Fantastic experience: Best. Trip. Ever! We spent 12 days in South Africa and Victoria Falls and loved every minute! We particularly recommend the MORE Family Collection properties we visited: Cape Cadogan Hotel in Cape Town, Marataba Game Lodge, and Victoria Falls River Lodge. The accommodations are luxurious, the staff members go above and beyond to meet your every need, and the surroundings are beautiful. The field guides were wonderful and made sure we saw everything we wanted to see and more. This trip was a dream come true! We worked with Chuck Joyce to book our honeymoon stay at Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres 06/09/25 - 06/15/25 and we couldn't have asked for a more phenomenal trip. After months of research, we narrowed our options down to a few different Secrets resorts, and Chuck was extremely helpful in listening to our preferences and providing first-hand experience about the different resort options and leading us to make our ultimate decision to book our stay at Secrets Playa Blanca. This resort was exactly what we were looking for - adults-only, all-inclusive, nice beach, and a relaxed and romantic atmosphere. Chuck was able to find us an amazing deal on a preferred ocean front room & it absolutely exceeded our expectations. From the initial planning call, to booking, and to finalizing all of the details, Chuck provided prompt and comprehensive communication and handled all of our details with ease. He was flexible and patient with me amongst the added stress of wedding planning and ensured that everything was handled without concern. Our flights, airport transfers (with Lomas), and check-in/check-out process at the resort were very straight-forward and seamless. Fantastic experience: Me and my boyfriend planned a trip through A way to go travel to cancun Mexico. The whole process was quick and easy, Beth Herndon was our travel agent and she was great to work with. She treated us like family, showed us all our options and helped us throughout our travels. On the day of our departure Microsoft went down leaving us delayed, then canceled. Beth was with very responsive and available, contacting airlines, hotels and the resort to give us options. She did all of this while she was on days off. I highly recommend a way to go travel, their team will get you where you wanna go.

Negative experience: Terrible company, every single person in our group of 12 had a terrible experience working with this company and Lisa. Our entire trip was booked incorrectly and we showed up to a mess. Do not use this company they will ruin your vacation.

Negative experience: Would not recommend! We we're working with Beth and had went in for quotes. Although she did provide several quotes she did her best to talk us out of a resort we had our hearts set on. We read the reviews of the resorts she quoted and it was not at all what we were looking for. Bad reviews, food, smell, brown water on beaches etc. In the end we booked with Imagine Travel, Shane was awesome. He listed to our wants and needs had wonderful recommendations and was very responsive. Strongly suggest you do your research before booking and give Shane at Imagine Travel a call. Options are good!

Fantastic experience: In October we had a perfect vacation at Unico resort in Mexico! Beth Butner with A Way To Go Travel met with us, listened to what we wanted in a vacation, and set us up with the best experience we have had so far - all for almost the same price we would have paid on our own. When our flights were delayed leaving the U.S., Beth made sure our driver would be there waiting on our arrival. The car service she booked and the resort were above expectations. I would recommend Beth and A Way To Go Travel to anyone.

Negative experience: Would not recommend A Way To Go Travel in Greensboro. After the tickets were purchased we could never get Beth to call us back. Our flights were changed and we were only given notice by email. Our flight was delayed and then couldn’t meet connecting flight. We had to drive to Charlotte airport or wait until the next day to fly. No answer to our call for assistance and Beth did not return our call for the 2nd time. Our room was not what was she promised to us. We were promised a view of the Vegas Strip but she booked us a view of a building and a brick wall. We had to pay more to get any view. ***Response below from agent is incorrect**.

Fantastic experience: Chuck Joyce is awesome! He went out and beyond for our trip it was our first time traveling out of the United States to the Dominican for my girlfriend’s birthday. He made sure everything was easy and stress free. We had the best view and he made sure we got a great deal! We will definitely be booking with Chuck with a way to go travel from here on out.

Fantastic experience: Chuck helped my husband and I book our honeymoon at Secrets Maroma. We are having a wonderful time and Chuck let us know he is there to assist us during our trip as well. We let Chuck know what we were looking for and he handled the rest and provided our travel documents the week before our trip. Anytime I had questions prior to the trip, I received a response via email within minutes. It has been a stress free vacation knowing everything is taken care of and we just need to show up. We will definitely use A Way to Go Travel in the future for our anniversaries and other travel needs!

Negative experience: Part II: At the end of July 2021, we booked at Majestic Elegance. Chuck was trying to convince us to stay elsewhere because 1. This isn’t a resort he’s affiliated with and 2. His “clients” did not like this resort. He also informed us after booking we couldn’t use our credit here. Let me just add that this resort is SPECTACULAR. It might have beat our honeymoon resort to the point I am looking to book again with two other couples… just not with Chuck. We reached out during this trip about upgrading our transportation because the van he booked for us wasn’t the most comfortable or reliable on those roads (we thought the wheels were about to fall off). It took two emails to hear back and he said they were booked for all the higher level options, but thankfully we have transportation. My husband took it upon himself to call the transportation company directly and guess what? We got the upgrade and paid for the difference. But the principle being we have a TA so we shouldn’t have to do this leg work… There’s PLENTY more I can add in you can see we gave Chuck NUMEROUS chances and each time we were let down by him. I am extremely disappointed in the unprofessionalism and lack of communication. This is not the service of a reputable TA. He didn’t ease any stress from planning a trip, instead he frequently caused it. We will no longer be utilizing his services, which is unfortunate because we are frequent travelers and always looking for the next best getaway.

Negative experience: Paid for down deposit on my trip has never heard anything else from this company I wish Lisa or someone there would send us a package pertaining to our trip to Hawaii

Negative experience: Attempted to book a trip thru this company. Spoke with a representative over the phone and thru e-mail. Was sent pricing for one location and have been waiting over a week to hear anything back. Not sure of the reason but very unprofessional. Not sure if "my budget" wasn't enough or other reasons played into the no call or email back but you live and you learn.

The Hyatt Ziva was extraordinarily beautiful with wonderful employees that we now call friends. The food was hummers! Can’t wait to book our next vacay with you!!!

Negative experience: I was referred to book my trip through Chuck and this company as they had a promotion running for the resort I wanted to go to. Chuck was very responsive on the front end to get the trip booked. I had a couple of friends that decided to join us as well. She reached out to Chuck to book her trip. She had to reach out a few times to get a response. When she requested to pay for the trip on full he said he would charge her credit card. After a month nothing went through for charges. She reached out again and he said that it showed pending on his side and could only charge part of it but would put the rest through. Sure enough a day or two later the charges went through. There is no way it was pending for a month in their system. I reached out to Chuck to check on pricing to see if there were lower rates as we heard prices were going down. He responded that the airfare didn’t change. I asked him to check on the resort pricing and no response was sent. A week before the trip I asked for the travel documents as no one in our group received them. He said that they were mailed out but he would send them electronically. I also asked for him to send them electronically for the other two couples in our group. He said that he already sent them but would send them again. Everyone received them on the second request for them. It has been two weeks since we left for the trip and no travel documents were ever received in the mail. Also, our flight schedule changed without being notified. There was an email sent with two different flight times that thankfully my girlfriend noticed otherwise we all would have missed our flights. I requested Chuck to request a specific building for our trip. I know it wouldn’t be guaranteed but wanted to request it. Upon arrival the resort said there wasn’t any notes on our booking for a room request. We never received any updates regarding the requirements for traveling to Mexico and had to do our own research for what was needed with Covid tests. All travel agents that I have used in the past would stay in contact with any changes with travel and anything that should be known with the travel as well. Overall, I would not recommend this company. I feel like our group was lied to on multiple occasions and we had to reach out in order to get any information. Most times we had to reach out multiple times to get anything done. No updates or communication was given to us either. This was my worst experience using a travel agent and should have stuck with my normal agent that I use.

Said she would call me later that Friday afternoon. Still NO CALL. This is a dying profession. Book the trip yourself and eliminate the middle man.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars, I would. We just returned from a cruise and A way To Go Travel (Greensboro) was to be in charge and only reserved our flight and cabin on the ship. Oh, wait, the dining reservation had to be changed by them per RCCL, but that was it. This agency helped with NOTHING else. And this was our first cruise. We wouldn’t know what to ask or expect or even how activities/excursions worked! He did say at one point “tell me what you want to know”. How would we know? And why wouldn’t they share things about the ports or areas of interest or even how things worked with us? This was not our first time with a travel agent in our travels so we do know what travel agents are SUPPOSED to do and assist with. There was no help, no planning, and he knew we were first time cruisers! When we mentioned that we weren’t being helped and told the person who answered the phone that “the service is so bad and it sounds like we may have chosen the wrong travel agency” she responded with “maybe you have”. We ended up with a change in agents early in the situation and this IS the one who didn’t help us! This change was to Chuck Joyce who said he was the owner! We knew there wasn’t anything we could do because if he was their “top notch” (which was doing nothing and not replying or returning calls for weeks at a time) then that was “it” for us. We Were never important to them or the owner. Ever. So, there’s the kind of service we got there. Thanks for nothing A Way To Go Travel. We are severely disappointed and want to share our actual experience.

Fantastic experience: Went on a 5 day trip to Riviera Maya in Mexico and was told to pick Secrets Maroma Beach which was such a wonderful place to stay for 5 days. Since this was our 25th anniversary we did splurge on a preferred club ocean front room which was amazingly nice and spacious and had the best concierge in Roberto. So if you pick this place I recommend having Roberto as your concierge . The beach was amazing and being adults only no rug rats running around property just a few tipsy adults which is fine with me. We had everything taken care of through delta vacations from transportation to even talking about doing a excursion during time we were there and we were not disappointed in doing the cenote and snorkeling trip for the day had a blast. I would recommend using a way to go travel and taking their recommendation because Secrets Maroma Beach in Mexico was a incredible all inclusive resort with every need taken care of.

We first contacted Chuck on January 15th to help us plan a trip to Europe. Since then, we have had repeated promises AND NO RESULTS. As we write this, we're STILL waiting for a follow-up phone from our message left 5 DAYS AGO. Did we mention that airfares have DOUBLED since we first contacted Away To Go Travel’s owner and manager? If you actually want SERVICE, you need to find another travel agency. Otherwise, the "memories that will last forever" will be ones of extreme disappointment.

Negative experience: I was trying to surprise my wife with her first trip to Disneyworld for Christmas. I went into the Greensboro office off of Wendover to get info on and probably put a deposit on a trip. Naturally I was pretty conservative with my budgets, but informed the agent who assisted me that it is flexible. 5 to 7 days was the plan. After about 30 minutes of looking things up, she showed me a 7 day resort stay that was within my budget, however didn't include travel. I informed her that it probably wouldn't be a problem for the travel, but I would still like to see estimates in case. After another 5 minutes, she informed me that she would email me some options in the next day or so. This was 4 days ago and nothing. Now, it's probably too late. This agency shrugged me off in a way that feels insulting and careless. Also, a would be surprise for my wife is now relegated to last minute shopping that I have no time for thanks to work. Thanks for messing up my favorite holiday. Thanks for worrying more about big commissions than the average customer. I will likely never use these people. I recommend that nobody does. Oh, and I was the only customer there at the time, so it's not like I was in the middle of some giant rush...pathetic.

Negative experience: Did not even get there and the service was crappy.called to get some info and the gentleman was so unpleasant and sort of rude resented I was asking travel related questions. Cut me off and said, just so you know if you decide to book and using a credit card you have to come to the office. I do not accept credit cards on the phone because I don't know you. Needless to say I never got the info I called about because I hung up in his face he was just disgusted.

Fantastic experience: This is a great travel agency. We booked a cruise through them and we were well taken care of. My wife and I are very happy we booked our cruise through A way to go Travel! They are the only way to go travel. Book with them you will be happy!

Negative experience: TERRIBLE!!!! I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. After giving Chuck (the President) the desired travel itinerary, he refused to provide an accurate statement of the charges. Instead, he insisted I pay my deposit first, and then he would send the invoice. When I explained my need to see the fees before committing to the trip, he became condescending and began to contradict his previous statements. I DO NOT TRUST this company!!!

Fantastic experience: Lisa Mathis assisted us with our trip to Secrets Maroma Beach. I don’t even know where to begin to describe how absolutely fabulous our trip was. The resort, the service, the food, the ease of which everything came together far exceeded our expectations. We didn’t have one single hiccup the entire week. All was very well planned and I can’t thank you enough for your help and recommendation of this resort. They upgraded us to a swim out room as soon as we checked in (they said based on the request of our travel agent) so, I thank you for that Lisa! Negative experience: RUDE! RUDE! RUDE!! I have never in my life had this crappy of customer service!!!! We walked in to get some information about a trip and the woman told us "I can give you general information, It's going to cost 10-$15,000. You are traveling half way across the world". Point blank the end. Thank you So much for that USELESS information I could have gotten on the Internet!!! Talk about a pretty woman movie scene moment! I am so disgusted! Didn't offer to have a genuine conversation or even offer a seat to discuss anything!

Fantastic experience: Super quality service at a prompt and LIGHTNING FAST speed! I worked with Mardy Murray and he deserves tremendous credit. I had booked a last minute business trip due in less than three days and asked Mardy to work fast to get another ticket for my wife to accompany me. I contacted Mardy @ 12:30 afternoon, Mardy toiled through lunchtime, and got us into Premium Economy class seats, and e-mailed me confirmation e-tickets by 1:30PM. Fantastic experience: We worked with Chuck for our Honeymoon to Cancun. STRESS FREE working with A Way to go Travel. Everyone was extremely professional, and quick to set up our vacation. Chuck always humored me and my millions of stupid questions (husband nor I have been out of the country before) and had no issue giving advice. Fantastic experience: When we met Chuck a year ago, we were less than a month away from our wedding and needed honeymoon plans fast! He worked quickly to create the perfect honeymoon package for us. The resort — El Dorado Maroma in Riveria Maya, Mexico — wasn't something we were initially considering, but we were so glad we took Chuck's recommendation! Our honeymoon was so much better than we had ever hoped, and it was all within our budget! We had never used a travel agent before, but I wouldn't travel without one now! His pricing was better than what the resorts advertise on their websites, and he arranged our transportation to and from the airport at no additional cost. He was even on hand during our trip when we had an issue (our fault) with the reservation. It's nice to know someone is looking out for you when you're in another country! We were so pleased with A Way To Go Travel that we came back months later to plan another trip to the Dominican Republic. Chuck hit the nail on the head again with a fantastic resort (The Excellence Punta Cana). Now we're thinking about a trip to South or Central America and of course we'll be turning to Chuck and A Way To Go Travel for their expertise! When they recommend a resort, you can rest assured that it will be fantastic!
