STS Travel was founded in 1984 by two Cornell University graduates who shared one common goal: to specialize in the marketing and operation of travel services designed specifically for students. Since our foundation in 1984, STS has handled the travel plans of over a half of million student travelers. This tremendous volume gives STS a great deal of negotiating power, enabling us to assemble quality vacation packages within the budget confines of the student traveler. Today, we have evolved into one of America's premier collegiate tour operators, having student organizations, travel agents, and campus representatives representing STS on over 1000 campuses throughout the United States.

Fantastic experience: I have used STS to book my last 2 spring break trips for groups of 8-15 and it was by far the easiest process and most fun trips. Everyone in the group was amazed with how easy the booking process was and it was extremely helpful to have STS representatives at the resort to help get us set up and provide us with answers to any questions immediately. They met us at the airport, helped get us transported to the hotel, to all the events, and back to the airport at the end of the trip. I will definitely be using STS to book my future trips!!

Negative experience: Used STS for our trip to Riu Republica in Punta Cana and it was a complete disappointment. When we needed assistance, their team was nowhere to be found. Zero communication, zero support, just an all-around terrible experience. Save yourself the stress and book with a company that actually cares about its customers.

Fantastic experience: STS is the best!! I was a group organizer for a trip to Punta Cana with 450 students and STS was the perfect travel agency to use. They are extremely organized so everyone was on the same page which made it significantly less stressful for me as a group organizer. The steady communication between STS and their customers is second to none. Their customer service representatives were kind and always accessible to all members of the group. During the trip, the STS representatives were always available to ask questions and assist. Providence College loves STS!

Negative experience: Considering STS is a customer service based company, I am appalled at the lack of communication and overall disrespect the employees have for paying customers. From the first day we arrived, the STS workers were rude and acted as if it was a burden that we had questions despite providing limited details about the activities and schedule. Events were disorganized and we had to rely on other customers to find out when and where activities took place. This was incredibly frustrating because we paid STS to properly organize the trip for us. Frankly, it would have been simpler and cheaper to book a trip separately if we had known how disorganized and uncommunicative Student Travel Services is. In addition to the poor service and rudeness of the employees, we were also cheated out of excursions we had prepaid. My friends and I had purchased the booze cruise separately prior to going on the trip since it was supposed to be scheduled on the Monday after arrival. After arrival at the resort, STS representatives continued to “postpone” the cruise due to “weather,” despite clear skies and good weather the rest of the week. The booze cruise was never rescheduled for the entire trip and STS never gave definitive information on the cancellation or refunds. On the last day of the trip, the cruise was declared as completely canceled and we were informed that we would not be getting a full refund for no valid reason. The booze cruise itself was $100, and it is clear the services were not rendered. The STS staff claimed we would get a $40 refund maximum and spent a majority of their time dispersing blame. I am disgusted by the blatant disregard for consumer rights and the behavior presented by STS staff at the time. I did not personally speak to a staff member at the time, but this was due to them being completely unavailable and inaccessible during the trip to a majority of the customers there. We all had to communicate through the few people who were able to get into contact with the STS employees. Overall, I would not recommend using STS and would like to spare people some money in the future.

Hopefully you had the opportunity to go on the daytime cruise to Rose Island. We rescheduled the night party cruise for Thursday and unfortunately high winds resulted in cancellation. Safety of our travelers is our number one priority.
Negative experience: From the beginning, communication was very poor through STS, and there is a lack of customer service. It is hard to get through to a live agent as they did not answer the phone when I attempted to contact them. My trip was at Breezes Resort in Nassau, Bahamas, and I am very disappointed. It was almost right away that we were pushed to purchase very expensive "VIP packages." We ended up purchasing these overpriced packages, and for the price, our expectations were not met. The venues were empty and the atmosphere was subpar. The biggest disappointment was the booze cruise we were promised as a part of purchasing these VIP tickets. The booze cruise was 100 dollars and was supposed to be on the Monday of our trip. Charlie kept notifying us that the Booze cruise was getting pushed back due to weather even though there were plenty of boats providing services in the ocean. Finally, on the last full day of the trip, he notified us very last minute that the booze cruise was cancelled due to weather. We were upset by this and thought refunds would be issued, but nothing came about. I have called the place the past couple of days to try to get some sense of this. No definitive answer has been given to me about refunds, and instead the topic is danced around. Overall, if you get anything from this review, please do not book through STS as I feel I got scammed and paid great amounts of money for a bunch of overpriced and unreceived services.

Negative experience: Do not plan a trip through STS. I just came back from the Bahamas and I stayed at Bahamas Breezes. The trip was roughly 1500 for an all inclusive 5 night trip. However once we got there we realized quickly that the cost would be much more than that. Excursions cost me an additional 250 for 3 events that were not fulfilled. I had spent $100 on a booze cruise event that never happened and STS refused to give anyone refunds. When we asked the trip advisor he failed to provide any information on how to get a refund and dodged our requests and concerns. Additionally the staff was unhelpful and inconsistent with their policies and disrespectful to the younger guests. Do not recommend booking through STS unless you want bad communication and spending way more than you originally planned.

Negative experience: SCAM. Please do not waste your money going through this agency. We were given many false promises, and we did not receive refunds when we did not get the services we purchased. I greatly, GREATLY regret going through STS. To specify: We purchased a $100 ticket for a booze cruise, which was scheduled for a Monday. It kept getting pushed back each day with a different excuse from Charlie each time. Finally, on Thursday, Charlie claimed that the company cancelled due to wind, yet there were many other booze cruises that took place on that same day. For those people who specifically paid for the booze cruise, we were not offered a refund. There were many rumors that the cruise was never booked, and Charlie was just coming up with excuses to avoid confrontation. It seemed that there kept being a need for more and more unnecessary purchases, and that was pushed onto the students by STS. We did not know what we were getting into nor how much money we would end up spending for nothing. In general, there was a huge lack of communication that left students lost and confused. A group of our friends were mistakenly driven to Atlantis rather than Breezes, and the two are substantially far from each other. The taxi driver took the students off the main road and stopped at an ATM along the way. You can imagine how scary this would be for a student visiting a country that they have never been to before. It was almost an intimidating atmosphere, threatening us that if we lost our little plastic wristbands that it would be a $200 charge to replace, that if we caused the slightest damage to the room it would be a $150 charge per roommate. There is more I could say, but it is too much to type. I hope you can see that going through STS was a TERRIBLE decision.

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with Student Travel Services. The customer service was absolutely terrible and the entire experience was a complete nightmare. The staff were unprofessional and rude, and it was clear they didn't care about the customers they were supposed to be serving. The trip itself was poorly organized and lacked any real substance. The itinerary was misleading and it felt like we were rushed through each location without really experiencing anything. The accommodations were also subpar and not at all what was advertised. To make matters worse, we experienced several issues with transportation which caused us to miss out on some of the planned activities. When we tried to speak with the staff about these issues, they were dismissive and unhelpful. Overall, I would not recommend Student Travel Services to anyone. Save your money and go with a different company that actually cares about their customers and provides a quality experience.

Negative experience: I enjoyed the vacation aspect of this trip but the company they paired with in Cabo, Epic Tours, is an incompetent organization. They wasted hours of our time in transportation to and from the airport, told us our shuttle was canceled and that we were “on our own”, and made us late to the airport for our international flight. Also, an STS representative used foul language such as the R word and even commented about girl’s bodies on the trip by saying he was “hoping they’re not fat.” This wasn’t said to me personally, but the fact it was said at all suggests that STS should invest time and resources into training their employees on professionalism rather than allowing them to behave like they are just another college kid on spring break. The unprofessionalism across the board is unacceptable for the amount of money that I paid for this trip. STS should reconsider many aspects of their internal operations and partnerships if they want to receive better reviews and be recognized as a reputable travel company. Cabo is beautiful though, I would come back (not with this company of course).

Fantastic experience: STS planned my son’s spring break trip to Cabo. I reached out to STS with some questions while he was on his trip. STS was great and quickly provided me with the contact information for the rep (Cain) from STS that was at the resort with my son’s group. Cain was incredibly helpful!!! He gave me the assistance I needed. He was quick to respond to me when I reached out (several times), answered all my questions, spoke with my son, was on top of all the activities planned by STS. He clearly worked hard for the group and I was incredibly grateful he was the one in Cabo with my son and his group! Couldn’t have asked for a better rep from STS! Thank you Cain and STS!

Negative experience: They "guarantee" you the most basic things such as a carry on, not a checked bag, a carry on. They did not follow through on that. Why do I have to pay for a carry on? Do you really expect me to fit everything in my personal item for a 5 day trip? They do not give you what is advertised. They are such a headache to work with. Empty promises. Get your trip through someone else. Do not even come at me saying the airlines decide what to do with bags. You booked the flights too, I did not do that. If I knew where my money was going, I would have never used this awful service.
Jason, links to airline baggage policies were included in your reservation. We apologize if you found this disappointing. Unfortunately we can not control the fees charged by airlines.

Negative experience: PLEASE LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE: Do not book with STS. So many fees that are not mentioned, Visa, Covid Test, transportation, etc. The party pass is such a scam. You would think that after paying 1500 dollars, that the night clubs and cover and drinks are covered, right. NO! It is an extra 300-400 dollars. My connecting flight to the resort was cancelled, and STS did absolutely nothing to help me. I had to buy my own flight to the resort out of pocket. When I asked for a refund or any kind of support, STS was unresponsive. I have emailed every representative I know, a dozen of times and no response. I even got my parents involved, but at this point its not worth our effort. Do not book with STS if you want a good experience. This also happened to around 20 UConn students, not just me. They truly do not care about their customers based on their unresponsiveness to us.
Fantastic experience: charlie allewalt was by far the best person to work with while planning a trip to cancun over spring break. there were about 50 of us and we all had the best time!! charlie was super helpful and informative regarding the whole trip and process, always willing to answer questions, and was overall a genuine person. if you want to work with sts, highly recommend working w/ charlie and always ask questions when you're confused about something - he always has answers :)

Positive experience: I was a student rep for STS for a spring break trip this past March. Overall, my experience went very well. My group ended up growing to roughly 100 students as friends of friends continued to join. It was overwhelming at first but the agent that I worked with from STS took care of everything. She booked everything including our flights and club rentals for when we arrived. Overall, the trip was an unforgetable experience that would not have been possible to do on our own.
Fantastic experience: Was honestly a little nervous when I first booked the trip, but things couldn't have turned out better. The hotel we stayed at was super accommodating and even let us check in to our rooms early because we arrived a few hours before our check in time. I had a large group (18 people) and people were constantly backing out and wanting in but Stephanie was super accommodating about all of the alterations to room block and the number of people coming. Could not have been happier with my experience and the rest of my group feels the same.
Fantastic experience: Great experience with great people
Negative experience: DO NOT DO IT. SCAM. 1 bar open at a time at our resort that ran out of basic juices and tons of alcohol (which tasted like rubbing alcohol when it was available). The bars couldn’t serve any frozen beverages or anything more complicated than a dirty Shirley. There were no pool chairs by the pool, just an open, filthy area with absolutely no amenities. The customer service was extremely poor and the only nice employee I encountered was a maid. However, the maids took the towels every time they tried to clean the rooms and wouldn’t return them until you called 3 more times and asked. The buffet food was subpar which was upsetting because most of the restaurants on the resort were closed or were impossible to get into. Not only did the amenities generally suck, the building was run down, outdated, and gross. Just don’t book with them, they will take your money and offer no support.

When booking for a group of 30, I told the agent we didn't want to stay anywhere too chaotic so they recommended the Occidental Tucancun in Cancun and it was perfect. A ton of fun and much nicer than other spring break hotels but still a good price. We also got the party package which was definitely worth the money. 3 nights at 3 different clubs with drinks included plus a booze cruise. Not to mention the companies they chose for the booze cruise and airport transfers were both amazing. Genuinely the best week of my life. The only negative thing I have to say is that communication could be better and there were times when I had to double text to get a response.
Fantastic experience: We had a group of 24 people from UMass go through STS on spring break to Cancun at an all-inclusive resort. We purchased the VIP Party Packs and had transportation to and from all the night clubs which were so much fun. It was definitely worth going through STS, as they set up our nights so that we would be with other colleges on spring break and even a 4 hours all-inclusive booze cruise. We all had the best time and it was such a fun trip, thanks STS and Jake for putting everything together!!
Fantastic experience: A couple of my friends and I booked STS for Cancun. Everything was very organized and set up nicely with events for us to go to each night. The main reason why this experience was so enjoyable was because of Carlos (a STS employee). The first night we got there I spoke to Carlos and he gave me his phone number to contact him with any questions or concerns we had. Carlos ended up not only helping us, but making our trip above and beyond. He went out of his way to make sure we were able to get on the first bus, made sure we did not have to wait in any lines, and traveled with us whenever we went to make sure the experience was the best it could be. All in all I have to say Carlos is the reason why STS was such a good choice, you will regret not making the same choice!

Seth, you did not travel with us. You cancelled your trip on January 27th. We processed the cancellation and refunded you the same day as outlined in the STS Travel Protection Plan.
Negative experience: This company-with Jake Jacobsen at the helm- is an embarrassing establishment. Changed dates of trips, didn’t relay information, and being charged unjustifiably were just a few of the issues we encountered.I genuinely believe Jake books these trips in the basement of his mothers house. If I were Jake I’d think of a new profession that better suits his abilities which would be a very scarce list.

We reserve the right to use Fri, Sat & Sun departures because it gives us the flexibility to find the best flights with the best flight times. In this case, we found the group a morning departure with 1 stop going down and an afternoon non-stop return. You contacted our office and said you could not fly on the Friday because you had an exam. Later we find out you were on another trip overlapping that had you in Austin Texas on the Friday departure. Once we had the facts, we were able to book a non-stop flight from Austin to Cancun for you and your girlfriend. This saved you from flying back to CVG and then flying out again to Cancun. Yelling and screaming is never the answer and I suggest always speaking the truth. Our employees work very hard for the best interest of our travelers and they deserve to be treated with respect. Based on your review and response with Martino’s On the Vine, it appears you have a history of making false claims.
Negative experience: Sucks at relaying information. Changed our trip dates without informing us. Double charges. Will not give us our flight and reservation information.
Kristina, you purchased a bulk flight. Flight times and dates are not confirmed until after final payment. Your flights were purchased two months before your trip and the flight information was available anytime after that point. You were never double charged on your account. Your final trip documents were emailed to you 5-10 days prior to your trip.
Negative experience: DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY. WILL SCREW YOU OVER. BOSS IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Completely booked our flights a day earlier unannounced and failed to tell us. Will not help refund or help you with quite literally anything.

Negative experience: DO NOT ENGAGE IN ANY TRANSACTION WITH THIS FIRM. A completely unprofessional tribe of barbarians. You have a 5% chance of your envisioned trip going through as planned. They set up your card to automatically charge, and will introduce random and unjustified costs at their discretion. And don’t even waste your time attempting a refund for these (probably illegal) charges, as they will not give you anything back. They CHANGED THE DATES of our trip 2 months out even though it wouldn’t work for us. Without a doubt the most poorly managed business enterprise I have ever encountered in my life.
Carson, you signed up for a trip on August 1 and agreed to an auto payment plan of $120 per month. Your credit card was declined on September 15th. On September 22nd, you used a new credit card. Your card was charged 1 last time on October 10th. Cancellations must be sent to our office in writing. If you had sent a cancellation notice, you would not have been charged on October 10th. You were finally cancelled on October 13th.

Negative experience: Do not book through STS. Me and 10 of my friends booked a spring break trip. Over half of us got the insurance policy, and it took 11 MONTHS to get refunded, and only after I got a lawyer involved. I had personally called our airline who gave us a cash refund (to STS as they booked it) and these sleezy people had the audacity to try and make us take airline credit rather than the cash they had just received. This was the biggest pain and I would sooner stick a fork in my eye than book with them again.

Negative experience: Scam 100%. I booked a trip with them last year, canceled it well in advance of the trip and well before COVID. I had travel insurance through them, so I should have received a refund up to two weeks after I canceled and its now been an entire year. The staff is extremely rude and unprofessional, wont answer emails, not able to give any answers over the phone.
Negative experience: STS travel is a scam company. You will not be able to cancel regardless of buying their travel protection program. if you do, they will tell you less the airfare, and then you can get a credit thru them. STS taking advantage of students from around the country. no one ever gets money back from them. Smug jerks when you call and ask, they are well versed in any conversation in NOT giving you money back. Do not fall for it. Do Not use them

Negative experience: This company is a scam. Even during a global pandemic they will take your money. Book elsewhere or by yourselves through another resort. Paid $1600 and they’re stealing 45 people plus on flight credit and hotel credit. Book yourself or through a different company. What a scam.
