Our comment from TraTraTravel about Fun For Less Tours:

Fun For Less Tours is recognized for its friendly and organized approach, creating a welcoming atmosphere that feels like family. Many travelers appreciate the passion and dedication of the guides, ensuring an educational and enjoyable experience. Guests often highlight the efficient planning of itineraries that allow for a comprehensive exploration of each destination.

However, there are critiques surrounding customer service and logistical issues. Some users reported difficulties in obtaining refunds or changes to their bookings, particularly in unforeseen circumstances. A few travelers felt that the large group sizes detracted from the authenticity of the experience, and noted a lack of adequate meal breaks during tours.

Overall, Fun For Less Tours is well-regarded for enriching travel experiences and in-depth cultural insights, making them a viable option for those eager to explore new destinations thoroughly.

Negative experience: My parents bought an Ultimate British Isles Cruise & Tour for this summer. They are in their 70s and took money from their savings to go on this tour that included many places they had on their bucket list to visit. Unfortunately my Mom has been in the hospital for the last 6 days with congestive heart failure. Her doctor has said she will not be able to go on this tour because of her condition. She is not stable to even travel outside of the state for at least 6 months. Fun For Less Tours has not been helpful. Barbara who I have been speaking to says because trip insurance was not purchased they can not refund their money, postpone their tour for next year (the same tour is offered), they won’t even give me names of people who are on the wait list or reach out to them to see if they want this open spot. She said we are just “out of luck”. We could try and sell the tour to someone else but there would be a $500 change fee per person and it had to happen today. I have requested to speak to Barbara’s manager and have heard nothing! Fun For Less Tour is NOT the Best for Less. My parents did not plan on a life threatening event happening that would prohibit their travel. They would be happy with postponing this tour for a year. Fun For Less say no. Terrible Customer Service. I would not book with them or make sure you have insurance.

We are sorry your mother is going through so much. Our Ultimate British Isles Tour/Cruise non-refundable rules are related to the cruise line's non-refundable rules. Your parents' money was paid to the cruise line, and we no longer have their money. The cruise line only allows one name change, and for that, they require a change fee, and the cruise line does not allow a postponement. We can't return or postpone what is not given back to us or allowed by the cruise line. That is why we so highly recommend passengers purchase travel insurance - for situations just like this that no one can foresee.

Negative experience: My husband and I went on the Travels of Paul and the apostles tour this past September and overall did not have a great experience. First, I just want to say that we are definitely not the target demographic and I think we probably should have realized that before booking, but after speaking to other people on our tour I know this isn’t just an age related issue. First, my husband and I feel like we did not get an authentic experience at all. Everything felt very manufactured and cookie cutter. When I visit another country I want to get a sense of the culture and how the locals live. This was not that. For one, they did not provide any time for lunch each day that we were touring so not only were we starving all day, but food is a major source art of the travel experience and they just skipped over that. Another point I would like to make is that this tour had 180 people in 4 tour buses which is way too big. David was split between four buses which is not what we were promised and not really fair to him either. The time we did have with him was great but there wasn’t much time with him overall. Also, they would have all four buses go to the same places at the same time which means that everything took ten times longer. Bathroom breaks always resulted in a long line and I felt like we were constantly being rushed through things. The last point I want to make is that a major selling point of any tour company is that they are supposed to vet everything, insuring that all the guides you have are of quality and that you have a good experience. Well out of all the tour guides we had, I feel that only two were really worth having. They did admit to us that they weren’t sure of the quality of some of the tour guides which is unacceptable. We spent a lot of money on this trip and took a chance on a tour company because we wanted to have this experience with David Butler, but I do not feel that we got the experience we were promised. We will not be going with a tour company again.

Thank you for your input related to your Travels of Paul Tour/Cruise experience. It is true that we do not give much free time for a lunch/snack. The last thing we want to say to our passengers is, "sorry because of the traffic, we don't have time to visit the Colosseum etc." - we have to get to our lunch appointment. As a tour company, we have chosen to try and see everything possible in the hours touring. An organized lunch for a group can easily cost 1.5 - 2 hours in travel time and eating time, which means you have to trade a wonderful site for a wonderful lunch. As a company, we have chosen the wonderful site. On the ship we were 4 buses; the cruise line would have upwards of 30 or more buses doing shore excursions each day. Even then, when possible, we split into two groups of two buses on shore excursions. When on land we stay in different hotels. We are sorry we couldn't meet your expectations.

Negative experience: Not happy with this company some how got my credit card information never even heard of this company till my bank notifying me been charging my card for 2 weeks called to resolve the problem lady on phone told me it could be someone using there name and charging my card don't think someone could do that with there name beware of this company

Negative experience: Just finished British Isle Tour and found FFL to be expensive and cost cutters. Buses are being subcontracted out by whomever they originally contracted with. They are making a killing on what they charge you for the cruise portion of the tour. I felt like a fifth grader on a school day outing, at times. They take us to Stratford-Upon-Avon for Shakespeare’s birthplace and burial site (Whoopie!), and we don’t even go to Warwick castle. They take you to the British Museum in London for all of two hours. Can you imagine! The place is enormous! We paid wat too much for what we got. Just sayin’

Negative experience: Not happy with the experience I had with this company. The David Butler tour was canceled because of everything that was going on in the Middle East. We canceled a few weeks before they officially canceled because of civil unrest and I get that there is a “non refundable deposit” but also this is a trip YOUR COMPANY offered that YOU ultimately canceled as well because of safety concerns. They offer other trips but that’s not what my family wants to experience and now we have conflicting dates or trips that sold out. If you don’t use the deposit within two years you lose it. Super frustrating when we are planning a trip for 6 people. They have our $3,000 deposit and I think this all could have been handled much better. I would not recommend traveling with them.

Fantastic experience: Any bus driver worth his salt would give his right mirror to drive for this group. Extremely courteous passengers, sharp and insightful educators, organized and thorough tour directors. Bob and Trudy Norton, Levi and Brittany Pardon, and Glenn Rawson have all been a treat to work with. Most importantly, guests will drink from a firehose of knowledge. I’ve worked with this company as a driver, which is a treat, but I’d love to travel as a guest with fun-for-less tours.

Fantastic experience: We recently returned from a trip to South Africa and Victoria Falls with Fun for Less. We originally were to see Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, but when the war started, FFL gave us the options of getting our monies back, waiting for the war to end, or apply the monies to a new trip. Being that my paternal grandmother was born and raised in South Africa, this was an easy decision. This was the first time for us to use a tour company for a vacation. My cousin, who has travelled multiple times with FFL, highly recommended them. I was glad we did! When I visit other countries, I like to see and experience as much of the local culture and sites as possible. If your idea of a good vacation is to sit by the pool for days on end, FFL isn't for you. I felt I got my monies worth for all the fun and exciting things we did and saw. We also had awesome tour managers, Karen and Galen Chatterton. Thanks for all your work in making our trip a success. !

Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed our Branson trip in November. The shows we saw were selected for variety and excitement. We always had excellent seats. Our tour guides, who were also performers, were well known and respected in Branson. They made us feel very welcome. I recommend this tour, and would go again.

Positive experience: We've enjoyed our tours, but when it's over and you're coming home, you're pretty much abandoned and left on your own. That's very frightening when you're in a different country. Someone from FFL should stay with the group from start to finish!!

Negative experience: Save your money & go with someone else. Prior to booking an Alaska / Yukon Tour & Cruise, we were told that because of Airfare prices out of Vancouver they were providing a bus to Seattle & we could take it. Now it's 4 weeks from our tour date & we've been informed that there won't be a bus. That there never was a bus. We can either pay an additional $1200 to fly from Vancouver to Seattle (spend the night in a hotel for another $300) & then Salt Lake City or we can change our flights from Vancouver to Salt Lake City for an additional $1600. When I try to talk to Customer Service their reply "I don't know who you talked to or what you were told if you look at our online information it says this." Well I was told that you had made other arrangements. And my favorite, "We aren't a travel agency, we're a travel company." We are only 4 weeks out & they still can't give me a disembarkation time so that I even know what time I can book my flight. This is beyond ridiculous & very unprofessional! They act like Holland America has booked this special trip just for them. But you can go on Holland America & book the exact same trip that Fun For Less is selling without all the hassle of having to change flight schedules at the last minute or being told things that aren't true. We're going to go on the trip & have as much fun as possible. But we definitely will never book with Fun For Less ever again!!

Negative experience: I have taken 2 trips with Fun for Less. While the itineraries and prices are very good, the customer service and unprofessional reps sent on the tours are enough for me to say, I'll never book with FFL again. I have never been so frustrated by constantly changing meeting times, missed opportunities to sight see (reps said there were many steps so we didn't go, which was not accurate). Overall FFL is very unprofessional, tour leaders are not trained to manage large tour groups. Choose another company

Negative experience: I have taken 3 tours with this company. The first 2 trips were fantastic! Great guest educator both times. The last trip was this year. My friend and I booked again because a trip this year had the same guest educator. We have learned so much from him. We were disappointed when they changed educators a few months out. At that time they assigned another known educator. Ok, we understood things happen. Again they changed, a new unknown team were assigned. They were not educators, they acted in the capacity of tour directors, very kind, tried their best, but had never been on a Fun For Less tour. I contacted the company with my disappointment. An explanation was given how they were trying to get 3 years of tours done at once….health issues, over booking of guest educators…..we understand all that. But we pay a premium for those guest educators! No offer of reimbursement or credit for not having that educator. Not what I expected from them.

Negative experience: We were on a cruise in Antarctica January of 2020. We found out that there was a Fun4Less tour on our sailing. Although we were not a part of the tour and understood that we could not participate in shore and tour only functions, we reached out before the trip and were told that we could join in the lectures. That there was plenty of room to do so. Once upon a ship, we left messages for the tour leaders, but heard nothing. We overheard people talking about a lecture that was coming up and went to that lecture. We sat in the back corner so it's not to be intrusive. We were approached by a member of the tour group and asked to leave. We explain to them that we had permission and again were told we could not be there. We reached out to the tour leaders several more times and never received a response. We would not tour with them for any reason. Our experience was that they are entitled and cliquish.

Negative experience: It’s hard to express how disappointed I was on our recent Danube trip with Passion Play. Their motto we take you was absurd regarding this trip. First our departure from Salt Lake was scheduled for 7:00am. We arrived at airport at 4am. No one was there. This happened the whole trip. We were repeatedly abandoned in the old town and told to find a bus home(not Fun For Less). Bonnie our person and her husband were never with us. Same with land tour. My luggage was left in Parisfor 2 days when it came to Budapest I was told to get a taxi to pick it up. Cost $50.00. It seems this company only cared about fulfilling their obligation for the paid trip. No concern for passengers. Everyone on this trip deserves an apology and refund for part of this trip. Miserable example of Fun For Less

D Hoffman 3 years ago

Negative experience: Rating Fun for Less Tours so poorly because of how badly they handled the cancelation of the 2020 tours due to covid. They were the only tour company I know of that refused to give refunds or work with customers for alternatives. I was booked with them and another company for international tours that summer. The other company offered choice of full refund, $500 discount if we kept the same tour for later, or discount on choice of other tours. I know many people traveling that summer and all received full refunds. Fun for Less Tours was the only company among them that refused refunds. Check reviews also on YELP. I will never travel with them again and cannot, in good conscience, recommend them.

Fantastic experience: We just returned from a 15 day tour of Italy that was capped off with the Passion Play in Oberammergau. It was a fabulous trip and Julie and Steve Taylor were outstanding guides, well-organized, upbeat, and fun. We saw every sight imaginable--traveled by bus, train, boat, and even a funicular! The play was amazing; it was worth waiting for after being cancelled in 2020 -- so glad we were able to experience this event. Thank you Fun for Less and all your staff for a wonderful experience.

Negative experience: This was truly one of the WORST tours. I spent 13 days in Europe on their Switzerland tour and the guide was the living worst. DO NOT use this company for a tour. Especially with Arie in Switzerland. Good hell.

Eliza Tanner Hawkins 3 years ago

Negative experience: After my parents (and several others) got Covid at the beginning of a recent tour to Europe and the British Isles, the tour company basically abandoned them. They told them to work with travel insurance and find their own way home. While they were sick (and didn’t speak any German), they had to find their way to Munich and then to London without help from the company. They bought airline tickets, and thankfully were able to get home despite a medical incident at the airport. The owner finally left a message saying that he had tried to contact them (but they never received any of his messages). We suppose the company and tours are fine, unless you run into a problem or get sick.

Negative experience: By far some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Booked a trip prior to Covid and the trip got postponed. Trip was paid in full prior to the postponement. Recently got an email invoice stating I owed an additional $88 so I called regarding the billing issue and pretty much got hung up on mid sentence (very abruptly placed on hold). Was mocked because I was questioning a charge of $88 stating that it was "only $88" and not a big deal. Then was told that no one in the office could explain why I was being charged and got told they had more important issues and it was "above his pay grade." Not to mention that my original flight with Delta cost more than the rescheduled one, fun for less told me I had a remaining $23 credit with Delta yet if I do the math it's closer to $70. Parents are going on the same trip and Fun for less over billed them by more than $1000 for flights, only reason it got caught was diligence on my parents part (Fun for less has since issued my parents a check for $1000+ for the over bill/payment). They definitely have some creative accounting/billing practices and some of the most horrific customer support I've ever experienced.

Friendly, knowledgeable, easy to understand and willing to answer every question. Thwy stay with you for the entire trip, and know how to have fun! They made every thing look effortless, probably because they have allies in every part of the world. They treated all the workers we interacted with like gold, and reminded us when to tip. Negative experience: We were booked for Danube River tour in 2020. Due to Covid the tour was cancelled. Even though it was rebooked for summer of 2021 we have had almost NO COMMUNICATION from Fun For Less about the itinerary, Covid status, and issues. We invested about 15K into the tour since 2019 and feel we have been ignored.

Fantastic experience: The opportunity to visit Egypt, Jordan and Israel for two weeks was one of the highlights of our lives. Although the views and venues were spectacular and riding a camel and visiting the Pyramids, sailing the Nile, and Petra were memorable, nothing compares to the teachings provided by Glen Rawson and the way we felt as we learned about the special and sacred places we visited. We couldn’t get enough of his teachings and were sad when it was time to return home. We would also like to thank Sandy and Steve for all their coordination efforts and ongoing support, kindness and love. “But of course,” thank you to Brother Joseph as well, our guide in Israel who reminded us so much of Tevye in the movie Fiddler on the Roof. It was a treasured time with old and new friends, and we look forward to joining Fun For Less again for another tour with Glen Rawson as the educator. “Shake a Leg!” Diane & Richard Casebolt

Fantastic experience: We discovered Fun for Less in 2016 and scheduled our first trip for Machu Picchu in June of 2017. We were so impressed with the over all organization of the trip and we enjoyed everything about it, the places we toured, the amount of time spent at each place, and our fellow tour mates. From Machu Picchu to now January 3 2018 we have been on 3 more trips. European Romance, Cuba, and Branson (Cuba and Branson the owners Jim and Carol traveled with us. They are absolutely the most delightful people to be around). We enjoyed each one of those trips so much that we have signed up for 4 more. I can't say enough good about the Fun for Less company. The other day my husband asked me what I would do with the money if I won the lottery. I thought about it and said "I would go on every tour Fun for Less has to offer!!!

Fantastic experience: The European Romance trip with Jack Marshal and his wife Liz, Ari, and Frankie was remarkable and truly amazing, They were all so skilled and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable. The places we went were breath taking. I have always wanted to go to Switzerland and I'm so grateful for the wonderful experience. I could not be more pleased and grateful. it is a trip to be taken by all. We were also with a most pleasant and fun group.

Fantastic experience: Toured Israel, Egypt and Jordan in March 2017 with S. Michael Wilcox. We recommend this tour without reservation, and advise EVERYONE to go, especially if you want to understand the Bible better. We were never concerned about safety- we are accompanied everywhere by a guide or a guard. And you MUST go to Egypt in order to understand the Jews- what Joseph of Egypt and Moses experienced shaped the children of Israel. Michael Wilcox's vignettes were so insightful, he was great! Our kids asked us to stop "gushing" about him, we were so enthusiastic. The historical guide, Joseph, was a veteran of the 6 day war- he had a very objective view of Israel- some guides are very disparaging of the Palestinians, and he wasn't. All the local guides that are contracted were also exceptional. We savored all the sites listed in the guide, and more. We went nonstop from morning departure to dinner at night. The hotels and food were terrific- gained 5 lbs. Had sufficient shopping for those interested. I will never sing "There is a Green Hill Far Away" again without thinking of the view of Jerusalem through the panoramic windows of the BYU Center for Near Eastern Studies, and of Christ approaching the Mount of Olives and his death. We had great comraderie on the buses, and everyone was on time every morning for departure. Our bus guides, Julie and Steve, were upbeat and pleasant, and kept us moving with a smile. We truly had a five star trip. We thought it was pricey when we booked, but afterwards, we felt like we really got a bargain! If you are on the fence, GO! You won't regret it!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I just completed our fourth tour with Fun for Less, returning from the Machu Picchu last week. As usual, Fun for Less delivered a great itinerary of sightseeing combined with an educator, John Lund, who provided explanations of what we were seeing along with historical backgrounds for the sites. This was the sixteenth visit that John and his wife, Bonnie, have been to Machu Picchu and he showed us sites and explained them like no other tour group receives. While i'm at it, I would like to make a recommendation for a restaurant in Puno on Lake Titticaca. We went to the Plaza de Armas and went into a restaurant named Mojsa just across the square and facing the large cathedral. The establishment is owned by a Peruvian woman and her son and daughter in law run it. The son is the chef and the daughter in law is an American woman from the mid-west. The food was excellent. When you enter and go up the stairs, you don't realize that there is a bar downstairs in the back, and another floor for dining above. Thanks again, Fun for Less, for delivering a five star experience in the highlands area and on the Peruvian Amazon. I'm looking forward to traveling again with you.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I just got home yesterday (Aug 5, 2016) from a British Isles land tour with Jack Marshall and Kent Flack. It was the best trip we've ever taken. We couldn't believe how much we saw in the 12 days we were gone. We crammed so much into those days and it was all worth it. We loved the people on our buses and became friends with them. We will definitely take another trip with FFL, it's the best way to go. It was also great to be with like minded people so that made the trip even that much better. Great job Fun For Less, you have another 2 admirers of your company. Calvin and Claire Baker Philadelphia

Dan G 959 9 years ago

Positive experience: A combination of wonderful experience with Michael WIlcox as a spiritual resource and a many logistics issues. We toured the middle east and Michael made the bible stories come alive. The buses were miserable, the food was generally terrible, the local guides were semi informed and manipulative (not the American fun for less employees who were wonderful.) One example: after traveling all day we got to the "5 star" boat on the nile. We went to dinner and it was italian night. There was a salad bar which we dared not eat in Egypt or Jordan. But we were expecting that. But the food.... rice, potatoes, lasagna noodles with bits of beef and red streaks, spaghetti with tasteless sauce and bread. That was the entire menu... Oh they had desserts. I don't eat them but was told they looked good and tasted not so good. I suspect it is because tourism is so bad they were trying to feed us as cheaply as possible. THe room was fine for a river cruise but certainly not 5 stars by US standards. CLeanliness was lacking. We were given a heads up that we would not get lunch most days. We brought protein bars. I looked recently and one of the competitors highlights that they get great lunches each day. It may be a tradeoff of time but I suspect it is how they keep costs down. THe guides in Egypt and Jordan also claimed to know the honest, safe people and places to buy things. One item, the guides said was available for $20US was available for $8 from street vendors. Another example.. camel rides.. At The "safe" rides one of the vendors told us they were required to pay the guides half of what we spent. I could go on and on about the guides but suffice it to say they are out for themselves... And their tone / mannerisms are not always respectful. Also this is probably not the right venue for type A personalities. I will say it was convenient that hotel keys were waiting for us, etc. Bottom line. I am glad we went but would have prefered for a lot to have changed. Perhaps that is the best that can be done with a large group. PS: we didn't choose them for their low price claims. Perhaps had we gone on a more upscale tour we would have been happier.

Their accomodations are top notch, you literally see EVERYTHING, and the only danger you run is weight gain (excellent buffet meals at clean restaurants) and exhaustion from 5am bags out calls. These tours are perfect for third world and foreign travel where it can be tough to arrange transportation and move from city to city. When you can't speak the language, I'm happy to let someone else be in charge. Highly, highly recommend the Egypt/Israel tour as one of the most amazing things I've done. Fun for less has some connections that enable their groups to do and see more than anyone else. Did I mention that it costs less than most tours by far? Seriously, I can't say enough about this company.
