Negative experience: I swear if I could leave a 0 star review or a negative star review I would. We broke down at midnight, and immediately call AAA. With the service we got I can only assume AAA stands for Absence of Assistance Agency. We received 2 separate phone calls an hour apart from each other, the first one came an hour after our request was submitted, and the 2nd came an hour after that, both calls telling us that "due to a high call volume we cannot give an eta on your service. After the second call we waited yet another hour and a half before we reached back out to AAA to get an update because at this point we had been stranded for 3.5 hours. We were then told that AAA cancelled our request because they could not get ahold of their towing company and they would call us back when they found a different company, only to later find out that the company they were trying to send was two and a half hours away. We waited for another 30 minutes after this last phone call before we call back yet again. This time they tell us that there is no history of us making any request in the first place. so we submit yet another request for service and we get the same automated phone call saying that there is a high call volume and were unable to get an ETA on our service. we then receive two more phone calls from two separate real people than who we originally spoke to saying that our request cant be submitted because our membership number was not put on the request. at this point we had been waiting on the side of the road for 4 hours. we finally got fed up and called a local towing company who had a tow truck to us in 15 minutes. the only good thing that AAA can offer is the fact that they reimburse us for our expense caused by their absolute incompetence.

Negative experience: On September 13 my car would not start. I called AAA and a short time later a service truck came by and jumped the battery. Suspecting that the battery needed replacement I drove the 30 miles to Wilmington, NC to the AAA on Oleander Dr. I explained that this was the third time I had to have my battery jumped. Mine you, this is a AAA battery I purchased in November, 2021 which was still under warranty. The staff at Oleander charged the battery and said it was good to go. Being it was still under warranty and took a charge they would not replace the battery at no cost to me even though it was still under warranty. Well, now on September 28 the battery was once again died. I had a friend give me a jump. Rather than driving the 30 miles to Wilmington, I took the car to the local Chevy dealer. They performed a diagnostic check of the electrical system and determined that the battery had a bad cell and would not hold a charge for any length of time. I had them replace the battery at a cost of $397.07!! But, now I have peace of mind that the battery will not die on me while I am travelling. Bottom line: I am very disappointed in the service I received from AAA, Oleander Dr. Wilmington. But most of all, I am extremally disappointed with corporate AAA. I am been a local costumer since 2010, but I will not be renewing my membership when it becomes due. Nick Micale 6201113356445002

Negative experience: Long time AAA Premier Member who has made a couple of requests for help with planning trips, but never get a call back. Went in recently to get passport pictures taken and they refused to take one of my daughter as it was "against their policy" as she isn't on our membership. I offered to pay a fee, but was told that the manager doesn't allow this. The option to add her to the policy was never mentioned or offered as a solution. Instead, we were told to go to Walgreens or CVS; too bad they don't offer roadside assistance.

Negative experience: Told me I needed an international driver's permit to drive in France. This was not true. I spent $30 based on AAA advice. Will not believe them again.

Negative experience: I have been a AAA member for over 20 years and am so disgusted with how their current roadside assistance is. The only reason we have AAA is for the “legendary roadside assistance.” Tonight I had a flat tire in Holden Beach, NC. I called at 6:38pm requesting assistance. They texted me a link to use “for faster service.” I used it and was told an ETA for assistance was 7:56. At 8:05, I called back and after being placed on hold for a while I was told they dispatched someone at 8:11, and the ETA was 9:16. I asked about the earlier time, and she said she didn’t know. She just dispatched, and they had 60-90+ minutes response time. I asked how many minutes the + referenced. Could it be a week? (I was getting snarky and hungry at this point.) To make a long story short, my 78 year old dad came and together we changed the tire. When I left at 9:45, AAA had not shown up. I would like to think this was unusual, but in January, 2022, my daughter had the same experience in Raleigh. So, it is not because I was in a smaller town. I’m looking for a better “legendary” service if anyone has a suggestion.

Negative experience: Vehicle Inspection - I scheduled a vehicle inspection on 11/23/21. Was hesitant as some places try and make money off failing the vehicle and over-charging for repairs. Vehicle (2019 Tesla Model 3) did have two marginal rear tire for treadwear, but I decided to take to them anyway. Sure enough, they failed it and then quoted me almost $800 to replace (2) 235/45R18 Michelin Primacy tires. I left and took the car elsewhere (Larry's Michelin) and replaced all (4) with the same exact tire for $1057.30 Be wary of taking your vehicle to this place for vehicle inspection.

Fantastic experience: Kimberly was the one who helped me with our summer vacation. We planned a National Park tour of Southwest Utah (Arches, Canyonland, and Bryce's Canyon). She did an outstanding job. She arranged flights, car rental, and hotel stay for every destination. She even helped when one of our flights were canceled to keep us going. (It was the airlines fault). She recommended finishing up with The Grand Canyon Railway in Williams Arizona. That ended up being wonderful as the train station is in the hotel we stayed in. We got up that morning, got on a train, rode to the grand canyon, visited, and then rode the train back to the hotel. That made for an easy day. We had a blast!

Negative experience: Summary: They misdiagnosed my car, they gave me a bad alternator, and they had a bad attitude. After getting a brand new battery from Advanced Auto Parts, my car died in traffic. I knew it was the alternator because the death was electrical (my radio & window power died first, then everything else). I got it towed to the AAA Car Care Center and they charged my battery & then told me nothing was wrong with my car. I brought it back when my check engine light came back on a week later and insisted that they give me a new alternator. A WEEK LATER when I picked it up, the battery, brake, and ABS lights came on after about 10 minutes of driving. I brought it back and asked them to fix whatever they broke that caused the lights to come on, and they gave me attitude, reminding me that they didn't diagnose my car to fix the alternator, I asked them. Finally, they replaced the 2nd alternator and realized it was faulty. My car has been working fine since then.

Negative experience: Had new brakes put on my son's car. Upon getting the vehicle returned to us, there was a loud rattling noise when driving high speeds, which was noticed a few weeks later. We took the car to another mechanic who discovered that one of the bolts was missing that holds the brake pad in place and that's what was rattling. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe it just fell off. I called and spoke with this AAA location, service department this morning and specifically asked them if someone changed the brakes and a bolt was missing, would it have been because they left it off or could it have fallen off. Obviously, not knowing they did the work, he said that it is highly unlikely it would fall off and it was more than likely the person who put the brakes on. With that said...would you want these people working on your brakes when that is the single biggest safety feature on a car? Your kid's car? I think not!

Positive experience: Had auto insurance through them for several years. They were pretty good and affordable until you add a young driver on. I went from 212 a month to 468 a month. Called several other places and got the same coverage with a new driver at geico for 223 a month.

Fantastic experience: No one likes having to spend money on auto repairs and I am no exception. The work was done in a timely manner and so far so good.The mechanic answered all my questions and worked with me to get the items I needed done immediately and a plan on future repairs. The women in the front office were great to deal with, they were very friendly and polite. They explained all the work that was performed on my truck and made sure that I was satisfied. Great people to deal with.

Negative experience: I wish this will be more positive but... after $1500.00 dollars in parts and labor the battery drain was not located! The 1st said Powertrain control module needed replacement, 2 days at home battery dead again! Back on tow truck the tech stated alternator was bad - took it home and after 24 hours the battery was dead once again. Back on tow truck and about4 or 5 days later they discovered a parasitic drain down test showed the real problem was a problem with the T&C radio! Since they pulled the fuse the battery is NOT draining! I would question their guesstimates if I were you!

Negative experience: I called before I came in and asked for the requirements on an International Driver's License. Upon arrival the lady had issues with the 2 different passport photos in which I presented. One picture was "too small" and the other didn't "look" recent enough because the picture didn't "look like" me, despite them being the passport photos accepted by various national embassies. Nasty attitude and very combative.

Negative experience: Before you do anything here, get it in writing. After telling two agents where we were going, we got a travel money card and got half way around the world before being told the card wouldn't work in the country we were in. 12 days in a foreign country without our money. At least the manager here gave us a $60 silver AAA membership upon our furious return...all it cost me was a $2,100 vacation.

I'm on my way to England and they make sure my flight time is correct or other needs. I like to give thanks to Ms. Teresa King at the Oleander in Wilmington, NC office in assisting me in my business travels. Negative experience: It took AAA off of Oleander around 2 weeks to figure out why my tires' wheel bearings were still making the loud humming noise (the initial reason I brought my car in) and then said I needed to replace the wheel sensor. When I first picked my car up, it had more problems coming out of AAA than going in. To make a long story short, they figured out that THEY put in the wrong wheel bearings, therefore the wheel sensor was not reading the bearings they installed. They did reimburse me for the wheel sensor, but the entire experience was very upsetting and I will never go back there. They finally did fix the issue, but it should not have taken this long. I will say that Michael Dyson is extremely personable and helped as much as he could, but the actual technicians seemed to not care about what they did and were very unprofessional.

Negative experience: Upon arrival I was told it would be about an hour wait for the service needed. The waiting room was quite cold and the other customers and I were joking about how cold it was in there. Then I was called out a hour and a half later and told I needed more work done. Because I had a workshop I needed to attend in the afternoon, I asked how long the additional work would take, and was told another hour. That would take me to 1:10, my workshop started at 2. I got a shuttle home so I could take care of my dog with the promise they would pick me up again. By 1:30 I was getting nervous and called. I was told the car was not quite ready and the shuttle would pick me up and take me to the workshop (not too far away). I stood out with my umbrella in pouring rain waiting for the shuttle to arrive. (I live about a mile and 1/4 from AAA) At 2:05 I called again to see if they forgot me. It was too late to make my workshop now. They said he was on his way and he did arrive in another 5 minutes, to which I now just went to pick my car up. It really screwed up my day. I understand about things taking longer than expected, but, since I made it clear I had to be somewhere at 2, I feel they should have acknowledged that it could be longer and let me make another apt. for another day. All and all both services done to my car that day took about 30 minutes longer than anticipated.

Fantastic experience: I have been taking my three cars to AAA Oleander for the past eight years. I usually deal with Michael Dyson, service consultant. Michael is always more than helpful, knowledgeable and professional. He is truly interested in my families sefety when it comes to servicing our cars. He does not try to push services just to sell them. I am always told in detail the condition of the auto, the service available to consider, and the complete cost for the job. The work is done on time and on cost. Today I used their courtesy van to get to a doctors appt. while service was being done. That was a great blessing. Thank you Michael and the AAA care care techs for attending to my needs.

Fantastic experience: I was coming to visit my wife in the hospital when my transmission broke down. I managed to get to the AAA Car Care on Oleander Dr in Wilmington, NC. Although the mechanics had gone home (it was nearly 6pm), the front desk people called a cab for me to get to the airport, the only place I could get a rental car at that time of day. Michael Dyson, who has regularly worked with me over the years, stayed there until the cab came. I got a rental. As Michael told me, they called me the next morning with the result: the problem was found and fixed shortly, and I was glad to get it back the next day. I had been going to this car care place for some time with my previous car. I always got good attention, great service and qualified suggestions. They consistently met my expectations. And I was glad they helped me out when I needed it today.
