Positive experience: This tour was laid out very well and our escort was amazing. The places we visited, by and large, were very enjoyable. The hotels we stayed at in each city were exceptionally nice, superior first-class in each city. I especially enjoyed the Opus XVI in Bergen which was probably the best one on this trip. We did spend a lot of time, by necessity, on trains and ferries. The Flam railway trip was amazing, although the town itself seemed to me to be quite the "tourist trap." Ou local guides in each city were amazing and being able to experience local culture was special. I would certainly recommend Discover Scandinavia Tours.

Fantastic experience: Scheduled a ten day trip to Norway with DST and had a wonderful experience. They worked around all my stated preferences and mapped out an excellent vacation routing with exceptional hotel arrangements. And their pricing was 40% less than a travel agency competitor. Fantastic experience: My husband and I celebrated my retirement by taking a Scandinavian trip. We narrowed down the countries we wanted to visit to Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. We had also decided we wanted the whole trip including transportation from city to city, Hotels and daily activities/excursions planned for us. We came across Discover Scandinavia Tours after much research and comparing what each Tour Company offered. After a phone call with Marcelo from Discover Scandinavia, we knew we picked the right Tour company. His experience and 1st hand knowledge of these Countries and the various activities/excursions put us at ease. He took the time to listen to our special requests and was able to accommodate our needs. We were sold. We were then turned over to Vicky and Aja who worked through all the Logistics and Bookings for our trip. They were fantastic and very responsive anytime we had questions. Needless to say, we had a fantastic vacation. Each Hotel we stayed at was beautiful, clean and a central location. We felt safe everywhere we went. We enjoyed all the activities we did. We had some minor hiccups associated with some of the private drivers not showing up at no fault of Discover Scandinavia and Vicky and Aja were quick to help resolve. Nothing that ruined our trip. We only have the best of memories.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I, along with 4 other couples, just returned from a 7- day, private Luxe Winter Tour of Iceland (Oct 23-30). DST handled every detail for us…all we had to do was book our flights! We were met at the airport in Keflavik and whisked to our hotel in Reykjavik, a scenic 45 minute drive. The hotels we stayed at were 4-star…3 nights in Reykjavik, 2 in Husafell and 2 in Hella. Each hotel had its own charm and were so comfortable. The individual tour guides for the itinerary that DST planned for us were personable and knowledgeable. We soaked in 3 different thermal pools throughout the country, went on 2 evening quests for the Northern Lights (and saw them!), saw spectacular waterfalls, hiked into a Lava Cave and traversed the side of a glacier to reach the Secret Ice Caves. We had plenty of “down time” to explore on our own as well as relax. The food in Iceland is delicious…especially the fish and lamb. There is a plethora of restaurants in Reykjavik to choose from, all within a short walking distance from our hotel. Husafell and Hella are a bit more remote but the hotel restaurants were top notch. The buffet breakfasts (included in our tour package) offered a wide variety of options…sausage, bacon, smoked salmon, eggs, breads, fruits, coffee, juices. A great way to start each day of exploring this beautiful and pristine country. If Iceland is on your “bucket list” (it truly is a must-see!) I highly recommend that you contact Discover Scandinavia Tours. They offer small group tours (12 people max) on scheduled dates or consider their private tour, if you want more flexibility in your travel dates and want to experience Iceland with family and/or friends. Fantastic experience: I went on a trip arranged by Discover Scandinavia Tours with my husband and another couple. We went to Bergen and Balestrand and then Oslo and Copenhagen. The trip was absolutely wonderful. The company arranged all of the hotels and boat and train trips, as well as tours in each location. Balestrand was absolutely gorgeous, and we stayed in a beautiful hotel that we never would have discovered on our own. The trip was arranged perfectly, and all of the tours were great. Every time we were moving to a different location a car and driver showed up to transport us. All of us loved our trip and appreciated the care that Discover Scandinavia Tours put into planning and arranging it. They also worked with us to figure out what we wanted and took our wishes into account. I highly recommend this company. I have been singing their praises to my friends since we returned. If you go, don't miss the fjords. BEAUTIFUL!

Fantastic experience: The “Stories of Iceland” tour in February 2024 was flawlessly organized and brilliantly guided. We were a small group of diverse travelers whose individual interests and abilities were factored into each day’s itinerary. Bjarni, our guide, shared his intimate knowledge and love of his country’s geography, history and culture with humor and an enthusiasm that was contagious. As an 82 year old widow, my personal interests were the geology and the northern lights, and I came away awed by my experience and eager to return to this clean, modern, courteous and caring island nation. Fantastic experience: Despite my very last minute planning (Oct for a Xmas trip), David and the Discover Scandinavia team were able to make our trip to Norway happen (we only missed one city because all the flights were booked). And everything was planned perfectly. From the hotels (we chose “one level” down and they were all fantastic and included awesome breakfast buffets), to the transportation (personal greeting and transport at all the important points), to the activities (including train journeys, personal guided tours, and snow activities), everything was excellently planned and smooth. They even kept trying when the Snow Hotel was booked up and managed to find us an opening so we didn’t miss getting a night in the Ice Room. When we did have a few hiccups (due to travel delays outside anyone’s control….except the airlines), Victoria back in the US was super responsive and did all she could to help and rebook hotels and transport. I took a risk using a company I knew nothing about that I found using a google search and it paid off!! I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: All of the cities visited were fascinating. The weather was raining, windy and miserable. Despite the weather, there were many positives. The ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo was much nicer than expected. Walking on the roof of the Opera House in Oslo was especially fun, coming upon a group of dancers rehearsing with a leader. Everyone was pleasant and spoke English.

Fantastic experience: Although we enjoy planning details of our vacation trips, we opted this time to have the support offered by Discover Scandinavia because we wanted to visit 3 countries. We were thrilled with the services and support offered by DS. Every staff member encountered was professional and efficient. They were able to tailor our interests into a quite workable itinerary. The tour guides in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm were excellent--special shout outs to Jessica and Ella. When we encountered an issue due to train cancellations, our highest interest in touring the Norwegian fjords were factored into a changed itinerary to accomplish this. Having a driver meet us at air and train stations was marvelous. A highlight of our travel was being invited into the tour guide's home for a traditional Swedish lunch--and learning a feisty song to go with it. The guides' knowledge of history and dates was remarkable. One recommendation we have is that the ambassador on site have the authority to make travel changes; our logistics person was a full 6 hours behind us which caused a number of hours waiting. All in all, we highly recommend DC for planning a top notch experience.

Fantastic experience: Our trip to Norway was the second itinerary we have booked through DST and we had another terrific experience. The hotels, transportation, tours and excursions that DST puts together are always of exceptionally high quality, and provide us a real sense of having “seen” the country we are visiting. This year we suffered a flight delay leaving the U.S. that required some reorganizing and rescheduling on the front end of our stay in Oslo. Shawnna at DST was amazing and handled everything immediately. She also helped us after we returned to ensure that we had all the correct paperwork for our travel insurance claim. Fantastic experience: Referring to our 10 day group tour arranged by Marcelo's team at DST in May 2023, the vacation was excellent in all respects. City tours were super informative. Great knowledge from great guides. Respecting the long history and ties to early settlements in and around Stockholm (Taby area), the stone markings were a little over-emphasized but many more highlights were enjoyed throughout the area. Kviknes Hotel in Balestrand was exceptional in all respects especially the Buffet dinner and breakfast was superior. Bergen tour of old city was very well preserved and authentic. I never had to exchange money in all the places we traveled. Fluent English was spoken everywhere we ventured. All transfers were on time and efficient. Even with the beginning airline glitch, you guys worked it out for the late arrivals to get to the hotel on the same day. Fantastic experience: I can not say enough good things about them. We had an amazing time. All of the tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. The hotels they picked were perfect every time and exactly in the middle of the things we were interested in. Marcelo and Shawnna worked with us tirelessly for 2 yrs because of covid delays getting this trip perfect. When we did have an issue, Shawnna was available right away to correct the situation. Fantastic experience: This was a great introductory trip for someone who has never been to Scandinavia. The tour is not a large group tour, but for small groups, in our case, family, sometimes joined by other small groups for some activities. We visited Denmark, Norway and Sweden, did biking and walking tours of the cities, had several ferry rides to different places, mainly along the Songefjord, along with some scenic train rides. A lavish breakfast buffet was included and the logistics were impeccable. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a 'land' (not cruise) tour of Scandinavia.

Marcelo's indept knowledge of Scandinavia gave us an itinerary that matched our interests and desires while making it very easy to travel around Norway without having to rent a car or use a more expensive car service. Traveling by train and ferry in Norway is a great way to go and Marcelo knows how to get you there. Most of the hotels were within walking distant from the train or ferry station. The hotels used on our tour were excellent. The breakfasts were some of the best hotel breakfasts we have ever eaten. Our emails were promptly answered with the information we needed. If you are going to anywhere in Scandinavia, then Discover Scandinavia Tours should be your tour company of choice. I just wish we had known about this company five years ago when we traveled to Iceland.

Fantastic experience: I wish there were six stars to say how happy we are with the Discover Scandinavia tour we took in July! We are not seasoned travelers, but we wanted to visit the Scandinavian birthplaces of our ancestors as well as see the highlights of the area. We didn’t know where to start or how to organize the journey. Thankfully, Marcelo Guimareas figured out the logistics. He arranged for us to see Vester Ulslev (Denmark), Bergen (Norway), Sokndal (Norway), Timra (Sweden), and exciting places in between. The vacation fit together like the parts of a symphony. We traveled by plane, train, automobile, and ship; and we enjoyed experiences we would never have discovered on our own. Even though we contracted coronavirus and missed most of the planned activities in Sweden, we both agree it was well worth the trip. My husband kept complimenting me on how well the trip was planned, and I had to keep reminding him that it was all due to Marcelo.

Fantastic experience: Our Scandinavia trip finally came to pass after waiting through the pandemic. Our DST trip was seamless. From being picked up at the airport in Copenhagen to being brought to the Stockholm airport 2 weeks later every hotel, ferry, train, flight, city pass, luggage transfer, and tour was perfectly selected, planned and paid ahead of time for us. 3 countries and never exchanged a cent of currency. Having posted so many of our sights on line I have several friends asking for our itinerary! One should still do one’s homework to customize what you do with your ample free time. We did not continue to Finland but chose to stay in Stockholm longer. From Copenhagen, to Oslo and Norway’s fiords and Balestrand, Bergen then Stockholm made us want to return for a further look at all 3 of these fabulous countries. Fantastic experience: We can’t say enough good about Discover Scandinavia Tours and how they planned our recent trip to Norway. Marcelo and Shawnna created a customized travel itinerary to meet our desires. Delayed by a year due to the global pandemic, this trip was 2 years in the making. Our trip of planes, trains, automobiles, boats and ferries across Norway that took us well into the Arctic Circle was a success. All of their selections in terms of accommodations, excursions and local providers were spectacular. Starting in Oslo, out hotel was centrally located and only steps from both the Opera House and the train station… perfect. The Oslo Pass allowed us to access attractions and use the transportation. Balestrand was a late addition but our hotel was definitely the place to be and again only steps from the ferry landing and the fjord RIB excursion. The excursion exceeded our expectations as they provided cold suits and we stayed perfectly dry….perfect. In Bergen, we took a walking tour of the area around the fish market including the UNESCO Hanseatic site. Our hotel and favorite restaurant was only steps from where our ferry landed. In Alesund we stayed in a boutique hotel and it was outstanding. The accommodations were great and the attached restaurant was spectacular. Once again centrally located, on the canal and only a short walk to the ferry to the Geiranger fjord. The Geiranger fjord excursion was just what we wanted. For us, the Lofoten Islands were the highlight. The islands were beautiful, our accommodates were top notch and we even got to play golf. On return Marcelo/Shawnna got us last minute flights to avoid getting stranded due to a local airline strike.

Fantastic experience: Marcelo and Shawanna were terrific. Everything on the trip was complete. We traveled with five daughters and we had a fantastic time. They are the best tour company we have ever used.

Fantastic experience: We returned from an 18-day tour of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland on July 2. Marcus and Shawnna did an outstanding job planning the trip. We had shorter small group tours in the larger cities, including a terrific food tour in Iceland. In Stockholm, we were welcomed into the home of a guide who had prepared a typical Swedish lunch for us. In Iceland, we had two full-day tours that were unforgettable. All of the hotels (several were historic) featured wonderful buffet breakfasts. Much of our transportation was included, but in most instances everything was within walking distance. Each of us had different favorites, but it is fair to say that the glacier tour/ice cave, the geysers, and the RIB safari boat were all highlights. We were so glad to have arranged this vacation through Discover Scandinavia. Working with you and your team through one of the most challenging times for planning travel has been so easy and smooth, despite us having to change plans at least twice. We could not have asked for better support and assistance, including an in country contact, which fortunately we didn't need to call upon. Altogether, we had an excellent vacation and couldn't be happier with the whole experience. Fantastic experience: My wife and I initially booked our Scandinavian tour for April of 2020, which was ... rough timing. Throughout all of the rapidly changing plans and COVID travel restrictions, Marcelo, Shawnna and crew were absolutely great. They communicated well, were flexible, and handled a ton of booking and rebooking, and really just took care of all the details. They were total lifesavers. We finally got to go on our trip in May of 2022, and it was decidedly worth the wait. We loved everywhere we visited, were impressed with all the thoughtful touches along the way, and absolutely would book with Discover Scandinavia again in a heartbeat.

Fantastic experience: In November 2019, I booked a trip to Denmark and Scandinavia, planning to travel in May 2020. I paid for half of the trip in 11/2019, with the balance due shortly before travel in spring 2020. When COVID exploded in March 2020, Marcelo and this team provided several options, one of which was to pay the remaining balance to lock in the cost and plan to travel in May 2021. This is what I opted to do. When May 2021 rolled around, travel was still not feasible, so we pushed it forward again to May 2022. Never, at any point, did DST suggest that I would, after all, owe more...despite the fact that their vendors were very likely charging *them* more to make up for COVID-related losses in the preceding two years. This, to me, is exceptional customer service. DST's communication throughout the worst of COVID was exemplary. Despite some hiccups that had nothing to do with DST, I had a wonderful experience, with highlights being bike tours in Copenhagen and Oslo, the Norway in a Nutshell experience, and zipping along the Sognefjord in a RIB. All of the hotels were excellent, conveniently located, and offered delicious, ample breakfasts. Shawnna was great to work with, responding promptly whenever I had questions, including a couple of instances while I was traveling. In addition to a detailed itinerary/'travel book', DST provided a helpful list of FAQs, addressing things like tipping policies, need for converters, etc. I wouldn't hesitate to travel with DST again, and I'd recommend them to others without reservation.

Fantastic experience: Marcelo planned a Luxury trip for us in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. This was one of my best trips ever. The hotels were outrageous 5 star hotels (very unique). We did bike rides in all 3 countries. These are not to be missed. We had lunch in Stockholm with an awesome lady in her home. This was a highlight of the trip, not to be missed. We booked this trip 3 years ago and finally got to go. Everyone speaks English in all 3 countries so very east to get around. Shawnna, Marcelo’s assistant is on top of everything and responds to all questions immediately and is very helpful.

Fantastic experience: Our family of four just returned from the 10 day Iceland (winter) Discover Scandinavia Tour and we had the trip of a lifetime! From the moment we landed, every detail of our trip had been taken care of. The tour operators Discover Scandinavia Tours uses were beyond excellent and the hotels we stayed in were top in their class. We needed to customize some of our tours to accommodate my 80 year old mother and DST went above and beyond to make sure she would have a wonderful experience, yet stay safe in the winter conditions. We had excellent communications throughout the process, even when the weather took an unexpected turn for the worst and we had to stay an extra night in one location due to road closures, DST local rep immediately jumped in to rearrange our itinerary for us. I cannot say enough wonderful things about DST and their tours. They do not disappoint with their level of care in putting together a fully immersive tour experience. Our family has travelled the world and this tour company and trip was Top 10 worthy!

Fantastic experience: ICELAND WINTER: NORTHERN LIGHTS & MORE (7 DAYS). We just completed this tour December of 2021. This is our 3rd experience with this tour company. I just cannot say enough great things about this trip. We saw the northern lights on our first night! Everything was perfectly arranged. We got to see and do so much. I highly rate this tour for anyone wanting to see Iceland and the Northern Lights. I hope to go back and see more of Iceland in the summer. Discover Scandinavia Tours makes it so easy. This tour was already prepared (and I would not change a thing) but previous experiences with them have been equally as great. Fantastic experience: We (three of us) traveled to Iceland on a mostly private tour. We did the walking and food tour of Reykjavik with a small group of three others and the helicopter tour with another couple. All other tours were private with experienced and knowledgeable guides. The accommodations were perfect. Marcelo worked with us on the itinerary that best suited our desires. Iceland is an outdoor experience of so many varying landscapes from glaciers to waterfalls to volcanos to lava fields. The food was excellent as well.

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful time in Iceland, and remember it as one of our top vacations! The highlight was hiking on Myrdalsjokull (a glacier), and the waterfalls are incredible! The excursion service was excellent. We especially appreciated the personalized transportation with friendly and knowledgeable guides. The hotels were ideally located and very nice. Fantastic experience: I helped design a 2 week Norway Tour with my sister-in-law for ourselves and our spouses (my brother) which we completed in October 2019. My ancestors came from Norway, so it was a long-awaited trip for me. The itinerary was similar to the Deluxe Norway Winter Tour online. We visited Oslo, Bergen, Flam, Alesund and Kirkenes. We participated in the first “Winter Early Bird Package” at the Kirkenes Snow Hotel (we got to do dog-sledding, snowmobiling and snowshoe walking very early in the season). The tour exceeded all our expectations! The travel connections were flawless, the flights, train rides, bus passes all worked, and we felt safe and empowered to enjoy ourselves immensely. Veronica helped us decide and plan which places to go, but also listened to our individual requests for what we were seeking. Our planning process started in March and took about a month (e.g. we needed an extra day in Oslo to meet my 2nd cousin and his family)! Veronica was patient with us. Shawnna then took over to secure the exact schedules and reservations/tickets so that we didn’t have to worry. From the airlines to the individual drivers, everyone showed up and did their jobs. I appreciate all the work Discover Scandinavia Tours did, and highly recommend their services to everyone! I could write more, no one reads that much!

Fantastic experience: Marcelo and his team prepared a month long spectacular tour for us to visit Iceland, Scandinavia and Russia. Every detail is perfect and it is a trip of a lifetime. Fantastic experience: I booked my first solo trip with Discover Scandinavia Tours. I was a bit nervous and overwhelmed with trying to plan a trip for myself. I also didn’t really know where to begin and I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to tie everything together in terms of transportation, hotels, etc. It’s also hard planning these sorts of things when you have never been to there and aren’t sure how it will be. I found Discover Scandinavia Tours online during my search for my Iceland adventure. Truthfully, I thought it was sketchy and was very skeptical. I gave my email and they responded very quickly! They arranged a phone call with me which I really enjoyed because it was a lot easier talking about what options I had and what I was looking for. Everyone was very helpful, responsive and you can tell that they truly enjoy what they do! I had 100% participation in planning my trip without any of the hassle! They were able to recommend based on my interests and even work on changing the itinerary around to fit my budget. That meant a lot to me! I didn’t know what to look for and their team does this all the time, so it made me feel comfortable knowing I could trust them with it. Fantastic experience: We absolutely loved our experience with this tour company. We did not want a traditional tour and preferred to go on our own but with professional guidance.. Marcelo customized a tour based on our wishes. We wanted to travel by rail, not a tour bus. Marcelo also suggested some ferry passages. We agreed to try that as well. These ferries were more like luxury cruise ships than ferries. Our suite on the ferry even had a big balcony with a private hot tub! We told Marcelo what types of things we wanted to do and where we wanted to go and he made additional suggestions. He arranged all of our hotels ( we loved them all) and he arranged some day tours but also built in free time for us to explore on our own. We went to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden and loved them all. I was actually excited about writing this review and this is a first for me to feel this passionate about writing a review. They were THAT GOOD! This was a girl’s trip with my sister and our mom. We are in our mid 50’s and late 70’s and we all were thrilled with this experience! I also need to mention Shawna who assisted Marcelo. They specialize in Scandinavia only and are truly experts since they do not offer tours anywhere else. I am already reviewing their site for my adventure. Looking at Finland and maybe Iceland!

Fantastic experience: Experiencing Norway in so many different ways was my favorite part of the trip. Veronica and Shawwna really delivered a personalized experience! We took every form of transportation (plane, trains, cruise ship, ferry, bicycles, kayaks, funicular, vehicle, super jeep, speed boat, foot) It was incredible! Every connection we had was flawless! In Balestrand, which was absolutely beautiful, we rented bikes since the kayak trip was cancelled and had a wonderful ride and the best apple cake I have ever had! Every town guide we had was so interesting, knowledgable and added a personal touch that was really memorable and special. In fact every guide we had from our transfers from the airport to kayak, bike and super jeep were awesome. You really listened and catered our trip to the experience we were looking for in Scandinavia. Also planned our two day lay over in Iceland to make the most of that time! Fantastic experience: Perfect experience for our first visit to Scandinavia. Planning by the staff was great. We had wonderful hotels, guides and transportation for our tour of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. We couldn't have asked for or expected a more grand vacation. If you're hesitant about exploring Scandinavia, don't hesitate! We were most impressed with all three countries. The people were great, their transportation systems beat the US, and the terrain and landscape were so beautiful. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Marcelo and his team put together a wonderful experience for us. We gave them the itinerary we wanted and they arranged for hotels and tours that met the needs of our family, from 15 years old to 76 years old. The hotels were top notch, well located, and very comfortable. The tours were all excellent and met all our desires for fun in Norway and Iceland. And, when a flight got cancelled, they were able to quickly rearrange the transportation so we were met promptly when we got off the new flight, even thought it was nearly midnight. In summary, they did an excellent job for us.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I just returned from a private month long trip to Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Helsinki planned by Marcelo, owner of Discover Scandinavia Tours. The trip involved many hotels, tours and transportation on trains, boats, ferries, ships and planes. Even with all of the potential problems in such an involved trip, everything went great and like clockwork, thanks for the attention to detail that was given by Marcelo and Shawna, his logistics manager. There was not one incident of a tour guide not showing up or a reservation not being made correctly. The experiences, which included food tours, private city walking tours, Sognefjord in a Nutshell, scenic train rides, Viking history tours, lots of private transfers, etc. were great with excellent guides and drivers. We feel Marcelo’s personal knowledge of Scandinavia added to the selection of activities and hotels. Our hotels were very central and quite comfortable. During our trip, Shawna was very accessible, answering any questions along the way and ensuring we had the latest information if something such as a train ride had been changed because of railroad construction. We would not hesitate to recommend this tour company, and we would be happy to use them again.

Fantastic experience: I arranged my flights,told Marcelo where we would like to go (and if it was feasable to do in 14 days ) and he and Shawna did the rest. Copenhagen,Oslo,Norway in a Nutshell,Bergen,Helsinki,Tallin,,Stockholm -I'm exhausted just writing it but as long as we were in the neighborhood,we wanted to see it all. Walking tours with local guides,food tour in Stockholm,the Oslo pass and overnight boats to Oslo and Stockholm were things I would not have done and I'm so glad we did. We chose to have drivers pick us up but taxis are always right there so don't be concerned if you choose not to have pre-arranged pick up. A great experience and will recommend to my friends and family.

My husband David and I have always planned our own trips but we didn't have much knowledge of Scandinavia and needed some advice regarding the best itinerary. We were a bit nervous to hand everything over to strangers but we are so very pleased that we did. Their intimate knowledge of Scandinavia is invaluable, they are extremely patient and will work with you and keep fine tuning your itinerary until you are 100% happy. All of our airport pick ups and hotel check ins were seamless. The walking/bike/food tours they organized were all outstanding and so much fun. I would recommend DST to anyone wanting a seamless, beautiful and stylish vacation without the hassle of coordinating planes/boats/trains yourselves. I would definitely recommend the porter service to take luggage straight to Balestrand so that you don't have to drag it on and off the train and boat, that was fantastic! Fantastic experience: What a wonderful experience. We had looked at group and cruise ship tours but didn't want to be tied down to a ship and groups did not give you enough time in the locations to explore on your own. The excursion presented by Marcelo and Shawnna was a perfect blend for us. The small group orientstion tours give you your bearings, a taste of the city, and history of Scandinavia and the Vikings, yet still leave time to explore and just enjoy being on vacation together. Accommodations were all first rate, immaculately clean, comfy, and every one a "room with a view". Staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotels were centrally located with major attractions and transportation within an easy walk. Four minutes to the train in Copenhagen. The countryside is stunning. After a tour guide mentioned that his wife was from Brazil I offered that the head of the company we booked with was from Brazil. "Oh, Marcelo!" The familiarity with the countries, attention to detail, and personal relation with supporting organizations are what guarantee the unique, diverse, organized trip we enjoyed, and you can too.

Fantastic experience: Marcelo and Shawnna did a fantastic job of arranging a 2-week Sweden and Norway trip for my me, my wife and our daughter! This was a trip to celebrate our 30-year wedding anniversary. We decided to include our daughter as she has done a bit more traveling then we have done. We booked it last fall and could not have been happier. We wanted a mix of “on our own time” and local tours and sight seeing excursions which is just what we got. Our trip included a 3 hour bike tour in Stockholm, an all-day Viking tour and then a train rides over to the fiords via the Flam railway. The 2nd to our last day we had a private walking tour in Bergen Norway which was really nice. We got to hear from a local resident who was born in Bergen Norway. She took us to the fish market and gave us some great tips (she buys her seafood there 5 days a week). My daughter and I also enjoyed a rib boat ride on the fiords which was also amazing as it gave us a up front and personal tour of some awesome fiord features in Balestrand. The fiords were absolutely breathtaking and hard to describe to our family. Even the pictures don’t do it justice, you just have to see them up close and personal as we did. It was amazing how different each country is. We all think the hotels that were booked for our trip were great choices, the food from the breakfast buffets were absolutely wonderful at the hotels we stayed at. The hotel in Balestrand on the fiord was just incredible with all of the history and open view on the fiord. We’re glad to have stayed in the older part of the hotel to enjoy the rich history of what people experienced back when is was built in the year 1752. All of our hotels chosen for us were conveniently located to the main transportation area and/or city center. This was a huge win as we were able to use public transportation to visit other major nearby cities and to the airport when we left Sweden to go to Oslo. All things considered the 2 weeks went by really fast. We were always on the move and spent very little time in our hotel room. I must say we used every possible means of transportation that each country had to offer with the exception of horse and buggy. Marcelo Included the “Oslo Pass” which worked out really well. I believe it’s a great package and very happy we had it. It’s well worth the money as we used the travel options, went to the majority of the museums and also used it for the discounts on our restaurant while in Oslo. It made it cost effective and others tourist we encountered along the way were asking how they could get the Oslo Pass. I wish we had an extra day in Bergen. By the end of trip we were all very tired and the flight home was very early. Having an extra day would have been good to allow more exploration and time to try out different restaurant options etc. But we needed to get back in time to get ready for going back to work ;( I’d like very much to go back at some time and would highly recommend others to consider working with Marcella and Shawnna & take advantage of some of the wonderful tour guides that we were lucky enough to have experienced during our trip. The airports in Sweden and Norway are easy to navigate and we really had no bad experiences with the people in Sweden or Norway. Everyone we encountered was very polite, and willing to help us and talk in English. All of the people that led the tours were really easy to talk to and were a wealth of knowledge! This was a great vacation.

Fantastic experience: Review of Discover Scandinavia Tours Family of four traveling to Iceland the first week of November – two adults and two children ages 3 & 5 Epic trip. On very late notice – two weeks in advance – Marcelo & Shawnna put together an incredible itinerary for my family and me to Iceland: we stayed in Reykjavík; we toured the countryside; and we saw the Aurora Borealis (northern lights). My family and I had a wonderful time, particularly our two young daughters. Upon landing, the driver picked us up from Keflavík (KEF) as planned and took us directly to the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal hot spring and a very popular tourist spot for good reason. It was a great introduction to Iceland and Marcelo & Shawnna arranged for the driver to stay onsite for as long as we wanted before heading to our hotel to check in. The hotel that Marcelo & Shawnna scheduled, Apotek Hotel in Reykjavík, was perfect for our family. We stayed in one room as a family and the hotel set up twin beds for the girls while we had a large bed. There was plenty of room with a sitting area though we did not stay in the hotel much. Apotek Hotel included a continental breakfast, which was a great way to start each day. The restaurant itself is very nice, and breakfast was no exception. Further, Apotek Hotel is very convenient, and we were able to walk easily to a lot of great restaurants; clothing was casual. One could dress up, but not required, and most people wore smart-casual attire. Four restaurants to point out: 1. Fish Company – the best shellfish soup and excellent sushi – we had lunch there after the Blue Lagoon and think it was the best meal we had 2. Fish Market – outstanding but pricey; they have four dishes they do half price/portion for kids 3. Grill Market – very popular and great venue, but we were not as impressed with the food as the hype would suggest 4. Gott – excellent food and very good with the kids, had colored pencils and drawing place mats but in a civilized atmosphere In addition, Marcelo & Shawnna set us up with a local guide company, Amazing Tours; the company is outstanding. We were very pleased with the guides and the vehicles. Marcelo & Shawnna even helped coordinate car seats for the off-road Land Cruiser for our girls. The Golden Circle tour was great and we loved it – other-worldly topography (the continental shelf, waterfalls and geysers), a stop at a local farm for fresh ice cream, and a stop at a greenhouse tomato farm for hot soup and Bloody Marys. We also did the Southern Region tour, which included a glacier, waterfalls, and the seashore. The black sand beaches are remarkable, and on the Southern Tour we were able to see up close the natural sets from Star Wars Rogue One (opening scene) and Game of Thrones. Marcelo & Shawnna also coordinated a city tour of Reykjavík. It was a great opportunity to see the city, its history, and relax a bit, as there was less walking/hiking associated with this tour. A few sites on the city tour included: Hallgrímskirkja (modern Lutheran cathedral), Perlan (beautiful glass-domed observation restaurant and museum overlooking Reykjavík), Bessastaðir (the official residence of the President of Iceland), and Höfði House (location of a 1986 historic summit between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev). Marcelo & Shawnna made this trip seamless. My family and I had an incredible and memorable time, and I look forward to using Discover Scandinavia Tours for future trips to Iceland and other parts of Scandinavia. I highly recommend Marcelo & Shawnna and Discover Scandinavia Tours for your Scandinavian adventures with family and friends.

Fantastic experience: Marcelo and Shawna were both very helpful in developing the perfect customized plan for my trip to Norway. As a solo traveller, I usually go on road trips, but for this adventure, I travelled by train, boat and plane. Discover Scandinavia Tours helped me design an itinerary that allowed me to absorb each beautiful destination. They booked the most amazing accommodations, arranged for all travel tickets, and signed me up for a few fun excursions. DST were very attentive and flexible in order to include a few of my challenging off-the-beaten-track requests. I had a wonderful and relaxing trip in a stunning country. Fantastic experience: Our Scandinavian tour was every thing we could have hoped for, and more, thanks to Marcelo and Discover Scandinavia Tours. Six overnight locations in 17 days--with coordinated overnight ferry, SAS flights between countries, rail and boat transport to the fjords, city passes and local tours all arranged perfectly! Each hotel reflected the country and culture and met our tastes exactly, and it was so reassuring to know that if there were a problem--which there wasn't--Marcelo and his team would be on call to help. Fantastic experience: I recently booked a trip to Denmark, Norway and Sweden and have nothing but the best to say about our trip! The accommodations (all hotels plus a cruise ship from Copenhagen to Oslo) were lovely, clean and very centrally located. We received accurate instructions for local tour meet-ups that were easy to follow and just a short walk from our hotel. On these tours, we learned a lot about the history of each country. The local tour guides were very good, informative and engaging. Plus, they were on time for hotel pickups or meeting places. Since I'm a bit of a 'foodie', the food tour in Copenhagen was a nice introduction to Danish cuisine. In fact, I don't think we had a bad meal on our entire trip! One of the big highlights of the trip was the train/boat/bus ride through Norway. I particularly loved all the waterfalls, seeing glaciers and the boat ride up the fjord. Definitely worth every minute! We appreciate the care Discover Scandinavia Tours took in ensuring all reservations were made and ready for us when we arrived at whatever spot. It was nice to be able to customize our trip with helpful suggestions from this company. I would definitely recommend them to anyone planning a trip to Scandinavia.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I recently returned from a 16-day trip which included four days in Iceland and the remaining time in Norway. We wanted to travel independently and were so happy when we found Discover Scandinavia Tours. Marcelo arranged a customized tour for us and booked all internal travel, hotels, city passes and some excursions. The entire trip went off without a hitch. The quality of the hotels was top notch and all were conveniently located close to the city centres. We alternated between time to explore on our own and organized excursions. Norway and Iceland are popular tourist destinations and having pre-arranged bookings was a must. Marcelo and his assistant were helpful, made great suggestions and responded to emails promptly. If coach tours and cruises are not your preferred way to travel, and you don’t want to be tied to someone else’s schedule then DST is a wonderful option. 5 stars!
