful, so great to have all of our transportation pre-arranged including train tickets, drivers, and a rental car. We would recommend Kathy and Windy City Travel, and definitely hope to travel again soon and will call Kathy for sure!

Fantastic experience: Lynn Farrell at Windy City Travel arranged a perfect trip to Greece for us, including stays in Athens, Santorini, and Crete. We were a party of five, including one family member who traveled only for a week, while the remaining four had a two-week trip. The person who needed to return to the 'States after one week also needed special assistance with that return, due to continuing recovery from knee surgery. Lynn set up all the transfers, special airport assistance for our temporarily disabled passenger, and inter-Greece air flights and ferry tickets. The hotels were all great, particularly in Santorini and Crete, the reservations were all perfect, including a van in Crete, and the trip really was seamless and utterly worry-free. We were able to concentrate on having a wonderful time and making the most of the fascinating spots we visited. We are now devoted fans of Windy City Travel, with special thanks to owner Lynn Farrell.

Fantastic experience: Amanda at Windy City Travel did a fantastic job of arranging our 3 week honeymoon in Italy. We visited a number of different cities and Amanda picked great hotels in each city that were within our budget and also arranged all of our train travel and tours/excursions. We just returned from our 3rd European vacation in the last 8 years planned by Kathy Allinson and she did it AGAIN! We had a tall order this time- plan a trip in 3 very diverse areas (Prague/Dolomites/Spain) at the request of family members), and make it a trip that everyone in our active family would enjoy. She came through with flying colors- arranging all tours, hotels, transfers, air, rental car, and rail transportation to get us where we wanted to go. We had the 2-week trip of a lifetime! Also- when an airline cancelled our flight from Amsterdam to Prague, Kathy and team worked on the weekend to readjust our tours and transfers to ensure we kept as much of our vacation intact as possible. We so appreciate her attention to detail, customer service, and excellent knowledge and suggestions about European travel. Definitely call her if you're thinking of making a trip!

Fantastic experience: I worked for weeks trying to plan the perfect first Caribbean vacation for me and my boyfriend. After much frustration and trying to figure out if I was finding the right places, if the prices were right, and if the flights would be too expensive, I decided to find a travel agent. I found Windy City Travel based on reviews, and was I glad I decided to reach out to them. Our travel agent Lindsy was so great to work with! We had one conversation and I told her my travel desires and she took it from there. She was very accommodating and got several packages together for us right away! We had our first of many AMAZING vacations and can't wait to book more! Unfortunately our phones got wet on one of the bar cruises we went on and we didn't get many pics but our first trip to Jamaica was everything we dreamed it would be! We're already looking forward to our next vacation adventure and booking with Windy City Travel!!
