Fantastic experience: I went on Wilderness Travel’s Ultimate Patagonia trip and it was, simply put, an incredible experience. This trip focused on hiking in Patagonia to see its natural beauty and every hike was well worth the effort. For its natural beauty, there is nowhere else like Patagonia and Wilderness Travel’s trip showed that all throughout. Let me tell you some of the ways how: - Hiking winding, far-flung trails to awe-inspiring mountain vistas (really, pictures don’t do it justice) - Eating lunch at the foot of an iceberg-strewn lake backed by glaciers and towering peaks - Warming up by a toasty fire in a cozy inn after a long trek - Sipping coffee and watching a storm pass over Torres del Paine - Communing with wildlife; penguins, guanaco, and foxes to name a few of who we met A huge part of what made this trip so good was our trip leader, Cecelia. I don't know how any one person can coordinate and track so many variables (bookings, weather and trail conditions, hiking prep, food preferences, SNACKS, and much more) but she did it with ease. And her knowledge of the region was encyclopedic. Patagonia is an amazing place and Cecelia allowed us to experience it in a way we wouldn’t have otherwise, making the trip truly special. Cecelia also worked with a bevy of excellent guides and drivers that supported our group throughout the trip. I’d be remiss not to mention the food and accommodations. The breakfasts, lunches (even the sack lunches for hikes), and dinners were all delicious. The comfort of our rooms, warmth of people, and wonder of locations we stayed all made for something that felt a little like magic. Thank you to all the people that made this possible! And big thanks to Wilderness Travel and all the good folks we travelled with for the unforgettable memories. Happy and safe travels, fellow adventurers!

Fantastic experience: Our trip with Wilderness Travel was nothing short of fabulous. All the excursions, hotels, and daily itineraries were spot on. I cannot imagine changing one thing. Our main guide was particularly wonderful. He was organized, listened, intuitive, knowledgeable and a really decent fellow.

Fantastic experience: We just finished the New Zealand: Ultimate South Island trip run by Wilderness, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. The trip was well run, the set of activities matched the brochure, our guides (Chris & Karen) were terrific, and of course New Zealand is a beautiful place. There were a couple of hiccups around food, but the guides did everything in their power to resolve the concerns and keep the food and drink flowing. Highly recommend this trip for anyone considering it!

Fantastic experience: Recent trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand via Wilderness Travel was amazing. Great itinerary, local guides, hotels and optional activities. Highly recommend. Will definitely use them for future trips.

Fantastic experience: I just got back from the Active Antarctic trip-what a fantastic experience. Wilderness made all the arrangements easy and the expedition style cruise exceeded all my expectations. We landed twice a day and got to sea kayak , snowshoe and camp along with daily zodiac cruises-lots of penguins, seals, whales and birds—it was truly the trip of a lifetime.

Fantastic experience: We had an incredible experience with this group taking us through Egypt and Jordan. They really took care of us through the airports, transfers and incredible navigation of the areas sights and hotels. The guides they hire are really knowledgeable and professional. Our guide in Egypt literally wrote the books in most of the gift shops we visited!

Fantastic experience: We just returned from the Pyramids to Petra trip to Egypt and Jordan. Every detail was professionally looked after with efficiency and good humor. It was a trip of a life-time. We highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: The New Zealand Ultimate South Island hiking trip was great! Our guides Zac and Pete were energetic, helpful, knowledgeable, and all-around fun to be with. The itinerary was well-planned, combining strenuous hikes with easier hikes, kayaking, and visiting unusual places one might not otherwise see.

Fantastic experience: Great trip! I now love lemurs...all of them...and find baobab trees...all of them...amazing. Very nice accommodations and very good meals. Lots of long bumpy, hot road trips but worth every minute. The number of participants, 6, was perfect. We were all able to get to a location so we could see and take photos of the wildlife. The guides were excellent, kind, considerate, and knowledgable about both plants and animals. I will be using Wilderness Travel again.

Fantastic experience: The Pilgrim's Way: El Camino de Santiago was my 4th trip with Wilderness Travel. It was another extraordinary experience. Guides Santiago and Haya were outstanding and the experiences we shared with them and the group, so memorable. We walked in all manner of weather and enjoyed the full experience. Meals were incredible. This is a lovely way to experience the Camino if you aren't able or interested in investing a considerable amount of time.

Fantastic experience: Wonder and fulfilling spiritual trip. The company gave me all the information we needed before deciding to take the pilgrimage. I’m afraid of heights, but their description of the trails was accurate and I didn’t have any problems because the leaders David and Sofia made sure I was comfortable at all times. So much information, wonderful sights, fun and laughter with other group members. The leaders David and Sofia were wonderful and made sure all of our needs were met throughout the trip. They felt like old friends. Wonderful trip!

Fantastic experience: Our recent Wilderness Travel Safari in Tanzania with Mzee and McDonald could not have been better! Every detail, down to a wonderful birthday cake for me and The Serengeti Boys singing to me, was the very best birthday ever! We saw "the big five" and then more. Our group of 10 people did not know each other previously, but we all made lifelong friends quickly. I would definitely choose Wilderness Travel again.

Fantastic experience: Our trip to Bolivia was unique and very special. Both our Wilderness guide and our local Bolivian guide were absolutely phenomenal — we were always so well taken care of. When my elderly mom felt that an upcoming hike might be too strenuous, the guides went out of their way to find a good option that would make my mom’s life easier without her missing any of the activities. It was so beautifully handled. Bolivia itself is beautiful and is probably better served with a guide than trying it on your own. If you decide on that path, you won’t go wrong with Wilderness.

Fantastic experience: What an AMAZING trip to Mongolia with Wilderness Travel!

Fantastic experience: I have taken five travel trips with Wilderness Travel, WT, each one being superb in its own way. However, in some ways my trip last month, Pyramids to Petra: Egypt and Jordan tour, was especially superb. Our guide Mohamed Ossama was excellent, very knowledgeable, caring, well organized, great humour and went out of his way at times to assist us. We had many again excellent discussions on Egypt's history, development and current standing in the Arab world, but never becoming political in any way. A true friend. Felt very safe during the whole trip, including on Oct 7th, 2024. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.

Fantastic experience: The great elephant migration was a magnificent trip. This was beyond the average Safari. This was up close and personal with lions, elephants, rhinos, hippos… The camps we stayed at were very nice.Two of them were surrounded by elephants with the added experience of being true camps with outdoor showers. So much fun under the Southern Cross by campfire. The trip varied in terms of sophisticated accommodations and camp accommodations. Our two guides Musa and Eric were very knowledgeable. Both so well educated in the wildlife and both natives of Zimbabwe. We saw so much of life in Zimbabwe. We visited a school where we met school children. We visited a clinic. We also got to see elephants from an elephant blind and take amazing pictures. I truly would recommend this trip for the adventurous traveler. Great food, great people and amazing experiences.

Fantastic experience: Our South Africa, Victoria Falls and Botswana adventure was beyond our dreams. The itinerary was perfect - we would recommend staying in Victoria Falls 2 nights instead of one. The hotels and lodges were amazing. The food was great. We really enjoyed the safari both in South Africa and Botswana. Highly recommend traveling with Wilderness Travel.

Fantastic experience: Just completed my tenth trip with Wilderness {Hiking Puglia & Matera}, and it was unfailingly well-run and FUN! The experience and colorfulness of the guides, interesting and deluxe choice of accommodations, selection of walks, hikes, informational tours and other activities, as well as restaurant venues were all top-notch. If you are thinking about a trip with this company, their website is a fabulous resource to do a deep dive. The site is easy to navigate and really well organized, and the trip details and photos represent the various itineraries deliciously and accurately.

Fantastic experience: Best hiking trip and the guides Con and Ann are amazing. If you plan on hiking in Ireland, look no further than these two for a magical journey. .

Fantastic experience: We had the most incredible time on our Zambia walking safari with Wilderness. The accommodations were superb and the food was amazing, especially at the mobile camps. Chef knows his stuff. Our guide, Jason was so knowledgeable and interesting. We were fortunate to have Jason as our guide for the entirety of the safari, something we understand you only get with Wilderness Travel. We highly recommend this adventure, and what an adventure it was!

Fantastic experience: Had an absolutely wonderful trip with Wilderness to Orkney and the Highlands of Scotland. The guides, activities, accommodations and food were all first-rate. Looking forward to my next trip.

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful time on WT's Treasures of Mont Blanc: it wasn't just hiking but a variety of activities that allowed us into the communities/ways of life in this beautiful area. The passion and respect that our trip leaders had for this Alpine region was beautiful and humbling. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I have taken several private journey trips with Wilderness Travel - Morocco last fall and just this summer, Turkey. Both experiences far exceeded my high expectations. The level of care and detail that WT creates is unrivaled. With the Turkey trip, one of the travelers in my group had to leave early due to a family member's health crisis. The local tour operator worked with her directly late into the night to help her figure out the best way to get home and to help her recoup some of the flight costs. Beyond that, I've been incredibly impressed with the caliber of tour guides that we had in both Morocco and Turkey. All were not just knowledgeable and fluent in English but also, engaging and warm people, sharing not just history and country culture with us but also, their own personal life stories and experiences, which just made the travel experiences so much richer. We even had the chance to dine with our tour guide's family in Cappadocia. His aunt hosted us at her house and it was an amazing and memorable afternoon! I cannot recommend WT enough and have had many colleagues asking for the information on the trips I've taken with them, given the stories and pictures I have brought back! You won't regret a trip with WT - every trip is a once in a lifetime experience!

Fantastic experience: Love this company! It's one of the few businesses left where you can actually talk to a real live person! Just returned from their Croatia Istria trip. It was a wonderful balance of cultural sights, hikes, and culinary offerings. Our leaders - Nena and Zuzana - were top-notch, ever calm, informative, and accommodating. They were very tuned into the group; able to make adjustments along the way, such as amending hikes to take advantage of more shade during a heat wave. Accommodations were first rate, particularly the Alhambra. Loved all the opportunities to experience regional specialties such as fresh truffles, fish, olive oil, and wine in picturesque settings. My only suggestion for anyone wanting to take this trip - make sure to take some extra days in Slovenia! Hats off to Wilderness Travel for yet another well-curated itinerary and live guidance throughout!

Fantastic experience: I recently went on Safari with Wilderness Travel's Ultimate Namibia and Botswana adventure and it was the trip of a lifetime. This was my first WT trip and it was extraordinary in every way. We went out on safari drives every day - many times twice a day; and saw lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, hippos and all sorts of exotic wildlife. Our trip leader Franco Morao was incredibly knowledgeable about all things Africa and provided great insights and information every step of the way.The lodges and the food were outstanding and we were far from any crowds. WT supports wildlife preservation in both Namibia and Botswana. They help support the local communities as well. The cultural aspect of the trip was also a highlight; tracking game on foot with the San tribe and visiting their village was like going back in time - truly amazing ! This adventure exceeded all expectations and I look forward to my next Wilderness Travel trip!

Fantastic experience: I traveled to Cape Town and Zimbabwe with Wilderness Travel and was blown away by the experience. Incredible wildlife viewing by safari jeep, mountain bike, train car, boat, and on foot. We spent lots of time in the look up blind watching elephants just a few feet away. (sooo many elephant babies!!), We also saw lions and cubs, giraffe, zebra, warthogs, hyenas. We spent time in the new rhino sanctuary learning about their reintroduction to the park and walking with the rhino. The conservation work Imvelo and Wilderness Travel are doing in the national park is so impactful. It felt good to know our money is contributing to the rhino sanctuary and helping to sustain the local school, medical clinic and surrounding villages there. Wilderness Travel is the best in the business and we will certainly be traveling with them again!

Fantastic experience: A group of us went on a Wilderness Travel safari this month to Tanzania, and what an incredible trip. We all met in Arusha at their beautiful lodge and spent a couple days before flying to the Tarangire National Park for 3 lovely nights of game drives. Then flew to northern Serengeti National Park for 4 nights, before flying back to Arusha. I watched YouTube safari videos for the last year, anticipating what it would be like. I saw things like “bring a water bottle with a filter in it”, “bring bars and snacks for the early game drives”, “bring a beanie and gloves”, etc. Oh no. NO NO NO. This trip was not like the YouTube videos. The lodges / camps we stayed in are all privately-owned, and exquisite. Coffee and cookies brought to our tent patios at 6am while it’s still dark, and we were getting ready for the morning game drive. Complete lovely FULL breakfast in the main dining area (family style) prior to departing for the morning. Beautiful full lunch either back at camp, or under a tree while still out on the game drive… unlimited PURIFIED water at camps, in our tents, as well as in all Toyota Land Cruisers… unlimited drinks in coolers while on game drives. Guides who were the most amazing, knowledgeable gentlemen, who you could not throw out a question they could not answer, whether it was about an animal, a custom, politics, history, etc. Each return from a game drive is met with all the staff, and cold wash cloths, and champagne/cocktails/drinks by the fire pit… sometimes with animals right there in the camp. The staff members at the lodges were INCREDIBLE! So hospitable, polite, friendly, and SO hard-working young men, they were a real treat to be around. They tried so hard to even remember our names, which was so nice. The food at each lodge, AMAZING! 10 days of 3 different lodges/camps, with breakfasts, lunches, dinners, that were all completely different, and completely fabulous! These were multi-course meals, fresh fruit, and some wonderful dessert! The chefs are amazing. Then being escorted back to our tents each evening (mandatory when it’s dark), our beds were turned down, and ready for a lovely night (maybe hearing animals), to do it again the next day! They completely blew the YouTube videos out of the water. Pampered safari living was truly a dream come true. A trip of a lifetime. Thank you Wilderness Travel!

Fantastic experience: Wilderness Travel is definitely the way to go for climbing Kilimanjaro. Every aspect from pre-trip through the transport back to the airport post climb is smooth, efficient and expertly facilitated so all we had to do was focus on the goal: climbing that incredible mountain. The trip leader/guides and entire crew that make the climb possible are phenomenal- skilled, knowledgeable and just a joy to have this experience with. And the meals!!! Unbelievable.

Fantastic experience: I did the Bergamo to Innsbruck hiking trip led by Gianluca and the whole experience was absolutely amazing. Gianluca was superb in his ability to lead, educate, communicate and create a trip that was truly life changing. His attention to detail to ensure a smooth transitions was flawless. He led us on breathtaking hikes while sharing his vast knowledge of every country so we could appreciate them as much as he did. Everything he did made for a relaxing yet invigorating trip. Fantastic experience: Just had the most amazing 12 days aboard the Indonesian yatch Shakti in Cenderawasih Bay, West Papua, Indonesia, snorkeling with whale sharks, pristine coral, sunken WWII planes, and beautiful fish. The ship's crew and the Wilderness Travel guide (Andrea) made this a trip of a lifetime with friendly support, local expertise, and insights into the really unique spots for ideal snorkeling, plus on-shore adventures to a local village and jungle trek to see the Bird of Paradise. Cenderawasih Bay is a very remote tropical paradise and absolutely worth the effort to get there!

Fantastic experience: Just finished a week-long journey with Wilderness Travel to Greenland - just a small group of 6 of us. Rob, our guide, was enthusiastic, attentive, thoroughly knowlegable about culture, geology, people and how to join together for a good time. You should be aware that most airports in Greenland allow for no instrument landings, and so you can be trapped for a day or two at any time by heavy fog, wind or rain. Plan ahead! During our unanticipated airport delay at the end, we really appreciated that Rob watched over us until we could fly out. I highly recommend WT and this journey.

Accommodations are always at top rated hotels; meals are superb, tour guides are terrific and very knowledgeable about the area you're visiting. Have been on 3 trips with WT but have met many folks who have been on 30+ which obviously says a lot about their competence.

Fantastic experience: Our trip to Tanzania was our third with Wilderness Travel -- they have earned our loyal support. The level of attention to detail, from planning the trip to the day-to-day adventures, was superb. We never have to worry about whether things will work out -- and in fact, WT goes beyond expectations in providing a great experience.

Fantastic experience: Last year, my wife and I took one of our sons and his wife and three children on a Wilderness Travel Private Tanzania Safari. The guides, Macdonald and Victor, were great as were the tent camp facilities and staffs. The 2023 Trip was such a great success that this year we took or other two sons, their wives and five children, ages 11 to 15, on the same trip. It was, if anything, better -- the guides, Macdonald and two new guides, Neiman and Chilli, and the facilities and staffs were wonderful -- and the experience of two sets of children and grandchildren (one set from Iowa and the other from Australia) made it rewarding and exciting in a different way. By the way, the staffs at the WT San Francisco home office and the Arusha, Tanzania local office were very helpful in sorting things out for the logistics -- right up to the very last minute.

Fantastic experience: I just returned from climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro with Wilderness Travel. I completed the Northern Route which I feel gave our group the best chance of summiting successfully. Our entire group summited! This was my first experience climbing and Wilderness Travel EXCEEDED any expectations I had. They were truly attentive in our journey, health, safety and comfort. EVERY porter, guide, employee took the time to listen and responded to any questions in a timely manner. If I ever do another trip I will definitely choose Wilderness Travel.

Fantastic experience: I've had the opportunity to complete 8 trips with Wilderness Travel and already signed up to do a couple more. We have just returned from Wild Tasmania and it was amazing. We got an insiders look into this beautiful island. Great hiking, great food, great wine and great company! The guides through WT are top notch - and our guides on the trip, James and Andrea, were no different. Their knowledge, passion and expertise comes through and is evident in their work. I've had the opportunity to travel with other companies, but WT is truly the best of the best and we will continue to use them for hiking and cultural trips in the years to come.

Fantastic experience: I have taken several trips (Norway, Dolomites, Greenland, Iceland) with WT and have found them to be a great company. Their guides are top notch - knowledgeable, professional, fun, and always try to make the trip a memorable experience for everyone. Their front office has a passionate group of trip advisors that work diligently behind the scenes to pull these adventures together. They offer great, and many times very unique, hiking trips. I used to travel almost exclusively with REI Adventures and would probably still be doing trips with them if they hadn't gotten out of international travel. WT has filled that gap very well! Looking forward to more adventures with these guys.

Fantastic experience: We just made our second trip with WT- this time to Iceland. This was a fantastic hiking tour with excellent guides and they adjusted our itinerary so that we got the most out of our hikes with 90% good weather. Accommodations and food were excellent as well. We are signing up for more trips with WT while we are still young and active (late 70's).

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have used Wilderness Travel on several 5 star trips: Namibia, Botswana, Antartica, two hiking trips in Greece and a private journey hiking trip in the Dolomites. Each trip has been top notch and the guides extremely knowledgeable. We keep coming back to WT as the accommodations and food are always above excellent. We are always impressed with the care we receive from booking all the way to the final trip day. We recommend WT to all our friends and family.

Fantastic experience: We are loyal WT travellers. We know if we book a trip through them we will be in good hands, with experienced guides. So many memories have been made on our adventures and we will continue to use WT as our "go to" when it comes to international travel. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would.

Fantastic experience: Wilderness Travel was prepared for everything and gave us all the help we needed so we could be prepared. We came equipped to hike for 10 days (though we did entertain some concern as to whether it would be too much). It wasn't - it was amazing! We traveled with a wonderful group of people (we were the only ones who had never traveled with Wilderness Travel before). Our leaders were great and made every hike and every meal about getting to know authentic Corsica and Sardinia. Some of the accommodations were outstanding and some of our team took advantage and enjoyed a day at the resort rather than the hike. And the food - I ate so much splendid food that I thought for sure I would be adding a few pounds. Awe, but then hiking every day worked it off - perfection!

Fantastic experience: Our Botswana Safari was our third trip with Wilderness Travel, a company we have come to rely on for its great itineraries, skilled guides, and attention to travelers' interests and needs. Our Safari was a "glamping" experience, with wonderful accommodations and great food. But the heart of the trip were the game drives, often two in a day, that yielded viewings of lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, antelopes, monkeys...the whole range of wildlife. Our guides were people who grew up in the area and had deep knowledge of its ecology and of the lifeways of the animals. The small group number meant our jeeps were small and allowed everyone excellent viewing and comfort. An extraordinary experience overall. Here are some photos I took with my handy zoom lens.

Fantastic experience: Our third trip (Patagonia) with Wilderness was fantastic and we’re looking forward to a fourth in Morocco. We love the excellent organization, well-informed guides (those with us throughout the trip, plus the local guides), and the right mix of “getting out there and doing things” adventure plus delicious and comfortable accommodations. Wilderness seems to attract lovely traveling companions too, and we have always considered this a plus. They do a reliably great job!!

From the office support beforehand, hotels before and after, accommodations aboard the Mary Anne, incredible food (and I'm food spoiled in San Francisco), thoughtful itinerary, informative tour guide/local knowledge, authentic experiences, respectable clientele - everything. It would have taken me forever to figure out all the details WT wove into this trip. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: We booked the Great Migration tour through Wilderness Travel and were not disappointed. I usually want to travel to Europe and this was my first trip to Africa and the southern hemisphere, so I wasn't so sure about this trip. However, it turned out to be phenomenal, an incredibly memorable experience. These folks really know what they are doing. They hire excellent people and train them well; the service is first rate. The staff was uniformly warm, courteous and helpful. We "glamped" for most of the trip; in tents in the wild. The food there was excellent and beautifully presented. Our drivers were very experienced and skilled, got us amazing views, often very close-up, of wildlife-just breathtaking. When we were leaving, we were driven to the airport by a young man who stood in line with us-(they had a security check on entry to the airport). We told him he could take off but he said "I'm not leaving you here;" a rather rare level of caring for the customer, I would say. This trip is highly recommended by me.

Fantastic experience: Just got back from a fantastic trip with Wilderness Travel aboard a luxury train in Uzbekistan! An amazing experience in a country that has fascinating historic Silk Road towns, museums, mosques, artisan crafts, delicious food and more. Uzbekistan is a true mixture of ancient cultures and modern life. Go before mass tourism discovers this welcoming, clean, friendly, easy to navigate destination! Thanks to Wilderness Travel for finding the “Treasures of Uzbekistan” - an 11 day journey aboard the Golden Eagle train where passengers have comfortable individual cabins with bathroom and shower, and enjoy the bar lounge car and delicious dining in the restaurant. We visited famous Silk Road cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva - departing the train and boarding a bus with local, English speaking guide to tour UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as ancient Old Towns, museums and mosques. Put on your scarf, ladies, and everyone take off your shoes. Uzbekistan is mostly Muslim but does not feel as restrictive or strict as Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia. From a traditional Uzbek barbecue on the train platform to enjoying “plov” the favorite national dish (like a pilaf), fresh vegetables and other varied cuisine at artisan homes, restaurants and aboard the train, we were well fed and passengers shared meals and wines. Writing a short review about this outstanding trip doesn’t nearly render the joy of discovery and experiences of this WT journey. So much to learn about Uzbekistan’s history with rulers like Emir Temur (related to Ghengis Khan), Arab Khans(leaders), Russian Tsars, then Bolsheviks, Soviet Union then finally independence in 1991. Ancient walls, palaces, mosques, and Madrasahs are testaments to the past travelers explore. And there are also the colorful markets, visits to craftsmanship of ceramic art, creation of silk fabric in family run “factories” and visit to a miniaturist painter’s studio. Uzbekistan also has a gorgeous, clean, efficient metro system built by the Soviets and decorated with artwork at each station. A ticket was about 20 cents and you could hop on and off to view the chandeliers, tile decor and architectural delights at various stops. This was a great experience thanks to WT for finding it for me. I’m a solo “elegant age” (that’s what the Uzbeks call elderly people) traveler and found other passengers (couples, singles, friends) well traveled, interesting and friendly. Expedition leaders and staff on the Golden Eagle train were excellent - experienced, enthusiastic and well organized.

Fantastic experience: We just completed the Argentina: Hikes and Estancias of Patagonia with Wilderness Travel. All we can say is WOW! This is an amazing trip. Wilderness Travel met us at the Buenos Aires airport and took care of absolutely everything after that. The places we stayed in Patagonia were amazing! Fantastic experience: We have been on two tours with Wilderness and both make up our top 2 tours! In Feb. 2024 my husband, myself, our adult daughter and a good friend did the incredible Royal Rajasthan tour and had a fantastic trip. The hotels were exquisite, the food delicious, and the activities were so very fun. We saw 3 leopards while on a safari, went to a camel fair with thousands of camels, saw ancient forts, had dinner at a candlelit step well, and many more activities. The planning was perfect and our guide excellent. we will be taking more Wilderness trips!

Fantastic experience: We had a fabulous experience in Morocco with Wilderness Travel. Every moment was at once professional, comfortable, interesting, and enriching. Ali, our guide, was absolutely wonderful -- knowledgeable, friendly, kind, intelligent, and insightful. A particularly winning quality was his seemingly effortless ability to read the needs of our little traveling group -- incredibly astute and thoughtful, with a quick smile and lovely sense of humor blended with a comfortable respect for everyone's wishes. (We also loved our driver, Hassan!) We covered an amazing amount of territory, saw incredibly distinctive and memorable sites, and learned so much about Morocco, both from Ali and from each location's expert local guide. Each place we stayed was distinctive and fun. I smiled the moment we stepped out of the van to approach our new night's accommodation and delighted at our assigned rooms and common spaces. Each place was unique and seemed to capture the spirit of the Moroccan town we were in. Our Food was consistently delicious! The two nights in the WT Sahara camp were a highlight! Everything about it was a brilliant experience: the tent accommodations were so much fun and completely comfortable, the food was delicious, and the people were so kind and saw to our every comfort. "Camping" in the Sahara felt incredibly luxurious thanks to the many amenities, our guide, and WT's investment in the camp spaces. WT's plan of two nights is a must do! One night simply wouldn't have been enough. We recommend this trip without reservation. 5 Stars

Fantastic experience: The Realm of the Tiger Wilderness Travel Excursion is positively one of the best trips that I have ever experienced. I have been on 6 African safaris in a variety of countries. However, it was time to go a little further into the safari opportunities. The Wilderness Travel India Tiger trip was absolutely a PERFECT FIT. I have been to India before so I was prepared for a bit of the culture shock. However, the trip was scheduled perfectly among 4 nature game reserves. We left the culture shock behind us and concentrated on the wilderness and the animals and the lodges and the welcoming spirit of the staff at the lodges. The staff, the food, the accommodations were totally PERFECT. And…with a little bit of luck, the animals showed up too. The excitement of seeing tigers in the wild and up close and personal cannot be explained-one has to be there. And lastly, our guide was so wonderful-that cannot be repeated enough times. This trip is a TEN STAR experience. Just do it!!!

Fantastic experience: The Zambia walking safari was an incredible once in a lifetime experience! My guide Jason is knowledgeable about everything, educating me on all wildlife, their habitat, trees, flowers, the night stars, animal calls, tracking, the eco system. Did I say worldly? The mobile camp safari staff amazed me at their efficiency, 5 star food preparation, spoiling me throughout, plus they are all so kind! I loved conversations over sundowners and meals with Rachel, hostess, and Jason. The two of them, along with John my Scout, Kanessa my Sweeper, and John my main server made sure every need was taken care of. Yet everyone was so good with me I don't want to leave anyone out. Very comfortable accommodations in my mobile and the permanent camps were lovely. I am sharing with everyone, they must experience this safari only with Jason, this Robin Cook Safari staff with Lisa at Wilderness Travel orchestrating it all!

If one gets the opportunity to participate in this hike I highly encourage you to do so. The country of Bhutan is like none other: friendly, safe, clean. We had a fantastic group of guides who were helpful on the hikes and all held a deep knowledge and love of Bhutan.

We have traveled with WT on over a dozen trips in the past two decades ranging from hiking trips to cultural trips and even using WT as an agent for our Antarctica expedition cruise. This trip to Egypt and Jordan was one of the best trips. The itinerary, hotels and ship, meals and other logistics were top notch. We have had many superb trip leaders in the past. However, Mohamed O. on the Pyramids to Petra trip was the best tour guide and trip leader we’ve ever had. His attention to details and his efforts to make sure that everyone was enjoying the trip was outstanding. Highly recommend this trip with Wilderness Travel.

Fantastic experience: The Everest Lodge to Lodge hiking tour was the best hiking tour I have ever taken. Our guide was one of the best I have ever had. He set a comfortable pace for all of us; loved to share his extensive knowledge of the trail and local culture; was concerned about our safety; and handled all of our issues very satisfactorily. The hotels and lodges we stayed at on the hike were the best in the area with wonderful food, drinks, and service. The transportation and other support were excellent. Prior to the hike the support from the US Wilderness Tour staff was responsive and thorough.

Fantastic experience: Wilderness Travel exceeded our expectations. Our private journey to Morocco was our first time traveling with Wilderness Travel and they exceeded our expectations on every front. I highly recommend them and plan to do another trip with them in the future. Barbara Wright worked with us to tailor our trip to our interests and our available time window and Rebecca Streicker-Cale handled the details and logistics of the trip admirably. A good trip manager exceeds ones expectations and Wilderness Travel did just that. Given that it was a private journey, much of the work was done before we departed … designing the route, selecting private riads, extending our time in the Sahara Desert, and perhaps most importantly, assigning us the perfect guide. What more could one ask for? Our guide, Ali Ait Ichou, was amazing! We have traveled the world and he was one of our best guides ever! It is hard to imagine how anyone could have done a better job leading our trip. He was patient, kind, caring, sensitive, personable, engaging, and most of all knowledgeable. His demeanor put us at ease throughout the trip. Ali has a clear sense of pride in his people and Morocco and he answered our many questions with facts and insights. He shared his love for Morocco and his experience as a Moroccan Berber. He taught us about his country’s cultures, religions, food, people, history, and geology. His attention to detail was simply outstanding. His handling of the trip was seamless. In many aspects he made the trip what it was … excellent. He exceeded our expectations and made it a memorable trip … an unforgettable experience. I can't think of a single thing Ali could have done better! We especially enjoyed the special things that would have been impossible for us to find or do on our own, such as our lunch with a Berber family in the mountains, our walks through community gardens, and our visit to a nomad family in the desert near the border with Algeria. We wanted to experience the local culture and Ali made sure that all our meals were special … local non touristy places for the most part. Ali listened to our interests and then worked to fulfill them. If I mentioned a topic or a sight or showed him a photo of something we were interested in, he worked to include it in our itinerary. He made our visit a once in a lifetime experience. He was an outstanding leader and guide in every aspect … and now he is our friend!

Fantastic experience: I had the privilege of taking a trip to Turkey with Wilderness Travel. It was an incredibly special experience and the most memorable trip I've ever been on. The Wilderness Travel team puts so much thought into their itineraries and the guides are so knowledgeable and kind. You really feel taken care of! Wilderness Travel balances adventure and luxury so well. The food was incredible at every meal. We had the opportunity to hike, kayak, and snorkel. We learned about Turkish culture and history. Fantastic experience: Have been with Wilderness several time in the past. This trip to the Turquoise Coast was amazing. The private excursion on a sailboat with great food, warm waters, kayaking, paddle boarding and daily hike up to Lycean ruins were amazing. Couldn't ask for better and more knowledgeable guides! Photos in another post coming! We added a balloon ride in Cappadocia and felt this was worth every penny. We will be back!

Fantastic experience: Our Everest lodge to lodge trip was amazing. This trip was well organized from the airport pick up to all the local airport, guides, hotels, and meal arrangements. Every detail was covered and every question and concern were answered promptly and efficiently. Our native guide Niraj was very informed of the trail and Everest region and paid lots of attentions to our needs along the way. I can’t say enough about their itineraries, guides and overall experiences of a lifetime! This hiking trip in Greece was especially interesting to me having lived a few years in this country as a teen attending an American School. I highly recommend this trip and this company! Fantastic experience: Just returned from Wilderness Travel's "Croatia: Istria and the Dalmatian Coast," and absolutely loved it! The quality and variety of landscapes, towns, hikes, boats, cuisines, wine, and hotels created a prefect 11-day adventure. The trip leaders, Stan and Richard, were excellent, having led this trip many times. They have perfected the itinerary in a way we could not have planned on our own. As a Croatian, Stan expertly shared his favorite islands, foods, and sites, with Richard complementing the experience with his vast knowledge of the region and passion for travel. This trip is one of Wilderness Travel’s small group adventures, which was the perfect number of people (11 participants, 2 guides, 1 driver), and rewarding, but not overly strenuous hikes (level 2+ rating). A very well-thought-out and balanced trip that showcases beautiful Croatia and Slovenia!

Fantastic experience: Just took my first tour with Wilderness Travel. A brilliantly conceived and implemented tour of Bolivia. More than half of the people on the tour had traveled with WT before, and when I regularly remarked excellent guides, food, travel throughout the tour they affirmed that this was the WT standard. Bolivia is marvelous and WT deserves the reputation they've earned over decades of brilliant travel and exploration. I will certainly join another WT tour.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I travelled to Puglia and Matera with WT this Sept and Oct. It was a terrific trip. The hiking was great, with beautiful vistas. The accommodations, including a Trulli and a cave, we excellent. Our trip leaders, (Gianlucca and Joann), and the local guides they employed were wonderful and we got a terrific dose of history and culture. The food was absolutely delicious. THe swimming, both in the Adriatic and pools was a great plus. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who is capable of moderate hikes.

Fantastic experience: Wilderness Travel prepared an itinerary for us a South Africa Private Journey- a visit to Cape Town and then a safari experience in Greater Kruger. This trip was definitely a trip of a lifetime, and certainly one of our best trips ever. While we normally do all our own planning and booking, we felt that a trip to South Africa would be better if arranged by professionals, and Wilderness certainly validated that sentiment. From the start of the trip design to completion of the trip, it was an excellent experience. The choice of lodging and lodges, the day trips offered, and the reserves offered were all top notch. Our biggest, pleasant surprise was that 11 days in the bush was not too many, and that each reserve/lodge offered a different and happy spin on the safari experience. All of the logistical connections were incredibly smooth and nearly seamless-- our airport pick-ups/drop offs; guidance through the terminals and security for AirLink; porters; lodge pick-ups and drop-offs; and an air shuttle transfer between safari lodges and from Mala Mala to JNB airport at the end of our travels. We will highly recommend Wilderness to anyone contemplating a safari trip, and if the experience we had with them for this trip is indicative, they are an excellent choice for planning any of the trips they offer in their extended catalog.
