Fantastic experience: I was looking for a good dive shop and came across this place, I figured id give it a shot. The owner was very helpful and insightful about everything. Very patient and helpful when trying out different items and ultimately helped me pick out the best gear that is right for me.

Fantastic experience: SJ Scuba is a first rate SCUBA shop, the best at instruction. For my Open Water certification, I did not do a good job with the CESA skill (emergency no-air ascent) and they made me do it a second time. You can be assured you will be a safe diver when taking one of their courses. The instructor/assistant to student ratio is 1:2 or 3. They offer loads of advice on selecting the proper equipment or accessories along with great prices. I’ve been to scuba schools in Florida and the focus is more on quantity than quality. Ed and Kevin are the best!

Fantastic experience: My son is getting certified and I cannot say enough great things about the instructors, staff, and SDI program he is in. The instructors go the distance to ensure that the students are in a comfortable atmosphere conducive to learning. They make sure the students are proficient in the skills and will not push them through until they are sure that the skills are proficient. Looking forward to working with all these fantastic guys in the coming years. Knowledgeable ,professional, and friendly. If you are thinking about learning this is the place!!!

Fantastic experience: Incredible find in southern New Jersey. I’ve always wanted to scuba but never had anyone to do it with. I figured I’d give it a go and so glad I walked into SJS. The staff is incredibly experienced, the training is very thorough and fun, equipment options abound and there’s tons of group dives locally on wrecks in NJ, all over the eastern seaboard and numerous destination dives. From recreational to technical diver they do it all. I’m loving my under sea journey and am very grateful to the shop for guiding me along the way. 10 out of 10.

Fantastic experience: I love this dive shop. I did not get my certification here but it is my new go to shop. I have 5 shops that are closer to me, but this is the one I go to. The owners are friendly and helpful. The shop doesn't appear huge but they have everything you could need. They also have trips available.

Fantastic experience: SJS is the best! Completed the 1&2nd part of my open water cert with them and Kevin booked my checkout dive in FL for me with the best guide and instructor. It was an amazing experience. As a newly certified diver Kevin and Ed are always available to give advice or offer direction. Today I purchased a dive computer and Ed was very helpful and took time to show me everything I needed to know to choose the best one for me. Looking forward to my first NJ dive with SJS this month! I am lucky to live around the corner from the shop, but it would be worth traveling to come here for the staff and knowledgeable direction if you needed to.

Fantastic experience: Great place to learn about scuba. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Ability to rent equipment if you are not sure if you want to purchase it. Very responsible yet laid back instructors. Was able to individually get instruction in a class setting on skills that I had struggled with. Prices for equipment were very comparable with other sources and even were less expensive than what could be found at the other sources. Lots of "fun dives" and social events to connect with othes enjoying this sport. Picture attached was at Lake Phoenix Scuba Park in Rawlings, VA where SJS offered an Open Water Completion Dives to complete your open water certification.

Fantastic experience: South Jersey Scuba is the best shop in the area. Not only are Kevin and Ed top notch instructors but they are excellent at servicing equipment. The fastest and most professional service, took less then a week to get two reg sets back and a dry suit with a Pee Valve. They have any gas fill you need and they fill to you tanks capacity unlike many shops I’ve used. They also have a great social program if you just want to crew to hang out with. They find a way to get you in the water regardless of your situation. Whether it is payment plans or finding a time to work for you. I took my TDI sidemount last summer with Kevin and he taught me 1 on 1, and same for my SDI solo diver with Ed. Currently working on my Dry suit class with Kevin and it has been a 1 on 1 class. I plan to continue my tech diving with SJS. If there is a class that SJS doesn’t offer they have lots of great recommendations. The best shop for any diver!

Fantastic experience: I was in search of snorkel fins. I have to say I have a very hard time finding shoes that fit as I'm a woman's size 6 extra wide. So ordering online was not an option. Kevin helped me find the perfect pair of fins! I also purchased fins for my husband. We discussed buoyancy vests & options for him and Kevin offered several suggestions. I also bought a backpack style bag to haul both sets of gear on our 10 day cruise to the ABC Islands this month. Can't wait to use my new fins!!!

Fantastic experience: I was able to get certified with Ed, Jenn, and Kevin. It was absolutely amazing! They were able to help keep me calm and enjoy learning about scuba for my license. They also have instructors that are learning to teach, Knapp and Kristi were just as helpful they will be amazing instructors. The training definitely made me feel prepared in case of emergency and while also enjoying the experience while being safe. I have trips scheduled with the shop and getting equipment is the next hurdle. Would recommend!

Fantastic experience: First time dealing with South jersey scuba and I will certainly be back. They really helped us set up and rig my speargun and unlike any other NJ shop they offer actual NJ DIVING. After freezing in the waters of capemay I think dry suit will be my next cert.

Fantastic experience: Ed was really great. A rusty scuba diver, he took time to update me on the current scuba world, training offered and equipment discussions. He helped me sign up for an initial training on line and in the pool, and assisted me in setting up my on-line training account. It was also a lot of fun talking about my past dives across many Caribbean islands, as compared to club diving trips presently planned and changes in modern scuba diving practices. I was completely satisfied and may decide to take their Open Water course as a means of updating my skills. We are lucky to have such a good operation in our local South Jersey community.

SJ Scuba is a one stop shop offering the newest dive equipment, excellent instruction in a wide range of courses, and dive experiences both locally and abroad. Fantastic experience: Great shop and great staff - simple as that. Ed and Kevin have been beyond helpful over the past couple months as I've made multiple purchases and taken classes with them. There's a reason I drive nearly 2 hours from North Jersey to use this shop as I pass multiple local shops along the way. I'm picky and know what I want in a shop and these guys fit the bill. These guys know their stuff and will dedicate their time to ensure you do too. In addition to their great customer service they have a heavy focus on the diver community with their South Jersey Scuba Club, dive trips, and local events which is a rarity among most shops! This has been extremely useful for me being relatively new to the area and the struggle of finding a dive buddy.

Fantastic experience: Kevin and Ed are great. I have taken a course with my first boat dive off the Gypsy Blood, went on one of their local excursions to Lake Phoenix, and had tanks inspected. They even took the time to help me get some equipment sorted out when I stopped by. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a local dive shop. If you are not sure what you need or where to go, give them a call and they have been most helpful.
