AAA Washington D.C.

Negative experience: I was a AAA Mid-Atlantic customer for a couple of years. I decided to cancel this year. You can only cancel by phone- I called in January, spoke with an agent who assured me he had cancelled it. Today, I had a charge on my card from AAA. Turns out I had been charged multiple times. I called AAA customer service and was informed my membership wasn’t cancelled and on that January phone call my address had been changed to another address- that address is an incorrect address from me. They would not refund the money I paid because in their estimation it is my fault for not noticing the charges sooner. They were unconcerned that an agent changed my address over the phone to one that was incorrect, and unconcerned that he did not cancel the membership. I asked to escalate my concern to a manager or supervisor and was told no.

Negative experience: Went here to get an international driving permit. Brought my own photos and all. The process was fairly quick, but then at then end, she charged me $37. I did a second take because I could have sworn it was cheaper online, but that’s what she said it was and I was in a rush to get to work so I just paid it. I shouldn’t have. AAA’s website confirms that it should have been $20, but according to the receipt she also charged me $15 for passport photos that she never took. And that she must have known she never took, since she literally just glued and stapled the ones I brought with me 5 minutes earlier… I think she was far more focused on trying to sell me an AAA membership than she was on accurately handling the transaction I actually wanted to complete.

Fantastic experience: These guys were quick and very efficient. The price for the alternator and labor wasnt bad at all. Would recommend for AAA members that have car trouble in the falls church area. Very fair price

Negative experience: Called in today 12/8/22 at 5:00 pm. It’s after 8:39 pm and still awaiting service from AAA. Thinking twice about this company dispatcher service to my father a 97 year old World War II veteran.

Positive experience: Several minutes of wait with two attendants on the phone, talking to other customers; getting international drivers permit was quite quick and smooth, except it's not an official permit, and just a piece of paper. I got it just in case, but didn't need it anywhere to rent cars. 4.5 stars - 5 if no 10+ minute wait.

Negative experience: Don’t get triple aaa , you’ll be paying a monthly fee just for when you finally need them you’ll be waiting atleast 3 hours or more, no matter how serious the circumstances. better off calling a local tow company

Fantastic experience: They always come on time. I have a basic membership with only 4 service calls, and the basic used to give you 5. With upgraded membership though, you get 5 and a free car battery!

Fantastic experience: Went in for an EZ-Pass Flex and left with that and fantastic AAA roadside coverage for my next few road trips. For those of your who think AAA is nor for your lifestyle think again. Lynne was a great ambassador who educated me on all the great services AAA provides. Recommend coming and signing up for their services.

Fantastic experience: This was the most pleasant car service experience!! Henry A was incredibly helpful and showed me exactly what happened to my tire. It look less than an hour from calling in the service to leaving with my tire fixed! Couldn’t be happier

Fantastic experience: Both the tow truck drivers were very kind and professional. The weather was frightful. They stayed & helped until I felt calm & confidant about the vehicle. They sold me a battery with a great warranty. And the second tow truck driver even offered to follow me home in the terrible weather. Thanks to the cheerful dispatchers as well.

Negative experience: Avoid the DC AAA office at all costs. They run on a different system and charge you for passport photos and many other services that are offered for no charge with a membership per the corporate AAA. Buying a membership from them will NOT transfer to any other AAA! It is better to just purchase services from online or use CVS or Walgreens for passport photos. The staff closes the offices early or whenever they feel like it. They also extremely short and rude. They do NOT honor what they promise either, expect additional charges once the transaction is complete. The membership here is a BAD DEAL!

Positive experience: I give my granddaughter a gift membership and live in SC. I was set up for automatic payment and an upgrade when I signed up for regular membership and for yearly and was billed a month before due. Did not find out until I called to pay for another year as had not set up for automatic or upgrade. I think they must do the easy thing for them and push the automatic button. Would not give me a credit as said I had already paid for something I did not ask for. Difference this cost me was $122 when should have been. $67. To get what you want do not let them sign you up for AUTOMATIC. Have not had trouble in Carolinas and Louisiana for other grands as not set up for AUTOMATIC

Negative experience: Worst service EVER. Called before 2pm for a tow truck. Given wait time of 65 minutes. Called at 4pm when no truck showed. First service request was apparently never submitted. Sat on hold for more than 20 min while rep tried to determine what to do and talked to supervisor to "expedite" request. Assured that a tow truck would arrive no later than 5:19pm (but "probably much earlier"). At 5:19pm called AGAIN - service message said truck would arrive by 7:21pm!!! Waited to speak to service representative - put on hold for ANOTHER 20 minutes. Very apologetic but told that there was only ONE company that serviced my area in DC (A.N.T. Towing) and that it was backlogged - earliest it would arrive was now 7:23pm. I have been paying for AAA since 1990...I feel like an utter fool for wasting so much money to get such CR*P service.

Negative experience: Highly unreliable service. Didn’t turn up as promised and didn’t call back.

Negative experience: The tow truck driver never showed up. I waited for a while. Then I cancelled my subscription because I signed up AAA that same day. After speaking with them and receiving email about my refund they only refunded me part of the money I paid . I'm so disappointed. Also I want my money back. Now I have to wait until a supervisor gets to work to review and maybe call me back. I wish I could have had the a good experience.

Positive experience: Came here to get an International Driver's Permit. Process was quick and easy. Printed and filled out the application at home, biked into the office, took some passport-sized photos, paid, then signed my new IDP. My biggest gripe is that the cost of those photos - $13 - nearly matched the cost for the IDP itself - $20. Definitely hit a CVS or Walgreens for the pics.
