Fantastic experience: What ann incredible hot air balloon experience! The views were so beautiful & we learned a lot about landscape from up above! I was really nervous but Lou, the best hot air balloon captain was so calm, knowledgeable & kind & made me feel safe. Lou’s expertise and friendliness made the ride through the air enjoyable & seamless! Thank you Lou & the crew!!

Fantastic experience: Can't think of a better way to see the extreme natural beauty of the landscapes around Moab. My wife and I enjoyed every aspect of our flight! From the friendliness and attention to detail of the crew, to the expert piloting and guiding of our pilot Lou, to the smooth take-off and landing, to the lengthy flight and oh my, the views. Wow! Fantastic experience: An amazing experience watching from set up to take down. Lou was a great pilot and his crew remarkable! It's very peaceful at the top and not scary at all (and I'm scared of heights). Flying over the scenery at those heights is just an entirely different experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Lou and Canyonlands Ballooning.

Fantastic experience: our family arranged for a balloon trip with Sandra and Lou while traveling in October 2024. early start to the day, but the morning was absolutely beautiful. a great day for flying. mr Lou and his crew struggled a bit with balloon inflation due to some slight, inconsistent, and shifting winds; but, after a bit of reorienting the ballon, we were able to hop aboard. I will do this balloon thing again. although uneasy with heights, I was very comfortable in the basket and greatly enjoyed the flight. we observed a coyote chasing a rabbit below us, eagles/hawks soaring beneath the balloon, and deer running when Mr Lou activated the burners. Mr Lou is an experienced pilot and made us all very comfortable with this trip even as we struggled to get off the ground. I certainly appreciated his persistence in keeping with it to make the flight happen. If ever in the area, DO THIS BALLOON THING. I am glad we did.

Fantastic experience: We came all the way from New Jersey for our vacation in Moab, and one of the absolute highlights was our hot air balloon ride with Captain Lou and his amazing ground crew. From start to finish, the experience was magical. We soared up to 3,000 feet and were treated to heavenly views of the canyons, Dead Horse Point, Arches, and other national parks—breathtaking doesn’t even begin to describe it. There was a peaceful silence as we floated with the wind, broken only by the occasional sound of the burner. It felt like time stood still up there. Captain Lou was a fantastic pilot—calm, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what he does. After a smooth landing, he surprised us with chilled Champagne and apple cider—a thoughtful, classy touch that made the morning even more special. We were in the air for about an hour, and it was such a beautiful, serene way to start the day. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and one we’ll never forget. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Moab—don’t miss it!

Fantastic experience: Experience awe & the thrill of a lifetime soaring above this beautiful part of Utah! Captain Lou & his amazing crew made for a flawless ride on my family’s first time ballooning. Winds prohibited us from going the first day, but we rearranged plans & are so grateful we stayed in Moab a little longer to enjoy this experience none of us will ever forget! Fantastic experience: There are tons of fun things to do in Moab and ballooning with Lou and his crew was by far one of our favorite experiences! They were very responsive with details and answers to questions prior to our flight day. Lou is very knowledgeable about the area and pointed out lots of cool landmarks during our flight. The crew was top notch and made us feel safe throughout the whole experience. If I could give this experience 10 stars I would!

Fantastic experience: The only mistake you can make with Canyonlands Ballooning and Pilot Lou. Is not going. What a wonderful experience!

Fantastic experience: After dealing with unexpected gusts of wind, our pilot Lou and his helpers finally managed to fill the balloon to capacity, seven of us climbed in, and we launched smoothly and safely after a beautiful sunrise. Drifting over the desert in serene calmness, we caught sight of a coyote in hot pursuit of a jack rabbit far below us as they disappeared into the desert sage. I have ballooned several times in the past on the East Coast, but this was a totally different, surreal experience as we floated above the stark desert landscape, hills and sandstone cliffs, with multi-layered mountains in the distance. Our landing was as soft as a feather and the chase crew was waiting for us with their mascot dog (who ran beside -- not in! - the chase vehicle through the desert). Canyonlands Ballooning is easily accessible on I-191 and is very close to the Canyonlands National Park entrance and several miles north of Arches National Park. An inspiring experience!

Fantastic experience: Four of us had the rides of our lives over some spectacular scenery. We were three 80+ year-old geezers and one beautiful granddaughter. It was a bucket list adventure that was totally worth it. Lou is an experienced pilot and we had full confidence in him and his equipment. An amazing memory making experience.

Negative experience: My wife and I were planning a special trip in October to visit some of the Mighty Five national parks in Utah. A hot air balloon ride was on our bucket list. I contacted Canyonlands Ballooning in February both by phone and email asking if the dates we were going to be in Moab were available. I was told that they were and urged to book as soon as possible once the October reservation calendar was available. We booked our reservation in April for October 24th and paid in advance as required. The confirmation email said to call the day before the ride to confirm where to meet the following morning. When I called, I was told that actually that day, October 23, was the last day for rides for the year. The person I spoke to was unaware of our reservation and once she found our reservation she apologized for the oversight and refunded our money. The ride was to be the highlight of our time in Moab, so we were hugely disappointed. Considering the effort I made to confirm the availability of the date left me extremely upset. I was further frustrated by the fact that if they had told us in advance that they were ending ride on 10/23, we may have been able to book a spot with their competitor, Redrock Ballooning, who was still doing rides through October and November. I guess I chose poorly.

Fantastic experience: Lou and Sandra are amazing! We were scheduled to take a hot air balloon ride with Canyonlands Ballooning and had a car issue the night before our scheduled flight. We thought we would have to miss our balloon flight as we did not have a ride to the launch site. Lou contacted us in the early morning prior to the flight and offered a ride from one of his drivers. We had an epic flight at Sunrise with a champagne toast upon landing and couldn't be more grateful to Lou and his team for accommodating us. If you are visiting the Canyonlands area of Utah, I highly recommend taking a hot air balloon ride with Canyonlands Ballooning...they really care about their client's experience! Thank you Lou and Sandra!

Fantastic experience: Absolute Professionals! They went the extra mile in every way. From booking to flying, Lou and the team went the extra mile to make sure we had an incredible, safe flying experience. While winds are unpredictable, Canyonlands' hospitality and willingness to go above and beyond is not. Beyond just the exhilarating experience, I wanted to highlight one of the staff. Max, who when my five year old daughter got nervous about flying, calmed her down and got her excited to fly. This was an incredible display of empathy and human understanding (and kids are difficult to understand). He made the trip. Lastly, Lou is incredibly experienced with leading people and flying. We felt so comfortable with him. This is a must in Moab!

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough about how wonderful this experience was. Lou our pilot, Homer and all the staff were amazing. They were very efficient getting us up in the air and although I’m slightly afraid of heights, I forgot my fear completely and just was in awe of the beautiful scenery around. I highly recommend this company.

Fantastic experience: Our family had an amazing time on our hot air balloon and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Moab. If you are on the fence- just book it! First, the weather was iffy and Sandra was in touch with us ahead of our date to keep us posted. Due to the weather we decided to go a day early. Boy, are we glad we did. The weather was perfect, and ride was great. Lou provided a real locals overview of the area as we were floating above the ground. The crew was super nice and helpful. Our daughter just turned 10 and it was the highlight of the trip. We really enjoyed the toast at the end too. My husband thought I was crazy to book this adventure and he was glad I did. We felt very safe with Lou, he is very experienced. You can tell he has seen just about any scenario and would know what to do in the event of an issue. The basket was in great condition as was all the equipment.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time in a hot air balloon and it did not disappoint. It was for our honeymoon. The take off was smooth as was the entire ride. The views were beautiful. The landing was softer than most planes I've been on as well. He was obviously very skilled and did an amazing job. Their pup was also the cutest.

When my family went, the weather was perfect, and our balloon pilot got to showcase his talent. It was honestly incredible. It's a memory that will last forever, and I would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Just returned to Florida after spending a week in Moab. The wife and I hiked many Arches trails, rode thru Canyonland (we were on a motorcycle) did the rafting thing, even swam in the local watering hole (Mill Creek Waterfall), but nothing compared to the hot air balloon ride we took Saturday morning!! (6/11) The entire process of booking, communicating, and flying was seamless!! (PS: they even called to invite us up earlier than scheduled because of windy conditions coming later in the week when we were scheduled!) Who does that? LOL The pilot (Lou) was SO gracious, knowledgeable and friendly...it was like hanging with someone I'd known for years (no pun intended). The flight was so easy and so much fun ...it lifted off smoothly...quietly floating along providing the most awesome views of Arches National Park...then landed smoothly with the help of the ground crew (who were super cool too!) The pilot even provided champagne & apple cider to everyone, and we toasted the successful flight! What a kick!! Thanks again for making our trip to Moab, the trip of a lifetime!! ;-)

Fantastic experience: Our trip with Canyonlands Ballooning was the highlight of our visit to Moab. Seeing Canyonlands from a balloon drifting overhead provides a completely different perspective, and Lou and his experienced crew did their best to make the trip memorable.

Fantastic experience: We had a beautiful morning for clear sailing. What an amazing experience. I've never been in a hot air balloon before and was a little nervous and not sure what to expect, but I never felt unsafe or even thought about being up so high in a balloon. It was smooth and the sights were incredible. Lou was a great host and pointed out the sights as we sailed along. I recommend to anyone who would love a new experience and a way to see the sights in beautiful Moab!

Fantastic experience: Lou and his crew provide a great experience for everyone. We had a nice day of about a 10 to 15 mile flight over ~45 minutes in the air. The pictures don't do justice to the views. This was our only time doing a balloon ride and it's much smoother than I expected.

Fantastic experience: What an awesome sunrise launch last Sunday! Our pilot was familiar with the landscape formations and history of the area. He skillfully navigated and controlled the balloon over changing elevations. The support staff was also very friendly. Highly recommended for a great view of the Moab landscape!

We had an amazing adventure and for sure will be going back next year. The pilot, Lou, could not have been more entertaining, pleasant, cordial, and, of course, experienced! If you are thinking of a hot air balloon experience, this is the place to go – the pilot and views are superb. Very simple online reservation process. Could not have asked for a better team/company to work with. Learn about the landmarks as you fly by them. And learn about the history of hot air ballooning as you toast your successful flight. Top notch group. Would book again with them in a heartbeat.

Fantastic experience: It was a great trip, everyone was super professional and nice, the views spectacular. When the heater stopped and you floated in silence it was an amazing feeling. One thing that I did not enjoy however was that there were too many people in the basket - you had to reach around people to get photos and it was not as conducive to conversations with Lou the pilot as it would have been with less people. If there is an option I would definitely take a 3 or 4 person round basket trip instead. But overall a great experience!!

Canyonlands Ballooning has a competent and confident crew that helped me feel relaxed as we lifted off and flew away up up and away. We had a smooth lift off and landing and saw spectacular views. Fantastic experience: The hot air balloon ride itself was breathtaking. Pilot Lou navigated our basket right thru the cliffs of the red rocks and over some gorgeous landscapes. He pointed out several unique landmarks (nat’l parks included) and even navigated our hot air balloon down the side of a cliff to see some petroglyphs up close! From the take-off to the landing, all went extremely smoothly— it felt like I was floating the entire time which clearly proved how experienced Lou is as a pilot. Lou also made everyone feel like they were family. Upon landing, Lou poured some celebratory champagne for our group, and brought along his cute puppies to join in on the post-flight fun too— always a plus). With celebratory champagne, puppies to pet, and views like no other, I would highly recommend this experience. Lou’s knowledge of the landscape around us and his experience with flying definitely made my first experience on a hot air balloon absolutely incredible, and one I will never forget. If you want to make your next hot air balloon experience as magical as mine, you’re going to want to book with Lou and Sandra— that is all (:

Fantastic experience: I’d dreamed of doing a balloon flight for years. Came close but it never happened. But on our first trip to Canyonlands, Moab, and Utah, I decided to do the research. Lou was highly rated and everyone was right. It was safe, beautiful and exciting. Lou himself was our pilot and he was calm and reassuring with first timers but he made sure we had a long ride with stunning views. The silence, the space, the bond we all felt made it a glorious morning. The pictures were amazing and I wish I had taken more! What a glorious adventure and what a beautiful champagne toast after! I cannot wait to do it again.

Fantastic experience: We had a great flight. This crew is first class and they go out of their way to take care of you. They pick you up at the Archview RV Resort & Campground. We had just a 10 minute drive to the spot where the balloon takes off from. But depending what direction the winds are blowing, it might be a different site. We had about 18-20 people on the flight. Everyone introduces themselves while they are getting the balloon inflated. The crew helps you into the balloon and offers to take pictures of you while they are doing the final inflating of the balloon. It was a little tight in the basket, but not too bad. You could turn around and see the sites as you needed to. Plus he was constantly rotating the basket so that you could see everything. The flight took off a little bit after sunrise. We took off over the "Under Canvas Moab" tent sites. They must have known we were taking off because there was several people outside waving at us. The flight then goes northwest almost paralleling 191. The scenery is great when you first start. Our pilot Lou, who is also the owner does a great job getting us close to the rocks and then goes up and over them. Very smooth. The ride then heads towards the Canyonlands Field Airport, and we get a good view of the runway as we travel a little west of it. Once you get past the airport it's pretty flat and not much to see straight down, but the views in the distance are great. You get to see the Monitor and Merrimack buttes well in the distance. We also saw some wildlife on the flat area northwest of the airport. We landed a little rough. Lou gave us some pointers on our landing, and warned us that about 50% of the time we tip over when landing. And we did tip over. It depends on how fast the wind is blowing when we land. I don't think anyone got hurt. They gave us plenty of heads up and told us how to brace ourselves. After landing we had a post flight toast, and they drove us back to Archview. I would say that the actual flight lasted about 45-50 minutes. But I think that was plenty of time. Canyonlands Ballooning was first a First Class operation! Well done! We had a great trip.

Fantastic experience: Wow, wow, wow. There really isn't a better word to describe our Canyonlands Ballooning experience. I cannot adequately describe those moments as we floated several thousand feet in the air... in total silence! That feeling will be not soon forgotten. Lou was an absolute beast of a pilot-- he gave us a flight I would never have dreamed of. You might not think there's much to piloting a hot air ballon, but after our flight, I'm completely in awe at how experienced he is. Thanks for such an incredible experience in Moab! We'll be back!

Fantastic experience: This will be a running review. As of now this hasn't been a good experience I was deceived into believing we were going to be up in the air to see a sunrise... That is not the case. What you can expect is to sit in multiply parking lots waiting for the other 15 people in your party to get coffee and use the bathroom. The guys that drove us to the balloon were great. That's my only plus. So far stay tuned...Ok the pilot Lou is awesome the experience is gaining some momentum..not over missing sunset yet but getting better... Ok Lou is awesome the guys driving are awesome... The views were cool... Smoke hindered some... Overall I'd recommend it. Still unhappy bout sunrise but..... Give it a try.

Fantastic experience: Amazing balloon flight by a top notch team here in Moab UT. Everything was perfect- from the crew ( thanks Homer and team!) to our delightful and skilled pilot Lou who shared his passion and knowledge of the area while artfully navigating us through Canyonlands. You need to realize that the winds will take you where they want to go and we were very lucky to have a clear day and great visibility. Safety is paramount and the landing and champagne toast completed the adventure. I am glad I picked this company who have years of experience and a team that makes it all run smoothly! What a thrill !

Fantastic experience: I had always wanted to take a hot air balloon ride I can’t think of a better place than beautiful Moab to do it! The whole experience with canyonlands ballooning Was fantastic! Lou and his entire crew or professional and they put safety first and it all made For a really enjoyable experience I would highly recommend it to anybody and I would definitely highly recommend Lou And Canyonlands ballooning!

Positive experience: Awesome Ride We flew with Lou on Friday, July 16, 2021 who is a well-versed, seasoned, and highly skilled hot air balloon pilot. The views were amazing and Lou's #1 priority was keeping us all safe. While the take off and landing were graceful and no issues; the wind did not cooperate with us on this ride. The wind was blowing us for a touch-down in Arches National Park which is prohibited. Landing in the park would have resulted in heavy penalties for Lou. Therefore, he cut the trip short, after a brief 15 - 20 minute ride. Wind direction and balloon drift direction are totally out of Lou's control, and we fully understand that. We would have easily given a 5 Star rating had we been able to enjoy the full 1 hour duration of the ride. We highly recommend a hot air balloon ride with Lou. Again, the short ride was thru no fault on his part, he aired on the side of our safety and park regulations.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful landscape, under the canopy of a colorful and well managed hot air balloon! Lou is knowledgeable, and kind. Although our experience was cut short due to high winds, it’s an experience that I’ll never forget! Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: This is a great experience for anyone/everyone. It is a beautiful, unique way to experience the geology of the area. Lou is supremely capable and confident and those concerned by heights will be surprised how safe it feels (and is). No surprise Canyonlands Ballooning gets so many 5 star reviews.

Fantastic experience: The flight was amazing, fun, interesting and unique - from start (watching the intricacies of blowing the balloon up) to finish (watching the crew get that huge balloon packed into it’s not so big sack!). Captain Lou was as friendly and as knowledgeable as the guys he chose to make up his team. They were all patient, answering all of our questions, taking photos of us, being real nice to the 5 grandkids we brought with us. The flight Lou took us over was simply stupefying! Such a learning and creative experience. Our youngest on board was 10 and the oldest 79. We will all hold this as quite a memorable morning….that so cleverly ended with a friendly discussion and chilled, tasty glass of champagne! Congratulations to Lou and Sandra and crew. Fantastic experience: A once in a lifetime experience! My friend and I have done tons of traveling and gone on many adventurous excursions but this was our first hot air balloon ride. It did not disappoint!!! It was exciting and the views were beautiful. We really enjoyed the whole experience... before the flight, it was very interesting to watch the crew set up the balloon. Taking off was so exciting! We saw views of the Canyonlands area and flew about 8-9 miles. The pilot, Lou, is very friendly and clearly is passionate about flying and his hot air balloon business. We definitely felt safe as well! We ended with a group champagne toast with Lou and his adorable dog :) Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: A hot air balloon ride was on my bucket list. I had the perfect opportunity to take this ride since I was celebrating my birthday in Moab, UT. I had my youngest daughter with me. The ride was awesome. What I loved the most was when everyone was quiet and we were just floating where the wind was blowing. It was so peaceful. We had a perfect weather day, light winds and a great group of people. The pilot was wonderful, I felt safe. The landing was gentle and even though we ended up on our side, I still call it a perfect ride. The champagne toast at the end was lovely and everyone sang happy birthday to me!

Fantastic experience: We had a great time on our balloon ride. Pilot Lou was experienced and glided our balloon up over, down through a canyon and out an opening so close to trees we could touch the leaves. Fun trip!
