Fantastic experience: I wish AAA Virgina would add DMV services since just about every other state has it! Your VA members deserve DMV service too! However, we had an absolutely wonderful experience as far as customer service goes. Selwyn is the nicest insurance agent at AAA! We walked in, ready to switch to state farm, but he went above and beyond to assist us and keep our business. AAA needs more agents like Selwyn!
Negative experience: I called two weeks ago to line up a hotel stay before we cruise at a place that keeps cars. Connie was so amazing but she retired and now we were dealing with Marian Atterberry. She sent over a link to book a motel. I replied with a few questions and got a response answering none of my questions. I replied again and got a response answering none of my questions and she was frustrated because she said she'd have get a new quote. I am so glad I didnt book because the hotel didnt keep cars for over 8 days and our cruise is 12. She was given all this info....my husband has emailed with NO response. Customer service is dead. We will try the Va Beach Blvd office this week.. ....
Negative experience: I went to the Landstown location on 1/20/24 to get some suggestions for all-inclusive resorts for a trip for my family for later this year. That day Wanda H. was the agent in the office. Our initial interaction was great. She was very personable. She asked for us to give her a couple of days to research some places that fell along the lines of what we wanted. She emails me 3 different suggestions to 3 different Caribbean locations on the afternoon of 1/23/24. I review them, and the next morning when I get into work, email her back stating we really liked one of the suggestions and asked for additional resorts to review in that same country that were similar so we can make sure we didn't see anything else we may like better. 1/28/24 comes around and I still haven't received anything. I shoot her an email kindly asking if she had come across anything else and that if she hadn't we wanted to go ahead and get the process started to secure dates for the initial place we liked before the prices rose too much from the initial quote we were given. She emails me back late afternoon 1/29/24 with two more suggestions and asks for the info of all the guests going on the trip and tells me she can hold a reservation for 24 hrs. I emailed her back and said thank you for the additions and that we would review them, gave her the info requested, and asked her if I could schedule an appointment that upcoming Thursday 2/01/24, to come in and make whatever deposit and sign whatever I needed to. I never get a response after that. At this point, I'm over it. I ended up going to the Va Beach Blvd location and was luckily helped by a wonderful agent who took her time with me and I walked out THAT SAME DAY with a secured trip booked. And to this day, 2/05/24, I STILL have not received a response from Wanda.

Negative experience: Refused to tow me on a saturday night, so i had to call another company. The other company towed me home, just for AAA to come out the next day to have to tow me to the repair shop. Apparently if it is daytime, they have no problem towing you, but at night you are on your own. I reached out to there customer service person, and have never been able to actually get her on the phone. And yes i am a AAA member.
Positive experience: The service provided by AAA is second to none. However, having moved between 4 states in 5 years, it has been a convoluted and frustrating process of long hold times, promised call-backs that didn’t happen, conflicting information, non-communicative AAA offices that don’t exchange information, etc. AAA Tidewater finally got it sorted out (I hope) and my fourth set of new cards this year are in the mail

Negative experience: I have been a AAA member since I got my license at 16. Now at 25 I switched to my own account from my parents and added my fiancee. She ended up needing a tow while I was out on a ship the day we switched. I had no problem paying the 75 dollar fee for same day new membership service but was very unhappy to hear that AAA would not honor the PLUS plan I payed for knowing I would need the services. AAA told my fiancee that she would have to pay extra because the plus plan (Which I had already payed for) doesn't kick in for seven business days. This is not obvious when signing up for the service. I am aggrivated by the situation and disappointed. I have 2 separate memberships right now just to try and make sure my fiancee can deal with car troubles. This whole time I am stuck on a ship unable to even drive to her and help. I was relying on AAA because they have been with me since I started driving and now I am disappointed and mad. As they say the only true vote you have is where you spend your money. My vote of confidence in AAA is wearing thin. I expected my great experiences to extend to my fiancee but fine print seems to have failed me. I hope they will redeem themselves and their superior services with great costomer service so I can change this rating. Yes I spent $190+ on my plus plan because I have a motorcycle and plan to keep it. Honor what I pay for!

Fantastic experience: I was alone in a dark parking lot, as stores were closing, and my battery died. I called AAA at 915pm and was so appreciative that they asked if I was safe, and immediately dispatched help, initially projected to arrive at 10:05pm. Within minutes I got a text that help would arrive much sooner, by 935pm, followed by a phone call to update me the same, then a call from Dameon Coates, telling me he would be there in minutes. Dameon arrived BEFORE 935pm, and was very competent and pleasant, explaining everything to me, tested my battery and jumped it, restarting it, but explained that I had dead cells, and it would happen again, becoming dead unexpectedly. He also offered to install a battery right on the spot. As I was leaving the next morning on a trip, I was super grateful. In almost no time, he had the new battery in place, with warranty, and had me on my way. I felt so reassured and safe, and thought Dameon was a perfect person for this automotive rescue. I am very grateful for my 44years with AAA.
Fantastic experience: I had numerous car issues and was quoted a very expressive price by a car dealership out in town, and so I decided to get several other opinions and quotes before making a decision. So glad I did, because after phoning several other car companies, I finally got to AAA Car Care Center of Virginia Beach and this company offered me the best option and quote of all. I ended up getting everything done, but didn't need to right away, for $300.00 cheaper from all opinions and quotes received. Also, their customer service skills and professionalism were beyond reproach. While waiting for my vehicle to be fixed, had a great time there conversating with customer service reps. Very pleased with full outcome!!! Therefore, I highly recommend AAA Car Care Center for any automobile issues you may be having. Thank you AAA for a job Well Done!!! V.K.
Negative experience: AAA mechanic wanted to charge me 850$ for replacing my starter because the easier option is to remove 4 bolts on the underside of air intake manifold. All said and done, took it to a different mechanic and paid around half of what AAA wanted.
Fantastic experience: Reasons why AAA Tidewater got 5 stars: because of their roadside service. They recently came to my aid when my battery died AND I've had AAA for 20 years and I didn't know they'd also replace the battery. On the spot. Another reason they will always get top rating is Connie Bowen in their travel services at the Landstown office. She has helped us plan countless trips to Disney, Disney cruises and this year a Royal Caribbean cruise. She REALLY knows her stiff and gets excited and animated telling you about it. Love her!

Positive experience: This AAA Tidewater location opened on June 24, 2019 after closing their prior location in the Kings Grant section of the city. This new location is part of the Landstown Commons Shopping Center, next to Kohl's. My first visit to this new location was on July 17, 2019. The size of the new location looks bigger than the old one, but it is actually smaller in space. The new location here is much more open. It does get louder due to the high ceilings and the openness as well. When you come in, you no longer do a paper sign in. They have an electronic sign in tablet once you come in. You choose the type of service you are looking for (travel agent, insurance, travel maps, etc.). You can also request a specific person as well. There are some bugs still with it, but I am sure it will get resolved in due time. I usually work with Tim for maps and such, while I work with Connie as my travel agent for major trips such as cruises. The place was a little busy when we came in, as they were also doing TSA pre-check interviews that day as well. We did wait a few minutes for what I was coming in for, but wasn't too bad. Tim hooked us up with our TripTik and map for our round trip to Mississippi and back. I really like working with him for my travel mapping needs. After getting that taken care of, we got with Connie to go over a few things for our upcoming cruise. Overall, this was a great experience at this new location. It's also closer to home, making it more convenient too. With great service and a friendly staff, you will like this place too. If you are looking for any type of travel needs, I definitely recommend coming here to get that info.

Negative experience: Went there to get a quote for insurance and the person showed no interest on selling that or helping me at all, I left the location feeling like being a member was a waste of money, so I didn't renew mine this year.
Fantastic experience: I needed help finding a flight across the pond, and even though I'll be using points to pay for it, the AAA travel agent was a HUGE help and found a great deal.
