Fantastic experience: I called and spoke with Keona at Costco Travel to book a cruise and she was phenomenal. What amazing customer service. I have booked with Costco in the past but Keona far exceeded my expectations with her stellar professionalism and service. I highly recommend Costco Travel and Keona!!!
Negative experience: Ripoff. I have been a big fan of Costco for years, but this is my first experience purchasing a "package" deal from them and I will never do it again. They lie when they give you a "total package cost", then ask you to select seats for all flights. THEN they take your money. Afterwards, they tell you to contact the airline for seat selection, who try to rip you off with additional fares. When I called to leave a complaint with Costco, they gave me the runaround, then told me I couldn't complain until AFTER my trip. Find a good travel agent; this company does a lot of things well, but providing travel packages isn't one of them. (Of course they refer to their endless "adhesion agreements" about how the airlines MAY charge you additional for seats, but only AFTER they take your seat selections. Nonsense.)
Fantastic experience: Having now booked trips to DisneyWorld, Hawaii and the U.K. with Costco Travel I trust them completely. They do the leg work so you can focus on smaller details. Every hotel was superb. And you get more cash back when you use your Costco credit card. Highly recommend!
Positive experience: Costco Travel makes packaging airfare and hotel together a great bargain! The price includes an airport shuttle to and from the airport and morning breakfast coupons. We were very happy with our booking from the mainland to Oahu. The hotel that is a part of the package was great! The only complaint we had was on check out day. Checkout from the hotel is at 12 noon, and the shuttle to take you back to the airport isn’t until 6pm, then the flight home wasn’t until 9pm! That was the biggest frustration for us. Dragging our luggage around town until the shuttle picks us up 6 hours later! Was frustrating! We’d book again, but would plan differently.
Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with costco travel. I used their online service to rent a car, and the website allowed me to rent from enterprise rent a car. They offered a rental agreement, which I did 2 weeks in advance. Unfortunately, when the day arrived, I received a call from the enterprise location I chose as pick up to inform me they did not have any cars available. I offered to drive over an hour to other enterprise locations, but they declined. They instead said they would call me if and when they had a car. I went to costco warehouse, and customer service tried to help me. I spoke to multiple people from Enterprise corp and costco Travel, but no one helped. Sadly, in the end, they could not rent me a car even though I had a rental agreement. I was told not to use costco travel to rent cars by an enterprise employee because they don't offer guarantees through third-party companies. Costco is good as wholesale but NOT for anything related to travel. Enterprise had very unprofessional reps. Horrible customer service
Negative experience: Booked a family trip to the Big Island. Later on, got a message that the resort we booked will undergo extensive maintenance. However, Costco won't make any changes to their cancellation policy (which incur big penalties), but are happy to rebook me (now only 10 days from the trip) to another resort with the current inflated rate. It would be one thing if I booked a resort knowing they are undergoing maintenance (and get a lower rate as a result), but plainly laughing at the customers who are calling because they are stuck paying high rate for a resort that should not deserve that rate is super uncool. Zero star for Costco. They need to provide a meaningful discount on the existing resort rate, or better negotiated rate with other comparable hotels in the area.
Fantastic experience: I booked a family trip to Los Cabos. I had the most amazing experience with Costco Travel. The agents were pleasant and great to talk with. I had an all inclusive package which included air travel, ground travel, food and drinks package. All at a great price. I received so many perks for booking through Costco. I had to make some adjustments to my ground travel from the hotel to the airport. Holly assisted me and gave me a call back to confirm my adjustment. I would recommend booking your next trip with Costco.
Fantastic experience: This is a work location not intended for the public. If you are interested in travrl information or services it is best to call Costco Travel Directly, as there is no face to face service or travel booking here. When speaking to them by phone they are very professional and fast and can book any kind of trip you are looking for, as they are all local licensed travel agents.
Negative experience: I booked a cruise for 4 people through Costco Travel with the assumption they get the best price for members. A few weeks later I was flying United and saw an Ad for United Cruises so I looked into them to see how Costco compared. What I found is I paid $200 per person more. I called to see if Costco would upgrade my rooms one level and they would not. So much for using Costco Travel for my future vacations :(
Negative experience: I have used Costco travel annually for quite a few years now and they were always great picks for vacation. This year however, 2024, the hotel in Hilo (SCP Hilo Hotel) was terrible along with the car rental company (Budget in Kailua Kona, and Budget in Kauai). Costco Travel needs to keep up on their homework for which companies are of value to their customers because I trusted them to be legit since they are listed under Costco. This year's expensive 2-island vacation was a bust.
Positive experience: I love using Costco travel. Never had issues except for there cash card offer. I rented a SUV in Oct. that offered a $25.00 cash card. I never received it so in Feb. I contacted them. I was told they have no record of me returning the vehicle. I contacted Budget in Ogden Utah & they confirmed I rented from 10/17-10/24. I contacted CT again but have had no response. It's like they do not believe I rented the vehicle. ————-Update———— Costco travel contacted me & was more than happy to fix the problem. Thank you so much for the friendly staff for personally calling me. Today I received the $25.00 shopping card. Update again--------- I rented a SUV again in June that offered a $30.00 cash card. It's been over 2 1/2 months & nothing. I filled out the inquiry but no response. Really frustrating.
Positive experience: I used their car rental n it was okay. Not much of a discount on the rental compared to not using it. Maybe a dollar or two u save. Not worth the Hassel of to getting all I have to do to get a 2 dollar discount. It doesn't have a place to select for senior discount, or military discount, n the car place u r renting from doesn't ask if u wanted or needed these discounts. Hopefully they will read this n change it so is seniors n military can get those discounts if they had it. The people at the rental agency don't ask if we have the military or seniors discounts. Maybe they do when u come to rent ur car. I will find out friday when I go pickup my rental. Thank u n have a good day.
Negative experience: Do not use for renting car…we were not given the car we rented, we were told it was similar but it didn’t not hold the suitcases it said it would. Costco will not back you up when Avis misrepresented what we were getting. We had to rent an additional car and Costco has refused to compensate it! Costco you are better than this, this is why I used you!! Never again
Negative experience: Wow! What a joke. Used Costco Travel to book a rental car for vacation. Wish I didn’t have to leave any stars on the review. Had a reservation in advance, still waited in an extremely long queue to get paperwork. Same extremely long queue was then waiting two garages over to receive their rentals. One employee said she was going to get a shuttle van to take everyone to their cars and that process was still going on when our car finally arrived. It was smaller than the one we booked but considered same “class”. Ours was dirty, moist ketchup still on a seat, 1/4 tank of gas. Within 24 hours, had to add a quart of oil after a warning light came on. It’s made for a miserable vacation so far.
Negative experience: Don't ever use Costco Travel. Your experience will suffer. Why? We all know never to use Budget Rental. But Costco uses them. Oops. Budget is a mess here in Orlando. Not worth the hours-long wait. 100% avoidable with a better rental company (Budget is the bottom rung).
Negative experience: Don't waste your time, Costco travel is not the same as the Costco... I love Costco. However, Costco travel customer services is HORRIBLE, RUDE, BELITTLING, VERY CONDESCENDING AND DISHONEST. The travel agents Don't tell you everything. For example if you book a vacation package with airfare and you cancel for any reason (including Covid-19 related) you don’t get a full refund. My vacation package included airfare and hotel tickets to Disney world, however the dates we were schedule to travel to Florida (Covid-19 cases very high), I tried to schedule for any other date however the only option was to cancel and reschedule for another date in the future . I agreed that... however what I later learned is once airfare is purchased YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR MONEY BACK, EVEN IF IT IS A REFUNDABLE TICKET. Refundable tickets come with a 200 -250 rebooking fee and can only be applied to a future vacation package. If you choose air credit, you prevent the forfeiture $200- $250 fee per ticket. the time of annual usage starts the date of booking not the day of travel. After all of this.... would you want to book another vacation with them?
Negative experience: I would give CostcoTravel 0 stars if I was allowed. I got a call 6 days before my trip to inform me that my flight had been canceled. I asked to be put on a different flight that day, but none were available. The soonest they were able to get me booked was a day later, cutting my vacation a day short. I was given the option of getting a refund for the flight portion of the trip so I could purchase tickets with a different airline, but upon looking (since it was now only 6 days away), flights on that day were $3,000 more than what Costco would refund me. They totally shafted me, only giving me notice 6 DAYS BEFORE I WAS TO FLY!!! I then asked when they knew the flight was canceled and they responded with MARCH 13TH, WHICH WAS 2 MONTHS BEFORE TODAY!!!! I couldn't believe they didn't notify me until 6 days before my trip when they knew months in advance. No texts. No emails. Even my itinerary online in my account looked fine and didn't have a notification that said my flight had cancelled. I will NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH COSTCO TRAVEL EVER AGAIN. Their negligence is stunning and they didn't even apologize. In fact, when I asked them for a refund for the 1 night we are now missing at the resort, they said, "well... We'll try to reach out to the resort and hope that they help you out." No, no, no. This is on you! I don't care if they refund me or you do... this is your fault Costco Travel! DON'T EVER USE COSTCO TRAVEL. I've been taken much better care with places like Expedia and the like. I realized that flights get delayed and canceled all the time... But they knew for months and could have told me back in March. At that time, I could have found other reasonable flights. Never again Costco. Never again. You all suck.
Negative experience: We bought our all inclusive trip to cancun for our family through Costco and we're so excited. Then we arrived at our resort to find the amenities were not what was said to be there. Internet never worked while on our trip. Rooms were outdated with broken items everywhere. The Costco bd travel agent messed our excursion days up so we were stuck outside excursion for 2 hours while they figured it out. Cockroaches in rooms. When we came home and complained to Costco travel they started a case but never did anything about it. We got back from our trip feb 16th. And still today have not gotten any answers from Costco. Don't book with Costco. Rip off!!!
Negative experience: Costco Travel deserves ZERO stars! We booked a trip in November 2021 for Spain and Italy leaving May 31st, 2022. I ask about Covid requirements and additionally looked up entry requirements up on the US embassy website for both countries. The requirements were that you had to test negative for Covid with proof before entering both countries. The travel agent/customer service agent stated you will be able to take Travel Insurance and you should be covered. The requirements to enter Italy changed in early 2022. If over 50 years old, you must be vaccinated to enter the Italy. I called Costco travel numerous times and spent over 25 hours on hold or with a customer service agent and supervisor To try to cancel the trip or change our vacation. While the representatives from Costco were courteous and polite we were not able to rectify the solution or come up with an amicable alternative. They told me the Iberia air portion of the trip was nonrefundable and I would lose over $600. Additionally, to cancel the American airlines flights I would lose $300 per person. We had four people going so this was over $1800 for basically nothing Except a lot of frustration and waste of my time. Costco travel told me to call my Travel Insurance about having the loss covered. The travel insurance, that they recommended by the way, would not cover anything if there was a change to the country requirements where we were going. Therefore, travel insurance would not cover anything. I had put down over $6200 for the deposit on the trip and paid an additional $510 for Travel Insurance. To change the trip you must book something within one year of the original date it was purchased. Also, Costco travel broke down the amount into airfare and hotel fees. I could take airline credits with American that equaled over $5100 but had to be used by November 2022. They said I would just lose the Iberia air or I could have airline credits. Iberia air only has flights in Europe. Therefore, unless I was going to be in Europe in the next year that was a total loss. Costco travel also broke down dollars into four individual people and that was the only person that could use the airline credits. After I was finally able to talk to a supervisor they agreed to refund half of my Iberia air which was only a little over $300. They only agreed to do this because they had not disclosed that Iberia air was all nonrefundable. They charged me an additional $300 per person to cancel the airfare portion with American Airlines. The agent and supervisor acted like they were doing me a favor for giving me the additional $300. I still lost over $1500 for absolutely nothing due to no fault of my own. If you decide to book a trip through Costco travel BEWARE!! I have used American fly away vacations, Expedia, Travelocity, and other travel consultants. Never have I had such a bad experience as this one! AGAIN, I LOST OVER $1500 and NUMEROUS HOURS OF TIME!
Negative experience: My partner and I booked through Costco travel for the first time and at this point definitely want to get the message out to everyone "Beware". We booked several months in advance a trip from PDX to Hawaii. At the time we felt like booking through Costco would not only be convenient but would save us money. We could not have been more wrong. The issue started 3 weeks before our trip and noticed that our seats had been changed and we were placed in the very back of the plane against the bathroom wall not only on one flight but both departure and arrival flight. These seats have very little to no recline, hope your social because you'll get to meet everyone on the plane as they wait in line for the restroom on a 6 hour flight, maybe you can give the passenger in front of you a good head massage as they very well may be reclining in your lap. We were told from Costco travel that they had nothing to do with our seat change and believe this to be true but from our perception we were the lucky chosen ones because we booked through Costco Travel. This got me to doing some research on cost and found that if we would have booked the exact same package ourselves it would have been 400.00 dollars cheaper than going through Costco. I wonder if Alaska would treat direct Alaska customers better than ones booked through Costco. I feel like Costco Travel should made an effort to help us fix the seats by the bathroom but all we got was a blame game. I really felt like we were treated as if we came from the bottom of the barrel simply because we chose to book through Costco and definitely will take the extra step next time and hopefully avoid this. Beware! with Costco
