Negative experience: Booked a room using my credit card for my grandmother. Rooms were 2 nights $60 each under medstay due to my aunt with cancer. They arrived was rudely told they would have to pay cash or another card because if its not in her name “she dont want it”. So my grandmother paid and left one night early due to how bad the hotel was (which is enough for a book itself) long story short. She took advantage of my grandmother and charged her $90 for ONE NIGHT and did not give her the medstay discount out of spite.
Fantastic experience: We truly enjoyed our room at The Lodge at Duke Medical. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The room was amazing. So clean and comfortable! And being so close to the hospital was absolutely wonderful. The discounted rate offered by MedStay was such a blessing and we appreciate it so much!!

Fantastic experience: I read several reviews when making my reservation. Many of them weren’t very flattering. I figured I was only spending one night and could deal with whatever issues others had. When I arrived at check-in I was immediately greeted by staff. They were very pleasant and cordial. The lobby was clean and the decor was good and appeared recently updated. I completed the check in and went to my room and it was very nice. Not what I was expecting based on some of the reviews I read. The room had updated decor, a comfy sofa and a nice desk. The TV had streaming services you could log into if you were and existing customer. The bathroom was clean and the hot water was “hot” and plentiful. I made arrangements to be picked up by the van for transport to Duke hospital. Vicki, the driver, was right on time for my pickup. During the short ride to the hospital Vicki and I chatted. She was very nice and knew exactly where I needed to be. I called Vicki after my appt and she picked me up expeditiously. Vicki was a standout in the staff! What would improve the overall stay: there was no fresh coffee available in the morning in the breakfast area. That would have been nice the breakfast area was still closed at 7:00 AM. So early risers will need alternate arrangements for breakfast. There is a coffee maker in the room and to be honest it isn’t very good. But it is on par with other hotels. There was a scent of cleaning products through out the hotel. That was due to the carpets being cleaned that day. However, it wasn’t overpowering, just noticeable. That does indicate that the owner does take care of the hotel. That was also apparent throughout the building. I have continuing appts at Duke and my future stays will be at this courtyard.

Fantastic experience: First time booking through MedStay. Sam was so friendly and kind when I was reserving a hotel through MedStay while my daughter is in treatment at a local facility. He expressed genuine concern for my daughter (who has a health condition that some people don’t understand) and you can tell he truly cares about people. The hotel and staff was great as well, and the MedStay hotel price was a great value, even more so when compared to the current rates in the area (prices high due to lots of events this weekend). If I'm going for MRIs or multiple appointments in Chapel Hill and have to come to UNC-Hospital, I have to stay overnight since it's a 3 hour drive from home. They help me with cheaper, but just as nice hotels(!) every time. They are efficient, accommodating and most of all very kind and helpful.
Fantastic experience: We were told about MedStay through a packet from UNC Hospital. We were not familiar with the area and proximity of places around the medical campus and asked lots of questions. MedStay was so patient and helpful in offering options and suggestions. They provided the names of restaurants close to the hotel and gave us a really good idea of what was around the hotel (restaurants/stores, etc) which was super helpful. This service is invaluable, especially when facing overwhelming medical situations and needing to focus on other things rather than finding a place to stay. Thank you, MedStay! Five star service!

A doctor at Duke University recommended MedStay to us. We have saved easily over $25 each time we have used MedStay. Many times we have to spend 2 days for the testing and treatments so on those visits I save over $50. Sam is a very friendly, compassionate person who cares and feels for those He is assisting in finding hotel accommodations that best suit Your needs. Fantastic experience: This service is INCREDIBLY easy by phone or on-line! So helpful and the cost savings is amazing! My mother will be staying one mile away from Duke Hospital the night before her surgery and we get to have a restful night sleep with a very short morning commute to the hospital. Fantastic experience: Once again Sam and the staff at Medstay saved me when I ended up in Chapel Hill with a relative's second emergency surgery. HoteIs were booked solid and I needed a 7 night stay; Sam came through again with a great hotel room at a very reasonable rate. If I could give Medstay more that five stars I would!!! (See below for my earlier experience) I have had nothing but great experiences with MedStay and highly recommend them. I had taken a relative for an out-of-town medical appointment and they ended up having to have emergency surgery. I was told about MedStay; they provided great customer service and found me a hotel at fantastic rates at a time I was overwhelmed. I have used them on every follow-up visit to the hospital for over six months and they have booked the hotel and helped obtain specific requests for special needs of my relative. Negative experience: I made a reservation through MedStay on 4/15/18, but never received a confirmation from them that the reservation was secured as they state they will send within 24 hours. The next day, I sent an email to MedStay to inquire the status of the reservation, but never heard back. The following day, I called and spoke to Chris at MedStay. He gave me a song and dance about the owner, Sam, trying to reach me (I had not received any calls or missed any calls from them). Chris stated that either Sam or he would call me back later that day. No call. Stupidly, I called again and Chris told me that he would confirm the reservation while I was on the phone. Guess what? He made the reservation at the wrong hotel but would correct it and send me the confirmation. Never received it. Sent an email to Sam telling him how disgusted I was. He replied with an apology and said he would take care of the reservation himself and email me a reservation. Nothing. This business is a scam. I made my own reservation at the same hotel for $1.00 more so they weren't saving me any money. Don't waste your time. They are a bunch of morons.
