Fantastic experience: I stayed on the new RV park side of the property so I cannot comment on rooms. The park was clean, the restroom building was cleaned to a high standard every day. I did not use the Wi-Fi. The property is conveniently located across the street from the grocery, a few doors down from the hardware store, and a five minute walk to the center of town. The new RV park section is all gravel. Not my favorite, but in an arid climate, perfectly reasonable. A camping carpet helped to make the situation much better. There are two large fields on either side of the new section where you can exercise your pets. You’re also close to the river if you want to go wading, or take your dog for a swim. The Durango train runs by the campground, and reverses in the siding next-door. Never got tired of seeing me trains. If you are there for the Fourth of July, the Silverton fireworks are in your living room! I had no issues while I was staying here. The only suggestions I would have would be to offer online booking rather than having to connect via a phone call. While personal interaction is great, when you are on the road and need to know that you have a place to go to, Online booking would be much easier. The other suggestion would be to offer discounts for long-term stays. Their prices are fair, but on the high end and a discount for staying a week or month or longer would be A reasonable thing to do.

Fantastic experience: Best place to stay in Silverton. Fantastic views and owners are very personable and hospitable. This isn’t a 5 star, opulent hotel with fake luxury. It’s not Vegas. But if you’re in Silverton, CO then that’s not what you should be looking for! It’s quiet and peaceful. You’re right on the edge of town, which offers beautiful scenic views but still within walking distance of everything Silverton has to offer.

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful time with our grandson. This place was so convenient and stocked with just what was needed for cabins. Thank you for your kindness and great hospitality.

Fantastic experience: We camped with our RV and Jeep. We didn’t stay in the “Motel”, but I can see they have several individual cabins. Very friendly hosts. Very convenient location, close to downtown Silverton, Several Jeep trails start right in town. Views are fantastic. I can’t say enough good things about Red Mountain RV Park and its location. The attached pictures are from our camp site.

Negative experience: Owners were super nice. There's nothing special or charming about this pricey place. We were surprised to see that someone entered our cabin to "tidy up". Felt more like they were wanting to see if our dogs were unattended. Would have appreciated some trust and privacy. We would not return ...

Fantastic experience: Excellent location, quiet, and the owners are more than accommodating and available for their guests.

Negative experience: We have stayed at this RV park for several years and have always been happy with their service. Recently I was diagnosed with cancer & starting chemotherapy. So we are unable to make the trip this year. When we called to cancel our reservation we were informed that they would charge us for two days. I wonder how they would feel if they were in our shoes? It's bad being sick with extra expenses now another. Shame on you Red Mountain an you know who you are.

Negative experience: Very unfriendly staff. Would not want to visit here again and have to deal with them. Definitely need some coaching on customer service. Rooms are nothing to brag about either.

Fantastic experience: Not only are the owners Amy and Jim the nicest people in Silverton but they go out of their way to make you feel at home in their little paradise backed up into the mountains where you can only get so up close and personal with the beaver who lives in his pond not far from the campers and the best part is the train that runs right thru the campgrounds!! Wave now everyone!! Minutes from uptown shops and restaurants.. It’s the best motel, rv park in town, if you don’t stay here your in for a big disappointment at the other ones!! Don’t ruin your vacation by staying somewhere else, paying to park your rig, plus your truck, plus your SXS!!

Fantastic experience: Stayed here for a recent family reunion half of us stayed in the larger cabins for rent - the others used the RV park for motor home parking. Adequate kitchen for cooking with a rustic flair (don't expect ultra modern). The one I stayed in had 2 queen beds, full bath, kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, sink, tables, cookware, utensils, range/oven etc, etc. Daily maid service. Really nice owners who live here year round. My only issue was not enough outlets to plug in necessities I use - especially next to the bed. So most went in the kitchen. Beautiful scenery, very short walk to the small grocery and downtown Silverton. Great service, good discounts for cash payment.

Fantastic experience: With 50 Rv spaces it’s more Rv park than Motel. Great owners, they had a Hamburger cookout at 4th of July for all the guests.

Fantastic experience: Jim & Amy are the best! Great place to stay.

Fantastic experience: Jim and Amy are down-to-earth and wonderful folks operating this park. When you walk into their office you see pictures framed, hanging on the walls from their own memories they have had from times in & around the SJ mountains. We stayed for a few days, left and then came back because of how convenient and clean and easy of a time we had with our time. Everything was perfect. Jim has much cleaner and nicer jeeps for rent than everyone else around also.. (our jeep took a break on us for a few days so.. we learned and rented from a couple different venues and Red Mountain was overall the best). Had a good time with the resorts we stayed at during our 98 TJ revival in the region but Red Mountain RV resort was by far the most welcoming, cleanest, personal and was straightforward more than all of the others we stayed at or rented jeeps from. Fantastic experience: I love this place. My wife and I returned after 12 year.(we were living on the east coast). Still the same great people. Thank you. We are talking about our next trip to Silverton.

Christopher Higgins 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: It's a really great place, they have spots for RVs and little cabins to rent. Also, it's right next to the railroad tracks so you can see the steam engine pull into town.

Fantastic experience: Great little spot in Silverton for either an rv, tent or cabin! Easy to pop in and out of and friendly owners! We stayed in the cabins a few different times now and they've always been very clean and homey! Linen had no staining and everything was fresh and clean! We spent most of our time out wheeling the mountains but overall it has been a great experience staying here! Easy to book and pleasant to talk with the owners, would recommend staying here!

Fantastic experience: Bitter sweet news to hear that Jim and his wife will no longer own this property. But we are also happy for them to move on and take a break. Thank you for the memories.

Positive experience: More of a indoor lodging place than a RV park. However I did see at least five spaces that looked like full hookups. For pricing and service ...you are on your own.

Ron Browning 4 years ago

Negative experience: Nice location and great jeeps, but they won’t answer the phone and when he does he is extremely rude. Should not be allowed to work with the public. Been there 4 times over the last 5 years and won’t do it again. Would rather pay double to someone that appreciates the business.

Fantastic experience: Awesome place to stay! Staff was great, park was clean, bathrooms were spotless! Will definitely be staying here again when we come back! Jim and his wife are some hard working people and definitely bring great things to the town!

Fantastic experience: On our cross country,30 day, rv’ing road trip visiting several national & State parks we were looking forward to our jeep rental for the Alpine loop but our reservation was canceled. Fortunately we called Red Mountain, they had a jeep & rv site for us, which worked out perfect for us and we had a great day of fun on the trail. Great Thanks to Jim & Red Mountain.

Fantastic experience: Couldn't recommend this place enough, instead of staying at a cabin/motel it feels like you are staying at a friend's camp. The people were friendly, everything was clean and well kept and the price was very affordable. Will be coming back soon!

Fantastic experience: Great place to stay and great people. Jim, Amy, and Loretta treated us like family. After a hard day on a 4x4 Expert Rated pass, the bashplate on my KTM was pretty "bashed" up. Jim opened up his shop and loaned some tools to my buddy Mark and I. In short order, we were up and running, ready to finish our version of the Transamerica Trail. I also want to add that Jim had a potluck amongst friends and invited us as well, the food was great and the karaoke was memorable. Needless to say, if I ever make it this far out west again, I hope to stay here, if it has vacancy, which fills up fast. If you hope to do the trails, Cinnamon pass, Engineer pass, etc., this is the place to stay!

Steve Sampson 4 years ago

Positive experience: We have stayed here several times to 4WD in the high passes. It is our preferred RV park in the area. Has everything you need and is almost in town. The only reason to drop one star is that the RV spaces don't have much charm and all the roads are dirt (dusty in dry weather). Staff has been fine. Enjoyed time chatting with Ray frequently.

Fantastic experience: If you haven't visited Silverton Colorado at least once in your life then you are missing out! And even more so you're missing out on an amazing place to stay while checking out the best town in Colorado! Tim & Amy have ya covered for several types of travelers! Cabins of different sizes, motel rooms, RV spots with hook ups, tent camping, laundry facility, play ground, jeep rentals, and hunting tours. You're right next to the river and the old trains and old train depot that you can walk around and appreciate a little piece of history. This RV park is right at the beginning of town. The grocery store is right across the street. The service here is all perfection! I've been coming here for many many years and have continued to with my husband and children and will absolutely continue for many more without a doubt! It literally feels like home and we've never once felt as though we were just another tourist coming through. I assure you if you stay once you'll continue to come back and stay right here every time!

Fantastic experience: We stay at the rv park. It has a great view of Kendal Mt. and the train parks right by until it is time for departure. The owner and staff has always been friendly, helpful, and have gone out of the way to be accommodating to us. They have full hook ups and can accommodate big rigs. They also have a dump site for a fee as well as sewer hook ups on sites. There are picnic tables at each site with plenty of room between sites.

Fantastic experience: This is seriously, in my opinion, the very BEST place to stay here in Silverton!!! The people are so cool and down to earth, the rooms are super clean with all the homey amenities... fridge, microwave, coffee pot, dishes and silverware. And the views are amazing... we’re in number 7 and it feels like the mountain is right on top of us. I highly recommend this lodge... everything is just awesome ♥️

Fantastic experience: Stayed here while on the TAT. Owner/Manager was cool and is willing to lend a hand to TAT riders, even has a little workshop right in the park. Let us set up tents instead of paying for one of the cabins

Fantastic experience: We arrived a little early but they were able to accommodate us. Staff was friendly and the cabin was very cute and clean! The blankets smelled amazing and the kitchenette had all we needed to make home cooked meals. Laundry services were very helpful too Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Great place to stay! Owners are the nicest people and really take care of their customers. Cabins are really nice and very well stocked for your stay. We stayed there June of 2018 and are going back again this year. Only place in that area we'd stay!!

Robert Morris 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: This has the best view ever. Easy access in and out. Ride to town in your OHV. Showers are super clean and large. Hook ups in great condition. Grounds are clean. The owners are happy to answer any questions you have about the area. They also can tell you how not to get in trouble on your OHV. Walking distance into main street but far away as to be quiet. My search is no longer when I visit Silverton...This is the place to stay.

Negative experience: We had stayed in one of the cabins in the past and it was o.k. This time we had a motel room and it was terrible. Lighting consisted of three ceiling lights. One in the kitchen and one in each partial bedroom. There were no lamps, no bedside tables, no electric plugs by the beds. You could not read or plug in your computer and use it at the same time. At night for light you either laid in bed looking at the ceiling light or turned on the bathroom light and kept the door partially closed. The only useful plugs were, one in the kitchen and one at the TV. The TV was on a side wall perpendicular to the beds which made it hard to see while laying in bed. You can see this in one of their pictures on their website. When I complained at the front office, I was told that there was suppose to be one lamp. When I asked the lady to come look, she just said they did not have another lamp for the room, but would have the owner come talk to us. Nobody ever showed up. She also told me that she had been in motel rooms without a lamp and that she thought was acceptable. The two chairs in the room were small soft fold up chairs like you see around a camp fire. I was told that if I wanted to leave, my money for the second day was non refundable. We forfeited our money and left.

Charlee Arnett 7 years ago

Negative experience: They get two stars because they were friendly. We rented a room with kitchen and bathroom for 1 night. Paid $140. Rustic, old and a little rough around the edges. But why the 2 stars only you ask? In the morning when we got up we discovered skid marks (aka POOP) on the sheets of one bed. See picture below. When we told the owner, she sort of shrugged and said "the people before you must have made up the bed before they checked out and so the cleaning people didn't change the sheets! EWWWWWW! No apologies no compensation....nothing. 2 STARS is generous.

Fantastic experience: Had a great 5 day trip here. Owners are fantastic. Camp Host (Ray) is one of the nicest gentleman we have met. We have a triple axle toy hauler, sites have plenty of room. Easy access to OHV trails. We’ll definitely be back. Great times. Carll’s

Fantastic experience: Neat like place to stay in Silverton Colorado. A bit expensive for the size but clean and while I was there it was very quiet.

Christy Russell 8 years ago

Positive experience: The cabins were great and we enjoyed having a private bath, as opposed to past cabin rentals in Colorado, where we used used community showers/toilets. The staff was friendly and the price was great. Several members of our family (small children included) suffered from splinters throughout our visit. These were acquired from picnic tables, railings, and even the floor of our cabin. This was our biggest problem. The full sized sheets were ill fitted and came off our bed nightly, so it may be worth it to bring your own. The twin sheets were fine. We rented a Jeep on two occasions and it was a great experience.

Fantastic experience: Just completed a "pre-season stay" at Jim and Amy Lokey's place. Love it. The Lokey's are OUTSTANDING folks. They are accommodating, sincerely seeking to make your stay enjoyable. They run a great business in a great place on the planet. Cannot recommend highly enough if you're going to be in Silverton ... we've tent camped, RV camped, and now have used their cabin billet. We brought our own ATVs, but the Lokey's have excellent equipment (Jeeps/snowmobiles) to rent as well. They are remodeling their motel rooms. Toured one of those. Very nice! GREAT GREAT GREAT!

Ri Le 8 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great stay, owner Jim even lent us his Trailer to haul ATV's out to trail. Enjoyed our stay and will be back!

Negative experience: We stayed in one of the fourplex units. It was old, smelly, and very cheap. Folding camp chairs next to the table. Could smell the adjacent bathroom. Drafty windows.

Kevin Knox 9 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great place to rent a jeep!!

Russell Li (Rusty_ADV) 9 years ago

Positive experience: Clean even though it's old, price could not be beat

William Rafferty 9 years ago

Negative experience: These people are very rude just left and I won't go back to this town cuz everyone is mean and rude so many rules you can't ride you're atv here you can't park there you will get a ticket and the people at this hotel won't let you use the hot tub. Just a bad running city that's too bad cuz it is beautiful place.

Harold Bass 9 years ago

Negative experience: Well I guess Jim and company are getting money hungry. Raised their RV rates by 4.00 (now 42.00 per day) and now also charging 10.00 a pet per day this year. No more weekly or monthly rates either. Went next door to Silver Summit which was cheaper (daily and monthly) and no charge for pets....plus not having to deal with all the rudeness at Red Mountain. I guess this new price gouging attitude at Red Mountain is really paying off. Only 13 spaces out of 50 occupied (LOL).....Never stay there again!!!!

Dale Zornes 9 years ago

Fantastic experience: We rented a Jeep during our stay in Silverton, Very friendly and helpful. Told us which trails were the best, and our Jeeping experience was truly a trip we'll never forget! We would defiantly do it again!!

Matt Connors 9 years ago

Positive experience: The cabins are quaint and rustic, like everything you find in Silverton. This is one of my favorite places to stay in Silverton.

Michelle M. 10 years ago

Fantastic experience: Lovely, comfortable stay! We (my husband, our dog, and I) rented a cabin for one night. The cabin is clean, cozy, and has the most beautiful views. We had a great time talking to the owner before we wandered up to dinner. We both loved that when we woke up in the middle of the night, it was so quiet. It's convenient to everything in town. Next time, we'll bring our Jeep and/or our skis and stay longer. Thank you for making a wonderful getaway.

Will S 12 years ago

Fantastic experience: Jim is awesome. Helped us out when we needed it.

Jaime Hernandez 13 years ago

Fantastic experience: I love Silverton. If you enjoy Victorian mining towns, with unpaved side streets and brick building facades, this place is amazing. We've stayed at this park twice over the summer months. Once in a tent, and the most recent in a camper. The owner's take pride in their park and it shows. New bathrooms and showers were added to the RV site section of the park. You can see the narrow gauge train tracks from the park. We really enjoyed hearing and seeing the Silverton-Durango train come into town. Park is safe and people are friendly. If you have a Jeep and like to hit the trails, this park rocks. The owner Jim helped me out when I broke a bracket on the suspension. He has a full shop on-site. The location is perfect, just on the edge of town, but easy walking to the heart of Silverton. If you like good country cooking, try the Brow Bear Cafe. They have really good chicken friend steak, french onion soup and local beer on tap.

Tim Sellers 13 years ago

Fantastic experience: I stayed in a full hook up rv site here for a week late July 2012. The owner Jim checked me in and was very friendly, helped show us our site and assisted with backing us in. While walking the dogs during the week saw more of the owner assisting others, this is a good sign to see. The closeness to town, and the narrow gauge railway made the campground fun. The train goes right along the south side of lower campground. I would stay here again next time I visit Silverton.
