Fantastic experience: Awesome US and Canadian officers!

Fantastic experience: Use the Waze app or search CBP Enrollment Center in google or follow the instructions as mentioned. I used Google Maps with the address provided, but it somehow took me to downtown. I figured it out eventually, though I was 20 minutes late. The officers were very humble, listened to me, and allowed me in. After that, the process went smoothly. Thank you, officers.

Negative experience: I called on the phone to get information about TSA pre-check enrollment and the person on the phone was very rude. I could not even ask my question fully before she cut me off when I tried to ask for the questions about how to get information she continued to shut me down and hung up on me 10 seconds into the phone call.

Negative experience: If I could give a lower rating than this I would. Before I could even finish my first sentence, I was cut off and hung up on. The woman on the line could not have known what my inquiry could be, but made a judgement because she clearly did not want to do her job. Out of my many experiences with government employees, this was the only truly negative one I have experienced. This person was despicable and showed the depth of her hatred towards her job. The call was "recorded for quality service", but I doubt it wiil ever be reviewed.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service! I called with a simple question about the SENTRI application, and the representative was shockingly rude and aggressive. It’s completely understandable if she didn’t have the answer, but basic politeness should be expected.

Fantastic experience: I want to express my deepest gratitude to the incredible team! Due to my work schedule, I wasn’t able to book an appointment on weekdays, but I found an available slot on Saturday and scheduled it three days in advance. After booking, I received a detailed email with all the necessary information, and following the instructions was effortless. I arrived 20 minutes early and followed the guidance provided in the email. The officer interviewing me was exceptionally kind, helpful, personable, and efficient. Step by step, I was asked for the required documents, and every question I had was answered thoroughly, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. Throughout the experience, the officer's care and professionalism was evident. The officer's warmth and efficiency made the appointment truly enjoyable, and hearing that I was approved and would soon receive my Nexus Card in the mail turned it into the best possible start to my day!

Fantastic experience: These guys helped me out multiple times. Everytime they went above and beyond to make sure I got all of the information.

Positive experience: The directions given are pretty good. If you're going for an interview, just know that that there is a small room with about six seats and about there are three places over-the-counter places to interview, kind of like going to a bank. I would recommend getting there 15-20 minutes early and then waiting in your car until 5-10 minutes before your interview. They are efficient, and you will not miss your appointment.

Fantastic experience: Visited the Enrollment Centre from Canada for my NEXUS interview on a long weekend. Make sure you follow the instructions that will be emailed to you a day or two prior. Navigating to it is easy with the Waze app as other map apps, including Google Maps, are NOT up to date. You will see signs for the CBP facility with smaller signs underneath them indicating directions to the NEXUS Enrollment Centre at the entrance. Once buzzed in, you will see further signs inside indicating where to drive to (right-hand side) and where to park (on the left-hand side). There are posted signs for each parking spot indicating it is for Enrollment Centre visitors. The US CBP and Canada CBSA agents were very professional and efficient inside the small office. Rules were explained to me and an opportunity was given for me to ask any questions. Very friendly staff, despite them having to deal with some clients that I witnessed when I was there. Clear instructions are provided on how to leave the facility, and you are redirected back into the US via the Interstate highway. You are not forced to leave the US after leaving the facility (contrary to some posted highway signage you may have seen on the way there). Overall and excellent experience. Many thanks to the CBP and CBSA agents who work there.

Positive experience: I have an appointment coming in next few days.I will be going with kids, would i me able to bring them along? is there any waiting area? Reading multiple reviews was helpful. But not able to gauge if i could have co-passengers with me in the car. Would they be given access to some common waiting area ? Or wait in the car? I will be travelling from Canada for the interview, Would I be able to go to Detroit or would i have to leave US after the interview? Thank you all in advance.

Negative experience: I visited for a Nexus interview. The CBP officers were very professional and the interview went smoothly. However, driving my way out from the building, the officer in the booth asked me for a slip, she showed me what it looked like, which I was not provided by the CBP officers. I explained her that I came in for the nexus program interview and didn't receive anything. I said that I have the appointment confirmation email and for her to call/radio the office if she needs to check for my identity. She then yelled, "NO!! LEAVE!!!!!!!" I was flabbergasted to say the least and was wondering if I did anything wrong. I very much felt like I was hustled out for no reason. I wanted to make sure I understood her correctly, yelling "LEAVE" at me, because who would expect that when you were visiting the facility very legally, for a righteous reason? I drove out slowly because I still wasn't sure if she's yelling at me to leave, then she got out of the booth yelling "LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE!!!!!!" and followed my car.. I understand that it's the border area so they must be very keen on keeping the roads clear and everything, and have policies regarding that, but couldn't the officer have done the communication better? The officer said "NO, LEAVE", I would have interpreted it much better if it was said "You're clear to go. Leave" or something like that. Is it their policy to yell LEAVE to someone's face? Why do I have to feel like I'm being kicked out from somewhere, especially without even knowing if I'm all set to leave when the officer didn't even care to verify who I was?? I don't know who messed up, and will never know. Did CBP forget to give me the slip? Was it a miscommunication between the office and the booth? What I can say for sure was that I left this facility hugely frustrated and feeling disrespected.

Fantastic experience: I came here twice: one for my first Nexus interview, and 2nd time for updating my document. The interviews went smoothly both time. It would be a bit tricky to find the entrance if you come here for the first time.

Fantastic experience: I visited for my Global Entry interview. Note-registered for the interview online and was given detailed instructions for getting here. The “no re-entry into the US” signs are intimidating if you don’t read the instructions throughly. Staffs were quick to help and knowledgeable. It was a positive experience and straightforward without any surprises.

Jo-C Coleman 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: We had an early morning appointment for Global Entry. The instructions from the website on how to apply were easy to understand. The directions to the location and suggested app worked perfectly. Inside, the appointment was on time and very quick. The service was great and professional. The turnaround to receive our GE cards was less

Positive experience: Had a search through my truck. I have no problem with this. The strange part was i was told to stand in front of my truck and look away. I was not allowed to face my truck. Was not allowed to see what they were doing. Never ever had this in my years trucking. Again i have no problem that they want to look through my truck and them doing there job. They also checked my load. Again no problem but why was the driver not informed after they sealed up the trailer. I found out later. Now we have to explain this to the receiver. Normally i let them write down the seal number on the bill of lading with a cbp stamp ore officer info. I was told after the search u can go. Because i was not allowed to face my truck i only thought it was a cab search.

Negative experience: Why would they put this in a building that's in the middle of a walled off compound, near a confusing tunnel-to-Canada round about? My Uber driver wouldn't take me in here because it says you need a passport to leave, so I missed my appointment. Regardless of this it's a terrible location. I regret doing Global Entry and should have just done TSA pre-check to start out with. The only way Global makes sense is if you happen to live in a city with an easily accessible appointment center (most do NOT.) Avoid this enrollment center at all costs!

Fantastic experience: All of the officers welcomed me with a big smile. I know for some it could be a nerve-racking experience but you won’t feel that at this centre. A special shoutout to officer Martinez. She processed my NEXUS application super fast and she was kind and courteous throughout every step. If you’re renewing your NEXUS application, choose this location. Also, how can I not acknowledge a fellow Tim Hortons coffee drinker. Thanks CBP Detroit!

Fantastic experience: The officers were so nice, personable, helpful, fast, and efficient!! Answered all of my questions very thoroughly and made the whole experience super pleasant!! I had also called with a question a few days prior to my appointment, and the person I spoke with on the phone was direct and efficient, which I really appreciated because she was not trying to make anyone hold for too long or waste time unnecessarily! Throughout the whole process, it was obvious that the officers cared about my time but also wanted to make sure I had all of the information I needed! Not to mention, my appointment was early in the morning, but the vibes at the office were immaculate! I was honestly dreading this appointment but the officers were so nice that the appointment ended up making a great start to my day!! I'd give more than five stars if I could!!!!!

Positive experience: This office was easy to find with Waze. The staff, while officious as most government staff are and need to be, were efficient, effective and reasonably fast. I was there to change my Nexus from my American citizenship to my now Canadian citizenship. Surprisingly, my agent wanted to know why a Canadian needed a Nexus card at all. The other agents just stared at her. Sorry - but logic should be part of the hiring protocol. Also, living in a border city and working at a Nexus office should make that as obvious as the guy on the $1 bill. I do hope that Canadians are treated well here. It’s a two way bridge. The only difference is that I now live on the other side and chose that citizenship.

Christine Hardwick 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Place was decently easy to find and get to. They recommend Waze but I used Google maps and got there just fine. As the previous reviews say: stay in the left lane when approaching site and turn left. You'll need to use the intercom and they'll buzz you in. Now, the decently hard part - the place is confusing. There are no real lanes and semi trucks are driving everywhere. When you enter: Stay to the LEFT. If you go right you end up face to face with a truck coming out of the x-ray machine. Also, not too far left - use the middle left. That will put you in the parking lot. When you enter the building there are 2 tests: Test 1: pick the right door Test 2: open the right door. You need to use the intercom and they will buzz you in. Pull (PULL!) the door when it buzzes. While they are used to us happy idiots, it's still annoying when they have to keep pushing the button. Process went smoothly for me. Just answer the questions and don't try to engage in too much chitty chat. It's a government procedure not a social event. Expect polite firmness - answer in kind and it will make their day easier. They will give you instructions on how to leave. Kinda. Follow the instructions and stop at the booth. The agent will tell you to cut across the lanes and follow the semis. No...not those semis. The OTHER semis. Following the former will put you in the x-ray line. Don't worry if you follow the wrong semis....you just do a circle (not in the x-ray lane - if you end up here you need to stay to the left where you get put back out in the parking lot) and you get to talk to the agent at the booth again who will look at you like the happy idiot you are and will remind you to follow the OTHER semis. Laugh at your idiocy and the agent will likely laugh with (at?) you. Good luck!

Fantastic experience: Quick in and out. Hug the left side to see the entry under the bridge when entering border facility. Pretty much when the highways end

Michael Oller 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Fast, efficient and polite. Who knew I'd say that about a government agency but this facility (the two guys working) were that and more. Our Global Entry process went smoothly, we entered about 5min early and everything was completed in a matter of 15 min (+/-). This facility was easy to get to using the WAZE app.

Positive experience: Came for my NEXUS renewal and the experience was meh. The female officer who answered the main gate buzzer was extremely polite. Most other CBP officers were serious but neutral. However, the male officer who did my interview tried to give me a hard time. I understand this is a risk-based program and he has the power of asking various background questions. However, I really didn’t get the point of asking if I will ever visit my home country again after my mom’s immigration journey completes. I have taken an oath and pledged allegiance to this Flag and to the Republic for which it stands, and love the US no less than him. At the end, I had my renewal but it just left a bitter taste. The CBSA officer was super nice, so thank you. As a reward for traveling all the way to here from Texas, I got an amazing view of the bridge. Hard to believe the bridge is almost 100 years old. Till next time we meet in 2029.

Fantastic experience: I went to this center from Canada on Saturday to expedite my Nexus card application. Officers were friendly and my job was done pretty quick. The only challenge was to find the location for the first time! So I used both my Garmin navigator and Waze! Follow the procedure on the leaflet that is emailed to you a day earlier and all will be done in less than half an hour.

Negative experience: You get different responses depending on who you talk to. I called a couple different time to verify how I can change my last name after marriage on my global entry. 3 different officers told me the same thing about how I can send them my information. Then after it’s sent I called back upon their request and a very rude women answered and said I had to go into the airport location enrollment center. I just wish everyone had the same information, cause now I’m scrambling to get down there before my next travel date. Be more organized before you tell someone how they can change their information.

Fantastic experience: I called this morning and had the pleasure of an extremely helpful, friendly patient agent. I had been trying to solve the issue myself for almost 6 months. This gentlemen walked me through my issue every step of the way! Nothing but praise for this guy!!!

Hugo Rettiz 2 years ago

Negative experience: Hard to find. Coming from the US, stay on your left side and turn left under the bridge. Stop at the gate and wait for someone to come take care of you. Don’t go over the bridge so it will take you to Canada. Save some time.

Michael Kulchycki 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very straight forward experience. Navigating here is a bit weird, follow the bridge to Canada signs, BEFORE you see the duty free shop, look at the left for a gate, you need to buzz in at that gate, tell them your appointment time, then proceed to the limited parking available. LEAVE YOUR DAMN PHONE IN THE CAR, print your instructions back at home - there are clear instructions in the Nexus waiting area. Look for Nexus/Global Entry office doors, then buzz in again. There are four terminals, depending on their availability there were two men and two women working the counter that day plus two Canadian Border personnel using a back office cubicle. They take your photo at the counter, leave your jacket on the chair (during winter/spring/fall). You'll make two rights to leave the facility, stay to the right to enter the duty free shop area, if you go left of the yellow cones, you'll end up back in Detroit - stop at the first booth, there is a guard there. They even printed instructions for customers because there are a lot of trucks that cause a bit of confusion. Such a positive experience that I'll be using this for other family members passes in the next few months. Call the 1-313 number if you're late, they have a slew of available appointments, this was the best alternative than waiting for the Canadian locations to re-open. Be honest and up front with the officers, they know your travel patterns and can see your history on their screens.

Fantastic experience: It is a little tricky finding the place. Just stay to the left and you'll be ok. I got there an hour early not knowing how long it would take to get there. They took me in. I didn't have to wait. The agents I spoke with were nice and I breezed through my appointment. Remember to stay to left.

Fantastic experience: Good experience getting international travel matters handled. Customs officer was professional and efficient.

Graham 4 years ago

Negative experience: One staff member was extremely unhelpful and, literally, had no clue what he was talking about. Website stated "call the enrollment center" about my query; Enrollment center said "visit the website". You try politely explaining to people (when you finally get through), and you are met with utter discard and attitude! Why is asking a question always responded to with a deflecting answer these days (not my job, not interested, visit the website, leave me alone I'm just collecting my paycheck)? Whatever happened, to our once great, public services? If people are that unhappy in their role, they need to seek alternatives. Suffice to say, this place needs some serious training for their staff members!

Kirk Lee 4 years ago

Negative experience: Very hard to find. Rude personal

Steven Rimar 4 years ago

Negative experience: Hard to find and use Waze. Just as you think you are getting on the bridge to Canada there is a cutoff that goes to enrollment center on the US customs compound at the base of the bridge. Don’t try the phone number. It doesn’t work. Once you find it no problems. Good luck.

Big Grew 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: Use the WAZE app to find this place for sure. You will be greeted by CBP officers who will ask if you have an appointment and what time. They will then tell you where to park and to call the number on the parking signs BEFORE you get out of your car. The person on the phone will confirm your information and tell you where to enter the building. Inside there will be a buzzer w/ a camera, listen to them and open the door. My experience for Global Entry was under 5 min long. They verified my information, asked if I had any criminal history/immigration issues, took my photo and fingerprints and was done. When you exit you will also be stopped by an agent, you tell them what you were there for (Interview) and if you don't known how to exit you can ask. In my case, i just followed the LEFT most lane and followed the VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND signs to the freeway. Friendly agents and super fast. I felt it would be intimidating but it really wasn't.
