Fantastic experience: I always wanted to learn to scuba dive, but never got around to it. Last year, I decided to go for it. Researching scuba shops in NYC and choosing a good one was a bit daunting. I visited Scuba Network and signed up for a class that day. Rishi and Fallon were the instructors for my pool sessions. I was assigned to Fallon and she was great! Rishi was very cool too! I was thinking of doing my Open Water Cert in Florida, but Fallon convinced me to do it in Bonaire this past February. And am I GLAD I did! It was AMAZING! After getting over my nerves for the firsts of everything: snorkel in open water, jump off the dock into the open water, first dive, first wreck, it was FANTASTIC. I had the best time ever! All the amazing marine life: sea turtles, variety of fishes, seahorses, eels, etc. The people on the trip were awesome as well as the instructors. Brandon, who works out of the Florida shop, helped me so much with my buoyancy and breathing. He's a fantastic instructor! Ryan was a great group leader and took care of everything on the trip. It was so great that I signed up for another trip in the summer! I highly recommend Scuba Network! The staff there is great and it's a great family/community they have created. The staff are experienced and knowledgeable. They're responsive to emails and questions. To recap: 1. Staff/Instructors - Awesome! Knowledgeable, friendly, and supportive. This is key especially if you always wanted to learn scuba, but are apprehensive and nervous. 2. Lessons - The pool and open water lessons were great. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be to do some of the skills. For the lessons, you can rent the gear you need or buy them. 3. Pricing - Reasonable or maybe even cheaper compared to other shops. With some of the other shops, it was hard to pin down the exact pricing and what was included. 4. Quality of Store - All your scuba needs are here. You get a discount on gear if you do the open water class with them. I opted to buy my own gear here because you can actually try out the wetsuits, fins, mask, etc. You can't do that online. Did I also mention a discount? The quality of gear is great. 5. Trips - The trips they offer are amazing and I wish I can do all of them! Especially if they're anything like the Bonaire trip. 6. Community - The community they've built here is amazing. 7. Location - The store is conveniently located off 6th Ave on 21st Street near the F, M 23rd Street station and the M55, M7 bus stops at 23rd Street or 20th on 6th Ave (going uptown) and corresponding stops on 5th Ave (going downtown). Final last words from a novice scuba diver: 1. Buy vs. Rent - I decided to buy all the personal items first - mask, snorkel, wetsuit, booties, fins because I know it'll fit me since you can try all these items before buying it. Also, if you decide not to continue with scuba for some reason, you can use them for snorkeling. If you need a prescription mask, it was very easy to order one through the store, just provide them with your eyeglass prescription. They'll work with you to find another mask if the mask you choose can't do that prescription. I ended up getting my computer from them using the discount because being familiar with the computer allowed me to worry about one less thing to figure out when on a trip. The BCD and regulator you can definitely rent. I decided to buy mine since there was a deal going on. I actually absolutely LOVE the BCD I got! The Sherwood Luna has the pull out weights and the two dump valves, one in the back and one in the front! Having the one in the front made controlling buoyancy easier for me. Again, I bought them to have two less things to worry about. 2. Nitrox - Definitely take the nitrox class! After my pool swims, I was pretty tired the following day. I didn't have that feeling when I was using nitrox in Bonaire.

She really takes the time to ensure you’ve fully learned each skill and understand the context in which it would be used. Fantastic experience: I did an SDI group scuba training here. I had no prior experience with scuba diving, so I had a ton of questions at the beginning, which they were able to thoroughly answer on the phone. The gave us suggestions to go with SDI instead of PADI and explained the differences, which saved us a lot of money. We also bought our gear from the shop - the student discount was great and we were able to get gear that fit us correctly, which made the classes easier. Ryan, our instructor was great - very thorough and straightforward during the classes. He answered all questions clearly and encouraged the class to ask questions whenever they arose. The class in general was also fun! I feel very prepared for my open dives in February. I would definitely recommend Scuba Network!

Fantastic experience: I've been on two trips with Scuba Network, and have had an incredible time on both occasions! First one was Cozumel, second was Roatan. Can't recommend enough going on a group trip with Scuba Network! The groups they put together are so fun, and it's a great way to meet people abroad that you can continue to hang with back home in the city. The resorts we've stayed at have also been great, especially the Roatan resort they always go to. The trips are also a great opportunity to complete any certification you're interested in. On the recent Roatan trip, I completed my rescue training with Fallon who is one of the incredible instructors within Scuba Network. It was such a worthwhile and well executed experience and training. You won't regret a scuba experience with Scuba Network!!

Fantastic experience: If you were like me and are currently trying to decide between the SCUBA facilities in Manhattan, where to get certified, and/or go on a big group SCUBA trip, let me save you the effort: YOU FOUND THE CORRECT SHOP! After attending pool sessions with the *fabulous* Rishi and Fallon, I signed up for the group trip to Roatán to finish my open water certification with them. Frankly, I couldn’t be happier with the program and the shop as a whole. I felt incredibly supported when buying my gear and cared for when it was time to get in the water. I can certainly be a worrier, but I felt incredibly safe diving with Rishi and Fallon. I would highly recommend them for instructing people of all ages and with different experiences. They were obviously very invested in me as a diver (I.e. Making sure I’m safe and happy), but I would also say that they treated me as a friend from the beginning (I.e. Making sure I got home safe from the pool sessions). Nothing but love for the both of them. Additionally, I would also like to mention how cool this group trip to Roatán was, especially as someone who is 23 and has only been in NYC for about 2 years. Now, you don’t *need* to be a youth to enjoy such a trip, but this is all to say, ~~if you’re looking for a real community and friend group in the city,~~ doing a trip like Roatán is a surprisingly successful way to accomplish that goal. You become very, very close to the people that you attend the trips with and form lasting relationships that persist even when you’re not SCUBA diving. I’m personally very excited to continue hanging out with these new friends in the city! Ultimately, my weeklong trip to Roatán was somehow the best vacation I’ve had in a very long time— ever? Not only did I learn a new skill (which always makes a person feel proud and accomplished), but I also got an opportunity to crack jokes while swimming in the ocean between dives and jet ski during our downtime. I can understand if SCUBA seems a bit scary conceptually, but SCUBA Network (Rishi, Fallon, and the other instructors) is the BEST way to take the leap and feel comfortable and confident in every moment of the dive. So, if you read all of this: Go for it! Commit to learning the neatest life skill out there! And tell your instructor that I, Reese, says “hi!” :)

My wife and I were recently added to their Fiji trip due to a cancellation. Scuba Network had booked the entire liveaboard. On arrival Ryan greeted us, introduced us to the group, and made us feel welcome and a part of the expedition. Ryan, and Scuba Network, did an outstanding job all around. I am a dive professional and appreciate the care taken with all the clients. Fiji diving can be a challenge with depths and currents (it's well worth the work though!!) and Ryan made sure that all divers, the newest and most experienced, were able to maximize the amazing experience of the Bligh Waters.

Fantastic experience: Did my open water cert with them. They have clearly all been doing this for a while, super organized, responsive, and educational. You can tell that they enjoy helping and that diving is passion for them. I am glad I chose to get certified through a legitimate situation compared to fast tracking it on vacation in a random country. The pool classes really (and repeatedly for good reason) nailed down the skills and emergency scenarios that one needs to know while diving Rishi, Mark, Ryan and Rick have all been awesome. I have a time consuming work schedule and they been super accommodating around it for training/coming into the shop for any questions. They offer international dive trips through the company. Fantastic experience: Definitely my go-to for everything underwater (or in water!). Rick is super helpful. I was introduced to SCUBA Network in the early 2000s, when they still had a store in Brooklyn. That store was home. And this one in Manhattan on 21st Street has the same feel --home.

Fantastic experience: Did my pool training with Scuba Network - I was doing it on a tight timeline based on when my open water checkout dives were and they were so accomodating in making sure I'd have both the online and pool portions done in time for my open water. Lucia-Hope was a great pool instructor! Not a lot of places do weekend pool sessions in Manhattan which is also super convenient.

Fantastic experience: I finally got certified! Knowing what I know now, thanks to Fallon, I can dive with confidence. I am a very anxious person, and diving freaked me out. But my fiancé wanted me to get certified so we could dive on our honeymoon. I didn’t think I could do it, but Fallon guided me through the whole process and now I might feel better wearing the scuba gear than walking around on land.

Fantastic experience: TLDR: scuba network nyc and their team are great and you shouldn’t look any further whether it’s for gear or a class! Scuba Network NYC provided amazing service. I used them for a refresher class before heading to Sydney, Australia for my first dive in over 10 years! Steve, the instructor did a great job getting me acclimated back to the ins and outs of scuba diving. He was patient and attentive, making sure to answer all my questions, and I even got lucky to have a 1on1 class with him. While in the class, I was testing out new equipment including a mask that just did not fit on my face well (purchased elsewhere). The Scuba Network employees/instructors made sure to let me try on their masks they happened to have available at the pool to help me find the perfect fit. Thanks to Hailey for letting me try her Fourth Element Scout mask that turned out to be the right one for me. I went back to the shop the next day, and purchased it from Mark, who let me try it on once more to confirm it was a proper fit before purchasing it. I will definitely use this refresher course again before future diving trips, and really appreciate all the effort and help from Steve, Mark, Hailey and Ryan!

Fantastic experience: I took my open water certifying pool classes with Mark. It was my first scuba experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mark and the staff were patient, thorough, and it was clear that everyone was extremely knowledgeable. I look forward to continuing my scuba learning with Scuba Network.

Fantastic experience: I have had great experiences at Scuba Network outfitting first my daughter and then, three years later, myself with mask/wetsuit/fins/computer. They are super knowledgeable and don't try to upsell you or suggest gear you don't need. Also, they know the conditions at various dive travel destinations, so can suggest appropriate exposure protection and safety equipment. The two classes I took through them--Nitrox and a scuba refresher--were well-organized, thorough and skillfully taught. I will return for any future gear needs and hope to join them on one of their dive trips someday.

Fantastic experience: SCUBA Network is absolutely the best and only choice in NYC for anything scuba related! I did my pool class in Manhattan and open water certification check out dives down in Fort Lauderdale with them and it was a great experience. If you're nervous about getting started, they will take you one step at a time. If you're an advanced diver, they will take you where ever you want to go. They make everything super easy! Everybody who works there is both super laid back while being undeniably passionate about scuba diving. They are also incredibly warm and friendly while also being super professional and extremely knowledgable! I can't recommend them highly enough. I'm infinitely grateful to Mark, Rick and especially to Ryan who was a patient, funny and masterful teacher in the pool as well as to Fallon and Hailey who led our trip down to Fort Lauderdale. From they put everyone at ease and made the whole trip an absolute pleasure. I know that I'm always in great hands with everyone there and I'll absolutely be using SCUBA Network NYC for all my diving needs in the future!

Fantastic experience: Truly masters of the craft, Fallon, Hailey, Mark and Ryan are scuba diving instructors who will set you on the permanent path to scuba diving bliss and happiness. I have merely completed the eLearning and pool training sessions but I feel absolutely compelled to write this review because I have nothing but respect for the professionalism, patience as well as industriousness displayed by every member whom I have met so far at Scuba Dive Network Manhattan. Mark led the way in helping me complete my eLearning course and Ryan coached me throughout both pool training sessions. The level of care, thoughtful deliberation as well as labor of love can be discerned from every exchange you can possibly have with these two gentlemen. Am looking forward to book all 4 open dive trips in 2023 with Scubadive Network NYC because I feel safe, have great fun and simple cannot wait for the next time I talk to Fallon and Hailey! I wish for my 12 year old daughter and my 10 year old son to assimilate both their energies, passion as well as enthusiasm as they share their personal scuba diving experiences. So much more to share yet it can only do a fraction of what is believably just tip of the iceberg how much this formidable team has done. Specially for sustainable,21st century global scuba diving endeavors. Fantastic experience: Walking into the shop I didn't know what to expect as I embark on my scuba journey .. From the start it was a really welcoming environment and I was guided through the whole process from E- learning to pool classes and then to being open water certified on the Cozumel trip! It was an incredible experience full of cool dives with a great group of people. Special thanks to Mark who is super knowledgeable and helped me feel so calm and comfortable under water! I can now say I love scuba diving and am looking forward to more trips and adventures with Scuba network!

Fantastic experience: Great team of staff that taught my wife from 0 and went on trip to FLL for certification dives! They are very reasonable with pricing all inclusive trip. Very detail oriented instructors that eased my wive's near panic attacks first couple dives! Fallon was a wonderful group leader! took care of us before, during and after each dive! even returned our equipment and made us a video and photo album!
