Negative experience: April 3 2025 AAA was sending irresponsible unethical subcontractors to my non involved posted private property on a wild goose chase for a car broken down on a state highway 1.5 miles away first at 630am boondocks motors then A’stowing at 145pm with multiple trucks Both clown show outfits passed multiple posted private property signs and continued to enter a non involved property illegally. This is supposed to be the service that rescues stranded motorists? You’re better off finding a legit professional responsible service provider. I took the time to file a complaint in detail and wasn’t contacted. I followed up today with zero explanation of why this happened will pursue trespass charges. Wishing you class and professionalism
Fantastic experience: What a great experience at local AAA! We needed 2 sets of passport photos. A young female employee greeted us with a smile and offered to help. She also suggested a service to us. She did everything right and made us feel welcomed. Textbook perfect customer service. Thank you and we highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: I needed a new car battery in Portland, ME and Matthew W. was sent to assist. He was incredibly friendly, helpful, and completed the battery exchange in a very timely manner. It was a super pleasant and seamless experience. I am grateful AAA and Matthew were able to help out on a cold, winter night.
Fantastic experience: On Sunday Feb. 9th we request a battery jump and in a short time Rory showed up. We have been members for 36 years and I wanted to compliment Rory on his professionalism and quick resolution of out minor problem. He took the initiative to help pull our car out of a parking spot and made our problem go away. THANKS RORY!!

Negative experience: What has happened to this company? Awful service Last saturday I dealt with one of the rudest employees I have ever encountered, over a simple jumpstart. The guy was seething as soon as he arrived and treated me like an enemy. Car was dead again the next day, so I called AAA to speak with a supervisor. 40 minutes on hold being transferred between various divisions, and I ended up cancelling my roadtrip that day and giving up. Nobody had access to my service history and every time I got transferred it would be two more requests for member ID. Finally got a polite battery tech to stop by yesterday, but the battery was too low for him to test it (AAA sold me this battery a little over a year ago). So it got jumped again and I was told to drive it to recharge. Car is dead again today, so surely the battery will be once again "too low" to diagnose? Anyone? Is this the best this company can do now? Shameful
Fantastic experience: Sharing my experience with AAA on the evening of 12.20.24: I experienced a flat tire just outside of the Costco shopping center. When I called, I was able to provide my exact GPS location. The roadside assistance app estimated time of arrival as 45 minutes, but they arrived much earlier than anticipated and pulled right up to my car in that huge parking lot. When the young man saw that I was in a left foot aircast and on crutches, he told me to stay in the car and he would take care of everything, and he did. The tire was not repairable. He walked over to the Costco Tire center and asked if they could look into replacing my tires. He also told me he would wait to make sure I had resolution. I was so grateful for his kindness and integrity. We have been AAA members for as long as I can remember, and have experienced various car issues over the years. Each experience has been positive. They have gotten us back on the road or gotten our car to the repair shop quickly. Thank you AAA for your efficient and friendly service!
Negative experience: First snow storm my daughter granddaughter + great grand daughter got stuck in minot me , they called AAA and said t here nothing they could do call state police. What good is having aaa. If can,t help WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY

I'm on the phone all day with them and they keep transferring me to next customer service representative that way I have to explain my self all over again for 12 times . Still on the phone and no help. They want me to pay some fee Keep in mine I have AAA membership for over 22 years
Fantastic experience: Such a positive experience! Had a flat tire and called AAA to help. Not only did the technician arrive before his estimated time of arrival, but we were greeted by an enthusiastic, friendly and confident guy ready to tackle the job. Negative experience: AAA service has gone into the toilet. Don’t waste your money. They used to be an amazing service for breakdowns and insurance but no more. They had me wait for over 14 hours recently in 93 degree weather on one service call out of state in a nasty neighborhood of a big city down south. They pulled a similar stunt on December 7, 2023. They said a technician was on the way at first. Then it turned into four hours. Then they texted me that they didn’t know when they’d pick me up. This time I was deep in the wilderness. I cancelled the service request yet they still charged me for a service call and I just tried to redo the same call for the same car same origin and destination but they informed me they would need to bill me for the tow. I am not renewing the AAA CARDS FAMILY WIDE. That totals over eight hundred dollars a year. I recommend you do the same. I’m a disabled Vet with no time or money for games. Shout out to ALL my fellow vets out there - I’ve got your six here. Run don’t walk away from these scam artists!
Fantastic experience: Stellar service by Yvonne and Erik at the Portland, ME. office. They both went above and beyond to research and offer thoughtful advice on an upcoming, difficult trip. Really listened and not only had a well thought out plan, but seemed to sincerely care about my little 4 day trip-tick. Fabulous customer service!
Negative experience: I have been a member for 33 years and only needed tow service once and the one time I did, they said they couldn't tow me because my pickup had a plow on it at the time! I suggested they send a flatbed truck and I would pay the extra difference and they said that wasn't possible and they only way they would tow me was to take the plow off and leave it on the side of the road...ARE YOU KIDDING ME I asked?! Not only is that TOTALLY unsafe its illegal! When this year's membership expires, I QUIT and they will never see my business again or anybody else I can convince if they ask me what I think of AAA!

Negative experience: Spoke with the rudest dispatcher today at AAA when requesting a tow. After waiting over 3 hours, I called for an update and was upset at the lack of communication. This person named Marc (wouldn't give me his last name or his supervisors name) asked me if I thought I was more important than anyone else, and then raised his voice and threatened to cancel my tow. I will never use AAA after this experience and intend on canceling my membership. Instead of behaving professionally, assuring me that someone would be responding his behavior was that of a teenager having a tantrum and was extremely unacceptable.

Negative experience: You pay for roadside assistance, but when you need it, they tell you that nobody is available for an hour, then 2 hours, then 4.5 hours, then they tell you nobody is available at all. I will not be renewing with them. Terrible service, if you can even get any at all.
Positive experience: I love aaa except l wanted to use my moms account so I wouldn’t have to pay a towing fee again and she would of had to call which to me is a hassle when I know all of the information needed besides. Yes I had her permission!
Negative experience: My wife was on her way to work on the Saturday of 4th July weekend when her alternator went..she called AAA and was told it would be at least 2 hours and she would have to be at the car..she decided to go on to work,had a coworker pick her up and deal with the car later..on Tuesday the following week we drove the 90 mins to her car and called AAA..was told someone would call or text in 15 mins..we got a text saying someone would be there in an hour..20 mins later got another text saying running late will be there in about a hour and a half..2 hours go by,no show,no call, nothing.. call AAA again,they read text and don't have an answer..will have somebody call..same thing happened.. another 90 mins..call again,this time they give me the dispatcher..she said she would handle it..15 mins go by and a tow truck shows up..nice guy explains how he is the last to get called when no AAA driver wants the job because it's not profitable..he wasn't associated with AAA but bills threw a 3rd party...he was just down the street..5 plus hours we waited..I have been in the service industry for 35 years,you take the bad with the good..you signed up..but you have no problem leaving 2 60 plus year olds on the side of the road.. thinking twice about renewing
Negative experience: 11-year AAA customers here; we learned a hard lesson yesterday when AAA left us stranded on the Maine Turnpike. They couldn’t find a tow truck (so they claimed) and we had to arrange a private towing company ourselves. Customer service was pathetic. Save your money: quit AAA and get roadside assistance through your auto insurance company. You probably already have coverage! Dump AAA Northern New England!!
Negative experience: Hello, I have been a AAA member for years , I always had great service, until last week!! I needed a tow from the turnpike, about 5 miles from my home due to alternator failure. When my wife called AAA and got dispatch. They told her that they didn't service the turnpike and she needed to call turnpike authority!! They never heard of such absurdity !! They got the same response !! 140.00 $ later, for 4 miles tow !! I'm still waiting to be reimbursed!! What's going on with AAA ??!! We will find a different provider! I don't understand why such a big company would do that !!
Negative experience: Horrible. Pressing buttons for menu choices...does not work. Text links do not work. Listening to ad after ad while on hold once I did get a human was completely maddening. Awful. Horrible. Finally, 40 minutes later, reached someone who helped me efficiently.

Negative experience: I have been a AAA member for 13 years. I have not had to use my roadside assistance for several years. I recently went off the road into a ditch. I called AAA and was told it would be two hours as they were busy. I get it. I hung up and waited. A hour later I received a call from AAA that they were not coming and I would need to find my own garage to help or I could call back tomorrow. I made my own arrangements and hours later was able to free the car. I called AAA to complain as I am paying for a service they didn’t provide to me. I was met with hostility and told they were too busy to help me and they were sorry. That was it. They were sorry. Why have a membership then when they can just decide not to help you.
Negative experience: My 17 year old daughter’s car wouldn’t start when she came out of a business on Marginal Way. Because we didn’t want her waiting for the tow truck alone, my husband took her place. 5 hours after the initial call and two of us are still sitting here and have just been told that our only option is to leave the car UNLOCKED in a private business’s parking lot overnight. They won’t tow it 30 miles to Brunswick because it is raining, but supposedly they will tow it tomorrow in a snowstorm. The car will likely be impounded if left here, as the business will need to plow their lot tomorrow. We’ve been AAA members for decades and have never received worse customer service. I can only imagine if my child had been stuck on the side of the road and not accessible to us. Customer service failure of massive proportions. Not sure what we are paying for with our Plus membership. Zero stars would be gracious.

Negative experience: Since the start of the week, January 3, 2022, I have tried to access my aaa.com account on the aaa website, to no avail. It would not accept my password or my username. I called AAA on Monday and an 'insurance' person attempted to help. It became abundantly clear he did not have th e skill set to resolve the problem. Today, I called again. Yet another 'insurance' person answered. The boy was sarcastic and not at all helpful. He supposedly consulted his 'boss' who advised him to just give me an email address to solve the problem....but not before greedily trying to obtain my renewal payment first. He failed on both counts.
Negative experience: I was very disappointed with AAA. I have been a long time member. I needed to get my car jumped, the temperature was in the mid 30's and I had my 96 yr.old mother with me.I clearly communicated my circumstances with 2 dispatchers. It took 2 hours from the time of my call to the arrival of AAA service. In a major city, this response rate is unacceptable. Luckily a good Samaritan ended coming to our assistance and we were warmly and safely on our way.
Negative experience: Made a request at 9:00PM. Was quoted first they would be here at 10:20. Now it’s 10:45-11:15. I tried to call at 10:12, was waiting for 30 minutes and hung up because no one was answering. Every time I try to track my request it just sends me to submitting a new request. Quite frustrated at how long it is taking for a battery jump, and with how I am unable to speak to someone about my request.
Negative experience: On 11/28/21, my 17 year old daughter went off the road in a very isolated rural area in NH. She called AAA and was told help would be dispatched to her location within an hour. Two and a half hours later, and more than 45 minutes on hold to try and get an update, she still had not been helped nor was she able to speak to a live person on the phone. This is a teenaged girl, alone and in the dark in an isolated area. A tow truck did show up at one point and told her he was enroute to an abandoned vehicle a half mile away that needed to be towed and that he would come help her on his way back by. He never came back. Apparently AAA finds an empty abandoned vehicle a priority over a scared teenage girl alone in the dark. If you were thinking about getting an AAA membership, don't bother.....they are terrible.
Fantastic experience: I still love AAA,....as I'm sure many do, but is it me ?;...or has their card benefits you receive through. Basic membership actually get skimpier ,than past years' that were standard when I became a member through my parents; ...?? I will withhold the number of years that have flowed In- between since; However, I've been a member in good-standing for several decades... Every couple years , - I've noticed changes to their wording , Basicly alluding to these specific changes ,with road side assisted calls that were once unlimited ,. Become 5 ,then dwindle to the current allowed in one year - a mere 2. Did their price points also adjust accordingly ,- is down? That , is a confirmed.negative , I hate to say. Today, yes : I still remain a member, Whether I left my compartment lighting on,subsiquentally draining my battery, or Locked my keys inside; their to oar service is unmatched. .I realize that they deal with local businesses to contract this specific. support ,incl.towing... I've never had a time I received bad service . Not once in all these years; So even if as the benefits grow ever- scrawny , with benefits falling off for my patronage. When they should be added for members consistant, & loyal to their Bottom -line, .& their products, - I still cannot jump a vehicle ,nor do I want to;
Fantastic experience: Saved over $1100 over Allstate in 5 policies . We had not claims in 30 plus years and were paying the highest rates even with over 810 credit rating. I tell everyone who asks how bad Allstate is and look to AAA for great savings

Negative experience: My experience was not good...I am a 71 yr old woman ..I hit something on the road causing a flat tire. I enrolled ( same day I got flat tire) with AAA...Was told there would be an additional $ 75.00 fee for " same day" service. Not happy about that fee ..so I left my vehicle in a supermarket parking overnight in order to avoid the $ 75.00 fee... Went to my vehicle at 700am next day and placed a service call...was told someone would help me at 745am..then received a text saying the time will now be 830am..at 845am, I again called for service telling them no one showed up..was told no service call had been placed...I told the person I had received text messages and calls from AAA saying someone was coming to help me..he told me to hang on...he returned confirming my name, vehicle & the location where I'm waiting for help..My location is Portland Maine...he informed me my call was dispatched to go to Portland, AK not Portland, Me..asked me to hold on...came back and informed me there was a " local " AAA person about 10 miles away and would be arriving in 30 min .... It's now 930am...He did show up at approximately at 10am and changed my tire...so 3 & 1/2 hrs later ( all the while I'm still waiting in the parking lot) my tire was removed and replaced with a temporary tire in order for me to get to a garage.. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE....!!..I have yet to call AAA customer service to report this experience but I will most definitely be in touch with them...!! Not a happy customer.!!

Negative experience: Worst service I ever had! Think about the service before committing! They told me they had very few people in the office as I'm stranded 4 hours + with no way to get help. The app is useless when there's no one there arranging the dispatch to come help you. I arranged my own tow after more than 4 hours stranded in sweltering heat. They maybe should think about getting out of the service if they can't provide the service I pay for. In my experience my car wouldn't start but electrical did work. When the first AAA provider came in a pickup, he tested the battery and it looked good. We both figured it's the starter. He called into his dispatch and said I'll need a tow vehicle to service garage. This happened in the morning maybe 11am. I kept waiting for the tow truck and the app says the tow was ready and to the garage and will be there soon. It gave an eta of 55 minutes and that came and went and I clicked to track technician and it says was on the way and now another eta of 55 minutes. Again in 55 minutes no show. So I canceled the tow and started over requesting a new tow to same place. By now I have been sitting in the Home Depot parking lot for about 3 hours. When the new eta passed I called the garage to see if there was somebody local to come get the car. He gave me two tow companies and I called Willies Towing right in Windham and they said sure be right over. In about 15 minutes they showed up and I explained and he took my aaa card and registration photos and said all set. He said I tow for AAA and no one called me and we have two trucks available today. Then I get a call from aaa and said we got someone on they way and I said well I got someone local and they are coming right over. I said I’ve been here hours and no one showed up. They said they would bill aaa. Aaa then asks so do we cancel our tow they are on the way? I said yes I have someone coming from this same town right now after I called. Then aaa says well we have very small staff in the office and very few available trucks. I am not sure if we are keeping the plan or not this is crazy the driver said we have been right here no one called us.
Fantastic experience: We had a flat tire in Harrison ME. We called AAA, very pleasant rep, gave an approximate time of arrival. She wasn't to far off the time. Flat changed in 25 mins. Tow truck driver was excellent. PS ( it was raining)

Negative experience: There are a 18 people all met here in Franklin NH to travel down south to RI for vacation. After waiting an hour and a half and after the texts saying they have dispatched a truck to tow one of our vehicles, Brenden from Portland called and said, sorry we can't tow you tonight we'll try tomorrow. We said well we're in the road that has no parking and is there anything you can do for us? He said flat out no you can talk to someone tomorrow if you like. Then said we heard you were getting the car towed half way with one membership then continuing with another members. We said yes we told the lady that when we first called he said well we're not towing you. In shock my friend hung up. Then we called back to ask if that was really the reason Shannon from triple A Portland ME even more rude and condescending said yup your breaking the law. He said we didn't know! We were straight up and honest from the beginning! She said well that doesn't mean you weren't trying to pull a fast one! And she continues to say we will be watching your account so don't think you'll get away with it. All of us in total shock listening to this conversation on speaker said we cannot believe were being treated like thieves. We want it towed to Walmart automotive in Quincy Ma so we don't have to travel back 3 hour during our holiday to meet with a tow guy? She said sorry we're not towing you tonight and you'll have to speak with Corperate tomorrow! Basically the worst treatment we've ever had! All pay for our memberships year after year! So we didn't know give us a break. So all 18 of us are asking for refunds tomorrow and hope some of you will stand up to these bullies once and for all! Honestly what's the difference? You only get one 100 tow, so what if two separate members want to use there's at the same time? We paid for it! So now we're stranded and all have to rent rooms with no help from triple A because we we're honest! Don't make the same mistake!

Negative experience: Horrible! One of their contracted tow truck operators damaged my vehicle while transporting. After several hours on the phone, emails to the Portland office they have refused to hold the contractor liable nor offered to pay for the damage. There are other car club options, I suggest you vet them! AAA is NOT what they used to be!
Fantastic experience: My truck broke down in north conway,called aaa and was ready for the long wait( 1he plus ). Got a call from transport driver and he was there about 8 min. later. Great service.

Negative experience: If you ever find yourself in need of road side assistance, you would be better off walking then to trust your vehicle in the hands of unprofessional drivers. A driver with a vehicle on its deck cut in front of me with little regard to leaving me enough space. In an attempt to safely get around him, he turned his truck slightly into my lane, threatening pushing me into the ditch. Driving behavior like this should NOT be tolerated what so ever. I tried to call and complain but I wasn't able to reach any human, just robot prompts. Don't waste your time.
Fantastic experience: Friendly, arrived early, went above and beyond. I was so happy. I called about a flat tire. He diagnosed the problem, repaired it (not temporarily) and saved me a lot of hassle. The weather was cold with wet snow. I was in my warm car and he worked effienctly with a smile. I felt so badly I didn't have cash on me to tip him. I called AAA but they wouldn't give me his name or any way to reach him.
Negative experience: Worst experience I've ever had with a towing company. It was the AAA fleet that towed my car to the wrong location and that was on Thursday afternoon...it was friday I got a call from a garage saying they had my car and knew what was wrong with it. I explained to them that they shouldn't have my car and instead of correcting it right away AAA customer service employee Angela said they couldn't pay for the work that the garage did to it and wasn't sure if they could get my car back. Not only do I have 2 children, ne in which is a 2 month old, I also set up a time to have my car worked on by my mechanic so I wouldn't be without a car all weekend but apparently AAA tow truck company couldn't get my car to the right place so that didn't happen. Also they couldn't help me out with a rental so here i sit without a car and a brand new baby! Hopefully nothing goes wrong this weekend I'd hate to have to sue them for messing up and not helping a father trying to Christmas shop for his kids.

Fantastic experience: AAA has been a godsend to me and I have been a loyal customer since 1995 in various regions. I strongly recommend their premier membership, it is worth every cent. I have used them more times than I can count for unlocking and tow service. I have also gotten assistance with various misadventures involving flat tires, mud and snowbank extraction, battery restarts, and if you run out of gas in the middle of nowhere they will deliver enough to get you to a gas station. They provide discounts for repair shops, hotels, and will help you plan trips and create a customized triptik map among many other services. Their staff has always been extremely helpful and non-judgemental, they make your safety their priority. As a lone female driver I cannot stress enough how important this is! I have only had one negative encounter, it was with a tow truck driver that was not an actual AAA employee, just a local subcontractor. The guy was a crazy jerk, I reported it with AAA Member Experience Department, they took swift action and the driver was fired by the tow company. I know some auto insurance companies offer roadside assistance but they have limitations and if frequently used your premium can be affected, your data reported to Choicepoint, and in some cases even get you dropped from your plan. AAA does not take punitive measures with your data and they actually sponsored a Consumer Rights for Car Data initiative.

Fantastic experience: I needed battery service today and as usual AAA did an excellent job of sending out a knowledgeable, polite, and professional guy (Justin). I really appreciated that he did a great job of social distancing and wore a mask as well (as did I) and did a great job explaining the battery issue. He hooked the battery up to the analyzer thingy to test it. He thoroughly explained what the problem was and didn’t try to hard sell me a battery which he easily could have. I have never felt pressured by AAA to buy a battery or left confused as to what the problem was with the car. If you do need a battery AAA will bring the battery to you, install it, and it comes with a 3-year warranty. I’ve always gotten my batteries through them. I decided to have the car towed to a garage instead of dealing with the battery because there was another major issue with the car that would have prevented me from driving it enough to keep a battery charged. He asked me if I needed anything in the car and also if I needed any of the keys on the keyring - which I did and if it wasn’t for him asking me I would be without my house keys. He called the tow truck, left the keys on the visor for the truck, and let me know that they would put me keys in the drop box at the garage. Justin told me I didn’t even need to be out when they towed the car away. The tow truck was here within 15 minutes. I would highly recommend AAA. I have had such good experiences with them. Everyone they have sent has always been polite and took their time explaining things to me. The customer reps are also very nice and thorough. Thanks Justin and AAA!

Negative experience: Your website is terrible. It never lets me log in. I change my password and it still doesn't let me log in. I have changed my password 2x now today trying to log in and still won't let me. Very frustrating... I just want to get online and pay my bill.
Negative experience: I am on vacation from Alabama. When I first called the lady looked up my account number and said oh you are from Alabama. She sounded like they only serve new England people. I told her I was on vacation and then she helped me. I purchased AAA to have coverage in all states but to be served only near my home. Also in Connecticut I needed a tow truck and it took forever because in CT they can take paying customers b4 AAA.

Fantastic experience: I've gone down to this office to get an international driver's license made. This invloved getting a picture taken and filling out a small form. The lady who helped was extremely friendly and the entire process took about fifteen minutes. They have a large, comfortable wait area in case there is a line.
