Fantastic experience: Scotland and Ireland 2025 – The Grand Trip I have been fortunate enough to have done some travel in my days. When looking back I’ve thought, how lucky am I to have seen and experienced the places I’ve been. I was planning a trip to Scotland and Ireland, two places I’ve never been to on vacation. What would it be like? It was just a friend and I so it will be a different trip than with our usual group of friends. We worked with Kate from River Oaks Travel Group to plan our journey. Two weeks seemed like a lot of time but enough to get a sense of both countries. We dug into the details: locations, accommodations, experiences, food, and modes of transportation. Lots to sort through!! It was finally time to take off on our adventure in late March/early April. We were ready for anything! I don’t think either one of us expected what we have both described as a ‘trip of a lifetime!’ We were certainly blessed with remarkable weather…nearly bluebird skies for 2 weeks! It was stunning. We stayed at premier hotels and resorts in Scotland during our stays in Edinburgh, Braemar, and Perthshire. The service was impeccable. I’ll mention two of the unexpected, magnificent experiences we had. At the Fife and Arms, our whisky sommelier (Mark) mentioned that with the weather being so clear we should talk to the concierge to see if the ‘stargazer’ guide was available. We asked and they were able to set us up with him the next evening. Jim came by at 9pm and gave us an excellent slide show on the constellations that we would see on our adventure. Off we went into town with our walking sticks, headlamps, past the church, and up a hill (through someone’s backyard) and up we continued to go. At some point, Jim said ‘this is where we’ll stop.’ We looked up and yes, indeed, it was clear enough (and with a full moon to boot!) to see all the stars on the list. About ten minutes in, Jim said, there it is! He showed us how to take a night picture with time lapse to capture what was our first sighting of the Northern Lights!! It's something that was on our bucket list and we sure didn’t expect to see it on this trip. It was thrilling!! Breathtaking, magical even. Here are a few shots. We took as many photos as we could. It seemed to show up just for us and within 30 minutes it had vanished. The second unexpected experience was when we were at Gleneagles Resort. It is a remarkably grand place. We worked our way through our well-planned itinerary and after our morning outing with Ian (our air rifle coach), he reminded us that dropping us back off at the resort might be challenging because of the ‘finish line’ being in front of the building. What finish line? What we didn’t know about is every year at this time the Flying Scotsman Road Race concludes at Gleneagles…certainly a fitting place after 650 miles and four days of racing pre-1948 cars. We got back from our excursion to see all the cars ‘finish’ to bagpipes playing, champagne flowing and the joy of happy drivers and fans to close out an amazing day at this glorious place. We celebrated all of it at the Century Bar and the Andrew Fairlie, the Michelin restaurant. Fabulous! Our days in Ireland were equally gorgeous and our trip was packed with world-class accommodations in Dublin, Cork, and Cong and the service was exceptional. Our trip concluded as it started, in spectacular fashion at Ashford Castle! Jaw-dropping amazing! Our one regret is that we didn’t have more time here…but it is on our next Ireland trip list…as is continuing to recommend and work with Kate and the River Oaks Travel team. A world-class travel planning experience and with a travel app that worked flawlessly. Imagine all your daily plans and activities literally in the palm of your hand…all you need do is show up and enjoy!!

Fantastic experience: We used Kate at River Oaks Travel and she did an amazing job setting up our recent French Polynesia vacation and cruise. From setting up all the flights (to and between 3 islands) boat and airport transfers,hotels, restaurants and everything else, Kate took care of everything for us. From boarding our flight at IAH to our final excursion to the Jameson Midleton Distillery in Cork our days were filled with extraordinary experiences. Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed working with Ana at River Oaks Travel Agency! I reached out to her wanting to book a kid friendly trip to Mexico with an ocean view. She sent me multiple venues and prices within the date ranges. She responded very quickly for any changes or questions that I had. Once we chose our preferred location, she helped book everything and uploaded all the information in the River Oaks Travel App. All the confirmation numbers and details were in one place. I could still get access to the documents for the vendors requiring confirmation without WiFi which is useful when I don’t have signal in a different country. On our travel day, everything ran very smoothly. Upon reaching our resort room, we had a welcome sign with balloons, wine, and cookies waiting for us, which my kids loved! Fantastic experience: The Trip Of A Lifetime! Thanks to River Oaks Travel Agency's facilitation, I and two friends enjoyed amazing sights and experiences during 15 days in Europe. Utilizing the agency's generous benefits allowed us to have free hotel breakfasts and a 100 euro credit in each place that we stayed. In addition, the thoughtful "Welcome to Vienna, Venice, Paris and Dublin!" gifts that we found in our hotel rooms upon arrival only served to sweeten the pot. Negative experience: I recently had an unfortunate experience with River Oak Travel Agency. The individual was quite rude and made unwarranted assumptions about my budget without presenting a formal proposal. Given that I am getting married in Lake Como, a location where I anticipated a more lavish expenditure, I expected for them to understand that I'm not getting married there to be on a budget. The situation felt reminiscent of a "Pretty Woman" moment, and I found this to be both disheartening and lacking in understanding. Update: See I was going to even give you the benefit of the doubt by providing your agency a second Chance when your agency called me to remove the review but after this response it’s making it seem as I was delusional about your agency response when I initially called. Not one time did your company ask Me Details, dates, size of the party anything pertaining to the wedding in specific To make a realistic determination to See if your agency would be a fit for what I was looking for or if it aligned with your services. Only thing I got the chance to say to you guys was My wedding planner gave us a brief pamphlet of hotels that are located near our wedding Venue And once I provided the names of the hotels( which are fabulous btw , Hilton lake como , Sheraton como ) Shift of mood And a remark was even made about the caliber that your agency Associates with. Which I restated this is what the wedding planner suggested, but in no way or form did we have a contract or any obligation To commit to those Specific hotels. I understand that you want to save face, But when I received the review it felt your only goal was for me to remove the review (which you asked me several times ) instead of actually taking the time to correct the situation. I would say this definitely could be handed differently and hopefully

Fantastic experience: Dasha and her team at River Oaks Travel are knowledgeable and have been very helpful to us over the years when planning numerous trips. They have worked closely with us to plan private pre-cruise tours. These included hotel reservations, tour options, and private transportation between cities. On one such transfer to our ship they planned a stop at a winery where we had a private tasting and a wonderful lunch beside the vines. They are also available when help is needed while traveling. We contacted Dasha one Sunday morning after checking into our overseas flight. One of our business class seats was no longer available. By the time we boarded we were both in our original business class seats. The staff at River Oaks Travel have recommended and booked for us many wonderful hotels, cruises, activities and arranged for transportation and guides in beautiful places throughout the world.

Fantastic experience: Everything about our experience with River Oaks Travel screams, "Add another star!" Samantha executed my Hawaiian honeymoon design flawlessly and kept me in the loop at every step. If there was a hitch, she found choices for us. She arranged airlines to, from, and within the island state. She booked hotels, rental cars, and special events, like a whale watch and a sunset cruise. She arranged to have us greeted with leis, and the agency continually provided timely text prompts for special events and airline check-ins during our two-week stay. The agency fee was virtually discounted 30-50% by $100 hotel credits. And the full amount was worth it just to have the details handled while we worked through our wedding, out-of-town guests, and a range of other issues that absorbed our time. Using a travel agent is a leap of faith. River Oaks and Samantha fully honored that faith.

Fantastic experience: Cannot give enough kudos for a fabulous trip to Washington DC! Kate did a wonderful job arranging an itinerary based on what we wanted to accomplish as well as some recommendations of their own and it could not have been any better of an experience. The tours we went on were very personalized, one-on-one experiences. One particular has been doing tours in DC for almost 30 years (Eric M.) and as such was extraordinarily knowledgable. We were able to accomplish so much in so little time and it never felt rushed or like a canned presentation. Fantastic experience: We were scheduled to return to Houston from Jamaica on a Thursday but due to a one day air traffic controller strike, all flights in and out of Jamaica on Thursday were cancelled. I immediately called Samantha and within the hour she had me rebooked for a Friday departure. Others in our group, who did not go through River Oaks Travel took hours to rebook and some had to settle for Sunday or Monday departures at increased airfares. Outstanding Service!!!
