Fantastic experience: Everything about my recent charter with Virgin Island Sailing was exceptional. The whole process is so easy I don’t know why anyone would choose to do it any other way. I request the type of boat that I want and when I want it. They take care of everything. If I have last minute requests it never seems to be a problem. In fact I’m going to ask for my next charter right now.

Fantastic experience: My husband, myself, our two friends, my three kids, nephew and my dad (Captain) had a great experience and epic adventures sailing in the BVI. My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary and we combined this with a 50th birthday celebration for both of us and our two lifelong friends. The Baths, tarpon feeding at the Bitter End, Willy T’s, The Soggy Dollar, snorkeling, paddle boarding, and of course Foxy’s were just a few of the awesome experiences. We met wonderful people at every port and beach, and Captain Jason Greyson who gave us some great tips. Looking to return in three years!

He found Virgin Island Sailing online and the below review is in his own words: ------------- Virgin Island Sailing was by far the most professional, reliable and easy to work with charter brokerage I have come across in the last years. From day one, the communication was clear, transparent and once I paid the deposit for my booking, I received an online account profile with all the rservation, charter, payment information. Weeks later, we received a comprehensive visitors guide in the mail, which helped us get aquainted with the USVI. The concierge team was in contact with me for upcoming reminders of all sorts. We received a pre-charter check-off list. As a reminder, VIS is a broker, so the day off the arrival at the marina, we dealt with their local partners, which were equally as straightforward to deal with...no surprises, misc. charges etc. By the time we arrived the entire trip was paid for so it was a beautiful transition onto the boat. We only signed a basic waiver, no credit card holds or anything like that. --------- In regards to the yacht we chartered. It was a 2022, Lagoon 42 Catamaran. It was in great condition. Well maintened, very clean. The local marina crew was very helpful in giving me comprehensive run-down of the vessel. We were forced to spend the first night in the marina, since check-in was at 5 PM, but the chart briefing and final checkout not until the next morning at 9AM. We initially wanted to leave the night before, but having had the chance to stay one night in port, gave me the ability to properly study the yacht, get all the provisions we needed, event go back to the store in the morning for items we forgot. I now agree and support the "1st night in port" concept. We can't wait to book through VIS (Virgin Island Sailing) again for next years trip. Our kids still can't stop raving about it to family and friends. It was a trip of a lifetime.

Fantastic experience: I loved working with Cara at Virgin Island Sailing. As a broker, who gets paid by the company, not us, they made the planning of our Sailing trip in the British Virgin Islands so easy. There were so many details and Cara and the concierge team were always ready to help. The trip itself was wonderful! Each meal was like a 3 star Michelin restaurant. The Captain was also our dive master. We snorkeled every day and he kept us safe! He also caught a lobster, which we had as an Appetizer. The crew was so nice, great fun and very accommodating. The boat was huge and the cabins had super comfy beds, air-conditioning and a TV with all the channels along with wifi. We visited a different island every day, each unique. We even booked a massage on a floating spa. In summary, we couldn't have been happier with our trip and Virgin Island Sailing made it happen!

Negative experience: Dream Yachts was my worst boating nightmare! As a novice sailor, I was really excited to join some friends on a sailing trip in the BVI’s. Dream Yachts ruined that experience. First, within hours after getting our final payment, they switched the boat on us and then charged us $1500 extra for a different boat that ended up being a dangerous and unusable vessel. Within one hour of our first sail, the block on the rail of the front sail tore loose; whipping a 5lb piece of metal hurling and swinging through the air all over the front of the boat - thankfully it didn’t kill one of us. That essentially turned the boat into a motorboat, because we couldn’t sail for the rest of the trip. As if that wasn’t enough, we had a dysfunctional head, the fridges kept breaking and we lost tons of our provisions due to spoilage (and they misdiagnosed the issue and then took almost a week before replacing batteries, which should have been simple). We tried to work with them while there (they didn’t come to do repairs as arranged so we wasted days waiting, and they wouldn’t even reimburse us for the groceries that we had to replace). Since the trip we have tried many times to raise our concerns with Dream, and the customer service has been abysmal… they won’t even return our calls. Do not charter with Dream Yachts! BEWARE!

Fantastic experience: My family & I had an incredible trip with Virgin Island Sailing! This was our first trip to the BVI & first time doing a yacht charter and we will surely do it again. It was AMAZING! Cara with Virgin Island Sailing was a pleasure to work with and was always available to answer any questions that came up. She was super kind, helpful, and caring towards ensuring our family had the best experience. She helped us choose the perfect yacht for our trip, Apricity! Apricity was AWESOME! The yacht was super clean, spacious, and well taken care of. We were equipped with everything we needed on board and loved every minute spent sailing throughout the islands. Our crew, Milla (captain) and Elif (chef) took excellent care of us. We left it up to them to show us the best spots around the BVI and they did not disappoint! Milla was an incredible captain and my family felt very safe under her care. Elif was an excellent chef and accommodated to our gluten free needs with ease! She made excellent gluten free desserts that you could not even tell lacked gluten. Overall, I could not recommend Virgin Island Sailing & Apricity more!

Fantastic experience: First - Joann is the BEST! For most, this is a huge outlay of funds for a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Using VIS and specifically Joann, takes so much of the stress and work out of the equation with zero additional cost to you. We have now been to the BVI on bareboat charters 3 times with our 4th coming up and there's no other way I'll book!

Fantastic experience: We found Virgin Islands sailing online through google as we were exploring our first crewed sailing charter as a family vacation. We were lucky to have found them and Cara in particular. An absolute gem who walked us through the entire process and helped us to select the sailing vessel and crew that would best match our family. We returned on Dec 27, 2024 from our 7 day trip onboard the Legasea with captain louis, chef Tersia and jack of trades deck band Rudy. Fantastic experience: our trip on Altesse was epic. The crew Kennon and Stephine we so prepared for us. made us feel more than welcome on board. the food was off the hook! Half of us we returning guest and the other half we first timers in the BVI. The crew did a great job of taking us to quite coves for us returning guest, while taking the newbies by tender to some of the attractions they wanted to see. Fantastic experience: VI Sailing takes the stress out of chartering a Sailboat in BVI. Just let them know what your boat parameters are and choices appear. After picking a boat they do all of the work to set up the Charter. You are still responsible to fill out all of the forms, but VI Sailing presents them to you and makes the process easy. They handle any communications with the Charter Company before and after the Charter. I couldn't recommend VI Sailing and their Staff Highly enough. We completed a successful Charter in February 2024. Thanks to VI Sailing!

Fantastic experience: I chose charter broker VIS because I hadn't chartered in the Bahamas before or with a major charter company operating there, and was uncertain of the state of recovery after the devastation of Irma and then killer Dorian. VIS quickly provided options from all viable copmpanies matching my criteria and their concierge team remained in support until sail date. I was at first leery of using a broker operating stateside (Tampa), but I now realize how standard business procedures can better serve my interests, mon. I also now have another charter company I can potentially deal with directly as a satisfied repeater.

Fantastic experience: I have used VI Sailing since I booked my first charter in 2014. Since then I have always used them. The ease at which they coordinate everything and the options that they give you are outstanding. My most recent charter (2021 - Bahamas) I had a bad experience with a company I never used before. I quickly got VI Sailing on the phone and they worked to make things right. Without them I am not sure I would have received any monetary compensation back. My advice, let them do the heavy lifting. I have done my own rate searches and frankly I cannot find a better deal than what VI Sailing does. If I did I am not sure the delta would be enough for the guidance they provide. Great service!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I was very wary to use a company I found online to book a trip like this, especially as this was our group's very first charter. However, I couldn't be more impressed with the experience! Very professional. Quick response time. Payment details were transparent and contract provided. Clear instructions on how and when to pay, including self-addressed and stamped envelopes to mail payment, or online credit card option. This company also went above and beyond to call and check in, making sure we had packing lists and trip insurance. They sent us our options, presented in a very clear way, helped us plan and even sent us Cruising Guides after our booking to help us further plan. They also helped with lodging, ferry's and taxis. They were very quick to respond, and had good information. When choosing our charter company, they told us about thier experiences with them. Fantastic experience: We had an amazing trip with Capt John & Heather on the Rumba! They went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. They even toured us around Anegada in a jeep/truck for the entire day when they could have had the time to themselves! The food was amazing! Who thought you could prepare gourmet meals in a TINY kitchen with no stove! And the portions were perfect. Not too heavy. Best of all, they are both experienced sailors so we had many beautiful sails with them! We were pleasantly surprised at how well they knew the USVI and BVI islands, as they are somewhat new to the area, but you would never know by the knowledge of snorkel spots, restaurants, island history, etc that they shared with us. We would definitely sail again with them!

Fantastic experience: Very friendly and competent staff. The 4 year old Jeanneau 41 we chartered was in very good condition. Barbuda beaches are beautiful and frigate bird sanctuary very interesting. Lots of cruising destinations and other islands to explore next time. Came home with some bug bites but many great memories. Highly recommended for blue water sailing.

Fantastic experience: Why did I not use VI Sailing before? Melody and the entire group makes our BVI sailings a snap. Last year after the hurricane our boat was suppose to be ready for our 2018 sailing but a week before the charter company we used in the BVI cancelled our sailing. I called VI Sailing and Melody found us a replacement in 15 minutes. This year had a 2019 Logoon 52 and 14 friends.

Fantastic experience: We (two couples) only had 5 days to charter a sailboat in the beginning of February. I found Virgin Island Sailing online and found a 2011 36 foot Catamaran that was perfect. The charter company was informative, helpful and responsive. Everyone was very nice. Our sailing trip around St. John was outstanding!

Negative experience: Been brokering through VI Sailing for the last two years with Emily. The first year went okay. There were some misunderstandings concerning the number of people that were to be on trip that caused some 11th hour hurdles but Emily helped us out and even split some of the extra costs with us. The second year, the boat we chartered with Emily ran aground and it happened unbeknownst to VI Sailing. We ultimately made things work out but VI Sailing did very little to help alleviate about a month's worth of consternation leading up to our arrival. The third year we contact Emily and VI Sailing again about booking another yacht or two and she/they promised to work on it. We heard nothing back from her and frankly still haven't. We ended up having to reach out to your prior Captain and he arranged our trip. I would love to recommend VI Sailing because sailing in the BVI is magically but I find VI Sailing and their staff reactive at best and unresponsive to issues at worse. You can do better than this given how much it costs to charter and all the moving pieces they are suppose to be taking care of on your behalf. Beware of this operation and, if you do choose them, Emily in particular.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience working with VI Sailing to book a bareboat charter in the BVIs. Initially I was trying to do it all the research, comparisons and booking myself and contacted VI Sailing on a whim, but they were able to find options I hadn't been able to find on my own & made the process so seamless and painless. Joann was knowledgeable and always quick to respond to questions, and would send advance reminders when payments were coming due. Will definitely work with them again next time we charter!

Fantastic experience: Our trip to the BVIs this past May was nothing short of amazing. My boyfriend Ken and I were fortunate to have come across Virgin Island Sailing. Mallorie, our Bareboat Division Broker, became our main point of contact, and she was a tremendous help in selecting a yacht and planning the logistics of our trip. We arrived at Wickham’s Kay around 8pm the day of our departure. We met our friends Kara and Spencer awaiting our arrival along with the provisions we had ordered from Riteway market for delivery. Our boat, which was chartered through Sunsail, was a Jenneau 41 and was actually an upgrade from the boat we had originally booked. The next morning we arranged to spend with a Skipper to show us the ropes of the boat (no pun intended). He went through how to reef and trim the sails, boat handling around the docks, anchoring, and mooring. Within a couple hours, he left us to go out on our own and our journey began. Our first sail was to Norman Island. En route, we chose to stop at The Indians for some snorkeling. We arrived in the afternoon, we moored, and used the dinghy to drive up to Pirates Bight, a restaurant on the coast. We relaxed on the beach, and enjoyed the sunset into the evening. At night, we made our way to the infamous Willy T’s, a floating tow-story barge with a bar and kitchen. They served us strong drinks and provided a fun atmosphere for the other sailing parties. The next morning we set out to Leverick Bay. Once docked, we decided to take the dinghy out for a drive to one of the nearby beaches and spent some time on the aptly named Mosquito Island. We then headed back to the marina to get ready for a barbecue on the beach at Jumbies Beach Bar. The dinner was an all you can eat buffet with entertainment by a local singer, and of course the Jumbies; dancers in brightly colored circus clothing on stilts. We left the next morning early to sail south on Virgin Gorda to the Baths. Along the way, we were able to pick up a little wind which made for a decent sail. Once at the Baths, we moored and then swam up to the beach, doing some snorkeling along the way. The Baths were amazing, and we had a lot of fun looking at the marine life while making our way through the trails and climbing the rocks. From The Baths, we headed to dock for the night at Scrub Island. This was the fanciest of the places we docked, and we were met by mega yachts and vacationers that have way more money than we do. We put on our best outfits to enjoy a nice dinner at one of the resort’s restaurants. After a restful sleep at Scrub Island, it was time to make our way out to Jost Van Dyke, our final stop and our longest sail. It was mid-afternoon when we sailed into the Great Harbour, where we moored and planned to stay for the night. We had heard that moorings would become more difficult to find as the evening approaches because they are close to Foxy’s, a popular nighttime destination. We were excited to go to the legendary Soggy Dollar Bar, so we took the dingy over to White bay which took about a half hour. Later that night we went to Foxy's. It was a really cool bar with lots of good music, drinks, and dancing. The next morning we awoke early to bring the boat back to the marina on Tortola. The cruise from Jost was quicker than we had anticipated, and we made it back with plenty of time to spare. The helpful deckhands were there to assist us dock the boat in the slip upon our arrival, and the final inspection and checkout process was very easy. I am so glad they we used a yacht charter to see the islands. As my first sailing experience, I have to say that it really trumps any other vacation I’ve taken. We are already planning our return where we hope to make the sail to Anegada, and take a scuba diving class. Overall, the trip could not have gone better and I absolutely can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic experience: We booked twice with VI Sailing and got great deals and awesome info from Mallorie. She is a wealth of information and a pleasure to deal with. The latest weeklong sailing was in the BVIs and was at the end of May 2015. This time we upgraded to a 47ft Leopard power cat, the Lady "B"; and we gathered 8 family members from the US and Europe. We wished we had planned 2 weeks. Maybe next time. The BVI sailing (actually: powering) was in the typical good and calm weather you can expect in the Virgin Islands during spring, making the vacation very enjoyable for everyone. We are already planning a return because it is a great opportunity for a family-get-together when we are spread all over the world. Thanks VI Sailing for looking after us. Cheers the Fazis

Fantastic experience: We booked a cabin cruise charter through Virgin Islands Sailing this past Spring. We just returned last week from our sail on Dream Yacht Charter's "Dream Martinique", an incredible 62' Lagoon 620 catamaran. It was a great week on the water, visiting some fabulous islands. Melody and the crew at VI Sailing were very helpful and thorough. Our questions were answered promptly, all needed documentation was clear and timely, efficiently sent and returned electronically. They also mailed us a really nice cruising guide to the Windward Islands, Martinique to Grenada, which covered the home port, Le Marin, and all the islands we visited in detail. Melody followed up periodically with reminders about final payment, required documents for our trip, etc. and made the whole process easy and convenient. Our sail, of course, was spectacular. The weather wasn't the picture-perfect sunny Caribbean one always hopes for, but it didn't matter. The breezes were fresh and great for sailing, the boat was the largest and most luxurious catamaran in every port and harbor we visited, and a competent captain and crew took care of our every need. What's not to like? Our trip took us from Le Marin, Martinique, a quaint seaside fishing village melded with sophisticated modern charter marina, down-island past St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, including Bequia, Mustique, Mayreau, and the Tobago Cays. We experienced some great snorkeling at Bequia and St. Vincent, swam with turtles at Tobago Cays, saw dolphins swimming off our bow heading back up to St. Lucia, where were took an excursion to the worlds only drive-in volcano, bathed under a warm waterfall, and had a pleasant walk through a beautiful botanical garden. We would definitely do it again, or try another Dream Yacht Charter destination, and we'll be sure to book it through Virgin Island Sailing.

Fantastic experience: Our charter through VI Sailing was booked a year in advance for a party of 10 sailing in June 2015. The recommended boat was a Leopard 4600, which accommodated our group well, consisting of 6 children. The onboard generator was instrumental in charging the batteries at times throughout the day and keeping my wife cool, who suffers from an autoimmune disorder. The boat was ready for us by 1700 for a sleep aboard and the charter company, Conch Charters, got to us first thing the day of our departure to begin the check-out. With no experience on catamarans we were required to have a check-out skipper, which was very beneficial to the crew as they hoisted the mainsail, experienced a couple of tacks and practiced dropping the anchor. Our course was phenomenal with many memories (see my longer post with images). We have chartered through VI Sailing twice over the past three years in the BVI. While we love it we'll likely be looking for a new experience in sailing somewhere else. VI Sailing can help us with that charter as well. Overall we were very pleased with the entire experience.

Fantastic experience: We seem to find a reason to go sailing in the BVI every year or two. 2015 was the year. As we had been very happy with VI Sailing in past adventures, we emailed VI Sailing and received a quick response from Mallorie. She helped us explore many options and schedules. One of the great things about VI Sailing is they have an online list of boats from all the major companies. It's one stop shopping, I don't have bounce back and forth among sites to compare options and details. Working with Mallorie, we determined a Sunsail Jeanneau 38 was the best option. Mallorie took care of all the booking details, sent reminders of when payments were due and gave suggestions (like online provisioning) to make the adventure as easy as possible. Mallorie even sent us a new BVI cruising guide! VI Sailing is always easy to work with. I like their chat option when working out details. We plan to use them for our next sailing adventure.

Fantastic experience: This was our second trip booking with Virgin Island Sailing and I have to say we had some pretty high expectations and VISailing surpassed them! The check-in of the boat was very smooth and easy. We received a detailed explanation of how everything works and asked as many questions as we could think of. We had sailed only once before in the Bahamas so we kind of knew what we were doing but even if we didn’t we could have asked and they would have helped us out. The whole check-in processes took under an hour and was very smooth. The catamaran itself was gorgeous! We were 4 people in total and there was enough room for probably 8 people or maybe more! The boat offered everything. We knew right away that the next week was going to be a blast! When we sailed away from port we set course for one of the small islands near Tortola and were sailing just under wind power. The sails on this boat were fantastic. We did use the motor a few times when the wind came from directions that would have made it hard for us to sail. Let’s just say we were pretty lazy and didn’t want to put too much effort into it. The weather was fantastic the entire time. It was very breezy but this was a good thing since it was the beginning of summer and the sun was beating down on us and the cat. Bring lots of sun screen and hats when you come because you’ll need them! On our first day of sailing we got an a/c problem. We finally decided the only thing to do was call VISailing and they immediately sent someone out to come to us and help us. They were extremely helpful . This was an amazing service provided to us and is one of the many great things that I can say about this company. You will truly not be let down by them. The catamaran has a lot of technology onboard that will make your boating very easy. The one we rented came with a large GPS system that displayed all kinds of useful information such as reefs, boating lanes, places of interest, etc. It also comes with a depth and reef finder which is very useful for fishing, snorkeling, and scuba diving. We did some scuba diving and the water was absolutely perfect. Visibility was around 50-60 feet and the reefs were colorful and amazing to dive through. They are just as good as the reefs at the Bahamas that we dived through a few years ago. I want to point out that it’s important to follow the GPS system and not try to go at it alone. There are lots of reefs and corals around the Virgin Islands and it is very easy to get stuck on them. I recommend that you always put your destination in the GPS and follow it as close to the track as possible. This way you will not hit any reefs and will arrive at your destination safely. There are also lots of ship wrecks that can be dived and snorkeled through that are displayed on the maps. By the way VISailing gives you a map upon arrival which is very useful. The map in conjunction with the navigation system makes for smooth sailing around the various beautiful islands. The people at the Virgin Island are simply amazing and so friendly. Every island that we stopped at we had positive experiences with both the locals and the other travelers. You can enjoy the night life until the wee hours of the morning and there are tons of places to anchor and get a drink. Although prices are somewhat high this is to be expected for a location such as the Virgin Islands. The quality of food and drink however is very good compared to other places in the Caribbean. All in all I must highly recommend Virgin Island Sailing. Everything about our trip was just fantastic. From the catamaran, to the weather, the service, the experience, everything was perfect. Melody was great to work with. The next time we come we are definitely going to bring more people so that we can share this amazing experience with more of our friends. Thanks a lot!

Fantastic experience: The first few charters my wife and I took were planned without referrals. So I spoke with multiple charter companies, trying to get the best deal available. I invariably ended up with Virgin Island Sailing and Melody Delgado. Now I just go directly to her. I am confident that I'm going to get the best advise, price and support using her and the VI staff. They are competent, knowledgeable, and always on top of things. I highly recommend Virgin Island Sailing. Five star service for sure.

Fantastic experience: This was our 3rd trip Bare Boating Charter in the BVI's; the 1st time with Virgin Island Sailing. What a wonderful experience it was. The prior 2 times we sailed out of Nanny Cay, whereas with Virgin Island Sailing we had the opportunity of sailing out of Roadtown with Sunsail. We were very impressed by the immediate pickup at the ferry dock after going through customs in Roadtown. They got us quickly to the Marina and checked in. We were able to do our provisioning at the local markets and we were off early the next morning. Thank you Virgin Island Sailing for all your assistance and coordination of this special event.

Fantastic experience: This was our second time chartering through Virgin Island Sailing (May 2015) and we will be back just as soon as we can! We reserved a Jeanneau 469 out of Tortola for 8 nights. Words can't begin to describe how incredible sailing the Virgin Islands can be! Joann is extremely knowledgable about the area and did a great job making sure all our group needs were met. She is professional and responsive. Why limit yourself to just one charter company? If you're thinking about booking a sailing vacation, stop thinking and do it! You won't be sorry working with visailing! Top notch outfit!

Fantastic experience: We recently came BACK to the BVIs after a number of years hiatus (10!). We had previously chartered through the Moorings and had a good experience, but a friend who had spent a great deal of time in the BVIs recommended Melody Delgado from VI Sailing & Seven Seas who steered us to BVI Yacht Charters, a smaller operation virtually "next door": Planning: Her knowledge of the many alternatives around Tortola was outstanding, and her ability to work through the many detailed questions of my Chief Logistics Officer and Galley Chef (more on this in a minute) was amazing. Heidi is detail oriented and Melody was able to help with everything from swim toys, the best ferry to take, as well as provisioning the boat both with outside assistance and by ourselves. In the end we selected Amethyst from BVI Yacht Charters and couldn't be happier with our choice. After taking the Fast Ferry Provincetown III from St Thomas, we arrived on a Friday evening to a clean and cool boat and unloaded some of our liquid provisions into an awaiting ice chest full of ice. Heidi easily went to market and returned within 45 minutes to complete our provisioning while my first mate Lauren helped me stow gear and provisions below. BVI Yacht Charters: On schedule, at 8:00, we were met by Tony. After remembering the cues and crowds of previous experiences, it was outstanding to have personalized service with only a couple boats coming and going. I asked Tony if he wanted coffee and we literally both chatted and got to know each other for 15-20 minutes over a cup of joe…my blood pressure was dropping fast! He offered a comprehensive review above and below decks and took time to investigate even the smallest details I threw his way. A noisy pump was, as I suspected, a malfunctioning bilge which was replaced in the short time I headed to the office to do a chart briefing, where again, the staff was relaxed but happy to answer and detailed questions. My Galley Chef, Heidi, ran in the morning and visited the Moorings to see the changes and was comparing our relaxed morning to the literally hundreds of people clogging the docks next door. My scuba gear and Heidi's water toys arrived as planned with Melody's help and Tony helped us shove off earlier than expected/planned. We were under way by 10:30! The Trip: We spent our nights on moorings on Cooper Is., Bitter End on Virgin Gorda, White Bay on Guano, Cane Garden Bay on the north shore of Tortola and spent the last night on Peter Is., which was a quick sail back to Road Town the last morning. We all agreed that 1 or two more nights would have given us even more flexibility and we would have enjoyed the leisure to stay and visit some of the locations we visited for longer. Highlights if the trip were night time restaurants and barefoot beach walks, the Baths, scuba diving in crystal clear water, swimming every day, and sunset cocktails. This was the best trip I have ever taken as it was perfect for the kids and the adults. We will definitely be back!
